one thing i’m really realizing about tv-watching lately is that i’m reaching a point where i can’t hold all these shows in my head. it takes so long to have a new season come out that i’ve forgotten all the details of what happened in the previous season unless it’s a show i’ve watched multiple times, which it’s usually not. then i feel like i’m doing wrong by the show by not rewatching the previous season(s) so i can watch the new one as the creators intended it to be watched, with all the emotional threads from the previous season getting picked up and returned to. like, i want those things to HIT the way they’re intended to, but usually they don’t for me in this tv-watching model because it’s been so long that i don’t remember the details of what’s going on or how i was feeling about everything going on on the show where it last left off. i can’t shake the feeling that i need to rewatch the whole show before the new season so it can register with me correctly ... but there are only so many hours in a day, i can’t do that for every single show i watch that drops a new season every year or every couple of years!

tl;dr this is why i am dreaming of majorly cutting down on the amount of tv i watch. my brain just can’t take it in this current format! there are already so many new seasons of shows i loved that i just haven’t seen for this reason. i find myself actively craving, like, limitations to my viewing so i don’t feel like my brain is going to explode. often i daydream of canceling all my streaming services except pbs passport and getting really into antiques road show and this old house.

i’m going to say something so bold and it is that people can use fanfiction and stuff as a way to imagine the characters from their favorite shows living the lives that they, the fanfiction writer, wish they could have, and it doesn’t mean these fans don’t appreciate the Themes of the show or don’t understand the core elements of the characters’ relationship as portrayed in the show. and this is fine. it is silly to criticize things like this. clearly you all want different things out of the fanfiction you read and/or write. it’s clearly possible to love a fucked up dynamic and still not care about accuracy in one’s own writing. this is fine. ragging on the people who change or exaggerate certain character traits and ignore other ones is not going to make those people write more of the deliciously toxic gory angsty romance that you want to see??? like. be reasonable.

Thought I would explain my recent good omens drawings a little ->

I've been imagining an au where, to avoid the events of revelations, aziraphale and crowley escape to a constructed wilderness together to hide. In time they will be summoned again to carry out their roles in the apocalypse/second coming, but in the years until then they manage to carve out a little peace.

When visited by angels, demanding that aziraphale fight with them, crowley becomes a great serpent that wraps itself about aziraphale's waist, aziraphale becoming grave and refusing to return, insistant that god herself has spoken to him and he knows his role. When visited by demons, aziraphale becomes what appears to be a flock of small birds that chatter in crowley's ears, but when observed closely begin to resemble tiny angels once again. Crowley is flippant and acts as though the world outside hasn’t occurred to him, brushing the demons aside and frustrating them with his cheerful nature. One feigns knowledge, the other ignorance. In this way they repel their respective sides and hide one another from them.

Still working out the exact events but it's been fun/comforting to sketch out for now :)
