A Little House Sampler contains an interview between Rose and Almanzo from when Rose was trying to gather information for her book set in 1870s Dakota, and let's just say that Almanzo did not share his wife's talent for crafting detailed reminiscences.
What were the early saloons like? Saloons. Did they have mahogany bars and mirrors? Yes. Paintings behind the bar, swinging doors, frosted windows, or anything like that? Paintings, yes; swinging doors, no. Brass rails? Brass cuspidors? Yes. Were they poolrooms or were poolrooms separate places? Yes.
Half of the interview is Rose just desperately trying to pull any kind of detail out of Almanzo. Which is impressive given that she typed out the interview and mailed it to him to fill out--she must have known what her father was like.
The most voluble he gets is an entire paragraph describing the different types of prairie grass for her (based on which ones make the best hay.)
There are flashes of humor.
What was your attitude toward the local banker. He was a whole fellow. We would say, "Hello, Tom," but when it came to borrowing money, it was 3 percent a month.
We also have a surprisingly sad moment.
What in regard to your claim, gave you the most satisfaction during the first few years? I mean moments of satisfaction, such as finishing the shanty, putting up the team after the sod was broken, or seeing the wheat up, something like that. Those special times that one remembers of looking at something and feeling good. As, for instance, the day on Rocky Ridge when the first mortgage was paid off, and we said, "Now the place is ours!" It must have been a grand moment when you walked into the bank and handed that money to old man Freeman. Must have been moments like that, in homesteading. To save me, I can't remember of anything except that when we thrashed the first crop that was the best crop we ever had, but it was before we had much land broke up. My life has been mostly disappointments.
I also really like this last question because it's drives home that this is just a daughter talking to her dad.
If I know you, you had a fit of extravagance now and then. What did you spend money on? When you had it in you pocket and just felt like spending it? Nowadays a man would buy a new car. Remember one time when you did something like that? And hardly dast face Mama Bess with whatever you'd brought? That would in the in 1880s, but it's all the same if it was something you could have bought in 1870s. Or maybe it was one time that Roy went on a spending spree, bought something you didn't have to have, but just wanted to have. I bought a top buggy in 1882. I bought a $50 nickel-plated harness in spring 1882. I am sorry I could not remember more but it has been a long time and things did not impress me when they happened like they did some people.
That last line sums up the situation pretty well. But when you're looking into the background of a series put together by two women, it is fun to see the man of the household get a chance to speak for himself.

I feel like some of you doubt when I say things like I loved these games when I was a kid or I played them when I was younger. Well, in firing up Hotel Dusk, I finally have proof! On July 9, 2009, it was a month before my twelfth birthday.
Hotel Dusk was the first puzzle game I played that then introduced me to Ace Attorney, which then led to Layton. I have over 40 hours of gameplay saved on that file, and I remember buying it with my Christmas money, so I spent a lot of time in the world of Hotel Dusk and with these characters when I was still rather young.

Unfortunately, our plagiarism checker has found that your essay is copied word-for-word from another source. We’re very disappointed in you. At this point in your academic career, you should know better than relying on the Library of Babel to think for you.

"Deprecated Fandoms" Spam Bot Alert!
If you get a comment that says AO3 is "deleting works to conserve server space", that is a Spam Bot. There is no such thing as "deprecated fandom content", nor is there any limit on the number of works that can be posted to a fandom tag (regardless of how "popular" it is). AO3 has not changed its content policies. We are committed to upholding our founding principle of maximum inclusiveness of fanwork content, and will only remove content that violates the AO3 Terms of Service. While non-fanworks are not allowed on AO3, we consider both original works and real-person fiction to be fanworks. Please don't listen to anyone telling you otherwise.
Unlike the previous round of art spam, so far these comments have all been from guests, so our advice for handling them is different! We're working on filtering these comments out, and flagging them as spam is how you can help. Read more below the cut!
To help train our automated spam-checker to block similar guest comments in the future:
If the comment is on your own work:
Note: The "Spam" button only appears when viewing a guest comment directly on your work. This is because the AO3 comment inbox is merely a copy of the work's comments – deleting a comment from your AO3 inbox does not delete the comment from the work itself.
Go directly to the comment on your work, either by clicking on the link in your email or in your AO3 inbox.
Click on the "Spam" button to mark the guest comment as spam and remove it from your work.
That's it! You don't have to do anything else.
If you see comments like these on someone else's work:
Feel free to let the creator know the comment is from a bot and that they should mark it as spam.
You can also report the comments as botspam via the Policy Questions & Abuse Reports form linked at the bottom of every page on AO3.
If you are reporting multiple guest comments, please submit only one report and include all comment links in your report description. (You can get the direct link to any comment by clicking the "Thread" button on the comment, and then copying the URL of that page.)
AO3's Policy & Abuse committee (PAC) does not pre-screen content on AO3; they only investigate if they receive a report. All reports are reviewed by PAC volunteers, who are real human beings. You don't need to worry that your or anyone else's fanworks will be taken down due to a baseless report or a mass-reporting campaign.
If PAC were to determine that you had violated the TOS, you would receive a notification of the violation via the email address associated with your AO3 account—not via comments, social media, or any other method.

you did it, baby! - lando norris.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
content: Lando Norris x reader, post-Monaco GP (May 2025), established relationship, she runs to him after P1 win, full lap-jump celebration, cheering, adrenaline, kisses, fluff + pride
---
The second the checkered flag waved, you were already screaming.
Your throat hurt, your heart was pounding, your legs were shaking — but none of it mattered. Lando had just crossed the line in P1. He did it. Monaco. The crown jewel. His name in gold now, literally.
You didn’t even think — you ran.
Security tried to keep you at bay, but everyone knew who you were — they knew you were his. And honestly? No one was gonna stop a girl in love, not today.
The second he pulled into parc fermé, helmet off, curls a mess, eyes wide with disbelief — he saw you. And his face lit up.
“BABY!!” you screamed, arms already in the air.
He dropped everything. Hands wide open, body turned toward you, like he’d been waiting for this exact second.
You leapt.
Straight into his arms.
He caught you, spinning you around as you wrapped your legs around his waist, laughing and crying and not caring who saw. Your hands were in his hair, his arms tight around you, helmet pressed awkwardly between you both.
“You did it,” you whispered against his cheek, breathless.
“I did it,” he whispered back, voice cracking. “We did it.”
And he kissed you — messy and rushed and perfect — with the entire paddock roaring behind you.
The cameras caught everything. The world saw it happen.
But for a moment, it was just the two of you. Your boy. Your champion. Your everything.

What is Code Similarity Checker?
Code similarity checker is a tool that helps determine how similar students' code is. It does not automatically detect plagiarism but rather shows you how similar two programs are to one another. Similarity checkers assist in identifying code reuse or code similarity between projects, ensuring compliance with open-source licenses and avoiding licensing conflicts.
This method involves breaking down the code into individual tokens such as keywords, variables, and operators. The checker compares code snippets against a database of known code sources, such as open-source projects or academic publications, to detect potential instances of plagiarism.
The Code similarity checker serves as a valuable asset for software developers, educators, and researchers by helping them identify duplicate or similar code segments. The primary purpose of a code similarity checker is to assist in detecting code plagiarism, where developers copy or reuse code without proper attribution or authorization.

hi how are you hope you are well
I wondered how the slashers would react if you hugged them from behind (^-^)/
Oooooo I like this one its so cute to imagine!
I would definitely want to make a full post later down the line with this prompt! As I'm not taking request for full posts at the moment. But heres a bit of what I think!
Tumblr media
Slashers x GN! Reader
Summary: Prompt up top^ Small Headcanon!
I'm not open for requests, but little asks on thoughts on something is okay~
Tumblr media
Thomas Hewitt: If it were the first time, he would jump a bit, but when realizing it was you, he would melt in your arms. He is such a gentle giant when it comes to love. Learning from it, he would do the same when he caught you with a turned-back.
Michael Myers (78 Michael): Would not understand what you were doing or trying to do. When asking what he was doing by the tone of your voice, he would understand it was another show of affection. Still working on getting used to the feeling of love and how it works, he slowly looks forward to you coming up behind to hug his waist. Little by little, considering trying it himself.
Jason Voorhees: Ticklish, for sure. Hearing him laugh a little as he squirms at your arms wrapped around his waist. Leaving you to tease him a little about it. When doing it again, you learn to do it quickly, making it less ticklish. Jason would only attempt it when having come home and cleaned up, not wanting to get mud and sweat onto you.
Brahms Heelshire: Would love it. Really love it if you get what I'm saying. Putting aside his touch-starved state, he would beg for you to do it again after that. Rarely does it to you, wanting to be the one receiving the hug. Tall man is needy.
Bo Sinclair: Spooked by it. Makes him blush hard, worse when you kiss his neck or back, making his face burn a hot red. Though rarely lets you see him in that state, Bo loves it from the first time you do it. Does it to you as well, attacking your neck and shoulder while chuckling.
Vincent Sinclair: If it wasn't for Lester's romance movies or Bo's special movies, he would have no idea what you were doing. Understanding mostly from Lester's movies to be a loving act, he smiles under his mask, though continues to do what he working on. Moving less to not spook you into letting go.
Lester Sinclair: Getting all blushy and mushy about it. Stopping what he was doing just to melt in your arms. Asking if you could just stay like that for a little longer. It would become a daily thing for the both of you taking any chance to embrace each other.
Hannibal Lector: Wouldn't physically react, greeting you as it happens and smiling, loving every one of your affectionate acts. Continuing to work on whatever he was doing, allowing you to hang onto him, whether in silence or talking about each other's day.
Will Graham: Would chuckle at you hugging him from behind, feeling as his muscles relaxed against your touch. Preferred to let the air stay quiet, with your arms warped around his waist, feeling the fabric of his flannel shirt smelling of aftershave and dog.
Tumblr media
I didn't proofread this one too much, but I did put it through a grammar checker, so if there are any mistakes, blame Grammarly.
Hope you liked this little headcanon!

Given the misinformation that's been going around and will be going around, thought this might be helpful to some people
For a lot of reasons, I'm very good at this/at searching, to the point where I have worked as a professional fact-checker for two different publishers. So, here goes:
My Article Fact-Checking Protocol
Thorough Version
Read the full article. Keep an eye out for emotionally loaded words, and all-or-nothing language
Keep an eye out or anything that sounds too good to be true, and in contrast, anything that sounds so awful it must be true
Run the website/source through the amazing Media Bias/Fact Check. They'll tell you about a publication's bias and history of accuracy
Go to the website's home page and read through the headlines. Look at what topics they cover/prioritize, sensationalist headlines, and whether they're framing anything in a way that feels odd/off to you
Do a search related to the topic. This can be keywords, a question, or even just copy-paste the article title (Recommended: use DuckDuckGo so the results don't change based on what Google thinks they can sell you)
If multiple highly credible sources that say the same thing pop up, and there's no major societal biases that might affect the coverage of the topic in those sources (e.g. anything related to the Israel-Palestine conflict/Palestinian genocide, no matter which side), then I'm done!
If there are major societal biases, or I can't get a consensus of sufficiently credible sources, then I do some combination of:
(1) search the topic again + the words "controversy" and/or "fake"
(2) search the opposite of the topic, or do some sort of other filtered search
(3) look up a sufficiently credible news outlet with the opposite point of view of my source, and see what they have to say
(4) if it's a big enough topic, start by looking up 2 of the top national papers and 1 major paper for your region (I usually do the ones in the US, because that's where I am In the US: the LA Times, the Washington Post, and the NY Times)
Adjust "news" to "relevant type of source, e.g. tech, environmental" as relevant for all of the above options
If no red flags come up, and it's a topic I understand enough to smell huge bullshit,
Then I'm usually done!
If there are red flags, or I actually need a certain amount of detail/understanding, then it gets more complicated, but that would be a whole other thing to break down and such
or
tl;dr
Quick Version
Read the full article. Keep an eye out for emotionally loaded words, and all-or-nothing language
Keep an eye out or anything that sounds too good to be true, and in contrast, anything that sounds so awful it must be true.
If I don't know the website:
Run the website/source through the amazing Media Bias/Fact Check. They'll tell you about a publication's bias and history of accuracy
If I trust the source, but something else pinged my radar:
Do a quick web search to verify anything that sounds suspicious or too good/bad to be true (Recommended: use DuckDuckGo)
