Some stats about my large crochet project:
I've gone through 264 yards (241 meters, 0.15 miles) of yarn. The pattern calls for 1,261 yards for a completed project (1,153 meters, 0.716 miles) in the size I am making now.
It would take 29,565.6 Dinoponera gigantea ants to equal the length of a completed project, and I am at 6,189.78 currently.
Without further delay, this is what 6,189.78 Dinoponera gigantea ants look like. If you even care.

Hey hey! Ren Fair season is happening for a lot of areas now, so why not check out some of @noirandchocolate designs to add a little flair to your outfit? We have the “wheat field” design here if you like a natural earthy look.
The dragonscale pattern in yellow, green and gold is right over here in our shop, and the lacy pattern just flows so beautifully down the shoulders.
We’ll be dropping more designs soon, but in the meantime take a look over at our Etsy store and look at all of KidK’s stuff. I’m sure you’ll find something you like!

Check out this action shot of me crocheting at work!!
So I started this hat back when I was first learning to crochet maybe 4 months ago? I didn’t even know how to turn my rows around (idk if I’m describing it correctly) when I started this project. I also wasn’t and haven’t been counting the rows so I had no idea if this would be big enough. I initially made 4 rows but it was only half the width that I needed due to my not counting, so I crocheted another half and mattress stitched them together. I am still trying to hone enough patience to not cut off my ends and actually weave them in— so my mattress stitch did eventually come out due to my snippy snips— so i just decided to add a row above and below for extra stability to hold the hat together. Crocheting into the original chain was hard because I chain really small, so it kinda looks funky in some spots where I couldn’t get the hook through and just went to the stitch below. I just compared it with the hat I’m making for my girlfriend and it’s like way bigger but also like really short. To reconnect the pieces in the middle I took some inspiration from pictures I’ve seen of steps in how to “darn” sweaters (I hope I’m saying that correctly.) and kinda Frankensteined that with the mattress stitch. After all this it was still short so I’m adding another green stripe and then another brown one at the top— then I’ll measure and cope with how it’s too big,, then mattress stitch it together on the sides and create a cat hat. Oh yeah this is a hat btw idk if I said that. Anyways! If you read this far thanks!
If you can’t tell I have ADHD and it shines through all of my work LOL
Pics below showing the process

Finally finished this one that I stared a couple months ago. Baby isn’t due until December. I went to mail it out today and couldn’t because it’s a bank holiday so USPS is closed. Oops. Didn’t realize until I’d walked the 2mi there. Doh.

A friend had shown interest in commissioning me to make aa shawl in this pattern for her.
It hasn't been decided yet, but I knew I would like to NOT do it in fingering weight if I could.
I decided to make a quick mock up with a larger yarn. This is a #4/medium vs #1/fingering weight yarn. Look at how much bigger it will be!!! You can see at the top how different the yarns are by themselves too.
One repeat of the pattern in the fingering is about 5.5 in/14cm.

Hi besties <3
So. to put it plainly, I am Struggling. Mentally, and financially, because I just quit my job for mental health reasons. I’m still gonna be working full time for a couple months because I didn't want to abandon my students, but then I’ll only keep a part time job that’s gonna allow me to pay rent, but not much else.
I kinda need your help, but instead of making a donation post, I made a Patreon.
If you become a patron, first of all I’ll love you forever. You’ll also get to commission things like edits, amvs, art, and even handmade things and objects. Also you can always unsubscribe after a month, I won’t get mad <3
But if one-time tips are more your vibe I also have a Ko-fi.
And finally here’s a link to my Etsy shop 🌸
I hope you’ll consider checking these out. I love you best friends. Mwah <3

After what felt like fifteen years (but realistically estimated to be 15 minutes), I gave up. I knew it took practice to get into the habit of crocheting, and fifteen minutes wasn’t going to cut it.
