Our player characters all assumed Paula would learn from Jack's pending divorce, to get back with Don again, Jack even said as much himself. "They'll always be there to get back together".

We all assumed that the parallel would be Jack and Lucy's relationship but Don is Cosmo. A ruined relationship that Jack can never fix again.

"There was something about how I did the dang job that made you feel unwanted" Paula is the one who filed for divorce, Jack is the one who went off to be a lone wolf.

"and even though I said that we should stay together, you would never have gone off on your own if you felt like this partnership could give you what you were looking for."

Both left the relationship, Paula says Don still loves her and the entire time the question has been "how can Paula fix her marriage?" but Cosmo is dead.

Cosmo still loved Jack and he's dead. He will never "be there" again.

Chasing Manhattan are their surnames and describes their relationship where Cosmo is the one always chasing after Jack (Also, it’s a novel that I have not read and therefore cannot ascertain the similar themes)

Speakeasy is a pun on their names as drinks (Cosmopolitan and Manhattan) but also feels like an in-universe reference to them likely meeting for the first time in a bar or having a mission in one where there was a very homoerotic scene that lit the fanbase

Tough Love is a direct reference to their movie’s name as well as the general way Jack tends to treat his relationships with apparently everyone

RoosterCrow references Jack’s catchphrase and is a cheeky fandom way to describe their relationship as the Wildcard and the By-the-Books in the scenario that the fandom matched each character to a bird, Jack is bluster and fluster whereas Cosmo is serious, social, and secretly soft
