okay, you got me, I don't listen to Slovak music as much as I should, BUT here are two that I picked. why two?

Muoj Bože goes way too hard for me to ignore. still a favourite. not sure if it counts though because despite the song being by a Slovak singer, the lyrics are actually in Old Church Slavonic.

to keep up with the mildly religious tone (and I know you said you dislike rap, but these guys don't swear so that's a start)

Zdravas by Modré Hory. heard the group by absolute accident at a festival last year and this is by far my favourite song by them. the chorus is a very (politically) liberal re-phrasing of the prayer of Ave Maria (who is the patron saint of Slovakia, which just makes the choice so much better)

Song I hate is, at the moment, "Zatancuj si so mnou" - it's on the radio all the time, it's played at every event, it's not good, I hate it, every time I am forced to listen to it I feel my will to live dwindling.

probably Kremnica. the old centre is lovely, they have great restaurants, their museums are cool and also, Kremnické Gagy (a comedy event that last 3 days at the end of August). it's always a chill time and I'll be visiting this coming week

Original Soundtrack - Děvčátko

Poslední český film roku 2002 s poetickým názvem Děvčátko má na svědomí scenárista a režisér Benjamin Tuček. Příběh sedmnáctileté Emy, která možná spíš než lásku hledá svého nikdy nespatřeného otce, a její osamělé matky je něžně smutný. Ben Tuček, sám muzikant a leader již neexistující kapely Teen Love Sex Doll, obsadil do hlavních rolí vedle dvou slovenských hereček Doroty Nvotové a Jany Hubinské také sídliště a muziku. Na chvilku se film v několika místech jakoby změní ve videoklip a skvěle tak zafungují některé ze skladeb, které na soundtrack spolu s Tučkem vybral také Ivo Heger (ex-Toyen). Ten je navíc autorem původní filmové hudby. Všechny skladby nejrůznějších žánrů pocházejí z české, případně slovenské produkce a vedle známých jmen české taneční scény se tu objevují obskurní T.G.M. Stereo, filmová country kapela Golden Horses nebo Žbirkova Atlantida - v původní verzi i tak, jak ji ve filmu nazpívala herečka a mimochodem také šansoniérka Jana Hubinská. Povedený soundtrack Děvčátko obsahuje navíc ještě útržky dialogů z filmu, takže si můžete dokola pouštět moudra o tom, že "každý jméno něco znamená" nebo že "někteří lidi by spolu vůbec nemuseli mluvit".

Ale hlavně musíte mít rádi nefalšovaný a nepřenositelný UK garage, neboť to je přesně to, co nám v 18 skladbách producent Oxide servíruje. S prvním albem zaznamenali Oxide & Neutrino velký úspěch a pomohli žánru UK garage získat na prestiži, od té doby se jim taky podařilo značně zdevastovat svůj mediální obraz... Saïan Supa Crew - X Raisons

Nejznámější zástupci francouzské hip hopové scény Saïan Supa Crew, kteří vystoupili už i u nás, si prorazili cestu do Evropy i Ameriky hlavně díky skvělým koncertům a osobitému vokálnímu projevu. To, že se jim podařilo přenést energii živých vystoupení i na jejich v pořadí již druhé album X Raisons, si můžete ověřit na vlastní uši a náležitě ocenit. Na desce uslyšíte, jak SSC decentně míchají hip hop s černým popem i ragga a jak střídají beatbox i rap, případně vrství rapování přes sebe - jejich specialitkou jsou pak sborové rapy... Kdo neumí francouzsky, nemusí si zoufat, protože i tak by mu zůstávala většina textů nesrozumitelných, jak sami říkají: nejde ani tak o slova, jako o vibrace... Saïan Supa Crew berou hip hop jako způsob komunikace, jako životní filozofii a především jako hru, uvolněnost, návrat k jamajským kořenům a pozitivní ozvěny života na ulici jsou věci, které člověka v souvislosti s touhle partou napadají.

Craig David si coby hvězda novodobého r'n'b vysloužil popularitu v Evropě i v USA, když před dvěma lety vydal úspěšný debut Born To Do It. Postupem času se tak trochu vzdálil své domovské UK garageové scény a sebevědomě se pohybuje na popové scéně zavánějící americkou hitparádovou produkcí. Jeho vokální projev je na druhé desce Slicker Than Your Avarage rozmanitější, ale jinak se Mr. loverman Craig David rozhodně nepustil do experimentů. Vedle několika podařených skladeb jako 2 Steps Back, Hands Up in The Air nebo aktuálního singlu What's Your Flava? má deska i svá slabší, "polopatická" místa: popově nasládlý Personal, španělský Spanish, trochu ostřejší pouliční Fast Cars nebo podezřele bezchybný duet Rise & Fall se Stingem. The Slovak National Museum (Slovak: Slovenské národné múzeum) is the most important institution focusing on scientific research and cultural education in the field of museology in Slovakia.
