BELOVED COW!! This has to be one of my favourite things I made this year, even if shipping extra yarn in time for Christmas after I didn’t get enough almost bankrupted me. The things I would do for a Leetle Cow… she was a gift for a uni friend who loves Highland Coos !! And she is just the roundest lass of all time.

Yarn: Go Handmade ‘Couture’ yarn in the shades ‘Autumn Orange’ and ‘‘Dirty’ Beige’, held together with We Love Yarn Recycled Cotton in the shade ‘Curry’ to give her more structure!

Pattern: I used the ‘Strawberry Cow Pattern’ by CraftingInGlory from Etsy as a base, and added things like the fuzzy hair!

Day 20

Madara pulled the yarn through the final stitch and looked at his… scarf. It was an attempt and while it didn’t look awful, he could tell that his tension had been maybe too tight and there was a weird dip a few rows in, but at least it was finished. He grabbed a yarn needle and tried to weave in the tails so he could properly call it finished. 

Leo had been complaining about losing his scarf the week before and Madara had the genius idea to try and make one himself. He had tried knitting but three dropped stitches later he decided to try something else. Kuro had suggested crochet since it was much more beginner friendly, and Madara had to agree. Despite everything, at least the scarf in his hands wouldn’t fall apart if he forgot a stitch somewhere. 

It still looked like a pretty messed up rectangle though. He debated just making a second one when the door opened to the craft room and he felt someone drape themself over his shoulders. 

“Mamaaaaaaaaaaaaaa,” Leo whined. “Why are you ignoring me?” 

Madara turned his phone on and noticed a dozen missed calls and several unanswered texts from Leo. Oops. 

“Sorry Leo-san, I got distracted.” He turned to press a chaste kiss to Leo’s lips. “I tried to make you something but--” Leo’s eyes lit up and he reached for the garment in Madara’s hands. 

“Wahaha! You’re the best Mama! I love it!” Leo had already wrapped the scarf around his neck despite being indoors. “Oh I’m filled with inspiration! Do you have any paper? I need to write an Ode to Mama’s Scarf immediately!” 

Madara laughed and pulled out the notepad he had started carrying with him from his bag. Leo grabbed it and began scribbling, singing the melody as it came to him. When he was finished he tore out the page and folded it into his pocket for later. 

“Thank you, Mama. I mean it.” Madara felt a light blush on his face, a rare occurrence in their relationship. 

“Anything for you, Leo-san.”

What are your thoughts on Padme? I'm so curious about your take

I love Padme!

By herself.

Queen/Senator Amidala was a formative character in my early life, and definitely was a hyperfocus that ignited a life-long interest in fashion. She was an introduction of high-end couture and costume design.

(I have a lot of life-long interests, but such is the way of having ADHD).

That isn't to say that she is without points of criticism on my part, though they aren't criticism of her as a person or as a character, merely critical analysis of her choices and her actions. A lot of them revolve around her conflict of interest with her position as a politician, and her personal life. There are certainly plenty of parallels between her and Anakin, which is probably one reason why they worked for the canon narrative.

But, I can criticize my favorite characters until the sea cows come home because that's part of analyzing the characters. It is similar to how I show my life: I'll pick on them.

Though, it is for that reason why I have been much more critical of AnidaIa as a relationship, though my dislike of the relationship is nothing new. I have never liked Anakin and Padmé together, and their relationship is the core criticism I'd have to levy towards her. This is a case of, 'Not a good long-term fit for each other, and that is okay.' Which is why I put her in the same column as the Jedi Order when it comes to Anakin's life. Mostly, it would have been better for everyone involved if he just departed on amicable terms.

I'm Pro-Jedi and Pro-Padmé, along with my pro-Anakin stance. There is good, there is bad, there are things to be critical about, and there are things to be defensive about.

From the ROTS novel, which is now considered Legends, however I believe that it is entirely relevant as it was line-edited by Lucas:

Fundamentally, she was compelled from within to be a politician, though she had spent her early life dreaming of being a mother. Naboo tradition excludes these two ways of life. I believe that Anakin's life in the Order made him a safe bet for her to live out a secret fantasy life started in the sweep of excitement when the war started. However, as time went on and consequences began to be more tangible, I do believe that Padmé was forced at times to realize that her fantasy wouldn't be allowed to carry on forever. Sadly, it was inevitable that the bubble would burst, and there would be consequences for the actions both parties made.

There is no doubt that she is a bold and strong character, with enough conflicts within her to be interesting. However, she was handed a short string when it comes to the quality of her narrative. As a character, she is probably at her strongest the furthest away she is pulled away from Anakin.

From within the comics, all the positive and interesting traits of her seem to have been transferred over to her former handmaiden, Sabé. Which, good for her, I guess? But, would have preferred for Padmé to have tried to kill Anakin in ROTS, survived, and become the rebel leader she should have been—as originally conceived for her.

Padmé Amidala is a character that suffered more from time constraints cutting short a character's potential and letting it fall away onto the cutting room floor. I do think that if at the time of ROTS there was a stronger guarantee that more exploration would be had between EP3 and EP4, I do think that Padmé's story wouldn't have ended so anticlimactically as it had.

My apologies that I don't write as much for this kind of meta analysis as others might. But, I hope that these succinct thoughts are sufficient?

Oh! Oh! I can help!! Ahem~

Hearts has plenty of things to do in the Hearts Capital! We have a lovely farmers market that is open most of the week, offering custom crafts and food that you can't find anywhere else! If you like fishing, we have an easy to get fishing license so you can boat or fish straight from the dock! We also have lovely parks and monuments perfect for a Sunday stroll or for a picnic! We also have cuisine from all over as we have many immigrate run restaurants! From the haute couture of Diamond food, to the regal over sea taste of Spadian food, any variety of taste you crave we most likely have! We have plenty of Festivals too like the Chocolate Festival!

Outside of the Hearts Capital, up the mountain away we have the Glass Village! These folks specialize in Ice magic, and they're wonderful artists! I recommend visiting during the Sculpture Festival! A good amount of our Heartian royal court come from up there, so they are very good people! Oh!! And they have yummy milk and soft warm clothing because their cows and sheep are so fluffy!

However, I do recommend keeping away from the Blutender Wald, otherwise known as the Bleeding Forest. It's considered bandit country still, and we want everyone to be safe. But our Chief of Police is working on making sure its cleared out so we can open it for tourism again! When it's safe again, I recommend going there! Everything's red! The grass, the trees, even the animals! Hence why it has a spooky name but well, that's just how it be sometimes!

Hazbin Hotel Season 1 to 7 Ideas

Season 1

. We see how the Hazbin Gang join the Hazbin Hotel one way or another

. Angel Dust torn between XXX studios and Hazbin Hotel before FINALLY rage quitting XXX studios AND getting together with Husk in the Season Finale

. We are introduced to the rest of the Hell Imperial Family

. The reason why Angel Dust cut off his family is teased ( read Tarantellla Fam in Hell )

. The Hazbin Gang's backstories are explored one way or another

. The Hazbin Hotel gaining customers as soon as it changed from a full on redemption program to a hotel with an optional redemption program

Angel Dust reunites with his long estranged siblings - Arackniss through a turf war between Angel Dust and Cherri, and Sir Pentious and Arackniss....and Arackniss and Angel bicker before withdrawing arms, and Sir Pentious decided to make a truce with Angel and Cherri - he sensed something is up with the Tarantella Fam; Molly sometime after, through a visit to Cobweb Couture and Molly is just happy to see her younger twin brother again.

. Alastor and Angel Dust's parents are teased

. How Charlie and Vaggie turned from friends to romantic girlfriends are explored ( Vaggie for a job as a guard at Pride Court sometime after she arrived in Hell and eventually Striked a friendship with Charlie which turned to true love )

. HUSK AND ANGEL FINALLY REALIZING THAT THEY ARE FALLING FOR EACH OTHER WHILST DANCING TO CAROUSEL WALTZ IN LUCIFER'S HALLOWEEN MASQUERADE BALL ( Lucifer's birthday is in Halloween ) AND THEN ANGEL RUNS AWAY FROM THE BALLROOM CUZ HE WAS SO TERRIFIED OF HIS OWN NEW FEELINGS. Yeah eventually, but Husk and Angel Dust came around

. Husk and Angel Dust evolve from drinking buddies to true love - Husk brushing off Angel's flirting cuz he respects Angel FAR MORE than being a sex symbol, and their unlikely friendship turned to true romance.

Season 2

. Angel and Alastor's parents make their debut

. Actually the 3 Vs are ready to wage war against Angel Dust for ' robbing their No. 1 cash cow away from them '. Of fucking course the Hazbin Gang, Charlie's cousins and a great number of hotel patrons defend the Hotel

. Angel Dust FINALLY reveals to Charlie and Vaggie in a tell all interview ( in Italian, with Baxter translating it with a translator machine in another room ) about the full extent of abuse he suffered from the 3 Vs.....and how exactly he cut off his family ( the reason is HEARTBREAKING )

. Husk and Angel sing All I Ask of You from POTO as Husk comforts Angel after he stormed out of the interview after Charlie and Vaggie called him out ( dude literally THREW a sky blue Vase across the room and screamed in English and Italian swears before storming out )

. Husk sends an emergency letter to Angel's parents (both are outraged af )

. The next day, Constanza visits her youngest son for the first time in 7 decades, and both have tearful reunion. Angel Dust and Henroin's reconiciliation is somewhat strained, but they managed to apologise.

. Henroin and Constanza forged an unlikely alliance with Sebastien and Esther ( Alastor's parents )

. The Hell Imperial Parents secretly providing their offsprings in this vendetta war.

. Esther and Sebastien's backstories are explored in some extent, whilst Henroin and Constanza's backstories are teased.

. Husk meets the rest of the Tarantella fam for the first time in a family gathering.

. Seviathan and Helsa are being smuggled back from another plane of the Underworld by their parents, who sided with the 3 Vs

. Angel Dust tried to overdose himself with cocaine ( similarly to how he died but was done by a rival gang that captured and tortured him to death in May 1947 ) after receiving a death threat email by Val on Fat Nuggets and Husk. Luckily for everyone, his friends averted his suicide attempt JUST IN TIME, barging into his room and throwing away the cocaine back.

. Poor Angel Dust and Husk cried in each other's arms. Charlie called Henroin and Constanza, and Henroin arrived to comfort Arackniss and Molly whilst Constanza burst to cry with Angel Dust.

Season 3

. The Spider Sibs FINALLY explore their parents' backstories

. Angel Dust gets a new job as a circus performer in Cirque du Freak in Greed Ring

. Actually Angel Dust and Husk are dragged by the 4 Temperaments to the Greed Royal Limo to Cirque du Freak and he was hired with a reason that ' they are gonna milk Valentino dry '

. Angel Dust gets better pay and treatment in his new work place

. Charlie tries to ask her parents about their backstories....but they are unwilling to tell her. Charlie thinks that her parents havent fully healed from their PTSD, after all those centuries.

. The Hazbin Hotel has even more security measures for the hotel, and one by one, even a great number of the 3 Vs' lackeys also quit working for them (they are sick and tired of the 3 Vs too )

. Constanza reveals to her 3 kids how exactly she burned down Circus Zaragoza, when she was 7 months shy from turning 17, and boarding the first ship to New York.

. One by one, near the Season Finale, the 3 Vs and Von Eldtrich parents meet their demise ( they are all tortured to death by the Hell Imperial Family, one by one )

. In the Season Finale, Angel Dust and Husk burn down XXX studios during the Final Battle

. Little did they all know, during the celebration at Hazbin Hotel, a mysterious social media account called Gossip Horn was created

How Grits creates a Character

Usually when I make an OC I study canon. If there's a motif or something missing I fill it out. Take Sonic for example. If you look at the female cast there isn't a green-themed character except for Zeena (but she's boring lol) So, Noelani fills that empty space.

Since Lani's origins begin in the Adventure games, I felt like she could be the Daisy to Amy's Peach. Helps that Amy is pink&red, complementary to green. If you look at Lani's attire you'd see similarities:

Just like how Amy has white trim, Lani also has these. One major difference is Lani's clothes lean towards athletic. Some outfits look like swimsuits since she is constantly around water. Her sweat-suit are based on Juicy Couture, a popular brand in the 90s&2000s & the era of the Adventure games' release.

Since her power is hydrokinesis has a tropical theme to go with it. Coconut Girl was also a popular trend in the 2000s.

Common motifs includes seashells, wave patterns, flower prints. Her color scheme also reflects it: seafoam green, sand, hot pink, with bits of aqua and pearlescent shades as accents. Her hairstyles are often in buns or twists. Another reason why her color is green is that she is the Light Archetype of Eggman: a good selfless human who relies more on nature&mysticism opposed to Eggman's strict, selfish technocracy.

Princess Syrup is another example. Since she is a part of Gingerbrave's band, I chose colors none of them have. Green was perfect: it compliments her eyes&hair and symbolizes her nature/floral theming. Her main suit is green and forest green; with a touch of brown and gold to balance it out.

For Aida/Chesney, her theme color is pink. It fits her soft, feminine personality. But also because yellow would've blended in with the gold which wouldn't look good. She also has cow horns because her patron goddess is Hathor.

With Junia, she tends to go for neon colors because she wants to stand out. Her main body is platinum which makes tve neon accents pop out more. She also has a thicker body type as thick women are uncommon in fighting games. And she has a Y2K theme as that is a current trend right now. So her clothes are sparkly mini skirts, clunky platform boots, the bright hair.

It takes a lot of playing around and sketching to see how to fit your fancharacter in! But usually it's me scoping out colors&personalities that the main cast lack and building up from there!!
