Nirvana no Legends (Crescent Ballroom), Tacoma, WA. 20 de Janeiro de 1990. "Eu estava no Crescent Ballroom no centro de Tacoma, onde pela primeira e única vez pensei que o Nirvana era melhor do que (the) Melvins. O Crescent era um lugar realmente maltrapilho que já foi uma dancehall legal. Apenas os policiais, os viciados, as putas, os gangsteres, os fãs de punk e os despreocupados ficariam lá à noite. Neste show, o Nirvana foram os melhores que eu já vi". - Aaron Stauffer (ex-Seaweed) Logo no incio do show, durante "School", uma briga acontece ao lado do palco. Era o baixista do Mudhoney, Matt Lukin, que discutia com os "bouncers" (seguranças de palco) após ser repreendido por subir no palco. Durante "Floyd The Barber" ele sobe novamente para mergulhar na platéia. Quando a banda tocava "Dive", lá vai Lukin de novo. Desta vez ele corre por tras da bateria para não ser pego. Mais confusão ao lado do palco depois de "Scoff". "Veja, eles estão lutando lá agora? Não há motivo para isso!", diz Krist após avistar a movimentação. Kurt grita: "Ei, esse é nosso amigo, esse é nosso amigo". Desta vez o amigo de longa data, Dylan Carlson (Earth) também está envolvido. Krist Novoselić cantarola "All You Need Is Love", dos The Beatles, talvez para tentar acalmar os ânimos. Nisso, Lukin sobe no palco e se queixa dos seguranças no microfone: "Esse babaca aqui está tentando quebrar meu dedo!". Enquanto isso, Carlson conversa com Kurt no canto. Agora Krist canta "If I Fell". Passam-se alguns minutos até o show poder continuar mas ele continua (com guitarra desafinada em "Big Cheese" mas continua). Depois de "Molly's Lips" Lukin chegou a subir no palco pelo lado de Kurt. Mal pisou lá e já foi violentamente jogado para fora por um dos seguranças. Fora isso e o cabo da guitarra desconectado no final de "Spank Thru", o show correu normalmente. E sim, Matt Lukin ainda subiu no palco mais uma vez, mas só para avisar que estava bem: "Estou vivo", disse ele. Crumb September 16, 2019 at Crescent Ballroom, Phoenix AZ [Touring for their Jinx release]

I don’t know how, but this DIY band has made it in a roundabout way... selling out shows without even having a proper record release... and now touring their proper self released record. I remember hearing their frenchy, jazzy and chill vibes not unlike sterolab for the first time a couple years ago and placing them in the pass list in my yearly SXSW research. Songs like Nina, Locket and So Tired got my attention and off their latest, Part III and M.R. continue their aesthetic.

It took me their third--as far as I know, tour to finally see them at Crescent Ballroom this past September. So glad I did.

One thing I did to close of my 27th chapter in life was go see @grieves, @mousepowell and the talented Danny Torgerson (Daaaaaaaaany🤘🏾) it was an amazing show, these guys killed it. Admittedly Grieves made me miss home, even preformed a few oldies that felt like biking down Lyndale. (Rhymesayers stay up ✊🏾mpls made) Mouse is an incredible performer and he was pumped to be preforming in his home town, just that feeling of being home/familiar was a vibe that night. And of course Danny put that trumpet on us and laid my edges 😂🙌🏾 epic show gents. Also, 3 beers in I got this MySpace selfie tryna not piss on myself. Man, oh man. I am still at a loss for words for how well this past week went. I’ve always wanted to attend a tour like this, and fortunately I was able too this time around. So, I decided to wing it and purchase tickets to 5 dates of the Barriers west coast leg back in April, not even knowing if I was gonna do any of the dates. Once my birthday came around, it felt set in stone that I was actually doing this. Rented a car, and drove down to LA to pick up @_veronicamur officially starting the adventure. Never driven out of state before, I always knew I’d have too at some point for a show. I attended the Phoenix(Tucson was cancelled), San Diego, Anaheim, and West Hollywood dates. Phoenix was disgustingly hot, but it was a hell of a fun time! San Diego was a chill night, and basically bounced around and danced with everyone. On our off day, I convinced Vero to come along with me to visit #ToTheStars in Encinitas, because obviously! Can’t go to SD without purchasing some AVA merch. We had VIP(thanks to Vero) for Anaheim which was definitely a new experience since I never do those. Anaheim was the usual hot, sweaty, messy kind of show. Wouldn’t have it any other way! Then West Hollywood, getting shoved up to the 2nd row and proceeding to fucking have a blast was pretty damn amazing. I made sure to say fuck it and have as much fun possible. Overall, I’m very grateful I was able to do this. I handled the driving pretty well, the terrible eating, low on sleep, but it was totally worth it. I haven’t felt so happy in so long. I stress so much, and my anxiety/depression is a constant battle every single day. Shows are truly what makes me happy, and damn right I am happy. Thank you to @frankieromustdie and the Future Violents for being so kind and great every night. Thank you to @_veronicamur for joining me on this run. Thank you to anyone who remotely even talked to me and chilled. I truly needed this. Until next tour; now, back to my job of music retail + hanging out with my parents everyday.
