let me set the scene... what if mahia just broke. What if she finally had enough, and decided to fight back, and it goes against every part of her. Everything in her being and her soul. It's a struggle, but she needs to survive and there's no other way. What if she catches one of the Hunter's alone, and they spot her, and they fight. And she just... swings her blade. And she's shaking, and stepping back, bloodied, hyperventilating. He's gasping, reaching for her, choking on his blood.

And she doesn't help. She wants to. She feels like she needs to. But, they're never going to stop. They're never going to let her live. They're never going to stop chasing her... she takes another step back. Her arms cross over her chest and she has to hug herself, forcibly clutching her fingers around her arms to stop them from moving toward her flask. She isn't healing him. She needs to, she needs to, everything in her body is screaming for her to... she can't. She understands that she can't. And he dies.

The others come running by, they see him. They yell in frustration, they get angry, they search for her as she hides. And they move on to keep looking for her. When the coast is clear, she steps out. And she's sobbing silently. She doesn't want to get closer to the dead man, but she does. She forces herself to. She kneels down and closes his eyes, whispering "I am sorry. I am so sorry" over and over, again, like she's begging his forgiveness. Then, she stands up, and staggers, and vomits, and runs.

some of you may have noticed that despite me saying nothing will change over here after that drama dumpster fire, not much has happened generally since . truth is , I'm not feeling particularly inspired at the moment . I'm fine , unbothered , but also uninspired . occasionally indeed glimpsing at the marvel rpc too , not gonna lie , cos one or two old muses from that era are poking at me more than my asoiaf gals and guys currently are . ( I haven't rebooted anything yet , just before someone starts yelling at me - looking at Frankenstein - )

sooooo . . . I'm not doing an official hiatus at this time , I'll continue to chip away at drafts and asks in the background whenever a burst of inspiration does hit me , but I'll be sitting on these for a little while and gradually build up a queue again . this goes for Maron's solo blog too , btw . will I dip my toes into the marvel rpc again ? maybe . I don't know . I'll maybe watch the dash development on one or two of my old blogs and then decide . but in any case , I'm always around on discord , I'll probably do a little RP over there instead , and I'll be around here , too , just a little quiet on the dash for now ♡

okay, but the real question here is why he's reading one or the other.  for book club?  see, the funny thing is i think he could do either, and if given his druthers for that he'd opt for the smutty novel, just because it means he's not being assaulted with bad takes on necromancy again, on top of answering approximately a billion questions on why x, y, or z wouldn't work.  

you know.  as a treat.  a little break.

(but let's be real if he's picking a book for book club it's gonna be some dense classical epic that's gonna take forever to wade through and requires a heavy recall of the minutia of ancient history, and i feel like this is why emmrich never gets to pick a book for book club.)

but i can recall…well, a couple of conversations, actually, and a codex or two, where it's like…he'd be fine with the smutty novel.  he doesn't get flustered talking about it - like he's not the one to necessarily bring it up in polite company, but he obviously is perfectly fine discussing it (as per a conversation specifically with a romanced harding, davrin's needling, his thoughts on the banning of books, etc).

…to be honest, he'd probably nitpick the impracticalities in a bodice ripper, too.
