She swallows down her hurt and continues. She has to know. “Did you have sex with her?”

He looks away, jaw working. “Technically.”

“Technically? How do you technically have sex with someone?”

“I touched her, she didn't touch me.”

Chloe is too furious to note the concession. “How could you - how could you do this to me, Lucifer?”

His eyes flare red with anger. “How could I? What, exactly, did you expect me to do?”

“Not to have sex with my future counterpart!” she shouts.

What exactly is Scrivener?

It's a writing program designed for authors. It helps you organize documents, notes and outlines, concepts, research for easy access and reference.

I guess there is a bit of a learning curve so I was watching YouTube tutorials for it. Since my Two Chloes au's outline is a MESS I was going to see if using Scrivener would help me put it in order a little better.

Hi, again, sorry to bother you, but do you think you could gi e me some writing advice? I haven't really written anything fic or otherwise since I left another fandom. But I'm starting to get inspired again to maybe write for Lucifer. But while I have ideas that seem great in my head, I go to write it down and it's like anxiety gets in the way and I can't seem to get it out. So I was wondering if you have advice on how to push past that or at least maybe some words of encouragement? Thanks!

Well, let's get one thing straight. You are NEVER a bother. You hear me? NEVER. On the off chance I'm having a shit day I might take a bit to reply, but it is never a bother.

Okay! Now for the second thing, learn to be just a liiiiiiiiitle bit of an asshole. Not a lot, but just a little. Enough to where you say to yourself: this is good. I know it's good and it's still good even after I write it down. Even if the story pleases no one but myself, I like it. I worked hard on it and that's good.

That can be really hard! Writer's insecurity can be debilitating. Pitch the idea to a friend, see what they think! Chat about your stuff, get excited, get other people excited! Hey, I'm excited!

Until Lucifer, it had been almost ten years since I had posted any of my work and I was so nervous. Would people like it? Would anyone notice me? But I had to remember that I do this, ultimately, for myself and secondarily for the adulation :p

Confidence is sexy, and readers can sense someone who is proud and certain of their work.

Remember that it's all for fun and the love of a show that's made an impact on you. Don't worry too much about good ideas, okay? Because the ones you think are stupid might be the very ones that pick up steam. I've got a story about an asexually created angel soul baby. Like. Don't worry about if an idea is good enough, write an idea that you love or think is funny or interesting.

Odds are, your readers will, too!

Thank you so much! I can say that I've at least tried over the past couple of months to get something on the page, to get it out of my head at least. I do get that I need to not be afraid of putting myself out there. But my anxiety just loves to override that for me, you know? So I guess I just need to get over that initial barrier. Also do you know of anyone willing to beta/bounce ideas off of? Not for now, but in the future? (Also an asexual angel soul baby sounds like an awesome story!)

hey, you are so welcome! If it’s just getting stuff down on paper that’s stopping you, don’t even worry about posting it yet. Just write! Even if it’s garbage, garbage writing is still infinitely better than no writing. Also, for me, I rarely write in order. That scene that keeps looping in your head? Write it down. Dialogue that you have no idea where it will go? Don’t worry about it, write it down. Vague plotline that you might want to tackle? You got it - write it down. 

I have a whole document of just fragments that don’t belong in any story, yet. And then, suddenly, they might work somewhere. Writing doesn’t have to be script polished the first go round, especially when just getting something down is hard enough! 

I don’t think there’s a set place to pick up Lucifer betas here on tumblr, but if you put a call out, most author’s are happy to take a look if they’re free. Ao3 has a beta finding feature (although I don’t know how it works). Just posting about your work on tumblr or twitter is good for getting feedback (which is what I did and how i subsequently made some friends and found some betas).

Make sure you stick it in the tags like #luciferfanfiction or #deckerstarfanfiction so folks that don’t follow you can see it. :D

This is a last name thing but my last name is "Lord." Seriously. And you think it would be cool but I get sooo many jokes and puns about it. My dad tells me that growing up they used to get prank calls around dinner time saying things like "Hi, is this the Lord's house? We're just calling to say we are going to be late to the last supper." Those are the jokes we have to live with lol.

that is amazing and im super jealous. I’d take the jokes, tbh. (although can you imagine me with two bible names already, having the last name Lord? id be a biblical powerhouse)

Set after 4x10 with a little, tiny, itty bitty change to the end scene.

"What meaning would life have if one's world was destroyed? Well, Lucifer's world was no longer Earth, it was no longer the free will, the chicks and the booze it offered, no. His world was the blonde, stubborn, tenacious and caring woman who would wake up to an empty bed and a broken heart."

Lucifer and Chloe have to say their goodbyes right before Lucifer goes back to Hell. All the beautiful time they spent together, all the memories of their partnership do nothing but fill their minds up and cloud their judgment. And Lucifer does leave because it's what he has to do, the prophecy must not be fulfiled. However, no one expects the little miracle that's left behind on earth.

Or the AU, post-season 4 nobody asked for where Lucifer leaves and Chloe has to glue her broken pieces back together without her partner, only to find later on that the devil left her something for her to remember him.
