I have many favorite ships that I go on and on about fairly often, but one I don't really talk about much is Jack and Sally from "The Nightmare Before Christmas"! Personally, I think they're a very sweet pair given their interactions in the film, so understanding and considerate of each other the whole time. To add more to that, I've always been a sucker for the whole "soulmates" trope, so whenever I hear them say they're "simply meant to be", I can't help smiling ❤️❤️

im EXTREMELY basic so, sam and/or guy for the ask game?

favorite thing about them

for guy: the more i think abt him, the more relatable he gets w/ his struggle of dealing w/ failure as well as having been more successful in his youth. it’s been a hot minute since i last rewatched the series, but im p sure that upon my next rewatch, he’s gonna solidify himself as another major comfort character for me. 

for sam: i just absolutely adore this multifaceted tiny gremlin man who canonically commits identity theft /lh (in all seriousness tho, i rly love how the show portrays him as this happy go lucky character who’s later revealed to be a lot more than meets the eye thanks to the twist. and its a twist that’s done rly well too, in my opinion!)

least favorite thing about them

for guy: don’t have much, other than going along w/ the whole “get past the gatekeeper” bit in episode 8 (idk, the motive behind it kinda irked me, esp since nobody rly tells him off for it. i mean, e.b. sorta does, [like, she acknowledges she’s being used as a way for him to get closer to her mom] but then she just accepts it p quickly, so yea)

for sam: felt like more emphasis on the fact that it was wrong of him to lie should’ve been made instead of just placing most of the blame on guy for understandably being upset abt it (even if what guy says to him abt his mom during the interrogation scene is p heavy). 

favorite line

for guy: “Thank you for getting me to try them, okay? Thank you, Sam-I-Am.”

for sam: “It’s always just been me. I mean, at least until I met you.” (the delivery on this line also makes me super emotional every time?? i swear, i cannot commend the voice acting & line delivery in this show enough, its just so good!!)

ANOTHER example in which im tired of a fandom coddling a character to an absurd degree. ppl rly need to just,, quit infantilizing sam, like??? he’s a grown adult, don’t y’all think that the way u talk abt him sometimes isn’t at least SOMEWHAT weird?? and again, ppl need to stop having unironically surface-level takeaways abt a character when the piece of media they’re from offers so much nuance and material abt them that shows just how intricate of a character they are.

i wanna give it a 10 bc it’s seriously one of my all time favorite ships but i’ll give it a 9 bc it could stand to be CANON but otherwise it’s seriously such a special ship to me ;-; i’m nothing but self-indulgence and they remind me so much of myself and my fiance but even putting that aside it’s just so obvious that they love each other so much and they canonically make each other want to be better people which is what love IS and i mean happy/grumpy is my ultimate weakness so

i’m bad at headcanons bc i’m a kinnie so i just go by what’s in my brain uhh. not to be a freak but sam is the top. they’re not that far apart in age like a lot of people seem to think. they have definitely gone to chikeraffe island at least once to visit jenkins and his mom. also they’re both Twans.

not to be cliche but easily the tent scene. everything about it is so beautiful. i’ve watched that episode like 30 times and i still burst into tears every time. but that scene gives me individual sam feels as much as samguy feels so i will also say when guy tries the ge&h because it is actually one of the most romantic things i’ve ever seen it’s so BOLD and the way the music SWELLS and sam’s FACE UGH!!!!!! SOBS!!!!!!
