Happy Birthday, CORE!

Hey guys, Dragon8er here!

And Happy Birthday CORE!Frisk! CORE!Frisk is created and owned by @dokudoki. To celebrate this momentous occasion (February 29th only happens every 4 years, after all), I made this collection of a couple drawings of Core, and even a little comic between them and my boi Mono.

And here's the sketch of it, if you wanna see that:

Not gonna lie, I kinda cooked with this one. I am EXTREMELY proud of this one. As you can see, I went all-out. ...So much so that my right hand now hurts. A lot.

Oops.

So yeah, drawings might actually slow down as a result. But hopefully it won't be too long before I'm back at 100%. We'll see.

Devlog: Underevent, and Upcoming Development

Hey, everyone! In case you're not aware, we showcased a trailer for Poppy's Story in Underevent 2022 this year, featuring some of Poppy Buys Milk's Gameplay. Be sure to check out the event itself!

That said, on account of this being the gift-giving month, we're willing to shed some more light on the game's development!

So that said, in terms of the past few two months, I (Fms) have been mostly busy with University, as many of our team members have been preoccupied with either University, work or their own projects.

That isn't to say no progress at all has been made, however. For we've put together a lot of new things regarding the Timeline Plaza and the Village, such as a new layouts for both of them. They may be slightly incongruent with material I've released in the past for Poppy's Story itself, but I feel that, for the purposes of making a fun experience, it was neccesary.

We've also finished importing all of the costumes and talksprites for Poppy, barring the custom poses- which will still take a while to finish up- but it was still a big undertaking on its own.

Oh, and speaking of characters, you may have seen a handful of characters in Poppy Buys Milk during the Poppy's Story trailer.

There's many other characters you'll meet in your adventure, some from worlds you're familiar with...

We've been coy about showing any characters besides the Poppy cast for the longest time, but this is a special occassion.

Poppy Marusina x Promised!Tale

Born in the sacred OT and adopted daughter of Core!Frisk. !Poppy Marusina will participate in the subplot of "Promised!Tale x Omega Timeline" where she will meet and help a Frisk (Tamara) who with little strength managed to save her life to reach the OT and ask for help from Core!Frisk to save her world from a threat that in the future with (Warning) could also be for other Au's

Every act of Poppy in this comic as an Important note: (it will not break the canon of her story or her cast) This is only a fan comic for entertainment purposes.

Will Poppy (CORE!Frisk's Adopted Granddaughter) be a part of this Saga? If so, what role will she play?

Poppy will have a minor role in supporting those in the Omega Timeline and Core. When she will appear, I recommend staying tuned for that. We have quite a bit planned after Dream and Nightmare's fight.

Undertale AU Emoji Face Doodle... Thing. Yay!!!

I made a bunch of doodles of Undertale AU characters with different expressions based off this Emoji Meme thingy I found. I believe PopcornPr1nce used this exact emoji thing as a base too so I figured I'd give it a shot too. I think they turned out nice. Is this a little cringe or whatever? Yes. But shut up, I like this.

Omega Timeline: Poppy’s Story (also known as Ask Poppy) is a story set in the titular Omega Timeline, a location founded by CORE!Frisk amidst a white void, which is a safe heaven for genocide survivors, people from timelines in a dire state, or just a place for people that aren’t neccesarily in peril to hang out in.

The story follows Poppy Marusina, adoptive grandaugter of CORE!Frisk, throughout her everyday life in the Omega Timeline, her family, and what comes with living in a place with so many look-likes. With so many tragic stories around them, how can one’s story not end up blending with everyone else’s?

Undertale AU Showdown is a series of videos inspired by Shovel Knight Showdown, created by Yacht Club Games, and Undertale, created by Toby Fox (obviously). The premise is that 35 AU Characters from all over the Multiverse have been dragged into a timeline by a Gaster, and must battle their way out, meeting new friends and old foes along the way. 

You can find the videos in the official Undertale: AU Showdown Youtube Channel. It is still on-going, though infrequent in updates.

Frisky Caretaker AU is a Sprite Comic that depicts Frisk in the role of Toriel, with Asriel tagging along them. The story focuses on the Ruins portion of the AU, and is thus very short. 

The comic has been completed, you can find all of the comic here.

Undertale: PaperStory is essentially an aesthetic AU. Though with some additional partner characters, it is mostly just a retelling of UNDERTALE’s Story. That being said, it is a project I hold near and dear to my heart.

Tantamount is a Sprite Comic following a similar role structure to that of SwapShift’s, but with various differences and an unique story. The story for instance follows a post-genocide story where Frisk was victorious, and the consequences of that event.

The story is currently on-hold, but you can find the AU here.

Storyswap Color is an AU made by Lolika-0777, Chip Potato, and yours truly that (mostly) follows the role placements of the aforementioned StorySwap, but with an unique story. I was a writer and main artist for this project.

Omori: Dreamwork is Teamwork is an OMORI AU written by yours truly, and Tyrone. The story takes place one year before the canon game, and the dream friends have bled into reality alongside Mari. Interactions ensue.

What’s next?

As you all may or may not be aware, PaperStory’s, well, story got it’s final story update last week. You may be wondering what’s going to become of this blog.

... Well, I’m not too sure either. 

The story for the AU itself has been completed. So... I’m open to answering any asks you guys may have about the characters and what are they up to. I can draw some refs for some characters you guys might want to see drawn, too, so ask away.

As I say in the FAQ, I might get to doing a sequel to the AU, although this I can’t guarantee.

But as for guaranteed future content, well, I do have one last thing planned...

But we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.

Once again, thanks to everyone for reading PaperStory. It was a blast to see it through the end.

Tantamount

@ut-tantamount is an Undertale sprite Comic AU that has roles inspired by those of SwapShift, albeit not sharing them one to one. It focuses on story-sensitive moments, so it’s a relatively short read. Its Reboot is currently on Snowdin at the time of writing this, so I’d reccomend checking it out.

Core Frisk is a mysterious child that can supposedly appear wherever and whenever they want. They do many things all around the multiverse, one of which is being looking after Poppy. 

Despite their child-like appearance and their physical and psychological shortcomings, they do their best to raise her without getting her involved in the shenanigans that come with being an omnipresent entity hunted by all kinds of evil bastards and mad scientists. 

... But in recent times, they've slowly but surely seen the ever-growing gap in their relationship unfold. They're still on good talking terms, but often times, Core feels as though they need to give Poppy distance so she can extend her wings, but at the same time, they don't want to come across as intentionally neglectful. It's hard for them to reconcile the reality of themselves, and how Poppy is growing up.

As truthful as they remain, Poppy often questions them more than before. And the answers aren't always pretty.

Side note:

- Core keeps Poppy on a healthy magic food-based diet. - They remain very fond of every member of the family. - They sometimes come across as very distant. Not because they want to, but because they look like they’re doing something else, even if they’re talking to Poppy directly. That is because they are. - Sometimes Core can’t be there for Poppy, due to the 50/50 chance of their manifestation ocurring.  - Core will never admit it or ever say this, but                                                        .

Poppy's Bio (ACT 2)

Name: Poppy Marusina (Yes, that is still C!Frisk’s last name) Age: 16  - Birthday: 10/19/XX -   Pronouns: She/They Species: Ostensibly, a Paper Human Height: 5ft1

After the Act 1 finale, Poppy was greatly impacted as a person. Though her usual optimism eventually resurfaced thanks to therapy, her outlook on the people around her changed permanently.

Eventually, Dusted went on to live with Cookie, and Rust in turn begun to work in their place, so Poppy doesn't see either of them as often anymore.

However, this made her somewhat hesitantly broaden her circle of friends. Currently, she is attending school, hanging out with friends, and working at Ucans' lemonaid stand. She's sharper and smarter than her younger counterpart, even if much about the worlds outside of the Omega Timeline are still a mystery to her.

Side notes:

- Poppy still only has 4 fingers in-universe, it is not a style thing. - Poppy can speak Slovak, ASL, and English.  - She has honed her fighting skills. She can stand her ground in a conflict (which thankfully doesn't happen a lot). - Poppy will, on ocassion, speak in slovaks to say something under her breath, for not many speak the language in the Omega Timeline. - She does not have all-knowing powers. She does not have "core eyes". - She misses Mon Dusted and Rust sometimes.

What is Omega Timeline: Poppy's Story?

What is the Omega Timeline?

The Omega Timeline (created by dokudoki) is a safe haven founded by CORE!Frisk thousands of years ago to house people who have been left with no home to return to, although it’s not exclusive to them; people with no such issues often come to hang out and relax.

Please keep in mind that this blog's version of the Omega Timeline is not canon nor the definitive version of the Omega Timeline!

I always liked the Core Frisk idea of Frisk's name being Frisk Marusina. It's cute. So if it's okay, I would like to make that canon.

Poppy’s Bio (ACT 1)

Name: Poppy Marusina (Yes, that is CORE!Frisk’s last name) Age: 10 - 12  - Birthday: 10/19/XX -   Pronouns: She/They Species: Ostensibly, a Paper Human Height: 3ft8

Originally nothing but a drawing given life by a spell, Poppy was rescued from certain death by CORE!Frisk, who looked after her and helped her recover. However, without a SOUL, Poppy’s fate would have been set as the spell would start to fade. So CORE!Frisk sought Fling Ding, one of the Gaster Scientists in the Omega Timeline, to make an artificial SOUL for her.

Ever since, CORE!Frisk became her adoptive parent, but Poppy refers to them as “granpa” because she thinks they are old.

Poppy lives in CORE!Frisk’s Shed, which is where the grey child keeps most of their collection of trinkets and gadgets, however, they did make accomodations for Poppy, that being by making a bedroom for her, and making a living space in the 1st floor. 

That said, she is unaware of CORE!Frisk’s true nature as an omnipresent being, or relationships outside of the Omega Timeline. She only really grasps that they’re really smart and loving, and don’t really notice any of their... issues.

Poppy is a kind, confident person, always treating those around her with kindness. Although she can sometimes get too friendly, and make people uncomfortable. She also often misinterprets a situation, and tries to act on it without much consideration. She’s also energetic, and sometimes disobeys people.

She’s also generally unamused by people from other timelines. As Poppy has lived in a place where multiverse traffic is constant, she’s not really surprised by any given AU person that comes in. She has seen so many people come and go, it’s hard for her to inherently judge someone for being who they are, although she has come to expect certain traits. She struggles with that fact, as people sometimes blend in for her, even her own family members at times. But  she’s the kind of person that doesn’t judge a book by its cover.

Poppy has caring siblings, Dusted and Rust, who have protected her from outside threats ever since they crossed paths. She cares a lot about them, and always tries to ensure they are okay (which they most often are, at least) and encourages them to be more social (which they most often are not).

She can also fend for herself. That said, she doesn’t instantly have any fight or flight response to danger. She usually tries to talk it out. After all, she’s never truly had to face adversity of the high-stakes kind...

Monarch Chara is the person Poppy looks up the most to, however. They have taught her a lot, been there for her, assured her, been there since she was young- she considers them a parental figure who’s been with her for a good portion of her life. However, soon after Monarch’s underground was freed, they slowly became more and more absent, which Poppy can’t quite wrap her head around... 

Side notes:

- Poppy has 4 fingers in-universe, it is not a style thing. She is also comparatively supposed to look cartoonier next to the rest of characters, but it’s not something seen in the comic given the style thing didn’t come to me until later. - Poppy can speak Slovak, ASL, and English.  - Her bodies are actually drawings that, with a spell taught to her, are turned into 3D bodies. She can hop from 3D to a paper-flat state on a dime. - Poppy is perfectly waterproof despite her bodies being drawings. Fire remains a considerable threat to her, but her clothes provide her with plenty of fire protection. - Poppy is incapable of eating human food. She only eats magic food to sustain her SOUL. - Poppy will, on ocassion, speak in slovak to Core when she needs to gossip in front of people, for not many speak the language in the Omega Timeline. - I always imagined Poppy’s voice would have a bit of accent to it, due to her closest relatives speaking with an accent.  - Poppy is naturally more interested in the people that are UT OCs, rather than characters from the main UT cast. - Poppy’s second favorite subject is Chemistry. - She does not have all-knowing powers. She does not have core eyes. - Like her siblings, she can track where if they are nearby thanks to a SOUL spell they taught her- though not to the same degree of precision. She is also capable of sending a distress signal through this spell, which will more often than not call her siblings into action.
