Crowsnest Highway, AB/BC
The Crowsnest Highway is an east-west highway in British Columbia and Alberta, Canada. It stretches 1,161 km (721 mi) across the southern portions of both provinces, from Hope, British Columbia to Medicine Hat, Alberta, providing the shortest highway connection between the Lower Mainland and southeast Alberta through the Canadian Rockies. Mostly two-lane, the highway was officially designated in 1932, mainly following a mid-19th-century gold rush trail originally traced out by an engineer named Edgar Dewdney. It takes its name from the Crowsnest Pass, the location at which the highway crosses the Continental Divide between British Columbia and Alberta.
In British Columbia, the highway is entirely in mountainous regions and is also known as the Southern Trans-Provincial Highway. The western-most segment between the Trans-Canada Highway and Highway 5A is locally known as the Hope-Princeton Highway, and passes by the site of the Hope Slide. In Alberta, the terrain is initially mountainous, before smoothing to foothills and eventually generally flat prairie in the vicinity of Pincher Creek. The highway forms part of the Red Coat Trail and the CANAMEX Corridor from Highway 2 near Fort Macleod to Highway 4 in Lethbridge. Many sections of the highway were built by Japanese labour while they were interned during the Second World War, including sections like the Hope-Princeton. This history has been preserved at a heritage marker at Sunshine Valley, which was the largest internment camp in Canada.

June 11, 2019.
Taken in an old catholic cemetery somewhere near the small mining towns of Blairmore and Coleman, just west of the Frank slide, the turtle mountain disaster of 1903 (70-more than 90 deaths) as well as the Hillcrest mining disaster of 1914 (189 out of 228 workers killed) , which happened to be the worst mining disaster in Canadian history. This area is hauntingly beautiful, adorned with abandoned mines and brick buildings and some of the best thunderstorms I have ever seen (basically a guarantee). A general melancholic feeling that sits stagnant in the air, you can’t help but think of all the people that lost their lives, buried under rock, one way or another.
This is one of my favourite areas to visit, and I will always think back to Crowsnest Pass very fondly. If I could ever afford it, I would run away for 2 months and hermit away to write a record here. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always dreamt of doing so.
Blessed be.

Crowsnest Pass, Alberta, Canada
Part of the former town of Frank was entombed in 1903 by a landslide. Historically the Blackfoot and Kutenai didn't camp there due to the slope's instability.
The scale is difficult to communicate but the larger boulders are building sized.

ATTENTION ALBERTANS!! Want to protect our mountains from greed and pollution? You can help!
In 2021 Albertans and over 50 groups worked hard to protect Alberta's watershed and mountains from mining that would pollute the environment and cause health problems for both animals and humans. However, now the Alberta government is trying to get rid of the mining ban that was put in place to protect the environment for their own greed.
Theyre planning on mining the entirety of the Eastern Slopes of Rockies in Alberta from Crowsnest Pass to Rocky Mountain House. It is inevitable that Selenium, which is toxic, will leech into the water and soil from the mining that would occur, and this has happened in B.C, (and nobody knows how to stop it), which ruined its economy there. The damage that would result in the mining would cause cancer in miners and nearby residents, poison the soil and any agriculture from that area (of which there are many), and make the water toxic. Furthermore, 90% of Alberta's water demand comes from the southern half of the province, which is where the mining is taking place. The effects of these protections would be incredibly DEVASTATING on not just Albertans, but the land, the animals, and others, including our economy, which is the same thing that happened with Elk Valley, B.C.
So how can you help?
Sign the petition below to Restore Alberta's Coal mining ban to ensure a better, safer, more clean future for Albertans and the environment!!!
Furthermore, if you've got time today, below are some numbers you can call to tell the gov how you disapprove of the mining project.

(780-427-2391) for Rebecca Shultz, Minister of Environment and Protected Areas

Kid-Pirates Masterlist
Navigation Masterlist Here

Eustass Kid:
Shameless (NSFW Series 3/3)
You have a type, one that has been forcefully revealed by your crewmen's incessant nagging. He was exactly your type.
"Good Boy" (one-shot)
Eustass Kid didn't know exactly when it happened, but now he craves to be praised by you. He thrives beneath your words, but the one time you didn't call him a "good boy" has him in a bratty rage.

Eustass Kid didn't know what possessed him to allow his lover to restrain him against his Captains' chair. But yet, here he is: stuck and loving it.
Cellist Kid (NSFW drabble)
Your academic rival and you do not get along. You find his boorish intensity revolting, and he finds your attitude standoffish. As your conductor decides to pair you together to practice, tempers flare and passion ignites.
Longing (drabble)
Eustass Kid doesn't know how to behave around you, especially now that he's developed feelings for you.
You're So Much More To Me (NSFW Pollen One-Shot)
Desperate to impress the Straw-Hat botanist as you travel with his unruly bunch of pirates, he goes against your warning and immediately goes into uncharted territory and does the unthinkable.
Told You You'd Like It (NSFW One-Shot)
You suggested something new in the bedroom, and your boyfriend immediately shot it down. You thought that's where the conversation ended, it had now flung from your thoughts never to be thought of by you again. Unbeknownst to you, Eustass Kid was consumed by the thought so much he almost thought on nothing else.
Baby (NSFW One-Shot)
Eustass Kid wants to treat you like he does with all of his other partners. He wants to top you, degrade you, pound into you like a wild animal. But he can't. Not when you give him praise like that. He's far too in love with the pretty words fleeing from your lips to try.
Whatever you wanted (NSFW One-Shot)
For a single night, Eustass Kid gave you permission to do whatever you wanted to him. He was not expecting the direction you took at, nor how needy and desperate to please you in you pleasing him he became. Trust and love between you, you got to have whatever you wanted.
Massacre Soldier Killer:
Will You Let Me? (NSFW Pollen!one-shot)
Your crew was docked at a port, exploring a new land while you requested to remain behind. Enjoying being without the unruly bunch, your momentary calm was disrupted by the staggering step of your superior. Coughs, grunts and stuttering over his words: your concern grew more severe as you offered to help him through it.
Killer Watchdog (One-Shot)
Studying at sea was never an easy feat, especially while travelling under the captainship and serving alongside the unruly crew sailing on the Victoria Punk. As you complete your intensive over Den-Den, you notice the silence and choose to investigate the cause.

Stolen Moment (One-Shot)
Too much time had passed between the rare moments you and your partner found for one another. You both decide to rectify that by doing something as simple as sharing the same Crowsnest and painting your lover's fingernails.
Misc and Multiples:
Kiss their cheek (Drabble one-shot)
It was a simple reaction, an impulse you felt organic and out of your control. Their cheek was right there, and the swell in your chest and spike of adrenaline prompted you to lunge forward and capture their cheek beneath your lips. How do they react to such a soft touch? Do they shy away, or do they respond in kind? Sanji, Zoro, Luffy, Law, Kid
How They Kiss (drabble)
Four different kisses with all of your favourites. Where would you place them in these categories?
You Shot a Baby? Sweet Baby Boy (Dialogue + Drabble)
Benn Beckman shot Eustass Kid's arm off. You are not happy about it.
Dreaming of You (NSFW Drabble)
They couldn't help it. You looked so heavenly in their dreams. Acid, Salt, Fat and Heat (NSFW One-Shot)
Your captain has engaged with a petulant challenge that included refusing to make port until both Kid and Law did first. Feeling pent up at sea, you set your sights on the blonde first mate to aid you in finding relief. The catch? He won't unless his captain does too. Kid x afab!reader x Killer

Within the traditional boundaries of Piikani Nation sits the Grassy Mountain coal mining project, a previously mined site that Northback Holdings has applied to the Alberta government for exploration and water diversion licenses. While many believe the project will provide a critical economic injection into the area, others have environmental concerns over its potential impacts, including Wilfred Yellow Wings, a Piikani Nation Elder. “As a spokesperson for our Elders, it’s always been said,” said Yellow Wings. “Anything that will disturb what little portion of land [we have], we don’t want it.” A statement from Northback Holdings says it has ongoing consultation with the Piikani Nation and its members, but Adam North Peigan, chair of the Mountain Child Valley Society, says this isn’t the case.

to much energy (drabble)
No gender or names used, only thing used is 'You'
I tried to put pictures but they weren't working xd
Zoro x !platonic!reader
being at sea for so long had its pros and cons, cost of piracy. However you did expect it to be this bad. The thousand sunny had been at sea now for atleast 2 months, you were getting ancey being in one space for so long. You had tried calmly meditating, cleaning, cardio, hell you asked chopper for sleep medicine to calm you down.
Nothing was working to get rid of the anxiety building so slowly you haven't actually noticed it, while the others (minus luffy) noticed something off. Zoro was the first to actually act, having a sneaking feeling that it was the same ancey-ness he faced when he didn't train enough. Built up adrenalin for no reason, and no way to get rid of it.
Zoro approached you while you were pacing around nami's trees. You were completly zoned out when he grabbed your shoulder, causing you to jump. "I've been trying to get your attention for 5 minutes now, you good?" He asked, annoyance mixed with something else laced in his tone. "Yeah, no im fine. I'm sorry I must have been to focused," you replied, however the tremble now lacing your body said otherwise. Needing to get moving again you tried nudging zoro off, but he grabbed your elbow next.
"You to worked up from being coped up on the ship, right?" Zoro inquired. You stared at him not really knowing what to say, "Come spare with me a 'little, promise 'ittle help." He followed confidently, pulling your arm slightly to follow him. You opened your mouth to protest, however he shut you up quickly; "Trust me yea'? I'll even go easy on ya'." He snickered. He dragged you to the crowsnest and help guide you thro simple, yet more active workouts.
After sets of sparing, dead lifts, squats, and a few rounds of carido and core working; that trembling, anxious feeling you felt before was gone. Now replaced with a pleasant sorness that left you feeling tired. Panting you sat down against the wall, relishing in the feeling. "See? Told ya' it would work." Zoro remarked, sitting down next to you, holding out a water bottle. You nodded in thanks, glading taking gulps of it.
"How'd you know it would help? Hell, how'd you know what was up?" You asked him as you passed the water back. He chackled as he took a swig, " 'cus I get the feeling to, having to be constantly moving otherwise 'imma implode. Jus' helping a crew-mate out." He replied, nudging your arm; you laughed and nudged back, resulting in a small play fight between you to. Before long sanji yelled out that dinner was done. You both looked at each other before agreeing to tie, sliding down the ladder to the crows nest.
Before heading inside you grabbed zoros shoulder, making him turn to you with a tilt of his head. "Ya think we could train more often? I doubt I will ever notice the pacey feeling myself" you asked him. He chuckled swinging his arm round your shoulders roughly, with a smile he said "I guess I could help a pipsqueak like you out," he cheekly remarked, causing you both to laugh. You both head to the table with small smiles, and a another day ahead of you both. Now, you aren't so nervous when those days come. 'Cause you know Zoros got you back.

“A momentary escape”
Stede Bonnet x Reader
words: 1590
google docs pages: 3,5
warnings: Description of noise related overstimulation.
opening: The noise from a celebration happening on the ship gets a little too much for you, and you decide to retreat to somewhere a little quieter. Though, someone soon notices your absence.
AN// Reader can be any gender! For absolutely no reason I’ve been really overstimulated for days now and this is the result of that. Also a chance to learn how to write for Stede. (Apologies if this appears lazy, I’m tired as all hell but felt like writing this out) I'll be back on the requests soon <3
“A momentary escape”
The Revenge’s crew were having a ‘small’ celebration as they had put it. Though, by your definition what they were having was a whole ball. It might have started as something small, but once the rum and music had truly come to play, it might have gotten a little out of hand. And now by the sound of it they might as well have been dancing the hornpipe for all you knew. You’d retreated a little further away from all the noise, not being able to see what truly was going on. At the very least, the sea shanties were sung rather loud, you being able to hear the singing through the wooden walls. It was all getting a little too much. Too much noise from too many directions, an overwhelming amount. It had started to feel like there were multiple tv channels on at the same time, some of them being just static noise.
So you’d seen it best to leave silently and make your way from the galley to the main deck through the lower deck. You didn’t want to go off on anyone for simply having fun, knowing how snappy you might become if you’d stayed for longer.
Even the main deck had gotten a little messy before the crew had ultimately decided to leave as the evening started getting colder. A soft, yet amused huff left your nose, knowing Izzy wouldn’t be thrilled tomorrow morning. Some poor hangover crew member would be mopping the deck clean as soon as the first mate’s gaze would land on the mess.
You shook your head, the thoughts mixing with the overstimulation in your mind. You needed some peace and quiet, a place where you could be alone and as far away from noise as possible. Sure, there was room on the deck, but it felt like anyone could have appeared to come and bother you. Your eyes landed on a ladder that led to the crowsnest. There. No one would be looking for anyone from up there.
You took a lantern with you, having to hang it from your mouth while climbing the ladder. The flame in it, being so close, warmed your collar. It would have been nice in the cool weather, but you were more scared it would light you on fire if you didn’t make it to the top quicker. After making it through the lubber’s hole, you placed the lantern on the right side, seating yourself on the left.
The waves hitting the bow of the ship and swaying the vessel felt a little more intense from the height you were in. But you didn’t fear getting seasick from it, your mind was too busy being too loud. Without even noticing you’d started chewing on your inner lip while leaning on the mast behind you. A muffled sound of the celebration happening below deck was still coming through, all the way up to the crowsnest, but it was a lot better this way.
The air was slightly colder than you would have liked, the feeling of your fingertips getting colder bringing up the realisation. Sometimes a gush of wind would hit the fabric of the sails and cause a silent noise. A couple of waves would hit the bow of the ship, the splash of them audible if you focused on the sound. With a deep breath your gaze landed on the surface of the sea, trying to calm down by following the movements of the water.
Time passed, but you didn’t feel much better. The muffled racket still haunting you enough to make it almost impossible to calm down. The sound of the ladder hitting the mast irritated you, but only after the initial anger did you realise that the sound was caused by someone being on the ladder. “Who-” You started, but didn’t have to ask the rest. Stede’s head appeared through the lubber’s hole, before he was able to climb higher and stand up on the platform. “Oh, there you are. Quite a party down there, aye?” He’d said before that.
You stared at the man quietly, irritated by the sound of him talking but not wanting to upset him by telling him to leave when he’d just gotten up there. “Now, why are you here alone? It’s rather awfully cold up here.” He spoke, kneeling down a little to get to your level. Closing your eyes and placing your palms over them, you took a moment. “I needed some air.” You said, voice slightly muffled from speaking in a lower tone. By the sound of it, Stede had sat down as well. He wasn’t going to leave.
“Ah, I see. Well, at the very least take my coat, it is cold up here after all.” He said, the sound of him sliding his arm out of one of the coat’s sleeves following after. You lowered your hands, the other forming into a fist beside you. “Stede, shut up…be quiet.” You said in a rather desperate voice, taking another breath. You had no idea how this man was able to keep up such a one sided conversation either. You’d barely replied to anything he’d said, yet he kept talking to you. A sweet thing, in any other situation.
Stede had fallen quiet for a moment after that, his mouth slightly agape as he thought of what to say, not sure if he should have even said ‘of course’. The captain’s mouth closed. He took a more comfortable position on the platform, moving his gaze to where yours was. On the water. You hadn’t told him to leave, only to be quiet. And he wanted to respect that, wait for you to maybe say something.
A more comfortable silence filled the air. Almost like the appearance of Stede had silenced some of the noise coming from below deck. Almost like all the noise in your mind had gotten silenced along with it. This also allowed you to think of what you’d said previously. The man had just tried to be kind, offering his coat and asking why you’d left. “I’m sorry about that.” You said along a sigh. This gained the attention of the blonde captain quickly, as his eyes turned on your huddled up form. “Oh, It’s alright. Are you okay?” He asked, his hands playing with the buttons of the coat as he worried for your well being. He’d noticed your absence rather quickly, but taken more time than expected to finally find you. “Yeah, the…noise got a little overwhelming, is all.” You said, voice attempting to betray you as it shook. Not out of any emotion, but it was starting to get cold. Your hands had lost all warmth some time ago, but you could also feel the cold creep up to your face, feeling your jaw start losing its warmth. It made talking a little harder, having to speak more slowly.
You couldn’t see Stede all too well, but his expression had softened. A more concerned yet gentle look on his face now. “Ah, I see. They did get a little rowdy, I admit. Would you rather me leave? I wasn’t sure earlier.” He said, tone almost apologetic after realising that you’d most likely left to be alone for a moment. You shook your head, and replied. “Stay, please?” To which he gave you a nod, lifting the coat. “Would you like to find a quieter place? My cabin is mostly sound proof.” He suggested, clearly seeing you were starting to freeze. You turned to look at him, tilting your head slightly. “Won’t you be needed? The crew will come asking for you soon, I presume?” You asked, not even quite sure how no one had yet come on the main deck to look for the man. Stede chuckled silently, shaking his head. “I doubt they even noticed I left. So?” He raised his eyebrows slightly, waiting for your answer.
It would only get colder from here, forcing you to give him a slow nod. Though, the warmth of a cabin didn’t sound bad. “Sure.” You said, standing up. Stede smiled gently as he stood up with you, offering the coat again. He didn’t say much more, only happy that he was able to offer a place of respite when you needed it. “Thank you.” You said, pulling the coat over your shoulders. It felt heavy, not used to wearing such fancy clothing. You didn’t even know which part of it weighed so much, like a small back bag. “Of course.” Stede smiled, allowing you to go down the ladder first, following only after you’d gotten back down on the main deck.
You watched Stede descend, waited until he was next to you once more. Even in the dark, you could have sworn you saw his hand rise and suddenly stop. “Is it okay if I-” The captain asked in a rushed tone, seemingly still careful around you, not wanting to be the cause of your distress. You smiled faintly, taking his hand in yours. The touch felt comforting, mostly because the man’s hand was still somehow warmer than yours. Stede gave you a gentle smile, leading you towards his quarters in a comfortable silence. Suddenly the disturbing noise was all gone, not even the speaking sounded louder than it truly was. But the silence was still a comfort.

An unprompted post-DA2 FenHawke piece for @dadrunkwriting based on the fact that while writing "the fastest way to stop me talling is to kissed" I realised that Adrian Hawke is definitely the type of person who won't be quiet - even when asleep.
Fenris had tried. He had really tried.
He wasn’t sure how long it had been—an hour, maybe two? He could tell by the slow shift of the stars through the porthole that it had been long enough.
And yet, despite being fast asleep, Adrian was still talking.
He was used to Adrian’s half-coherent midnight ramblings, the way he muttered about absurd things—treasure maps, duels that never happened, whether or not Orlesians put wine in their bathwater. Most nights, it was nothing more than background noise, something he could tune out.
But not tonight.
Tonight was particularly bad. Less fragmented thoughts, more full sentences.
Adrian sighed, shifted, buried his face deeper into the pillow, then mumbled with absolute conviction:
"If you think about it—really think about it—fish should wear hats."
Fenris exhaled slowly, staring at the ceiling.
Adrian moved again, pressing closer in his sleep. His voice was muffled but still far too clear.
"D’you think Isabela’s ever tried to—no, never mind. Stupid question. Of course she has."
A pause. A deep, contemplative breath.
Then:
"If I were a nug, I’d be so powerful."
That was it.
Fenris was done.
Quietly, he slipped out of bed, careful to avoid waking Adrian. He wasn’t going far—perhaps the galley, maybe some quiet corner below deck, even the crowsnest if nessecary. Just somewhere quiet where he could actually sleep.
One night of peace.
The door clicked shut behind him, muffling Adrian’s nonsense, and for the first time in what felt like hours, there was silence. Fenris exhaled, pressing his back against the wooden frame.
Leaving didn’t feel great, but self-preservation won out over sentiment.
Adrian would understand.
Probably.
Pushing off the door, he made his way up the steps toward the deck. The Crimson Gale was never truly silent—ships never were—but compared to the ceaseless chatter inside their cabin, the night air was mercifully still.
He paused at the top of the steps, glancing at the horizon before casually noting the locations of the night crew. The galley should be empty at this hour—perfect.
When he stepped inside, the galley was dark, save for the faint glow of embers still burning in the stove. He didn’t bother lighting a lantern, there was no need—he could see perfectly well in the dark.
He exhaled, settling onto a bench, leaning back against the wooden wall.
No muttered nonsense about nugs.
No fish-hat debates.
No one speaking at all.
Finally.
Silence.
And yet—
Slowly he noticed it.
Creeping into the edges of his awareness.
Every sound.
The way the ship creaked. The distant, muffled footsteps of the night crew. The slow, rhythmic slosh of water against the hull. The occasional, near-silent groan of the wood adjusting to the sea’s movements.
None of these sounds were unexpected. And yet…
He sat there, eyes open, tense, ears twitching at every tiny noise.
It wasn't just quiet, it was the wrong type of quiet.
The kind of quiet that made his skin itch, instincts too sharp to relax.
He exhaled sharply, rolling his shoulders in an attempt to shake the tension from his body.
It would pass.
The quiet wasn’t a threat. It was just—
A distant rustle of fabric.
His head snapped up, ears straining.
Nothing.
Just the wind shifting outside. The faintest whisper through the sails.
Ridiculous.
With a frustrated groan, he pressed his fingers to his temple.
He'd just wanted one night.
One night without Adrian’s rambling, his unconscious shifting, the warmth of his body beside him.
One night of silence.
Another sound, his entire body tensed.
This was absurd.
He let out a slow breath, closing his eyes.
The ship creaked. A rope shifted. Footsteps echoed.
His eyes snapped open.
No.
With a muttered curse, he pushed himself to his feet.
When he slipped back into the cabin, Adrian was still sprawled across the mattress, one arm loosely draped over Fenris’ now-empty side. His messy brown hair stuck up at odd angles, his breathing soft and steady.
Fenris lingered in the doorway.
This was foolish.
He had left for a reason. He could still leave—turn around, go back to the galley, let reason win out. But the bed was warm, Adrian was warm, and the quiet outside had been worse than the nonsense in here.
With a quiet sigh, he surrendered to inevitability and slid beneath the still warm blankets.
“Mm?” Adrian mumbled, voice groggy. Not awake. Just shifting. His hand finding Fenris’ chest, fingers splaying lazily over his heart.
He sighed.
Then barely audible:
"Hats for fish… Dolphins... they are already smug."
Fenris closed his eyes, exasperated.
And yet—
His lips twitched into a smile.
The quiet was worse.
