haven’t gotten to play all the new maps yet (can just one lobby i’m in vote Reckoner please please please) but i’ve gotten a chance to play most of the currently-functional ones, and i definitely already have some favorites :D
Sulfur is quite possibly my favorite of the new maps. it’s just SO cool. Once i figured out that last changes with each point capture, i just spent a whole round hanging around last watching each change happen (and dodging enemies, because I was on BLU for this.) Most of the games I’ve played also had BLU attacking the points in proper order, which is nice (i do NOT enjoy cp_steel.) And of course, it’s a GORGEOUS map! little confusing, but not so bad once I actually started paying attention to the signage lol. (there’s also so much detail??? just take a moment to look at the cubbies with everyone’s stuff)
Phoenix is absolutely gorgeous as well, and although i’ve only played on it once, I think I really like it. There’s some fun flanks for sure! I managed to survive and escape certain death surprisingly well as Scout despite not knowing the map at all, which I think points to a map that flows really well and rewards good movement. (take this with a grain of salt, i’ve only played the map once) Shark Bay is locked in as my final favorite, for obvious reasons. The first round I played, my team was spawncamping the other pretty hard, so I was mostly free to run around and explore. I was surprised by how easily accessible the plank/boardwalk/thing over the point is; even when I played a proper game, I rarely encountered anyone else trying to make use of it. I imagine this will change as people learn the map, but just something I found interesting. The sharks DO bite, 10/10

TEAM FORTRESS 2 CONCEPT ART -> Badlands (cp_badlands)
Badlands is a remake of the Classic CTF Badlands from Team Fortress Classic, and was released in the February 14, 2008 Patch. Much of the map has been changed and the map type has been changed from Capture the Flag to Control Point. The map consists of a base for each team, an open second point for each team located on the top of a hill, and a center point on the bridge. — Official TF2 Wiki

I know TF2 is like, a competitive shooter game really so it kinda cultivates this aura of a toxic gamer fanbase, and I can understand that I definitely thought that and I know there's people on there that are like that from my friends experiences but man.
TF2 is cute. TF2 is fucking adorable. You hop onto a match on tf2 and there are people doing little dances with their teammates and you can do silly emotes and you say cute silly voice lines and you can get cute gear and cosmetics and man. It's just really nice. I've only been playing for like a week and I've had so many just, nice cute game experiences.
While playing CTF I took the enemy intelligence and had a convey of like 6 people following me to protect me (It was community server so it was big). While playing Payload I stayed by the cart while it was back-rolling to protect the area while 2 medics healed me and ubercharged me. I was playing Payload today and I stayed near a corner on the end of the map protecting the last checkpoint and a medic was back and forth healing me and ubercharging me and an engineer came over and built me a dispenser and just. Gwah. TF2 makes you feel like the specialist little guy ever sometimes and it's really nice.

medic. medic wip.
Tumblr media
dear god the new medic cosmetics are,,, are.
i played the game for like. 5-6 hours straight? idk idr. my eyes. my poor eyes i am so so tired but so so happy too. i got to do some medic gaming!! it was so fun!!
i love applejack(ctf map) so much, it's just 2fort 2.0 sdfsdf and i love the lil pootis reference there. it's such a pretty map?? love love LOVE IT
overall the new maps are pretty cool! though, i didn't play on all of them yet, and i dont really like the uh,,, atom smash? map. the layout is confusing to me and it's difficult to keep the team alive as only medic because everyone is everywhere and you just. cannot find them before it's too late
by the way, when i was talking about "new medic cosmetics" i was referring specifically to Tropical Brim (the hat) and Watchmann's Wetsuit (the shirt). ALSO. spy's Tuxedo Royale? absolutely gorgeous. i'm going to draw spy with it sometime soon too

HI MOD SWORD IF IT'S YOU [Also hi to the other mods you guys deserve love too <333] I hope this isn't just a ME thing. But I genuinely believe some maps in the game should be reworked.... Like ROBLOX HQ for example. That map is sooooooo fucking bad. Genuinely. It's too small, it's so easy to spawn camp the other team if you manage to get the upper hand, some chars' phinishes [like Rocket's for example] are soooooo fucking finicky to use Like I see the dev team reworking other maps but why not the HQ???? It's a map that REALLY needs to be reworked and touched up so that it'll ACTUALLY be an enjoyable map to play on. - 🎐 anon [I HAVE RETURNED!!!]
HIIII!!!!!! yes its me mod sword hello :3
i agree tbh theres a lot of maps i think need reworks.. underground war is one of them its a very neat concept but i think its not done that well... the secret side tunnels are cool but they literally serve zero purpose in conquer it feels like the map was built for stealth characters when we HAVE NONE... like the caves lead directly to backlines but theres actually no POINT IN THAT bc hypers will snipe from the top of the rocks in the middle and everyone crowds the centre AS THEY SHOULD BC ITS CONQUER. not to mention how massive the underground is for no reason it really strikes me as an annihilate map that was randomly decided to be a conquer map last minute.. they couldve done something much cooler with the holes up top akin to the two paths out of spawn in bowling alley (i.e. have the Large Hole that everyone goes down and then turn the side paths into paths dug INTO THE WALLS for supports or snipers so they can have a perch or safer less direct way to get down to the centre... and it should stay a conquer map but have annihilate as an option bc tbh a rework for it would go SO HARD as annihilate.. or if they ever add capture the flag as a gamemode i think underground war would be such a good ctf map not even joking..... SORRY WOW IK THE ASK WAS ABOUT HQ BUT I NEEDED TO TALK ABT UW
anyways i really love hq because i get to throw my sword into the hallway and kill people :)

i don't know how it is on the us servers but playing capture the flag on tf2 is not playing at all and it rules. if u load into a ctf map chances are you will find both teams chilling or fucking around with people from each team picking up and dropping the intelligence repeatedly for the funnies. genuinely a game ever

Speaking of getting ganked in trench crusade, here was todays map
Tumblr media
New Antioch’s Eisensturm, the headless martyrs trench pilgrims, and the free state of Prussia’s Black knights in the south west corner vs some black grail monstrosities, heretical legionaries, and sultanate assassins n the north east. The game was relic hunt (one flag ctf).
Got off to a slow start just getting into range, the black knights took first blood by killing a bloated fly with an anti tank rifle, which led into a complete slog of trading shots. The forces of Christendom managed to hold the adversary at range, keeping their brutal claws at bay through a withering barrage from an artillery witch. John the black (a shock trooper with the black knights) pushed to take the relic and break the stalemate, but no sooner did he touch it before one of the sultans assassins struck him with an accursed arrow, appeared behind him and cut him down, stealing the relic.
The Eisensturm pushed deep into the enemy line from the left, killing many including the treacherous assassin. The Black Knights held most the heretic forces at the left and almost claimed the relic before another assassin pounced from the shadows and stole it away.
In the end the forces of righteousness were forced to surrender the field but managed to bring with them their wounded to fight another day. It remains to be seen what strange powers the relic may have held.
