Lack of Light

Cave Creature!Sun x Reader (SFW)

Snickering to yourself in slight victory, you sit back on your butt on the hard, moist, rocky ground before using one hand to click the flashlight on. Holding it near your stomach, the light shoots out into the massive cave. You realize with a cold trickle of dread that you are not alone.

Word Count: 3,700~ Warnings: Injury, light angst, hurt/comfort, and broken bones.

Why you shouldn't join CS:

as you can see by the date I asked for these as part of a free adoption... the day the rarities were changed from "unknown" this person straight up LIED to my face about them not being available for trade and then has the audacity to ask me to not send a trade again just because they turned out to be rare.

when even the FREE ADOPT threads are scamming over good people for their own profit, you know the site is f*.

As someone currently studying cybersecurity, this is a wonderful example of gen alpha being careful online.

See, part of my cybersecurity class is that they teach us how to hack so that we understand how to prevent it. And the vast majority of the hacking I've done has happened by executing files. If a hacker can get someone to execute a file on their computer (especially if the victim has root permissions on that device, though that's unlikely in this scenario), all bets are off.

Anything you can do on the computer, a file you execute can do as well. Maybe your antivirus software will keep you safe, but do you really want to find out the hard way if it doesn't?

So while a middle/high schooler is unlikely to have anything worth hacking, it was still excellent that they chose not to execute an unknown and unverified file on their computer. That's the choice adults should make in that situation too!

I'm sorry, but I adamantly disagree.

This is very good behavior.

They didn't recognize the file extension.

They didn't recognize the EXE program.

And so they refused to open them.

That is excellent internet security hygiene.

They went to a trusted person (their brother) and verified WinRAR was legit and then proceeded to unpack the files.

How is this not *encouraging* for gen alpha? Is it just because they didn't know what WinRAR was? Who cares? I'm just proud they were being careful.

Unlike my boomer uncle who once installed so many spam search toolbars that there was no screen real estate left to show webpages.

#CS #cybersecurity #hacking has many facets and one of those is its social aspect.#if a hacker can get someone to trust them enough to give them key information (passwords and/or personal information)#or to execute a tainted file as a verified user #that's often an easier way to bypass security systems than the stereotypical “sit down and code for 3 hours” approach #and the system is just as infiltrated at the end of it.#that doesn't apply so much here but it's the same principal
