Reuniting with Dena and a bitter foe from your past - Emos;

Alliance talks with Dena;

Choose to accompany Dena and Elora to secure an alliance; OR

Remain behind because politics aren't your thing and spend it with a companion of your choice;

Learn more about Dena's reasons for joining an alliance;

Deal with the weight of Dena's secrets;

Celebrate or worry about the success of the alliance;

Dance with one of four companions;

Smooch, hug or chat with one of your four companions;

Choose to stay the night with Prince Irus or Queen Elora; and

Optional explicit NSFW, fade-to-black or fluff scenes with Prince Irus or Queen Elora.

There are a lot of scenes that I didn't include in the chapter due to time constraints. Please note that while there are 'missing scenes', all choices are complete and won't lead you to a blank page. The major scenes of Chapter Eight are currently included in the demo. Chapter Eight Word Count: approximately 139 663 words. Total Word Count: approximately 585 173 words.

Chapter Eight is the last chapter of the public demo. Future chapters, including the epilogue, will be shared only with my Patrons until the game is released. The game will be a paid game, however, a price has yet to be set and I will announce that closer to the game's completion. While this is the final chapter of the public demo, I will still be very active on Tumblr so feel free to ask any questions and look out for previews and updates.

Just read crown of exile from @ramonag-if and it was amazing! I couldn’t help but draw my mc along with Prince Irus and a sketch of Anu. I’m in love with all the characters though so maybe I’ll draw the other ros too.

As you step through the doorway, you are greeted by the sight of the banquet. The hall has been transformed into one of splendour and extravagence. A long table sits in the centre of the room, with nearly a hundred chairs placed on either side. Around you, servants hurry around the room, carrying trays of drinks and food. You notice Prince Irus seated across a olive skinned man, as they laugh loudly. Hurrying towards where he sits, you finally seem to catch his attention. Blinking, Prince Irus' eyes widen at your appearance and for a moment, you wonder if you have intruded some sort of private discussion.

"Rubari," he breathes. "You look... I mean..." ©

A warning: ahead is a very very long essay-slash-ramble about Salyra, a character from Crown of Exile by @ramonag-if . I have a lot of thoughts about her complexities as a character as well as the tragedies of her relationship with the MC, so I figured I should just put them all into words before I explode. If you haven't read CoE yet, please do — you won't regret it!! Especially if you're a huge fan of complicated, "okay wow this hurts" family angst and heart melting romance. 🥹✨✨

Salyra is someone who possesses the self-created tragedy of a hero. When Salyra believes in something, she believes in it with her whole heart, and she'll stop at nothing to fight for it. She's... the hero that many adore, but hurts those closest to her, directly or indirectly. Like her family, who've heard nary a word from her for all those years, not knowing if she was alive or dead. Like the MC.

Salyra's sacrificed countless things for her cause, and those sacrifices sometimes involved the hearts of those who loved her.

She's willful. Willful and determined. Great qualities for a rebellion's leader/figure of inspiration; not so much for when you're trying to patch up a relationship with your child who had long thought you dead, and had suffered for it.

It's like she thinks that if she pushes enough, if she shows MC the depths of her sincerity, it'll make MC accept her after all those years. It doesn't. For certain MCs, anyway. It only serves to push them further away.

Right, this is going to swerve into more specific territory. I'll be going into a little more detail on my MC's relationship with Salyra. The relationship between Salyra and my MC just... fascinates me.

Salyra is the high priestess, adored by the people of Ishari. MC... is MC. They were discriminated, mistreated, and followed with gazes of spite and distrust in Cyre because of their Ishari blood. Once MC returned to Ishari, they were greeted with — surprise, surprise — even more gazes of distrust and suspicion! Partly because of their blood guard parentage, partly because of their loyalty to the exiled prince, etc etc.

You stare at Rana, suddenly conflicted with anger and betrayal. You never wanted a sister, you only wanted a mother. Rana stares at you, suddenly gripping onto Mama's arm and twisting behind her, as if afraid to look up at you. A look of disappointment flashes through Mama's eyes, but it is directed at you, not Rana. It is a look you remembered Mama using when anyone would upset you as a child and now, you find yourself bearing the full force of her frown. You would laugh were it not so painful to think about the life you were robbed while Mama evidently moved on.

"Avriel," Mama murmurs. "You are my son and I know that I have not always been there for you, but I would like to remedy that. We cannot gain back what we have lost, but we have time now to find each other again."

"I need to go," Mama murmurs. "Rana needs me, Avriel. So does Danzor."

For a moment, you catch sight of your mother, but she does not see you. After returning to the temple, she has washed and changed, the priestesses who had been chanting earlier, now crowding around her. Anu called Mama the High Priestess and you cannot help but wonder just how long she has been in Ishari.

It's these. These scenes. Salyra has built a life in Ishari, a life without the MC. A loving family, a figure loved by the people... this is all that MC knows of who Salyra is now. The Salyra presented to him is a hero. A golden existence, a light in the dark, fearless leader of the rebellion.

(They need you? What about me, Mama? Do I not need you as well?)

(Those who had looked at you with suspicion now look at her with respectful, even admiring eyes. Salyra has a life here. But you — you are just the same. You are an outsider still, whether in Cyre or Ishari.)

Avriel is genuine and soft hearted, but he has a spine of unbending steel. He is proud. All those years mourning Salyra, grieving for her, only to find her alive and well in Ishari and with a family that she so clearly (and here we have a peek into Avriel's pain induced bitter thoughts, because honestly, that sad and angry child from so long ago never truly left him) prioritizes over him.

It's like his life has been rendered into a bitter joke.

What does Salyra want from him? Does she expect him to come and go as she pleases, there when she wants him and gone when she doesn't? Is he expected to wait in the wings as Salyra tends to her new family, only playing the part of a loving son when her eyes turn to him once more? Salyra, his mama. Salyra, now the head priestess, looked upon with respect by the very people who had looked at him with such suspicion.

(^ Above is Avriel's current thought process. Yes, he's a real mess. Irus is having a hell of a time soothing him, as the usual gentle-eyed man is currently very much like a wounded cat with its claws out and teeth bared, eyes set in a glacial glint.)

And honestly, those words might be quite unfair to Salyra. We do not know what she's experienced. Not yet. But are the words left spoken and unspoken between mother and child always fair? I think not. Salyra's expectations of MC could be called unfair as well, depending on the MC you're playing.

I just. I just find this so tragic. Salyra is a deeply complex character. Her greatest strengths are also her deepest flaws. Ironic, how the qualities that made her a hero could be the very thing that chills the heart of her child. I remember you said that Salyra will wise up on how to treat the MC in a future chapter, but wow. The tragedy of Salyra being her own undoing and the detoriation of the relationship between lauded mother and outcast child is just. Wow.

Also. leaving this here because Irus + Nearly Feral with Rage MC is everything:

You nearly laugh, the bitter rage that has been festering beneath your skin like a swarm of wasps, threatens to erupt from your skin. Prince Irus settles a hand on your shoulder and instantly, you are looking at him, noting the concern in his gaze. All at once, the rage leaves you, until you can finally breathe once more.

The realms have found peace and the era of bloodshed is over. But many have escaped judgment for the cruelties inflicted on those who stood against Virion and his soldiers dressed in red. Reprise your role as the main character from Crown of Exile and journey into the wilds in search of those who plot against the newly crowned King Irus and the stability of the realms. Your journey will be a difficult one, but together with a loyal steed and your wits for survival, you will set out to complete your task. Crowning Glory is a bonus game which is rated 17+ for violence, vulgar language and mentions of fictional war.

This game was previously only available to my Patrons but I figured that it'll be a while before I can continue working on it so for now, I'm releasing it to the public. Please note that the game is still very much in development and I'll likely post a completed version once the main game is completed. This is not a sequel to Crown of Exile but acts as a short game that takes place after the events of the main game (where the main goal of Irus reclaiming his throne succeeds).

The second part of the mini-update for Chapter 9 is now up and playable for Ishari Tier Patrons.

New to the update:

Added around 37K of code and words. Word count will probably range between 30-35K;

Added more name options at the beginning of the game;

A late-night chat with Zikar (optional);

The Vinia family one-on-one scenes;

A memorial ceremony (optional) to honour Yara and Ahlf;

Dialogue scenes with Rana; and

Choose to give Rana her gift (based on earlier decisions).

This is the family portion of the chapter, so you'll not get any RO scenes this time. It mostly deals with the arrival of the Vinia family in Ishari, so if the family or Rana doesn't interest you, I suggest waiting for the next (and final) portion of Chapter 9's update.

Chapter 8 Release Dates

I hope everyone is having a lovely Christmas Eve 🎄 Testing is quickly drawing to a close in Chapter 8, so I wanted to let you know the release dates in advance.

25 December 2023: Patrons of Cyre Tier and up;

28 December 2023: Patrons of the Nomad Tier;

1 January 2024: Public Release.

Please note that Chapter 8 will be the last chapter update for the public demo. Further chapters will be released only to my Patrons and the full game will be for sale on Steam and itch.io when it is completed.

Chapter 8 Progress Update

I really wasn't going to make this update because I thought I'd surprise you all instead - but I'm also really bad at keeping secrets or doing surprises, so here it is. Chapter 8 is officially completed. It's currently being tested and next week, my Patrons will receive the update first and a week later, it will be playable for the public.

Now, excuse me while I go and curl into a ball and binge on some true crime series.

Crown of Exile Progress Update

I thought that I'd pop in to let everyone know that the main scenes of Chapter 8 are completed 🎉 That said, I am not done writing - there are two planned NSFW/fade-to-black/fluffy alternative scenes left to go. My hope is to have them ready by the end of the week and then testing will commence, so there should be a Christmas update coming next week.

Thank you to everyone who has liked, followed and sent in asks over the past few months. I know I've not been very active for a while but I promise you that I do check in almost daily and I'm so thankful for your support ❤️️

Once Chapter 8 is completed, I will be a lot more present and I will answer all the asks that have been lying in my inbox.

I'm not surprised that the majority of you all clicked the smut button faster than I could 😋Expect a side story featuring an AU version of events featuring the MC and Irus soon. It will not be full of NSFW content. There will be exposition and other narrative gimmicks techniques. I apologise if you thought you were getting a full NSFW story that started with smut and ended with more smut. But you will get smut, so rest assured.

New to this chapter:

The entirety of chapter 7,

Meet Danzor and Rana OR read some of Ahlf's letters to Salyra,

Spend some time on your own to reflect on life, pray or write to your Vinia family,

Learn more about the divine blessings from Anu,

Unlock your divinity, get hurt trying or refuse it altogether,

Recover in Salyra's private chambers and possibly learn the reason for your birth,

Spend some time with a companion of your choice or choose to rest alone with the aid of a healer,

Smooch one of the four ROs, and

Learn about the plans to visit the Southern Islands.

Other things to note:

Relationship stats have been changed from numerical/bar stats to text stats.

The chapter still needs a bit more fleshing out for certain scenes.

Please note that chapter 8 will likely be the last update for the public demo.

If you find any bugs, it's best to report them here. The form lets me find them easily when I do fix them.
