DAY 1: favorite unit

I'M BACK WITH A NEW CHALLENGE, YES. Forgive me, but I needed to blather on about something, so what better than a challenge to vent one's thoughts and urges?

Returning to the question. AKYR has been my favorite unit from the moment I first set foot in the paralive universe for more than one reason: first of all, it was the only unit whose songs I liked ALL (and I do mean ALL) [of course, I'm referring to the early days of the project, so we're talking about at least 4 years ago??]. Secondly, they have cats (and Hokusai, by extension). Then there's Satsuki, with his very…catarrhal... verses. Of course I couldn't help but love such a character, who was so reminiscent of my beloved Dice from Hypmic but voiced by the great Tasuku Hatanaka (who apparently seems to have a fondness for characters with red/orange hair). Satsuki was the only one who, for some strange reason, seemed to have more than one way to style his hair LOL. And then not even mentioning him…Iori. AKYR have Iori. This is self-explanatory (spoilers for a future challenge day). Joking aside, I loved AKYR right from the start because they have these peculiar arabesque/Chinese/pirate vibes that always put a lot of joy in me, since they remind me of summer. And to top it off, I also love how they're always so colorful! Of course, I can't deny that as I proceeded further and further into the story during these years, I began to feel more and more attracted by cozmez and Goku Luck as well… but I think supplanting the place that AKYR has in my heart is objectively difficult.

But also !! i would gladly love to hear about more of paralive from you, I really just scratched the surface of it to be honest... like after my hypmic phase I saw it as another franchise with really good music.

THAT'S WHAT I WAS THINKING YESTERDAY. it's like. the more you get deep into these franchises, the more dots you start connecting. as someone who's obsessed with voice acting, everytime i realize that x voice actor actually voiced a character i already knew and i absolutely had no idea i just end up staring at the wall in thought lmao (mostly trying to find any similarities among characters).

about paralive!!!! i'm very new to it and there are still some parts of the plot i don't understand (tho i hope the upcoming anime will fill these holes), but i already listened to all the groups :D it's weird coming from me, cause i literally never listen to rap ??? but yk, every group is different so you eventually end up finding something you like! the music is so good i swear, huge props to both the VAs and the producers cause some instrumentals are INSANE.

i love the characters' stories and this emphasis on trauma and stuff like that - there's so much angst in this series but since i'm so used to rejet franchises / enstars / aaside at this point nothing can hurt me anymore lol.

another thing i appreciate is the canon trans representation !! there are two trans characters (anne and aoi) and both of them are referred to with they/them pronouns in the official english translation <3

last but not least, i need to talk about my fav group :D i like pretty much everything about cozmez. first of all, their color palette! they're literally pastel colored and look so cute and soft. second, their duality. cause they LOOK cute but they can literally tear you to pieces, their music is so aggressive and dark, in some way it fits my tastes too lol. third, their story and bond. i am SO weak for twins cause everything they do brings me to tears; if you even add the fact that their past is absolutely heartbreaking, it's the perfect recipe to make me incredibly soft for them. like, i just need to protect them with my life. they deserve happiness :(

oh btw, i'm absolutely head over heels for the way kanata (the one with long hair) raps. i love raspy voices a normal amount i swear. i like nayuta's style too but damn it's hard to get used to tosshi-kun rapping 😭 still love him tho <3

Hey! Well to clarify, I'm still playing the game, I was just taking a break from translating. So yep, I got his card~🧸

And SK8 SEASON 2 HYPEEE!!! 🛹❤️ I can't wait to see what they have in store for us this time!! That'd be cool if there's more snowboarding in S2 🏂💙

And as for my opinion on the new paralive Rage songs:

Hit em up: Yo, this song is LITTT. I love it a lot. The beat sounded amazing from the preview and the full song did not disappoint. It's so cool and intense, and their voices sound amazing too. Probably one of my new fave cozmez songs

BE A STAR: OK, I LOVE THIS SONG A LOOOT. Like holy, cozmez and VISTY's songs are polar opposites but equally as good??? But yeah, I fell in love with this song haha I am all about upbeat, uplifting songs about trying your best and loving yourself and THIS SONG HITSSS

I like it a lot more than their first song and I definitely have VISTY on my radar now

大火傷 - License to Kill: Really good too!! Super AKYR style, in a good way!! Honestly, I don't have much else to say. It's good /adds to playlist

Fight for Liberty: Tbh, this one is probably my least fave of the Rage songs. I guess it's just not my style? I would still listen to it if it came on, but I prefer their first song more

New Characters + Asks

So everyones seen the new characters hopefully ! They’re all very cool. I’m personally indifferent with them because I have a stronger connection with the original four, though I do look forward to their music. 

Now, I will not be accepting asks about these characters for now. Same with Buraikan. There’s simply not enough content about them that would give me ideas to write about them. I’d also personally hate it if my headcanon felt wrong or ooc. So I’ll wait for the new drama cds to roll in and will eventually write for them.

Also I’d like to put my thoughts about Baek Chungsung. And I’m copying what I wrote on my twitter thread because I’m lazy:

heres my thoughts on baek chungsung bc no one asked for it but idc my opinions are ~sexy~ did yall. rlly. genuinely think. a project catered to the jp fem audience wouldnt have smth like this. like. idk bout yall but sussy/weird shit like this happens all the time in jp projects

from what ive seen. hell yall at one point the vas of cozmez even thought the kanata carrying nayuta bridal style was romantic. instead of whining... calling people weirdos for liking their dynamic. why dont u just ~look the fuck away~ theres literally idk 

6 or 7 OTHER GROUPS u can # support and love. theyre all just standing here. full on five star courses for u to enjoy smh. i personally dgaf abt anything. if the songs are good id support. as long as the fans dont implement problematic shit into real life. then we gucci.

Now why do I want to talk about Baek Chungsung ?

Because I know there will be Baek Chungsung fans and I will get seriously fucking mad if people hate on these fans just bc they awooga over him. I personally think that all feelings towards a character you like are valid. As long as you don’t implement problematic actions into real life.

I literally don’t give a shit. It’s not the end of the world that he exists. I just want to write to make people happy and if it means writing headcanons for Chungsung I will do it. If you don’t like him just look away. 

It’s your problem if you don’t like him. Don’t make it ours by complaining if we create content/like him.

There were 3 moments in the broadcast where cozmez were compared to a couple:

Yukke told that during the recording of the drama cds, the director told him that they kinda sound like boyfriend and girlfriend and not brothers.

They were talking to each other at one point and slipped into character, and their interaction made the others call out: “hey, stop acting like a couple!” XD

When they saw the new art of Kanata holding Nayuta bridal style, everyone said they looked couple-like.

Help I’m simping over more anime boys😭 I just found out about this new project called Paradox Live and I don’t know what to do😭

Anon, what have you done?!? I just listened to all of their individual unit tracks AND all of the individual drama tracks! They’re all so good! It’s got the same vibe as hypmic and I’m here for it! 

I think I like AKYR’s characters the best (they’re such a chaotic group I stg they have one braincell and take turns using it) and their song is such a bop, it’s so dancey. The Cat’s Whiskers takes a close second though since they seem like a really tight knit group and their vibe is a bit more chill (also their song is just so jazzy!). 

I went into it not expecting to like cozmez but I actually really love their sound! Their plotline is also really sad (poor orphan bbs) but very interesting! On that note, Bae is also a pretty interesting group with unique individuals and great style (so much angst in one group, I can’t deal).

I love that all the groups need the prize money from Paradox for a specific reason that’s super important to them. I’m actually kind of invested in it now and I want to know who ends up winning (or at least where the plot ends up going).

Hello! The new songs are so good. I can't wait to hear the others. I'm excited for VISTY and TCW. About my opinion of the new songs...

1Nm8 - I'm in love with this song and team. Their voices match so well, and I love how the rap blends with this song style.

Cozmez - They had a different style than I expected but it's pretty good. Always a pleasure to listen their songs.

Amprule - I ended up falling for this song, the chorus sounds amazing. I love the contrast between their voices and also the elegant aura in the instrumental.

AKYR - Their songs are always so catchy and this isn't the exception. It really feels like a festival, the song is so bright. I love it (I need to replay it for a while...)
