Calling all British food enthusiasts and long-term preppers! Are you tired of wasting precious food because it spoils too quickly? Do you dream of creating delicious, lightweight meals for your next camping trip or emergency? Look no further than custom freeze-dried bags!
These innovative bags are the secret weapon for anyone who wants to extend the shelf life of their favourite foods dramatically. By removing moisture through a specialised process called freeze-drying, you can lock in flavour, nutrients, and freshness for years to come.
But what truly elevates your freeze-dried experience?
Customised bags!
Here's why custom freeze dried bags are the perfect solution for all your food storage needs:
Peak Protection:
Moisture Barrier: Custom bags are crafted from high-barrier materials that keep moisture out, the enemy of long-term food storage. This ensures your freeze-dried food stays perfectly preserved, preventing spoilage and maintaining its delicious taste.
Puncture Resistance: Let's face it, accidents happen. Custom bags offer superior puncture resistance, safeguarding your precious freeze-dried contents from unexpected tears or snags. No more worrying about losing valuable food due to flimsy packaging.
Light Protection: Sunlight can degrade food quality over time. Customised bags can be designed with light-blocking properties, shielding your freeze-dried goodies from harmful UV rays and ensuring optimal preservation.
Brand Your Brilliance:
Stand Out From the Crowd: Showcase your brand or personalise your emergency food stash with custom printing options. Add your logo, nutritional information, or even a friendly message for that extra touch.
Informative Packaging: Customised bags allow you to display important information like expiry dates, preparation instructions, or even enticing pictures of the delicious freeze-dried meal within.
Marketing Magic: Customised bags become mini billboards for your brand. Eye-catching designs and clear messaging can help you promote your freeze-dried food creations or emergency preparedness kits.
The Right Size for Every Bite:
Variety is the Spice of Life: Custom bags come in a wide range of sizes, allowing you to perfectly portion your freeze-dried food. From single-serving snacks to family-sized meals, you can find the ideal bag to suit your needs.
Space-Saving Solutions: Freeze-dried food is incredibly lightweight and compact, but choosing the right size bag can maximise storage efficiency. Customised bags eliminate wasted space, allowing you to pack more food into your emergency kit or pantry.
Beyond Food:
Not Just for Foodies: The benefits of custom freeze-dried bags extend far beyond food storage. Use them for medications, herbs, camping essentials, or anything else that requires long-term protection from moisture and air.
Investing in Quality:
While the initial cost of custom bags might seem higher, consider it a long-term investment. These reusable bags will protect your freeze-dried food for years to come, saving you money in the long run by preventing food waste.
Finding the Perfect Fit:
Several UK-based companies specialise in creating high-quality custom freeze-dried bags. Look for manufacturers who offer:
Food-grade materials: Ensure your bags are safe for storing food and meet all relevant regulations.
Custom printing options: Express your individuality or brand with logos, text, or images.
Variety of sizes and styles: Find the perfect bag for your specific needs, whether it's a single-serving pouch or a large-capacity bag.
Competitive pricing: Compare quotes from different manufacturers to find the best value for your budget.
Embrace the Future of Food Storage:
Custom freeze-dried bags are a game-changer for anyone who wants to extend the shelf life of their food and ensure lasting freshness. By combining superior protection with customisation options, these innovative bags offer the perfect solution for all your long-term food storage needs.

Tw. Reader is insecure about her body
⋆⑅˚₊Beach Episode ✧˖°.
It was horribly hot outside, the humidity was deadly, and the ground felt like lava rocks, Ninjago City was known for its hot summers. So, it’s no surprise to find it’s citizens of the city try to keep cool.
Fans on full blast outside shops and ice cream parlors packed with customers desperate for something to beat the heat.
“Ugh, it’s so hot!” Kai groans as he sucks on his popsicle hanging upside down on the couch in front of the large white fan.
“Ugh, move your legs Kai...” Jay moans as he was using his one of Nya’s headband to push back his curly brown hair from his melting forehead.
“Both of you hush your hot breaths are making it worse” Nya snaps frantically fanning herself with her tank top.
Cole was sprawled on the couch with his drink hat that was now room temperature, “ugh, it’s too hot to even play video games.” Cole tosses the controller on to the table leaning his head back.
“You think we can use Zane as a freezer?” Kai suggests his voice chopping through the fan, suckling on his popsicle. “Maybe if we ask nicely, he can freeze us…” Cole mumbles out.
“Nya, I want water” Jay whines as Nya huffs, “I’m all dried out, I don’t have the energy” Nya sighs dramatically.
The team lays defeated as they squabble with one another.
You soon walk in smiling with a cooler against your hip.
“Oh wow, you guys look like you’re melting~” coming into the living room with a cooler filled with ice and drinks,
Jay looks up “what’s that? looks cold!” Jay looked desperate wanting whatever was in the cooler, he resembled someone addicted looking for anything to help his craving.
“It’s for later, Zane and I are going to the beach” you walk over to the door and place the cooler down, the others lift their heads, “the beach?!”
“Holy heck yea, let’s go!” Kai finding the energy he pops up and twists himself to look at you his popsicle forgotten as it falls from his mouth.
You giggle, “then c’mon, Zane is getting lunch ready to take, we’re gonna have a barbeque later so he’s getting that ready too.”
“What are we waiting for boys? Let’s get our gear on!” Cole takes his hat off and races the others up the stairs to get their swim wear on. Shaking your head you continue with your task,
“Did you tell the others?” Zane pops in holding a basket guessing it was the lunch and a bag of meat and veggies for the barbeque. “yea, they looked like little kids~” you chuckle as Zane places the stuff on top of the cooler.
Zane smiles, “I am glad, I was hoping for something fun to help us all escape the heat.” You nod looking to the clock, “we should get ready, I can’t wait to get there!” you skip up to your room with Zane close behind to get ready as well in his own room.
Zane had suggested the idea of a beach day to you when you had woken up that morning, he said his falcon found a spot on the beach for you all to have where no one knew about. A secluded spot for you guys was perfect!
You were eager to go with Zane thinking that he wanted to go with you, like alone.
However Zane had the thought of bringing everyone, you weren’t upset about it, more the merrier.
But you couldn’t lie, being alone with Zane on the beach together did sound romantic. You had hoped that your boyfriend was suggesting a date.
Zane was a bit slow when it came to romantic things in a relationship, you having to initiate almost all your guy’s intimate moments, but you knew what you were getting into when you declared your feelings for the nindroid months ago.
You don’t ever feel sour about it either you liked showing Zane different ways of being affectionate and how to show love in different ways and what some feelings meant. You just can’t help but think about cute scenarios of you two together and Zane leading you in those moments, he’s so gentle, yet precise with everything he does. So, the wonder of how he would act in leading felt like a fairytale.
But here you are in your room staring down at the swimsuit you picked out the week before summer started.
Wanting a beach day even before Zane suggested, you thought that maybe you could push the lead that you wanted out of Zane with a cute swimsuit. But now,
You were having second thoughts.
Staring at the vertical striped pastel pink frilly suit, you blush, it wasn’t crazy revealing, but it showed more skin than you would normally show.
Especially to Zane,
You had hoped in the moment to stun him with your looks to get a reaction. Seeing him blush with love in his icy blue eyes was your goal.
You hum reluctant as you try and convince yourself that this plan was still clever.
Maybe it won’t be so bad if I put it on.
Oh no, is that my cleavage!?
I think I’m eating a little too much…
eek! This is barely covering my butt!!
You turn in all sorts of directions as you stare at yourself in the mirror finding different flaws left and right. Grabbing your belly and pinching your thighs,
Did this make me look childish? Are my thighs too big? Oh no, oh geez…
The frills turn with every movement you made as you look in your dresser for anything else,
‘knock’ ‘knock’
You jump hearing the door,
“(y/n), are you ready?” it was Zane!!!
“uh-uhm yea, almost…” your voice squeaks as you desperately try and find a different swimsuit.
Hearing the door open your squeak, rushing to the door to close it as you saw it crack open. Startling the nindroid in the process he tilts his head on the other side of the door. “(y/n), are you sure you’re, okay?” You hold the door close, “ye-yes?” you stutter out. Zane was silent on the other side, seeming to try and calculate what was up with you without pushing any buttons that would make you uncomfortable.
“Would you like me to retrieve Nya?” Zane tries to help making you smile on the other end. “mm, n-no it’s oki, I’m fine Zane. I’ll be down inna minute oki?” Zane hums standing close to the door reluctant to leave.
“Alright (y/n), I will be downstairs, if you need any assistance, just call.” Your smile only grows as you nod knowing he couldn’t see you spoke again,
“I will Zane.”
Zane stands for a moment before walking away hearing footsteps you exhale the deep breath you were holding in.
Walking up to your dresser you curse, your one piece had a hole in it, it was old which was another reason why you went to buy a new swimsuit.
Looking to your closet you find a jacket, it was close to ninety-five degrees outside, but you needed a cover up.
You grab your jacket slipping it on closing it around your frame, seeing as it drops to your mid-thigh you felt much better when you looked in the mirror.
But then why were you frowning?
This won’t have Zane swooning over you, but what you were wearing before would probably make it worst.
Right? you nervously fiddle with your jackets string feeling tears prick your eyes, your bottom lip quivers out as you bite you sleeve trying to ease any sadness that was washing over you.
“c’mon, (y/n) the beach isn’t gonna wait forever!” Kai shouts from the living room impatiently.
Shaking your head, you wipe your tears and open the door grabbing your beach bag,
“s-sorry, I was just using the bathroom” you skip down the stairs seeing everyone waiting for you. Zane looks to you and tilts his head, “are you alri-“
“don’t worry about it (y/n), now let’s goo!” Jay shouts as he dismisses your face and the rest follow him out the door to the jeep.
You smile to Zane, “c’mon, they might leave us if we keep them waiting~” you joke trying not to let Zane see your insecurities.
Zane looked upset as he was trying to figure out what was wrong, wanting to help you.
“mm, alright, we should head out then” he didn’t smile as he walks out,
The nervousness in your tummy returns as you follow him.
When you all got to the beach the team wasted no time getting into the water, leaving you and Zane to set up everything. You chuckle watching your friends play in the water and chasing each other.
Kai and Jay in swimming trunks, Cole in tight swim shorts that went down to his lower thigh.
Nya had on a tight fitted wet suit that was black and blue, you couldn’t help but admire her form, she was muscular and skinny. She had curves in the right places, her swimwear was nothing like yours, watching as Jay gawks over her you feel a bit jealous. Pouting you sit curling up with you jacket still over you.
“You will heat up under there, are you not going to join them?” Zane stands over you with a light blue polo shirt and khaki shorts.
“I’m fine, I think I’ll just build sandcastles.” You spoke not too excited at your own choice of activity.
Zane hums and sits next to you criss cross as he scoops sand into his hand, “then I shall build with you.” Zane smiles down at you, looking up with your hood over your head you smile.
After a couple of moments, you both built a perfectly good sandcastle, you start digging out a molt for water around the castle.
“I’m sorry for dragging you with me, I know you're probably wanting to have fun with your friends.” You couldn’t bring yourself to look at Zane as he was on his knees forming a roof,
“I am happy whenever I am with you. I have no desire to spend my time any other way that is not with you.” Zane looks to you and leans down to lower your hood, seeing your face was sweaty he smiles down at you.
“Oh, my dove, you do not have to apologize for spending time with me. I will always want to be near you.” Your face was warm and not because of the heat, you were blushing at his nickname and his words. His perfect handsome face and kind eyes, the way his thumb glides from side to side on your chin, so close to your bottom lip.
You hum as you lean into his cold hand, grabbing his wrist so that you could feel more of him.
“I’m really hot..” you mutter out, tired from hiding as you come clean about your feelings.
“I am aware” Zane chuckles as you grab at your zipper hesitating to pull it down,
“I bought a new swimsuit.” You were slow at your reveal, feeling embarrassed to share your feelings to your boyfriend.
But Zane sits patiently, “May I see?” Zane grabs your hand that was on your zipper not making any movements, but he holds your hand as if supporting you.
“I don’t look like Nya though.” You whine feeling your tears again, Zane pats your head affectionately, “of course you don’t, you look like you.” He runs his hands through your hair.
“But I look…bad” you squeak trying to swallow down the lump in your throat, Zane smiles and lowers himself so that you can see him.
“I do not date you because of your looks, I date you because of your kind heart and your acceptance of me. There are many reasons as to why I love you, (y/n), I love you, for you.” Zane finishes as he feels you let go, your zipper falling as both your hands move together to reveal your body. You blush looking away, seeing Zane stare down at your body.
He slips your jacket off to see more of you, your cute belly, and chubby thighs. The frilly light pink swimsuit hugs your body showing your attributes that Zane normally doesn’t see.
Your pretty collarbone leading down to your cleavage, the tiny skirt on the side of your swim bottoms lifts for Zane to see your curves.
You finally look at him his hands felt warm almost concerningly warm.
“Zane?” you call for him seeing that he had spaced out; you then yelp as sparks fly from Zane’s head. “Ahh! Z-Zane what happened?!” you move to your knees and cup his face. You start to shake him to wake him up from his assuming overwhelmed system. Soon Zane comes to his senses and shakes his head,
“I apologize. You just look so stunning.” Zane lets out breathlessly as he leans over you to capture your body into his holding you close, his hands on your bare back as he hugs you.
“You’re so beautiful, such a pretty girl” his hands slide up and down your back, causing you to squeak your face turning red as a shiver runs down your back where Zane’s cold fingers grazed so gently. This was more of a reaction; this was so much more than what you expected.
“Z-Zane?” you look over to him his face felt hot, as his cold hands continues to roam your body. An audible gasp leaves you lips as Zane continues; you soon hum finding relaxation as you close your eyes feeling his hands cool down your body from your warm jacket.
You grab onto Zane’s polo pushing your face deeper into the side of his neck, you felt as though you were on cloud nine, you never wanted to come down.
And neither did Zane as he showed no sign of letting you go.
After a few moments Zane finally felt calm again, he lifts and let’s go, forcing you to wake up again. You look up to Zane and smile, moving your hands to cup his face,
“Zane, I love you.” Your heart skips as Zane places his much bigger hand over one of yours and closes his eyes, “I love you too, (y/n).”
You smile as you huff and start to stand, now forcing Zane to snap out from his daydreaming. “c’mon Zane let’s go for a walk together!” you hold his hand as he comes up, grabbing a bucket you both walk away from the others to be by yourselves for a little longer.
You scan the ground under you, your eyes go wide as you race over to find a chipped sand dollar. “Look Zane!” you hold it up for Zane as he peers down at it smiling, he holds out the bucket for you to place the shell in.
You both continue down watching as boulders get bigger, you both walk further away from the others. Zane stops and finds a shell too, placing it in the bucket after showing you the colors,
“aaahhh, I love the beach!” you happily start running feeling a burst of energy you start kicking the waves that washed up onto the shore.
Zane watches you happily run as he places the bucket down to join you, looking back you see him grab your hand as you both run away from the waves and return just to run back when the waves came again.
You lower your hand down into the water then brought it back up to flick water at Zane playfully. He chuckles then picks you up by your waist hearing your screams and laughter made Zane laugh as well. As when Zane got to deeper waters, he drops you into it, the water rises just below his shorts. When you come back up you pounce on Zane laughing as he laughs along with you.
He picks you up bridal style and spins you as he makes his way back to the shore with you in his arms still laughing.
He sits you down and sits next to you, watching the waves once again, “are you hungry?” Zane looks down at you nodding as you place your head on his shoulder. “I made sandwiches, I’m sure the others are eating now. Would you like to go back?” Zane stands and offers you a hand, placing your hand in his he helps you up and you both make you way back bucket in hand.
When you both made it back the other was already eating correctly guessed by Zane,
“Oh hey, there you guys are” Kai chews on his sandwich his normally spiked hair was down most likely from the water.
Jay had a tan already as Nya was putting sunblock on him a sandwich in her mouth as she rubbed the cream into Jay’s arm.
“I thought you guys left” Jay spoke with his mouth full, Cole laying on the towel his hands behind his back with Kai’s glasses on.
“We did sorta, we just wanted to see around the beach” you bend down to open the basket pulling out a sandwich.
You take a bite and hum, “thank you” you lay your head on Zane’s shoulder Zane smiles enjoying the fact that you liked the sandwich he made.
“Hey, (y/n) cute swimsuit” Nya smiles as she finishes her sandwich, your mouth was full looking to Nya blushing, “tahank yhou” you spoke wanting to show your appreciation to Nya’s compliment.
She chuckles and grabs a ball from the beach bag that Zane brought, “wanna play volleyball?” Nya stands looking to you, swallowing you nodded,
“Heck yea, I’m down!” you raise your fists in excitement standing up to create a line with Nya for your game.
"Alright, here it comes!~"
Nya serves the ball to you, and you pass it back, the boys start to cheer for you guys as it starts getting a bit heated. With Nya diving down to hit the ball, and you jumping back to make sure the ball didn’t land outside your area.
“Go Nya!” Kai and Jay shout,
Zane smiles cheering as well, “You got this (y/n)!” hearing Coles voice it seemed he decided to wake up and be on your side.
You huff as you dove to push the ball up to Nya, she was quick to serve it back hitting it with full force. It was too fast as it drops to your side bouncing out of bounds, the guy’s cheer for Nya and you saying good game as Kai goes to retrieve the ball for the boys to have their volleyball game.
Nya comes to offer you a hand, “oh my gosh, that was so cool (y/n)!” Nya gushes as she hugs you, “you were really good too Nya!” you hug back impressed with her skill just as much as she was with yours.
You walk over to Zane as Nya goes over to Jay and Kai, “you did great, there were moments where I was sure you would have won.” You chuckle, “Nya is really good, she’s incredible!” you look to her laughing as she was scolding Kai for picking a fight with Jay for something you weren’t sure of.
“You are amazing as well (y/n), do not forget that your talents deserve praise too.” Zane places a hand on your shoulder. You smile to him nodding, “I won’t, especially if you’re there to remind me~” you raise on your toes to wrap your arms around Zane, kissing his nose with yours.
“Hey, love birds, you gonna join us” Kai chuckles calling you guys, you both look to Kai and smile, “let’s go beat his butt, Zane!” you grin playfully determined to win this time, Zane smiles as he lets you lead him to your side.
He watches you play, hitting the ball when it came to him, he mostly just wanted to watch you, seeing your body twist and turn made his gears work even harder to calm his blushing face.
“Ahaha, we won!!” You run to Zane as Cole pats his back, chuckling at your guy’s victory. Kai groans as Jay and Nya congratulates you guys.
The sun was starting to come down as Zane stands by the grill with meat and vegetables skewered over a flame. You helped by making a place for everyone to eat, setting up plates and placing watermelon down, the rest were getting some more time in the water before having dinner and going home.
Zane looks over to you and nods signaling that the food was ready,
“Hey! Dinners ready!!” you call as your friends race over for dinner. You all sit together in a circle eating and talking finishing quickly as you all were hungry, reaching into your bag you pull out sparklers.
“Hey, you guys wanna light these?” you shake the box teasing your friends as they happily went up to you for a few sparklers.
Kai using his flames lights everyone’s sparklers, watching Jay run with his and Nya making large shapes. Cole had a bunch in his hands while Kai lazily twirls his around his fingers,
You lazily make shapes watching as the sparkler makes its way down the stick soon dispersing.
Zane was packing everything back up as you walk over to him wrapping your arms around his waist, Zane turns his head smiling at you. “Are you ready to leave, pretty girl” your tummy flutters as butterflies fly around giddily at Zane’s new nickname for you.
You nod not trusting your voice now as you let go to call for the others, hearing groans and huffs made you laugh feeling as though you were caroling your kids.
On the drive back you rode in front with Zane, you fiddled with your jacket string as you stared out the window seeing stars. Your other hand was being held by Zane’s as his other rested on the steering wheel.
“Zane” you spoke so quietly hearing your friends’ snores, but Zane heard you, even over the soft music playing. “Yes, (y/n)” his voice like silk as he called back to you, your heart felt so full to hear Zane say your name as you smile your cheeks glowing pink.
“I love you.” Your voice still quiet as you glide your thumb over Zane’s hand, Zane smiles as his eyes stayed focus on the road. But his heart and mind raced with you and only you,
“I love you too, (y/n).” His own hand moves to firmly grasp your hand moving his thumb to touch every space of your hand. Wishing to feel more of your body next to his, maybe you two can cuddle together in his bed when you both get home. Zane side glances you for a second seeing you were nodding off, his constant glide of his thumb seemed to be lulling you to sleep. Yes, that sounded like a good idea, cuddling with his girlfriend, when you all get home,
Zane wakes the others leaving you last as he carries you inside in a bridal style. His friends volunteer themselves to bringing the things inside and cleaning up much to Zane’s appreciation.
He carries you up to his room, laying you down on his bed he lays behind you pulling your body close to his as he spoons you.
Just like how you would with him when you first showed him to cuddle, He smiles fondly at the memory as he feels your chest rise slowly under his arm. Closing his eyes Zane falls asleep along with you. Your slow breathing providing as a natural melatonin.
“I love you, (y/n)” Zane mutters out before going into a sleep mode.

Acting Strange part 1
Main pairing: Geralt/Jaskier Characters: Geralt, Jaskier, Eskel, Lambert, Vesemir. Warnings: None so far Geralt was acting strange, not in the normal silent brooding strange that Jaskier had come to be familiar with but a new strange that was, well, very strange. Ever since the two fell into bed together, Geralt has been more… considerate. No, that wasn’t the word. Attentive, maybe? Anyway, the word didn’t matter; what mattered was that Geralt was acting strange, and Jaskier was going to get to the bottom of it.
It started strangely, with dried and pressed flowers appearing in his bags. Shortly after, the two parted for the winter. The flowers were hidden away in Jaskier’s things, so he’d spend weeks finding them: roses, Lavenders, and Tulips, to name a few. Next was when they joined together during spring, a few weeks after the snow melted. Geralt was well rested after his season away, while Jaskier was jumping with energy after spending his time cooped up teaching. Jaskier would kiss Geralt upon first meeting, and his witcher would kiss him back, but he’d go no further till they were alone. Where Geralt would take his time, taking Jaskier apart. This, while amazing, was strange to Jaskier; they were just friends, now with benefits, right? No real emotion attached. But laying awake a night held tight in Geralt's arms makes Jaskier feel something tight in his heart, a familiar feeling in its own way. Jaskier has fallen in love before and has been loved in return, so why was this so different?
—---
Geralt started with a plan. It is a very straightforward plan to court a human bard. Geralt did all the research on courting customs, preparing for the perfect winter. Geralt had already proven to be a phenomenal hunter, dropping trophies and likes from his kills, and he’s proven himself a valiant protector from jealous husbands and monsters alike. Next was an invitation to spend the season with him in Kaer Morhen, setting the stage for the trials. Now, he just needed to show Jaskier he could provide a safe home to raise their pups - not that they could have any, but that wasn’t the point. The point was that Jaskier would be his, and he would be Jaskiers. Kaer Morhen was a welcomed sight; after the march up The Killer, Jaskier was nearly frozen when they passed the gates. “Geralt, you made it!” Eskel greeted them first, pulling Geralt into a quick hug before sweeping Jaskier off his feet. “And Geralt’s bard.” “I know you know my name, Eskel. You should start using it.” Jaskier laughed, knocking his fist against the bigger witcher’s shoulder. “Of course, bard,” he teased, throwing his arm over Jaskier's shoulder and pulling him close to his warm chest. “Let's get you inside before you freeze.” “But Geralt-” “Go, I’ll settle Roach in,” Geralt tells them; he must unpack secretly.
—--------- Jaskier was two bowls of soup with a blanket draped over his shoulders. Geralt found them there, drinking by the fire in the kitchen. Lambert's smell permeated the place, meaning the younger wolf must have been here first, cooking up a storm. Despite what some people think, Lambert was a surprisingly good cook when he wasn’t experimenting with ingredients like he does with his Alchemy. “What’s on the fire?” Geralt asked, grabbing a bowl and a chunk of bread to eat. “Venison.” Eskel answered, “And some root vegetables,” “Hmm,” Geralt takes a small taste before downing the bowl in a few gulps. “Hungry, I take it,” Lambert teases, walking to the room with a tray of fresh bread. Eskel makes to grab one but is swiftly kicked in the shin. The bread smelled incredible, with hints of brown sugar and cinnamon that had everyone’s mouths watering. “Hands off, you bastard,” Lambert orders, setting the tray on a cooling rack. “They’re not ready yet.” “Sure, little wolf.” Eskel teases, this time prepared for Lambert's retaliation. He uses his sheer size and strength to maneuver Lambert into a headlock, placing a loud kiss against the younger wolf’s head. “Mwah!” “Get off!” Lambert growls, trying to bite and wiggle his way out, but Eskel had a firm hold.
Jaskier chuckled at their antics, a bright smile across his face that had Geralt staring. Suddenly, Geralt’s lap had an angry little wolf in it. Lambert was cussing up a storm as he was dropped in Geralt’s lap. He was about to get up and dive at Eskel if Geralt’s arms hadn’t automatically wrapped around him, giving Eskel time to escape.  “That’s right, you better run!” Lambert yelled back, jumping out of Geralt’s lap and chasing after his brother. Jaskier could tell this was going to be an exciting winter.

How Your Backpacking Meals Are Really Made
Tumblr media
By Emily Pennington (excerpted from the July 14, 2024 article in Backpacker)
A faint whiff of cumin and cracked black pepper serenades my nostrils, reminiscent of the Indian spice markets I once visited in my mid-twenties. Only, I’m not in South Asia, or even the back storeroom of a hip Thai restaurant; I’m in my hometown of Boulder, Colorado, touring the massive factory where Backpacker’s Pantry meals are made.
My host for the morning is Soraya Smith, the company’s president and recipe-development chef. Smith, who had always been involved on the recipe side of American Outdoor Products (the parent organization of Backpacker’s Pantry) took over as president after her husband, Rodney, died in a tragic ski accident in 2020. She’s been the face of the family-owned corporation ever since.
“I’m from a foodie family,” explained Smith. “My mom is Spanish-Italian, and my father is from Iran, so we’re very multicultural. I also went to Culinary School of the Rockies before stepping into this role.”
Tumblr media
Our first stop was the test kitchen, where Smith pulled different dry ingredients together to experiment with new recipe ideas. To be totally honest, the various plastic bags she grabbed out of a large bin looked more like the Parmesan cheese packets you’d get for free with your pizza delivery than high-quality foodstuffs. But therein contained the secrets to my favorite post-hike meals: proprietary flavorings and mixes, which Backpacker’s Pantry makes with freeze-dried ingredients.
As we entered the factory’s enormous storeroom, I asked Smith for a refresher: What exactly is freeze drying?
Freeze-drying technology was used extensively by NASA during the space boom of the 1960s. Since freeze-dried food retains more than 90 percent of its original nutrients, it’s the best way to keep astronauts stocked with nutritious food. Better yet, the food can last for years without going bad.
When an ingredient is freeze-dried, it’s brought to an inhospitable -60°F, then back above freezing multiple times while inside a vacuum chamber. That way, only the ingredient’s water content is removed. “Some companies make a large sheet of, say, lasagna, cook it, and then dehydrate it,” Smith said. “We, on the other hand, mix each of our freeze-dried ingredients into the bag, so that when you add that boiling water, most of them are getting cooked for the first time. It’s fresher, and I think it has a better texture.”

Once workers grab individual ingredients from the palettes in the store room, they go to the dedicated mixing room, where seasonings and starches are stirred together in large tubs. The room looks like a sterile, high-tech scene out of Willy Wonka.
Here, Smith points out that the brand adheres to a strict allergen separation system. For instance, a recipe with gluten won’t get run through the machines on the same day as a gluten-free recipe to protect customers with gluten intolerances. Ditto for dairy products. (Workers clean the machines thoroughly at the end of each day by passing them through a chrome-covered, bedroom-sized industrial dishwasher.)
After mixing, the meals are mechanically portioned out by category—sauce, starch, meat, and vegetable—then sealed by hand. Workers sample the meals throughout the day, preparing a baggie to taste-test at the beginning, middle, and end of each run. The goal is to ensure the flavors remain consistent throughout. Forks and counter space are set aside in the test kitchen for this specific purpose. If something doesn’t taste right, they ditch the batch and correct it.
The Backpacker’s Pantry factory produces thousands of meals each day. Once the day’s meals get sealed, boxed, and quality checked, they head into a gigantic storeroom, which then ships the products to big retailers, like REI, as well as directly to consumers.
As I closed the huge warehouse doors behind me and concluded my tour, I was surprised to feel tremendously better about all that just-add-water food I’d been eating. The ingredients were both fresher than I’d imagined and more rigorously quality-checked. Ninety percent of their original nutrients, huh? Heck, maybe I’ll toss a couple under my desk to eat in the office.

Egg Processing Market Chronicles: From Farm to Fork, The Journey Unveiled
Tumblr media
Eggs are processed and packaged to extend their shelf life and provide convenience to customers. The major egg processing products include dried egg products, liquid egg products, and frozen egg products. Dried egg products are made by dehydrating the egg and mainly used as ingredients in baked goods, noodles, and other prepared foods. Liquid egg products involve processing fresh eggs into egg white, egg yolks, and whole eggs which are packaged in cartons, bottles, or bags. Frozen egg products involve freezing whole eggs or breaking them and then freezing the whites and yolks separately. These processed products find applications in foodservice, food ingredients, and retail applications.
The Egg Processing market is estimated to be valued at US$ 51.9 Bn in 2023 and is expected to exhibit a CAGR of 5.8% over the forecast period 2023-2030, as highlighted in a new report published by Coherent Market Insights. Market Dynamics: The demand for packaged and convenience food products is growing rapidly owing to busy lifestyles and rising disposable income. Processed egg products offer convenience benefits such as long shelf life, ease of use, and consistent quality. This drives the demand for processed egg products from foodservice operators and food manufacturers. Additionally, the egg processing industry is trying to reduce its carbon footprint by adopting sustainable and eco-friendly processing technologies such as egg breakers that use less water and energy. Growing health-consciousness is also pushing demand for egg white products with low cholesterol. The egg processing market players are focusing on developing varied product offerings to satisfy the requirements of different application segments. There is also opportunity in developing countries with growing populations and incomes. Threats: Avian influenza outbreaks threaten supply and increase costs. Stricter environmental and food safety regulations also increase compliance costs. Key Takeaways The global egg processing market is expected to witness high growth, exhibiting CAGR of 5.8% over the forecast period, due to increasing demand for protein-rich and convenient foods. The egg processing market size for 2023 is US$ 51.9 Bn. Regional analysis related content comprises The North American region currently dominates the global egg processing market, accounting for over 35% share. However, the Asia Pacific region is expected to exhibit highest CAGR of over 7% during the forecast period due to rapid urbanization and changing lifestyles in major economies like China and India. Key players related content comprises Key players operating in the egg processing market are Avril, Cal-Maine Foods, Inc., Eurovo S.R.L., Lactosan-Sanovo Holding A/S, Moba B.V., and ACTINI GROUP. These players are focusing on capacity expansion and product innovation to cater to the growing demand for processed egg products.

Cutting Wheatgrass as Needed From the Tray May Not Be as Beneficial as You Think
We have some juice bars that want to purchase Wheatgrass in a tray. I always find this odd for a number of reasons. The only benefit I can think of is fooling the customer into thinking this is the “best” way to drink wheatgrass. But there are a lot of things to consider when ordering this shot of “freshly” cut wheatgrass. For example,
Is it hydroponically grown or grown in compost? – Hydroponic wheatgrass is a whole other article, but if it has in fact been grown in soil/compost then the restaurant or juice bar has brought soil into a “clean” environment. Lots of things live in soil and they have now potentially brought things into their prep area that were not ever meant to be there. This is a food safety hazard that should be considered.
Tumblr media
How much nutrient storage is lost by not cutting at the optimal time? – The reason why microgreens are more nutritious than their fully grown adult plants is because the seed has everything needed to grow up to a certain point. We capture that nutrition by harvesting the green when it is young at the optimal time. After the optimal time the plant starts pulling from the soil (if it is grown in soil) or from a bath of nutrients mixed in water (hydroponically). It also uses some of its own nutrients for its growth into adulthood. It is difficult to say how much nutrients are lost at the various stages after the plant is not cut at the optimal time. By harvesting at the optimal time and placing in a bag, you have captured the maximum amount of nutrients possible from that microgreen or wheatgrass. So, the tray that has dried out and been sitting there in the juice bar being hacked away at for several days or been in the back waiting to be brought out may be past its prime!
Don’t be fooled by marketing tactics of “fresh” wheatgrass being cut right in front of you. It probably is not the best way to drink wheatgrass. Oh yeah, and the flavor can also change too! Look for a wheatgrass  juice bar that serves Andi’s Way. You can always request it to be ordered in for you. We ship nationwide and are happy to supply your local juice bar!
How to properly store Wheatgrass
Wheatgrass is temperature sensitive and will become a translucent color when it goes bad. We recommend storing your wheatgrass in the vegetable or “crisper” drawer in your refrigerator. The back part of your refrigerator is the coldest and can freeze delicate produce such as lettuce, strawberries, and wheatgrass. The door of your refrigerator tends to be the warmest part of your refrigerator and fluctuates in temperature the most. It is not a place to store wheatgrass. The top shelf of your refrigerator is the next warmest part of your refrigerator because cold air sinks in.
The humidity drawers of your refrigerator sometimes have a humidity control slider on them. The lower the number the lower the humidity. When you slide the lever toward the lower numbers it opens a window in the drawer allowing humidity and gases to escape. When you want more humidity in the drawer, the action of dialing a higher number closes that window, trapping humidity and gases. What humidity setting your wheatgrass needs will determine how wet the grass was when cut. Look at your bag and if it has water beads on the inside of the bag, it will need a lower humidity setting. Another option is to place a clean folded paper towel in the bag to absorb some of the moisture.
If you notice that the wheatgrass is turning before the best by date on the back of the bag, check your temperature setting on your refrigerator. Ideal temperature for wheatgrass is between 35 and 37 degrees and ideal for your refrigerator is between 34 and 38 degrees.

Make-Ahead Breakfast Ideas to Make Your Mornings Less Stressful
Make-Ahead Breakfast Ideas to Make Your Mornings Less Stressful https://kimjanese.org/make-ahead-breakfast-ideas-to-make-your-mornings-less-stressful/ Mornings can be a frenzy, with the rush to get ready, catch a commute, or prepare for a day’s tasks. In such chaos, breakfast, the day’s most important meal, often takes a backseat. However, with some planning and wise choices, you can ensure that your mornings are nutritionally sound without adding to the rush.  The idea of a make-ahead meal isn’t novel. Historically, households have prepared food staples in advance to save daily cooking time. Whether it’s the age-old technique of fermenting batters or prepping dough, make-ahead techniques have been an integral part of culinary traditions. Over time, as lives have become busier, the importance of these methods has surged. Today’s make-ahead breakfast options cater to a spectrum of dietary needs and palates, ensuring you can start your day right without the last-minute hustle. Overnight Oats Variations Overnight oats have overtaken the culinary world due to their simplicity and versatility. Here’s how to create your perfect jar. Your thick, creamy, and flavorful oats are ready to eat in the morning. The endless variations allow you to mix and match ingredients per your preferences. Base Recipe: Combine rolled oats with a liquid of your choice (like almond milk, yogurt, or cow’s milk) in a 1:2 ratio. Ensure that the oats are submerged. Sweeteners: Add honey, maple syrup, or a sugar substitute. Fruits and Nuts: Toss in your favorite fruits (berries, banana slices, or dried fruits) and nuts or seeds (chia, flaxseed, almonds). Flavor Boosters: Vanilla extract, cocoa powder, or cinnamon can elevate the taste. Stir and Refrigerate: Mix everything in a jar and refrigerate overnight. Breakfast Burritos and Wraps  Breakfast burritos or wraps are the answer for those who crave a savory start. They are not just delicious but also portable. These wraps offer a balanced mix of proteins, fibers, and essential vitamins. Prep The Fillings: Scramble some eggs with diced vegetables like bell peppers, spinach, and tomatoes. Add cooked beans, cheese, or lean meat for added protein. Wrap it Up: Lay out a whole wheat or spinach tortilla, place your filling in the center, and roll it up securely. Freeze: Wrap each burrito in aluminum foil and place them in the freezer. Reheat and Eat: On busy mornings, grab a burrito, microwave for 2-3 minutes, and you’re good to go. Smoothie Packs  Smoothie packs can be a lifesaver for those who like a liquid breakfast. They’re an amalgamation of flavors, textures, and nutrition. These pre-portioned packs save the morning prep time and ensure a fresh and tasty smoothie within minutes. Choose Your Ingredients: This can be a combination of fruits (like berries, bananas, or mangoes), leafy greens (spinach or kale), and protein sources (Greek yogurt, protein powder). Pre-Portion: Divide your ingredients into serving sizes and place them in freezer bags or containers. Freeze: Store these packs in the freezer. Blend: When ready for your smoothie, empty a pack into a blender, add a liquid (water, milk, or juice), and blend until smooth. Embracing make-ahead breakfast ideas can genuinely revolutionize your mornings. These strategies not only save you precious time but also ensure that you don’t compromise on nutrition. With some preparation, it’s possible to have the best of both worlds: a relaxed morning and a nourishing start to the day. Remember, the essence lies in customizing these ideas according to your taste and nutritional needs. Over time, as you familiarize yourself with these methods, you can experiment and innovate, adding your unique touch to these breakfast delights. Mystery magnets Volume 2 chapter 2
Tumblr media
Bronzing had met up with Mick and Finick  after they got out of school. She’d invited them to go skating at the lake that’d frozen over. They walked towards the center park carrying their skates in their bags. They got onto the frozen lake and Bronzing noted that they were the first ones there. Finick had never skated before so Bronzing and Mick got on the ice to show him how.
Bronzing was quite comfortable skating though she had to order custom skates due to her talons. She was gliding freely across the ice twirling and doing jumps as Finick cheered her on. Mick wasn’t as extravagant as her when it came to skating though he was decently good considering his lack of experience. He skated near the edge passing Finick who was positively glowing with excitement .
Bronzing noticed Mick start to fall as he neared the center of the lake so she quickly skated over to him. She grabbed Mick’s wrist as he frantically tried to stop his descent. Bronzing gasped in horror as her hand glowed a familiar bronze creeping across his skin. She quickly relinquished her grasp but it was too late, it continued to spread, consuming his body. She heard Finick’s cries as she grabbed his bronzed body. She gripped him tight feeling the salty sting of tears as they filled her eyes.
The bronze cracked under her grasp releasing a stream of blood from the gap. Bronzing’s horror only grew as she saw the growing puddle of black slowly freezing as it made contact with the ice. Was Mick slowly suffocating within his own skin and his body couldn’t move to bring in air?
Bronzing tried to move him to the shore where Finick was screaming in misery at the current events. She felt the ice begin to give under the weight and everything went black.
Bronzing woke with a start feeling her sheets soaked through with sweat. She was panting heavily as she stood up claws clacking on the hardwood floor. She headed to her bathroom and proceeded to bend over the toilet as the contents of her stomach emptied. Afterwards she stood there for a minute dry heaving as her body tried to expel more than what it could.
She slipped out of her pajamas and opened the curtain to her shower removing her bandages as she adjusted the water temperature. She stepped into the warm spray letting it wash over her even as it burned her healing wounds. She felt horrific after what she’d dreamed, crying softly as she thought about it. She let the water run over her until it went cold, turning the handle to shut it off.
She grabbed a fluffy bathrobe, slipping it on before she headed towards her living room. She opened her curtains slightly before taking a seat in one of her arm chairs. The first snow of the year had arrived and she watched as the flakes drifted down into the streets. She sat there breathing slowly as she calmed down. She closed her curtains before turning her tv on flipping through the channels as she dried off.
Bronzing got ready for another day pulling her sweaters on. She had to bike over to the outskirts to shovel snow. Jackman paid her quite well to shovel every path in the outskirts. She grabbed her large snow shovel and secured it on the back of her bike before she climbed on the seat. She rode along the road drifting on her turns until she got to the edge of town. She took the path through the woods sending snow flying as her wheels glided along the path. She reached the edge of town seeing the typically populated area deserted as the various residents were bundled up within the confines of their tents.
She untied her shovel and went to work careful to not take gravel with the snow she was hurling into disorganized piles. She’d worked her way over to the tour guide booth giving Rebbeca a wave as she passed her. She knew everyone in the outskirts by name at this point.
She continued working her way upwards through the town passing by people heading off to classes for the day. Jackman was already outside when she laid eyes on him. He was working with some kind of red pumpkin and a saw.
“Good morning Jackman” Bronzing called as she waved at him.
“G’day Bronzing” Jackman responded returning her wave with a warm grin and he tried sawing into the red pumpkin. Bronzing finished shoveling the walkways approaching Jackman's workstation.
“Whacha doing?” Bronzing asked as she leaned on her shovel
“I’m going to bake some blood pumpkin pie later,” Jackman responded “Thought I’d get cutting the pumpkin out of the way” He finished as her continued sawing into the Thick skinned gourd “I put you money on the kitchen counter go right on in,”
“Thanks Jackman,” Bronzing said as she opened the tent flaps, grabbing her check and heading off. “Have a good day” She said before continuing
“Thanks, you too,” Jackman said
Bronzing had returned home straightening her feathers out from being pushed down by her helmet. She took a seat in her armchair and grabbed a file beginning to work on her claws. She sat sideways leaning back as she relaxed before she had to head to work later. She’d got on at a pop-up christmas store for the month before she’d have to go searching for her next seasonal employment.
Her eyelids started drooping from the lack of sleep and he turned the tv on for something to try and focus on. She soon drifted off despite her attempts going limp in her chair.
Bronzing was standing in a room that she didn’t recognize. It was very dark and the curtains had orange stars spilling into a hauntingly red sky. She was standing on a black rug with a silver crescent moon and a red border. She noticed a figure laying between red sheets, chest rising softly between breaths. She looked closer and saw it was Mick still covered in bandages from his kidnapping.
She couldn’t control her body as she started approaching him. He hadn’t woken up from her loud footsteps as she moved from the carpet to the hardwood. She couldn’t do anything as her hands started reaching for his neck claws sharp from her filing. Her hands made contact tightening until- RING RING RING!
Bronzing woke up to her alarm telling her to get ready for work. She was sweating heavily and would need a brisk shower before she headed into work. She got up from her armchair and headed into her bedroom. She entered the bathroom and hopped over the tub wall.
She grabbed a bagel and cheese from the kitchen and headed out the door walking her bike down the hall towards the elevator. She hopped on her bike heading down the street with practiced ease as she headed to her seasonal job.
Bronzing got off work a few hours later and Biked over to Mick’s house to see how he was doing. She set her bike next to the porch and climbed the steps before ringing the doorbell. Death answered the door looking exhausted as she stepped out.
“Hello Bronzing” Death said tiredly
“Hi Miss Toggle,” Bronzing said politely, “Can I see Mick?”
“Sure he’s not up but you can see him,” Death stated, “Just be quiet he needs his rest,” She moved to the side allowing Bronzing to enter the house.
Bronzing smelled cookies when she entered the doorway Joseph must be baking. She walked up the steps and opened Mick’s door. She immediately froze in terror it was identical to her dream aside from Finick’s sleeping form in an armchair he must’ve dragged upstairs. She slowly approached the bed looking at Mick’s unconscious form as he snoozed. She stood there staring at him, breathing getting heavy. She slid down until she was sitting on the carpet panting hard.
She heard Mick start to stir and she tried to stand back up but she felt paralized her limbs wouldn't cooperate and she fell onto her stomach.
“Nghh Hello?” came Mick’s groggy voice, “Who’s there?” Mick sat up squinting in the low light. “Bronzing you ‘right?” Mick asked as he saw her laying face down on his rug.
“I-i’m Fine,” She said as she scrambled to get up. Mick raised an eyebrow at this, clearly not buying it.
“You’re fine?” Mick said as he peered down at her with a disapproving look.
“Y-yeah I just need to get back up,” Bronzing responded as she finally pushed herself into a sitting position. Mick still looked unconvinced.
“You clearly not,” Mick deadpanned as she looked up at him from her spot on the floor.
“You’re right,” Bronzing admitted, trying not to meet his resolute gaze.
“What’s wrong?” Mick asked, his voice showing a rare hint of emotion. Bronzing took a deep breath trying to calm her nerves before she admitted her problems.
“I’ve been having nightmares about you and I saw your room in one of them, and it looked like you’re actual room here, and it freaked me out,” Bronzing said
“Nightmares about me?” Mick said showing slight concern mixed with confusion “Are you scared of me?”
“No! No! No!” Bronzing quickly backpedaled realizing she needed to be more specific. “The nightmares have been about you dying because of me” She admitted.
“I don’t know what to say to that” Mick said, no longer meeting her eyes as fiercely. Bronzing averted her gaze.
“W-when did this start?” Mick asked, voice shaking.
“The day I turned the Angel to bronze” Bronzing said, still not meeting Mick’s eyes.
“That’s interesting,” Mick said as he looked deep in thought as he tried to tie the events together. “Is her death involved with your nightmares?” Mick asked.
“In one of them I accidentally turned you to bronze and you started bleeding,” Bronzing said.
“Maybe seeing if the Angel’s bronzed body bleeds will give you some closure?” Mick suggested.
“How would I even get back there?” Bronzing asked, she stowed away in some kind of interdimensional carriage last time.
“I’ll handle it,” Mick said as he started shaking Finick.
Huh-wha-” Finick said as he jolted awake from his armchair.
“Hey Finick, could you help me with something?” Mick asked,
“Of course! What is it?” Finick exclaimed, jumping onto his feet.
“Can you grab the silver embroidered book off the shelf for me?” Mick replied.
“Okie Dokie Mickie!” Finick said before he ran off leaving Mick to roll his eyes. Bronzing gave him an odd look as she tried getting back up again. “I got it,'' Finick said as he handed the book to Mick.
“This will allow you to open a portal straight to the Angel’s doorstep,” Mick explained, turning to a page before bookmarking it “Finick, will you go with her to make sure she’ll be alright?”
“What about you?” Finick asked.
“If anything happens my parents are downstairs or you could ask Jasmine if you’re that worried,” Mick stated calmly.
“Okay I’ll be right back” Finick said as he took off down the hall presumedly to ask Jasmine to keep an eye on Mick. Finick returned with Jasmine following shortly. She took Finick’s seat as he grabbed the ornate book from Mick and flipped to the bookmarked page. A glow appeared in front of Finick and he motioned for Bronzing to go ahead.
Bronzing took a deep breath and jumped through the glowing vortex.
Bronzing felt dizzy as she fell to the tiled floor, Finick helping her up. Only a month had passed since Fate and The Angel’s deaths but it looked as though years had passed. Thorny vines penetrated the stained glass windows though Bronzing was relieved at the lack of eyes on them. Flowers bloomed from cracks in the tile.
They walked into the large ballroom where the bodies laid. Bronzing gagged at the smell of Fate’s rotting carcass flies buzzed around it as maggots and beetles feasted on his flesh. She noticed an odd trail of blood making it appear that he’d been dragged a couple of feet. She didn’t remember him being tossed around so much but she was sort of in shock at the time so she brushed it off.
Finick was standing over by the Bronzed form of The Angel. She grabbed at one of the wings and pulled hard until a “SNAP” echoed throughout the room. She looked at the broken bronze and saw that it was solid all the way though. She let out a relieved sigh at the lack of blood.
She walked over to a bunch of wild flowers and tore them free from their stems. Finick gave her an odd look as she placed them on The Angel's body.
“Even if she was horrible she deserves some respect in death,” Bronzing explained as she walked away from the body. Finick quickly followed her as she surveyed the property. In the corner of her eye she swore she could see something moving just out of sight but she kept on regardless.
She saw what were once likely ornate gardens overgrown and ruined dead plants mixing with live wildflowers. She surveyed the area before heading back into the ballroom. She saw that more flowers had been placed on The Angel’s body. Her body tensed as she motioned for Finick to reopen the portal. The glowing vortex appeared and they quickly dashed through it not wanting to know what was watching them.
Alicia watched as the duo left the mansion hiding herself in the shadows. She’d left Ficky and Suzie to do whatever they were doing as she’d felt something enter what was once her home. She saw the bronze one put flowers on her mother’s body and felt compelled to do the same. She thinks it’s the least she can do as she's not strong enough to move the bodies to be buried she’d already tried. She grabbed some more wild flowers and flew over the decomposing body of her grandfather and dropped them.
She took one last walk around the premises looking at decaying walls and cracked flooring. Her grandfather’s power was no longer holding nature at bay as it had done for several millennia. She flew off one of the balconies as made her way back to Suzie’s apartment, her new ‘home’.
Bronzing’s landing was cushioned by Mick’s carpet as she returned to his bedroom.
“How’d it go?” Mick asked as Finick and her tried to stand.
“I found that the body was solid Bronze,” Bronzing said “Though something was watching us,”
“That’s odd,” Mick stated, “No one should be able to get over there,”
“Maybe it was some kind of guard monster thing?” Finick asked timidly.
“Maybe but wouldn’t you have seen it the last time you guys were in there?” Mick replied.
“Whatever it was it can wait for another day. I'm too tired for mysteries,” Bronzing said as she stood up.
“The detective is too tired for mysteries?” Mick asked teasingly, making Bronzing snort.
“Anyways i’m going to head out”
“Okay see ya Bronzing”
“See you later,” Bronzing replied as she headed down the stairs.
“Wait!” Death said before Bronzing could open the door.
“Yeah?” Bronzing asked, looking at the hellhound who was carrying something.
“Take some cookies Joseph made way too many” Death said as she shoved a brown paper bag into Bronzing’s arms.
“Oh thank you Miss Toggle” Bronzing said as she held them in her lower set of arms.
“It’s no problem sweetie” Death said as she ruffled Bronzing’s feathers.
Bronzing placed the bag in her bike’s basket and took off through the streets. It was already getting dark, the sky bleeding reds and oranges as the sun set over the horizon. She scattered snow as she flew down the sidewalks until she reached her apartment complex.
She walked through the main doors rolling her bike alongside her. She took the stairs until she got to her floor, setting her bike against the wall and taking a sugar cookie out of the bag. It was really good though it wasn’t a surprise Joseph was a very good baker. She entered her room and got undressed hopping in the shower before pulling her pajamas on. She laid down passing out almost immediately.
Bronzing was biking through the park watching cherry blossoms fall over the spring grass. Mick had invited her to go fishing with him and Finick as he wasn’t very good and of course she’d said yes. She pulled up to the lake where her friends were sitting. Quinn and Alfred must’ve also been invited as Quinn was already adjusting their rod. She waved to them as she walked over to the lake.
She pulled her rod out of her fishing bag and baited it taking a spot next to Mick on the short dock. She cast her line when the line began to glow she saw her line stiffen and realized she’d turned it to bronze. Mick laughed slightly at this and she joined in because it was better than accidentally turning someone into bronze.
Bronzing woke up to her alarm and she smiled at having a peaceful dream for once. She saw that a new layer of snow had formed overnight and she got ready for a day of work.

Every Prepper should set goals and create short-term and long-term plans to be ready for any eventuality. The SurvivalBlog editors will be sharing their weekly prep activities and plans for the next week. These include gear purchases and healthcare, as well as gardening, ranch improvements and bug out bag fine-tuning. This is similar to the Retreat Owner Profiles but written in increments and in details throughout the year. We welcome your success stories and wisdom to be shared in e-mails. Many of these - or excerpts thereof - are posted in this column, the Odds ‘n Sods Column and the Snippets Column. Let's get busy and be prepared! Jim Reports: Our shop insulating/partitioning/pegboarding/shelving project is still in progress. Once I have all the rivet shelves installed, I will work on better organizing our tools and materials. This will be a busy winter for me. But, hey, "What's the time to a hog?" Our shop will soon enter the "decorating” stage. Long-time SurvivalBlog readers will recall that I am a collector license plates. I'll be able to add many more plates to my collection with the new shop partitions. Please send me any old plates that you still have in a flat rate USPS box. They would be greatly appreciated! Although I may want to collect foreign plates and very old plates, my current license plate collection consists of four main themes. Bible verse custom plates. Permanent plates and plates with "Perm” stickers Custom plates that refer to hunting, guns or cartridges. Plates with wildlife theme -- especially deer and elk My inspiration to start my license plate collection was around 1974 when I saw the first "vanity" plates on an old Jeep in my hometown, Livermore, California. It said: " 7MM4ELK". In 1970, California introduced custom plates through a law signed into law by Ronald Reagan. Our postal address: SurvivalBlog.com P.O. P.O. Box 303 Moyie Springs, Idaho 83845 Many Thanks! Now, let's move on to Lily... Avalanche Lilily Reports: Dear Readers It is continuing to be very beautiful and sunny with high temperatures in seventies and lows of the thirties, forties. Although I love the warmth and sunshine, we are at an abnormally dry level according to the drought monitor. Two more trees provided me with apples this week. Only four out of seven trees produced apples this year. All the rest of our trees probably needed some rest. I have one tree I will allow to grow the apples until the forecasted hard freeze hits, which is likely to be on the 23rd of the month. For the first time, I harvested hazelnuts from our young hazelnut trees. Exciting! They are drying now. I will share more information later. I took half of my celery and washed, chopped, and dried it. The rest I kept in the fridge. Since planting herbs last year and this, I'm a novice in herb gardening. I was able to grow a handful of varieties of mint, parsley and cilantro before. I harvested sage and put it in the dryer with the mint, oregano and celery for the first time. I also picked dill, rosemary, and horehound -- all firsts for me. (Well, I actually picked and used the dill earlier this summer). They can be left on a windowsill until the celery, mint and sage have been dried in the dehydrator. Except for the sage, all of these herbs were grown at our greenhouse. I made five more trays in the greenhouse and planted Winter thyme basil, Winter thyme and Winter cress. This week we had two light frosts in one morning. I decided to end the season of squash in the woodshed garden, and the compost pile. I harvested the remaining squash that I had harvested after the first light frost a month back. I left the smaller squash to grow if the weather was good, which it was. I cleaned the vines in both areas, and then rototilled the soil in the woodshed to plant 218 garlic cloves and five rows of potatoes, Viking, Yukon and Red. We will see how they do in the soil, and then grow next spring.
To get ahead of spring, I plan to plant some more vegetables in the next weeks: turnips, carrots and beets. (See the article by Garden Therapy. After a Shmittah Year rest, I started breaking ground (rototilling), in the Main garden to prepare it for next spring. We will then rototill the soil and spread the compost over it. I cleaned the henhouse. The chicks are doing well. These are the videos that I saw this week, which point to Biblical prophecies occurring in the coming seven year, the next Shmittah period of which very well could also be the last Shmittah phase during which Jesus may return. For more information, please refer to the books of Revelation and Daniel 24'' Keep in mind that Israel today is the timepiece. Israel was created in 1948. In 2028, she will turn eighty-years-old. Psalm 90 says that a man's lifespan is seventy and eighty years if there is strength. Jesus stated in Matthew 24:that the generation who sees, the "Fig Tree", blossoms (Hosea 9.10: I found Israel like grapes in a wilderness; but, they went to Baalpeor and separated themselves from their love; and their abominations are according to what they loved.") He will never leave us before he returns. Israel is the Fig tree. We are therefore most likely within the time frame for His return. Matthew 24:32: Learn a parable about the fig tree. When his branch is still tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. As you will see these things, you'll also know it is close, even at the door. Verily, I say unto thee, This generation will not pass, until all these things are fulfilled Heaven and Earth shall pass away, but my words will not pass away. Every aspect of the world's current events, whether they are geopolitical, economic, cultural, political, or agricultural, seems to be in line with the prophetic scriptures. Let us keep our eyes open and pray for protection from the Lord God and His wisdom and guidance during these treacherous times. We wish you all a blessed and safe week. - Avalanche Lily, Rawles o o o Please share your successes and wisdom with us by sending e-mails. We will publish them in the "Snippets” column next week. We would love to hear from your.

Hey, happy birthday! I've been simmering on a fic idea where Din does a little bday celebration for Grogu, but if you wanted to tackle it I bet it'd be terrific 😊. Have a good weekend.
A little more melancholy than fluffy, but I hope you enjoy nonetheless!
-
Din walked through the market, the pod trailing quietly along after him, the kid asleep inside. Much as the kid enjoyed the sights and sounds of towns, Din found supply runs easier with him quiet and asleep. The kid awake, curious, and cute drew too much attention from others, and often extended the shopping trip with his antics.
Din stopped at a preserved food stall for more ration bars and a few freeze-dried things he hoped the kid would like trying. It was still a guessing game about what he would accept and what he would use as a toy instead. Din was still scrubbing bello berries off part of the cargo hold.
On instinct, Din glanced around as the seller packed up Din’s purchases. No danger so far; the market had been quiet, but Din wasn’t taking any chances. He scanned the nearby shoppers and stalls and buildings. A holosign blinked, catching his eye, but the neon letters were just spelling out the date and time. Din blinked. He wasn’t one for marking the day, but that date seemed familiar…
Suddenly he realized. One year ago, he’d stood in a dusty compound on Nevarro, opened a pod containing a 50-year-old bounty, and his life had changed forever.
“Sir, your items,” said the shopkeeper, and Din hurriedly took the bag from the shopkeeper. But he could barely keep his eyes off the pod and the precious cargo it contained.
One whole year, he thought as he walked through the market, pod still in tow. One whole year! It seemed like another lifetime when he was just the tribe’s beroya, before he found, turned in, rescued, and ultimately was declared the father of the little green child that was now the center of his entire life. Had it really been an entire year?
Din stopped and glanced back. If it had been a whole year, then the kid wasn’t even fifty anymore. He was fifty-one.
Din didn’t know the kid’s real birthday, or if his culture - from birth or the Jedi - even celebrated birthdays. They weren’t a big deal to the Mandalorians, simply acknowledged; although his sixteenth birthday had been the day Din formally swore the Creed, that had been more about the oath than his age. Maybe the kid didn’t care?
But maybe he did. Before the Mandalorians, with his family, Din remembered a special dinner and cake and present, hugs and kisses and love. He remembered his last birthday with his parents, where he’d begged and begged for the new starship models that were coming out of Republic cruisers, complete with miniature starfighters and soldiers. His parents hadn’t liked that, but he’d pleaded and said all his friends were getting them; back then the phrase “Clone Wars” didn’t mean anything to him but the holochannel being changed when he was in the room and the new toys. His parents had said again and again that war was serious and not for toys, but the morning of his birthday he’d woken up to a beautiful silver starship waiting for him at the table. Now it was probably a melted hunk of plastiform garbage somewhere in the ruins of Aq Vetina.
He’d never considered toys. They weren’t practical. But they’d been important when he was little. He remembered the special starship, a bright blue ball, a stuffed tooka he’d slept with every night. And the kid was obsessed with the shifter knob, always nabbing it as soon as Din’s back was turned. Maybe he really did need his own toy.
Din wandered away from all the practical and useful stalls to the section of the market for artisans and craftspeople. Many were geared for children - tailors hawking blankets and bedding, painters showing off wall art and holocam skills, even someone selling custom pods far more luxurious than the one the kid had now. Din passed right by that; it was definitely outside his budget. Most of the stalls seemed geared towards clientele with a house and yard and much more normal lives than a single Mandalorian bounty hunter living out of his run-down ship.
Finally Din found a stall of simple toys. Dolls and stuffies, balls and blocks and hanging activity mobiles. Din eliminated that one immediately; it would get in the way of the pod closing and he’d taught the kid to do that right away if there was danger. Maybe he’d like a ball, like the shifter knob? A doll to carry around like a companion in his pod? Something soft to hold at night?
Din’s eyes landed on a large frog plush, about as large as the kid was, made of beautiful turquoise fabric and embroidered in whimsical patterns. It was like the Sorgan frogs the kid had enjoyed so much.
“Just sixty credits,” said the shopkeeper cheerfully. “Handmade, like all my wares.”
Din peeked into his credit pouch. A measly ten credits stared accusingly back, all he had left after refueling and resupplying. Probably not enough to buy anything more than a cheap plastiform figurine. Din trudged away from the stalls, dejected. He couldn’t even buy his kid a toy for his birthday. Sure, feeding themselves and staying on the move was more important, but if he’d haggled better, maybe he could afford an actual treat.
A coo interrupted his guilty thoughts and he looked back. The pod was open now, the kid staring expectantly at him. As soon as Din looked at him, the kid raised his arms. Din immediately picked him up, and the kid snuggled up close to his neck.
Din hugged him close, and happened to catch sight of a food stall.
Maybe two cheap roasted frogs on sticks, dripping with greasy sauce, wasn’t much of a birthday treat. But the kid giggled with delight as he scarfed his down, and Din smiled as he stuck his portion under his helmet to eat together with the kid for once. He got through half before the kid tugged on the stick, big brown eyes pleading.
“Oh all right,” Din said, handing over the rest of his portion. “Happy birthday, kid.”
