I NEED to get this off of my chest.

So I started playing a few visual novels on itch.io, and one of them happened to be The Kid At The Back. Now I want to preference this by saying that gaming in general isn’t anything new to me, something that I’ve been doing for 15+ years, and when it comes to yandere tropes, I tend to enjoy the depravity of it all (depending on how far it goes….sometimes I just be pissed off the whole time) ANYWAYS, I started playing the game because I saw a lot of people raving about it and was recommended it a few times. I was like, why not? Something new and interesting to experience. I went into this with a brief synopsis of the game. Read the itch.io page, talked to other gamers, ya know, the whole nine. Anyways, I start playing it, and immediately I am snatched up by Crowe. Fell for the man right off the bat. Not only is he beautiful on the outside but he’s beautiful on the inside. How can you not fall for such a beautiful person.

First Playthrough Reenactment:

Oikawa hears his phone buzzing and lightening up the dark room. He groans. Who the hell is spamming him at four in the morning. From the other side of the room he hears Iwaizumi shifting and waking up. “Trash PUT YOUR PHONE ON SILENT!!” He yells and puts his pillow over his head, trying to shut down the annoying sounds.

Oikawa turns around and grabs his phone. Makki. Who else should it be, he rolls his eyes and is about to put it on silent mode when his eyes scan over the recent message

4:07 , Makki:

“OMG AHAHA IT’S CONFIRMED YOU’RE NOT THE BEST LOOKING!!!”

Wait, wait WAIT! He is what?!

He huffs and opens the chat, “Most handsome and beautiful Haikyuu faces”.

TF is this video?! Without reading whatever Makki also set him, he clicks on the video, skipping to the top 5, because where else should he be?

Iwaizumi was already falling back to sleep when he hears a scream. He shots right up, falling off the couch and looking around the dark room confused. “IWA-CHAN!!! MY WHOLE EXISTENCE WAS A LIE?!!!” Oikawa screams again. Iwaizumi rubs his hands over his face, knowing that he wont get to sleep anytime soon. Standing up he walks to Oikawa while muttering: “Your whole existence is a JOKE.”

“I would be offended BUT this is way more offending ?! IN NO WAY - NOOOOOO WAY - this gamer boy from Nekoma is prettier than I AM?!” He pouts and throws his phone somewhere on his bed. Now curious and already seeing a new chance to make fun of his best friend Iwaizumi plops down on the bed and reaches for the phone. He checks the title of the video and huffs, “You really get offended by some stranger ranking us?” He rolls his eyes. “You’re number 40.” Oikawa responds, arms still crossed, pout visible on his face.

He won’t admit it, yet he’s still a little bit offended. He’s better than 40 right? RIGHT?!

“Let’s watch the whole video.” He restarts it and places the phone on his lap so the both of them can watch.

“lol who even are they?” Iwaizumi looks confused at the pictures.

“They aren’t even worth being on the SAME LIST AS ME” Oikawa huffs.

Gamer’s Triangle

Since the game didn’t explicitly have Misumi and Itaru talking to each other when they meet, I used the words from the anime, hope you don’t mind :3

I also entertained the idea of Itaru’s first words to Misumi unintentionally being when he’s gaming and hears Misumi, but thinks he’s Kamekichi so asks for snacks or something XD Think this would end up with Misumi being revealed earlier though, so didn’t go down that route, but it’s certainly fun to think about!

“Overpowered”

Misumi hears it, and something feels familiar, but the smell of onigiri is too enticing and there are people chasing him so he doesn’t think on it until later

“Me? I’m Misumi”

Takes Itaru a good while because he’s always wondered who tf would be calling themselves a triangle

Doesn’t click until they’re both in their rooms

Misumi’s sitting on the floor inventorying his triangles

Misumi cautiously hands Itaru a triangle, his sleeve rolled up to reveal the words on his forearm

Blinking, Itaru takes a second to process what he’s seeing, before telling Misumi the words upon his back

Misumi asks if he can hug Itaru

That’s about as close as they are for a while

The two of them are very hesitant around each other. There’s a tension arising from wanting to get to know each other with the additional knowledge that they’re soulmates, and this is further amplified by their seemingly complete opposite lifestyles and habits.

They get closer slowly

Misumi loves to cuddle with Itaru, fingers tracing over the words on Itaru’s back

Itaru will often kiss the word on Misumi’s arm when Misumi hugs him from behind, leaning over his shoulders

The words being so simple, they turn into inside jokes and pet names

Whenever Misumi slings Itaru over his shoulder or gently tugs on Itaru’s sleeve and invites Itaru on a walk/triangle hunt, Itaru will say “overpowered” before laughing

One of the first times Itaru hugs Misumi in front of others, Misumi’s playing around with the others in the dorm. Itaru sees Misumi and hugs him from behind, asking what they’re doing. Surprised by Itaru’s actions, Misumi momentarily short circuits and the only thing he manages to say is “overpowered”. Misumi now uses the phrase as well whenever Itaru convinces him to relax and chill with him or calms him with affection

Misumi’s calling Itaru “his triangle” is one of the greatest terms of endearment Misumi can bestow. Eventually, Itaru calls Misumi “Triangle” as a term of endearment as well, but he first started calling him it as a joke, referencing how he interpreted the words upon his skin

I am. so fucking tired. but I’m also late asf for Eden-6 stuff to the point it got its video release, so here I am playing catch up.

tl;dr: swamp planet!! we get some cool shots of Alitair and Aurelia, i, surprise surprise, still do not trust mr. wainwright, i tried to form an argument that these ruins we see across the planet are abandoned Atlas facilities/ships, but ~who knows~. also i would (and probably will) die for the saurians. i love them so much. one of them has a funky bone hat. it’s great. also also “stop the CoV before they gain control” [looks at trailers and behind closed doors intro] ... uh oh gamers...

Ambermire I am guessing is one of the more swampy areas? Jakob’s Manor is obvious, and Fort Sunshine I’m guessing is that abandoned facility we’ve been seeing around the trailers. unfortunately we don’t get too good of a look at the fortress (shakes fist at gearbox) but we do get some other stuff!

also the writing on the back there makes me even more convinced this is Atlas facility. on Promethea, the parts of the Meridian city are labeled with these unique symbols (so far i’ve seen blue and red) and this red one looks like it fits the mark perfectly.

more red plants. i like how different this can look from athenas, yet still have very similar foliage. outstanding move, gearbox.
