This evening, I asked the cards “What do I need to know about my internal critic?” 🌟 There is a voice inside my head that is always pushing me to create more, to be continually creating and when I’m not, it gets upset and makes me angry. It almost hurts when I’m not writing or painting or creating something. I try to hold all of the idea I have to myself, try to do everything that my internal critic tells me that I *should* be doing. It’s gotten to the point where that kind of drive feels like home, mostly because it’s what I know, what I’ve always held on to. 🌟 This evening, I found myself going down that path again. It’s not even the end of the first month of the year and my internal critic was pushing me to sit and write, to just write anything, to create for the sake not of creating, but of putting out more work as if to justify my existence. I held that thought and looked at it, studied it for a moment. I didn’t need to hold on to it any longer. What I create doesn’t equal my worth. I’m not worth less because I’m in not writing. 🌟 So, I asked the cards “How can I forge a new direction for myself?” 🌟 I just have to choose a different direction. I don’t have to decide what I’m doing right away, right now or this evening. I can take my time choosing what I want to do and follow the words when they come to me. I need to look at words with joy again, let them take me on a voyage. I need to fall in love with words once more and let them come from my spirit, not my mind. I also need to learn balance. That was one of my new years resolutions, to let myself balance writing, play and rest. The Creative Life- Our Supporters, Glam Teams, Family, Friends and continuing on the path we Choose

On a night like last night when we’re seeing all sorts of gorgeous gowns and all kinds of film creatives and creators see their dreams come true on the Oscars, I just want to take a moment to thank a few people...just because. So, firstly, thank you, Monica Mahoney-Adler - for creating this gorgeous gown for me to wear to the Modernism Week red carpet Gala at the Christopher Kennedy Compound last week...and, for making me feel like a Palm Springs starlet in the 1960s if only for one night. And, secondly - thank you, THANK YOU, Jake Helgren Autumn Federici Hish and Ninth House Films for casting me in a film that I get the supreme privilege of shooting today in which I not only get to act...and, not only get to sing on camera...but in which I get to sing one of my OWN songs that I WROTE on my own almost a decade ago when I lived in Nashville...on camera...and, get to shoot it all on my own beloved mama’s birthday. As creative folk, it’s so easy for us to focus on the big awards and the big shows and the big moments, but in reality, it’s all of these little moments and all of these long days of work which sometimes feel like they’re going nowhere and never getting noticed and, yet, much like the dots on this dress - all of these shiny, little dots of glory and accomplishment are what make up the life of a creative. I’m so excited for all of the shiny dots thus far and am over the moon that I get to add one more little gleaming dot to my crazy trajectory of a creative life today.✨✨ So, congratulations to all of the winners and nominees last night - and, congratulations also to all of the creatives out there who work hard every day creating pieces of art and entertainment for us all to enjoy. It’s not an easy life we choose but good golly, it sure can be a rewarding one.💗 And, oftentimes, it feels just as busy and blurry as this photo...and, I love - and, am grateful - for every minute of it. - "can't stop looking at the stars" I've been contemplative lately...it is an unsettling feeling at the best of times, this round is making my skin want to crawl. Creativity surging, rearing it's ugly head...i often wonder if my creativity is sparked somehow by these strange moods. Times like these, it's almost difficult to wrestle the creative urge with all the other shit going on. It makes me feel trapped...like if i don't take advantage of the moment, I'll see it all slip away like i have so many times over the years. I feel like it takes me forever to finish things, but maybe that's just the process. Maybe i have to live with things a bit before i can release them to the wild. Though it gets kinda hard when you feel as though you're shouting into the abyss, or tossing your photos and songs in after your screams. This morning, I asked the cards “How do I practice stillness today?” I drew the 2 of Swords, the Ace of Swords and the 7 of Cups from the Ethereal Visions Luna Tarot. 🌟 Even when I’m not creating something, my mind is always trying to think of what it will create next, how it will finish the chapter, what this character will say, how I will solve this plot hole. I’ve been trying to find balance between rest, creating and play as I know a life with only creation will leave me empty. ⭐ I’m drawn to the Ace of Swords in the centre. On the left, it shows me holding on to everything, unwilling to let go of all the projects that I have going on. This is the mindset that I have to do everything, that it doesn’t matter how tired I am, I have to get it all done. On the right, there’s all the distractions, all the characters speaking at once, all the words waiting patiently to be written. In the centre is the Ace of Swords. It cuts through all of that, bringing the mental clarity that I need to move forwards. 🌟 In order to practice stillness, I need to let those Swords that I’m holing on to fall to the ground and turn away from the distractions within me.
