Ok coming from a psychology major student, your description of PTSD and mental health issues is actually pretty dang good. Idk if it was intentionally researched or not but there’s like a ton of stuff that’s consistent with real life trauma and it’s quite frankly impressive

Again not sure if this was intentional or not but the thing on his back reminds me so much of old school electroshock therapy which I adore bc

A: it causes confusion and memory loss which you’ve shown and

B: kinda implies that maybe he did his own research when deciding how to deal with everything or

C: again is incredibly accurate in the fact that most trauma patients continuously seek pain out, and in turn report feelings of extreme boredom and numbness when not actively experiencing pain or reliving trauma. In his case going borderline catatonic when he’s not freaking out.

On the topic of “freaking out” a lack or decrease in serotonin leads to a more reactive and intense episodes in PTSD. Or, because the little guy is like mega depressed coz of the whole situation, he gets way more intense and violent episodes that someone who was on like Prozac. And would tend to be more on edge and sensitive to triggers.

Then there’s his family. For some background, there’s a part of your brain called the amygdala. It typically works to control basic emotions, but responds very well to fear. In traumatic experiences, it pairs with the hippocampus (the memory center of the brain) to store vivid and occasionally sensory memories.

When a memory trigger is provoked and brought back into consciousness, it actually changes slightly depending on the context of which it recalled. Those memories are changed to fit how we make sense of them. So if he feels guilty for his brothers death, then his memories will reflect it whether or not it’s actually true.

Essentially, him having his brothers showing up all the time (looking the way they do) is really bad for him on multiple levels, and not just because they’re triggering visually. They’re like actually impeding his ability to recover by keeping him in an aggressive form of already intense fight or flight that comes from trauma.

On a happier note, one of the best ways to improve is to establish and nurture caring relationships. Awww

This is just my speculation. I haven't read the books. All I know is the series and movies. Ok...So: I think that, initially, Armand wanted to actually kill Louis and Claudia to avenge Lestat or to teach the new vampires a lesson for breaking the great laws or something. He might have planned the play much, much in advance too. Might have even thought of attracting Lestat to Paris by using Louis and Claudia as bait. But gradually as he grew closer to Louis, and even shared his most intimate and traumatic past with him, Armand genuinely started falling for Louis. He really started caring for him. He was fighting his feelings for Louis, maybe, because he was scared to fall in love again. He loved Lestat the last time, and was abandoned. Side note: there might be more to that story, regarding one Nicky details, but Armand would still perceive it as abandonment.

So, on one hand he is really having romantic feels for Louis but on the other hand he has already planned with the coven to kill him. He might have thought Louis dying would be better for himself coz he didn't want to deal with conflicting feelings anymore. The trial will the end of his confusion. But then...Lestat saved Louis. It's possible by that point in the play Armand was already regretting that he was letting Louis die. I am certain he doesn't give a fuck about Claudia. So....when Lestat saved Louis, Armand planned to save him from the rock filled coffin, and become the knight in shining armour. Hm. Sort of.

And then, over the 70 years of living together, Armand had genuinely and completely fallen for Louis. Didn't want to lose him. Even let Daniel interview him again. Maybe he thought he could always handle keeping the secrets safe. Unfortunately, for our old boy, Daniel...turned out to be a fearless, fierce, charming and witty af journalist. The talamasca fucked it up too by teaming with him. It's why Armand turned Daniel as punishment. He never wanted to turn, as said by him in season 1. Armand remembered that, it even looked like that reply from Daniel affected him.

So, I do feel like that he still loves Louis (everyone is in love with him like damn, Helen of Troy could never). Does he still have feelings for Lestat? I didn't think so but I read a twitter post that implied that he still had some feels for Lestat. Might be something from the books. Either way, I am sure he still felt love for Louis.

Maybe...maybe, initially, he saved Louis to make Lestat jealous too. Like a rebound?? But later on, by the time it was 1970s, Armand has accepted his romantic feelings for Louis. Lestat is staying away from Louis, might be out of guilt or whatever reason. Everything is going ok... except it's not ok. Coz Louis...is still so connected to Lestat by the "vampire bond". He still thinks about the brat. I think it was even implied that he still sees dreamstat (I fucking love that petname btw).

Armand was always in a lose-lose situation it seems. He either loses Louis to death or Lestat. I am not sad for him. I just feel like...for such a powerful, ancient vampire, he is pretty pathetic. Armand, Armand...another fascinating character. So broken, so dangerous, so cruel and so, so delicately pretty. Sometimes, I still hear him saying "Your FASCINATING boy!!"

I had a dream last night that I watched the first ep of Pit Babe 2, and here’s the Kenta cut:

There was a flashback to the auction, and they implied that Tony regenerated very shortly after his death—Kenta was still there and Tony was giving him orders as if nothing had happened. They didn’t show the actual resurrection, so there was a big question in the fandom as to whether or not Tony actually remembered that Kenta had killed him

During the flashback, Kenta helped X-Hunter escape. He was working for Tony, but it was overt to the audience that he wasn’t under Tony’s spell. It hadn’t been made clear yet why he was still working for him, but speculation was that he felt that he would never escape Tony. I was in the “wait and see what’s really going on before I decide how to feel about this” camp, but I was prepared to be annoyed depending on how things went.

In the present, Tony had a gang of rogues working for him, and one of them was a woman, with a name! She looked like a badass and the whole fandom was losing its mind over her

Kenta was casually hooking up with her—there were offscreen moans and him doing little performative “no- ah”s. Tony tried to shame Kenta for it, and Kenta very blankly told him: “It’s a strategic relationship. Just watched BBC Merlin S2E4 "Gwen and Lancelot" for the first time and despite the episode title, it's clearly about 2 couples and I'm loving it! Can't get enough of the Merthur interactions and Gwen and Lancelot being mirror characters for Merthur.

I have so many fav Merthur moments in this episode:

- how Arthur and Merlin are clearly so in synch with each other about saving gwen despite Arthur publicly 'agreeing' with Uther that servants aren't worth the risks. Merthur's implicit understanding of each other was contrasted nicely with Morgana assuming Arthur was really gonna abandon Gwen to her death & shouting at him about it. In comparison, Arthur and Merlin were both packing for the rescue mission immediately after they left court, which meant they knew what each other wanted to do, without having to talk about it at length. Love how this implies that Arthur takes Merlin into his confidence when he trusts no one else with his plans, and that Merlin knows who Arthur is.

This reminded me of their conversation in S1E13 (the one with the questing beast) when Merlin says his surreptitious goodbye to Arthur - Arthur: "sometimes i wonder if you know who I am", Merlin: "oh I know who you are".

Yes he does! Our boys are not only in love but also understand each other implicitly without words! I'm so happy!

- This implicit understanding & attunement with each other is seen again when Merlin takes 1 look at Arthur and says "oh no, I know that face, I'm not gonna like this am I?" when Arthur suggests they go through the tunnels infested with the giant mole-rats. Arthur then very sweetly tempers his description from "giant" to "baby rats" when he sees Merlin's adorably worried face. Merlin was seriously adorable in that moment and Arthur's desire & instinct to assure Merlin and reduce his worry was equally adorable! Loving this sweet tender side of Arthur!

- Arthur smearing the berries on Merlin's face was of course classic Arthur showing romantic interest in a pigtail-pulling way but also ensuring Merlin is sufficiently covered while sneaking in some physical contact under the guise of horseplay.

- when Merlin intuits Arthur really cares about Gwen after Arthur admitted he couldn't sleep, Merlin says "I've never seen you like this about anyone". Technically, Merlin really hasn't seen Arthur like this, but that's coz Merlin was dying from Nimueh's poisoned chalice at the time. We the audience however have seen Arthur like this, in magnitudes more pronounced than this as a matter of fact, and it was to save Merlin. Wish someone would tell Merlin! Arthur not only went off on that perilous journey to save Merlin alone and without hesitation, he did so knowing he would most likely die. He also directly opposed his father for Merlin, and otherwise risked everything he has ever known for Merlin, a servant who is not just a servant. So yeah, Gwen is a mirror for Merlin in this case, which means Merthur is romantically coded :)

- Arthur opening up to Merlin about his feelings in an UNPRECEDENTED way in the 'confession' scene at the stream after they've escaped the mole-rat tunnels and are washing off the stinky berries. I don't think we've ever seen Arthur as vulnerable and honest with anyone else in his life as he is with Merlin here! The 'confession' is otensibly about Gwen, but the subtly ambiguous way Bradley James played this scene was brilliant! Not to mention the way they've setup the scene also lends itself to the ambiguity.

The scene starts when Merlin finds out that Arthur didnt know whether the berries would actually work, and Arthur was obviously very charmed by Merlin's unadulterated reaction, and even apologizes in a very fond & sincere way to Merlin. If this is not a man in love in with Merlin, I don't know what is.

This scene is also set immediately after a scene where Gwen (Arthur's mirror in this case) tells Lancelot (Merlin's mirror) that she didn't know she could feel this way about somebody, to which Lancelot replies that she has given him a reason to live, much like Arthur didn't know he could feel the way he does about Merlin, a lowly servant boy who seems like a wimp but who he admires and wants to be admired by, is magnetically attracted to, cares about deeply and I'd say is in love with. And similar to Lancelot with Gwen, Merlin found his reason to live in Arthur.

Then Merlin says "well they do say love makes you do strange things" immediately after Arthur apologizes to him fondly, and Arthur's moment of hidden panic ("what are you talking about") resolved into disbelief-tinged-with-relief when Merlin clarified he was talking about gwen and not arthur's uncharacteristic and fond apology to Merlin.

Then we get the truth being pulled out of Arthur -- and this is Merthur subtext and double speak at its best:

Merlin, teasingly: "It's so obvious, a blind man can see it! Is it really that hard to admit that you like her? Just say it!",

as though Merlin's not just asking Arthur about gwen, he's also asking Arthur on the audience's behalf to admit he likes Merlin, which Merlin and audiences like me would love to hear because the Merthur chemistry really is so obvious.

(Interestingly, "it's so obvious a blind man can see it" mirrors what Bradley james said in an interview when asked to choose between romance with Gwen and bromance with Merlin. Bradley chose bromance with Merlin without hesitation, saying bromance with Merlin is "there for everybody to see". It's nice to see the actor supporting the ship when most actors would have just toed the PC line and remained non-committal!)

Arthur, the truth bursting out of him while looking Merlin straight in the eye: "I can't! How can I admit that I think about her all the time, or that I care about her more than anyone? "

Reaction shot of Merlin, smile falling off his face, as though he's realising that this is how he feels about Arthur, and that if this is how Arthur feels about Gwen, it really is serious.

(Meanwhile, we the audience are squeeling because we certainly noticed Arthur cares about Merlin more than anyone else way back in season 1, to the point of wanting to drink from the poisoned chalice for Merlin, and outright defying Uther for Merlin).

Arthur, looking Merlin straight in the eyes at crucial points, while looking away at others as though he still has something to hide from Merlin: "How can I admit that I don't know what I'll do if any harm comes to her?"

(Again, audience is reminded of how Arthur was beside himself in the poisoned chalice episode when harm was about to befall Merlin.)

Merlin, no trace of teasing left in his tone: "Why can't you?", as though he's asking Arthur not just about gwen, but also asking about himself on behalf of the audience, because he and the audience needs to understand why Arthur swings between willing-to-die-for-Merlin-in-action and insulting-Merlin-horribly-in-words.

Arthur, suddenly using the immediate term 'us' instead of the 3rd person 'her': "Because nothing can ever happen between us! To admit my feelings knowing that... hurts too much".

Merlin: "Who's to say nothing can happen?".

Arthur, again not using 'her': "My father won't even let me rescue a servant, do you honestly believe he'll let me marry one?".

I think the Merthur subtext and double speak was clearly signalled by the ambiguous dialogue where Arthur switches to 'us', 'servant' and 'marry one' instead of 'her' at these crucial points.

I think it's 100% legitimate to interpret the scene and whole episode as romantically coded Merthur, even when i'm approaching this just from a film analysis angle.

Merlin then says, surprised: "you want to marry gwen?"

To which Arthur genuinely clarifies: "No! No, i, i don't know."

After a pause, Arthur: "it's all talk, and that's all it can ever be."

I like to think this part of the dialoque is perhaps the writers testing the waters to see how far they can push Merthur from subtext into text, or signalling they are on the fence about Merthur vs Argwen, or even the writers subtly acknowledging merthur but saying it's all talk and that's all it can ever be, but that's just pure speculation on my part. Speculating's fun as long as no one takes it too seriously or get their hopes up ;)

Leaving out speculation about the writer's intentions, the dialogue then retreats from the 4th wall with Merlin saying "when you're king, you can change that", to which arthur says he can't ask gwen to wait that long for him, and then the absolute kicker of this whole dialogue drops like a foreshadowing bombshell with Merlin's reply "if she feels as you do, she'll wait for you".

First of all, Arthur very practically points out "we don't even know if she's still alive" like he's just pointing out an unemotional fact, one that isn't going to devastate him either way, which tells us that while Arthur cares about Gwen and likes her, he's not beside himself with worry or devastation at the thought of her possibly being dead.

Secondly, we find out in this episode itself that Gwen does not in fact feel strongly enough about Arthur to wait for him either, she's in love with Lancelot.

Thirdly and most importantly, we know the series ends with Merlin waiting for Arthur for 1500 years and counting, and isn't that the kicker?? The dialogue "if she feels as you do, she'll wait for you" foreshadows Merlin waiting for Arthur, because he feels as Arthur does! Romantically coded again!  Maybe the writers really did plan out the whole series outline with the end in mind, like they claimed. In any case, this dialogue is a great piece of foreshadowing that works on 3 different levels, while also validating in a very subtle way Arthur and Merlin's feelings for each other is reciprocated and requited, and strong enough to withstand 1500 years of waiting.

One of my favourite Merthur episodes!

- there are of course other moments in this episode where Lancelot as Arthur's mirror asks Gwen (Merlin's mirror) to live on for him or "everything that I am will be for nothing", which foreshadows what Merlin had to do after Arthur's death. Lancelot is also a mirror for Merlin here because everything that Merlin lived for came to nothing when Arthur died.

In this scene, the same music that played when Arthur kissed Gwen for the first time in S2E2 plays again, but the crucial difference here is Gwen is the one who kisses Lancelot, as compared to her just receiving Arthur's kiss. This again tells us her feelings for Lancelot is a lot stronger than her feelings for Arthur.

Gwen as Merlin's mirror also says to Lancelot "as long as I live, my feelings for you will never fade", which foreshadows what poor Merlin feels for Arthur, and since Merlin is immortal, it means his love for Arthur will never fade FOREVER, even after arthur's death (ah gawd my heart breaks for merlin).

- when Lancelot finds out that Gwen did not escape successfully afterall, the evil kidnapper says Lancelot's failure to protect gwen will hurt Lancelot more than he can understand, and man, Lancelot's pain again foreshadows what Merlin will feel when he 'fails' to save Arthur.

- after they've all successfully escaped, Lancelot as Merlin's mirror says "My feelings do not matter. I will not come between them", and you could see in Merlin's face that he's coming to the same decision about his own feelings, that he will not come between Arthur and Gwen, and man I wanna tell my poor sweet self-sacrificing Merlin that oftentimes, you do good in this world simply by pursuing your own happiness and well-being.

Lancelot then says "she has changed me forever, but some things cannot be", just like Arthur has changed Merlin forever and vice versus, but we know their love story cannot be either, at least not in Camelot's time.

And thus ends my meta ramblings for a great episode!!

Violence seems to be an unfortunate overarching theme regarding the Jiang Family and how they exhibit any emotional behavior. And to answer the main point of your ask, no, Jiang Cheng is not any better towards Jin Ling and how he treats him. He treats him exactly as Madam Yu did with Jiang Cheng. With cruel ever changing expectations that were too high for a child to ever be reasonably expected to achieve without help or the care that should have been exhibited to raise a confident child. Jiang Cheng took the role of his mother in all ways and superimposed his life onto Jin Ling as well. Generational trauma is not always easy to of course pick up when you have grown within that environment. Yes you may know something is not "normal" as you interact with others but it's hard to name or describe why. Jiang Cheng thought of his mother respectfully despite her own many flaws, generational deference is difficult to question when that is all you have known until you are in a better environment to explore and comfortably learn despite being less than grand in execution. Jiang Cheng did not get that chance in life, but he does finally let Jin Ling have that as Jin Ling seeks out Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji for nighthunts to learn from.

Unconditional love isn't always a saving grace, and that is an unfortunate reality of life that not all love is always good or healthy despite how very much you love them or each other. Unconditional love can be selfish cruel and hurtful in the ways that people choose to express it when they don't want to be better for their loved ones. The play of trauma and victim blaming is terrible when you are both the abuser and victim and continue that cycle.

The only thing that Jiang Cheng "did better" than Madam Yu, was living to let go of his hates and insecurities enough to stop imposing them on to Jin Ling as well so the child could grow better and with actual role models that encourage a nurturing non-mocking environment first and foremost.

The reason why I believe Jk’s explanation about his tattoos is because it makes sense and the way he talks about it seems honest to me. There’s no hesitation, no shyness, nothing in the way he mentions that tattoo that makes me think something is up. The tattoos on his hand are Army related. The crown is for army, the letters are for army, the logo is for army.. everything on there is for army. He added the J for his name to further show his connection to army. The crown was placed first, so there was only three fingers left for the J. The pinky would be too small, placing it on the middle finger would make the design uneven, so to me the ringfinger is a logical one.

Sapnap’s Crew:

- Quackity. Most in danger from Dream. Sapnap isn’t sure if he believes the “tortured” tidbit, but he’s starting to think that it’s the most likely explanation. Especially since Dream — post-attempt-1 — is pretty obviously out for the man’s blood.

- Karl. Sapnap’s fiancé. Things between him and Quackity are tense: Karl’s memories came back, but he still FORGOT Quackity. They’re still broken up. And Sapnap’s not sure if he wants to take Quackity back himself: again, the torture.

- Bad. Gets on board later, after he’s privately tipped off that their new goal is to force-feed Dream some TLC. (This is done when Sapnap comes to him for help with setting a trap: a proposal he initially refuses.) He still feels guilty about his lack of action as a guard: he wants to do what he can to help stop the man from ripping himself to shreds.

- Foolish. He joins much later, following a few very odd conversations where Dream is quite obviously falling apart. He doesn’t know Dream, but Bad is his friend and he knows that Dream means something to him.

- Punz. Double agent at first. Then Sapnap’s motives take a turn and the server starts healing and he starts to rethink the plan in general. It’s thanks to him double-crossing Dream that they finally manage to catch him, in the end.

ok i absolutely adore the choice of characters here. because literally none of them get along canonically which fits your idea of the manhunt initiation being pretty slow (more time for dream to scamper in the woods)

foolish: knows that sapnap has the death book. literally has a wall with plans to kill both dream and sapnap. has decided that he could be too good for quackity and that he doesn’t really need him. is pranked by bad regularly. gets along with karl

punz: gets his stuff stolen a lot. bad’s son. sap’s brother. literally just tried to kill quackity. knows about the torture. his placement in this AU is awesome for a couple of reasons; (1) dream taking to the woods implies that punz and dream got separated after the slime war (unless dream actually made it back to prison), (2) punz is probably rather worried about dream by the time sap knocks on his door, (3) he has to pretend that he doesn’t know about the torture (awesome stand-still between quack and punz, coz neither of them would want to mention each others previous relationship with dream coz it would out themselves to sap), (4) quackity would know that punz is lying

911 ep 707 first watch reactions

Oh man, I'm actually not sure I have that much to say about this ep.

The entire plot with Mara and her brother Tyson was very sweet, very nice, and way too convenient. One day, shows are going to stop using the phrase, "There must be something you can do!" like it's some secret magic phrase, that makes this sentiment into a reality, AND turns the person addressed into someone willing to risk everything, in order to do that one thing they can do, which is usually something they're very much not supposed to... That said, Denny was sweet, Mara was lovely, her with Tyson was very endearing, and Henren continued to rule.

The storyline with Maddie was nicely handled, both her trauma, and the way Chim helped her use it to figure out the case and help save everyone from the stalker. My little Madney heart absolutely loved it. And Maddie's distress over a baby involved felt very real and understandable, when she's a mom herself now.

But then in a sense, it was clear this has no long term repercussions, other than bringing Brad into contact with Bobby. With his burn scars, and what we know about the fire that Bobby caused in the past, we can guess where this is headed. I trust that 911 will delve into this coming clash with the same humaneness with which it tackles most storylines.

But I'll be honest, I don't really like where Eddie's headed. I know Shannon scarred him deeply, but he was able to let go of her, and allow her to walk away from him twice while she was alive. It's weird if it's now being implied that the reason why he was never able to move on to another serious r/s is that he was stuck on her. The way she died was traumatic and painful, and it made sense that, even accepting that they as a couple were over, he had a hard time dealing with her death, but Eddie seemingly moved on in s4 at the latest. It feels a bit like they don't really know what to do with him, and how to move him on, so they keep going in circles with his character. Kinda like they were with Buck in s6. None of what we saw in that season helped Buck get to some major breakthroughs that we've seen in this one, so this current storyline with Eddie might end in the same way.

I'm not saying it doesn't have the potential to move him forward, and I'm sure it will be presented as if it has whether it actually does or doesn't (kinda like how 618 presented Buck and Natalia as a move forward, even though it very obviously was not), but right now, I'm not enjoying it. I also... even with this idea of having Eddie run into a Shannon look-a-like, I feel they could have gone in a lot of different ways, and the one where he goes on a date with her while having a serious gf he's essentially cheating on, it just doesn't feel great, or true to Eddie's values. Which can be the point, right? That sometimes we're so shaken up, we do stuff that's uncharacteristic. If that's where they'll take it, then it's working, 'coz right now, everything about this feels a little off. Let's hope they do something actually constructive with this, and give Eddie real progress (rather than just give Tim an opportunity to re-use an actress he already said he really likes).

Small mandatory Buddifer moment was really lovely, even if far from what my shipper heart would want. Then again, I honestly feel it's so funny that Buck is dating Tommy, while being married to Eddie, his actual baby daddy. If there aren't a lot of fics shipping all three men already, then IDK fandom.

He wakes up groggily, face in the snow. It’s cold, freezing and so damn loud. Heavy propeller is hitting the rocks, digging into the red, muddy snow, burying deeper and deeper, creating shallow ditches and valleys, river beds for the blood of the fallen from the crash. It’s the only sound he hears – the slowly dying engine, metal scraping against the side of a cliff, hurt whining of his dog. His vision is swimming, blurred, partially obstructed; dark vignette limiting his FOV to a single point – Ricochet. He can’t feel his legs moving, whole body numb, he doesn’t control it, and in an instant he’s hovering over his poor wounded pup.

“Shh, baby girl” he coos, taking her fragile head into his lap, stroking the bloodied wet fur. “You’re gonna be okay, my sweet girl” but hot tears are already staining his face, mixing with dried ichor from his own cuts. He knows she won’t. He’s seen this dream already. He tries to get up, dog in his arms but she’s just so damn heavy.

“No more snacks in between meals” he tries to crack a joke, but his palpitating heart betrays just how fucking terrified he is. The whines grow louder, more desperate and pleading. There’s a howl off in the distance. They gotta go, move, even if he feels like his whole body was made out of lead.

The snowstorm worsens witch each step, snow starting to get deeper and deeper. Blood drips from his hands, creates a trail. Snow reaches up to his hips and he can’t feel his hands. They’re in a maze, walls closing in. Did he pass that fallen tree already? That beak-shaped rock looks familiar. Rico is heavy in his arms, crying, staring at him with those big black eyes.

“I know, I know, I’m sorry. I know it hurts.”

Her whimpers play on repeat in his head, like a broken record, overlapping, distorting, duplicating; slowing down, speeding up.

“It’s okay honey” he tries again, the rocky maze loops, driving him insane.

He trips, they tumble. He manages to do a roll, Ricochet’s not quite as lucky. She falls down the ravine with a scared yelp, disappears in the snow. He follows, pulse pounding in his head, limbs stiff and frostbit, whole body shaking from the freezing temperatures.

He finds her, weak and trembling; in so much goddamn pain. He doesn’t want to move here but he can’t leave her like this either.

“I’m sorry, girl” he pulls out a knife. “I’m so fucking sorry” he weeps too, tears blur his vision and all he sees are brown and red stains on a perfectly white canvas of snow.

With blade to her skull, he apologizes over and over. He’s being controlled, like puppet on strings, those movements aren’t his.

He braces himself, for one perfect hit. He swings, but wakes up drenched in cold sweat, chest feeling tight, breathing heavy and fast.

Did you ever do the DNA test on Echo?

No, as I don't have enough for an Embark. 😭 I have been DYING to do it. So badly. Moreso now than I ever have been... Since all these health problems arose and his 10th birthday is on the 17th, it makes me scared I will never get the $ to get an embark before he dies & I don't think it's possible to test after death. All I would have is his ashes, paw print stamp and some fur anyways. Kinda hoping to get a canine tooth of his or maybe both, but idk if I'm gonna genuinely do that yet. All I know FOR SURE is want some tail fur, feet fur and ear fur, a paw print stamp and his ashes. I'd LIKE a canine tooth & a nose print stamp, but it's okay if that doesn't happen.

I want to send the embark in without a picture and without telling them any breeds so there's no chance for bias at all.

Embark is the most accurate out of everything out there, but like with every other DNA kit it only goes back 3 generations. So if he does BY SOME MIRACLE come back 100% pomeranian, I'd be SHOCKED coz that means the mix was further back than three gens and probably WAY further back considering the phenotypes of his littermates and the dam and sire.

I am betting there is Mittelspitz mixed in, but that would be so odd unless his line is an import. Coz it is EXTREMELY difficult to get a Mittelspitz in the US. There are only a couple breeders in the whole country and the Mittelspitz community in America is VERY tight knit. Mittelspitz usually come to America via imports as they are not typically seen in the US naturally or by breeding. The breeding that is happening is only preservation breeding because the community is that small. There's no bybs in Mittelspitz that I know of in America and I have heard breeders outside the US are very selective of what Americans they will sell their dogs to. So it'd be SUPER odd for him to have Mittelspitz mixed in but it's the only thing that makes sense to me. He is the size. His coat texture, colouring and markings are more Mittelspitz than pom. His conformation is much more Mittelspitz. But his temperament and biddability is Pomeranian to a t.

I only know so much about Mittelspitz coz I want to get into them SO badly coz after having Echo, who is 20 lbs at a healthy pet weight, I just don't want to get a pom-sized dog. They're so tiny. And I LOVE that. At least, I DID. But after experiencing a spitz that is 20 lbs, give or take, I have found my perfect size. And finding out what he is mixed with could help me figure out what purebred to look into next. I normally wouldn't stray out of spitzes unless it was a papillion, but if he is mixed with something non-spitz, that would make me pause and look at that breed for a few years to see what they're like to see if I should add them to the list.

Most of all, I am just sad that he is turning 10 and I haven't been able to do it yet. :/ Ik a lot of furmoms always say stuff like, "I don't care what he is! I love him so it doesn't matter! He is loved so that's what is best!" as if they are personally offended, implying that people who DNA test their supposed purebreds don't love them, but I just don't understand that POV coz it's quite the opposite for me.

Knowing what breeds he is will help me with understanding him better regarding his body language and verbal signals, it will help me with his training and will help me develop a deeper bond with him.

Just because my dog is byb/not well bred and I want to find out what is in him doesn't change how I feel about him or how much I love him. It never would. If it did, it would only make me love him more as I would be able to understand him on a much deeper level. So I just don't understand why furmoms get *so* offended when DNA tests get brought up.
