bucktommy sickfic(let)
Tommy squints at his phone, rereading the message carefully, checking closely for tone and spelling. The last thing he wants is to worry Evan. Satisfied, he hits send, and flops down into his bed, immediately regretting the even slightly vigorous motion when it sets off a round of coughing that makes his head throb.
****
It's been a full-on shift. Not bad, but busy, so Buck only sees Tommy's text when he's in the parking lot, ready to leave and head over for date night. It takes him a minute to parse it, because Tommy is normally a very clear texter with impeccable grammar (old man, Buck thinks fondly).
Hi baaby i sosorry can't tonight I ill just a cOld not to baD. Little demon baby snézed in my FACE. Wont die!! Make you up s00n. Like you!
Buck can't help laughing, and then immediately feels bad about it. His first text is to Eddie to ask for Abuela's home cold remedy - a vile tasting but highly effective concoction that still haunts Buck. Then to Hen to double check he's not missing anything obvious from his pharmacy shopping list.
When he pulls into the parking lot outside CVS he dialls Mrs Lee.
"Hey Mrs Lee, it's Evan Buckley - no, no, everything's fine! I was wondering if you could help me out. You know that spicy soup you make, god, please forgive my pronunciation, is it dakgaejang? Could I get the recipe? Yeah, uh-huh, my boyfriend's not well and I can't think of a better cure. Oh, you're an angel, yep, let me grab a pen."
Ten minutes later, he has a recipe, and instructions on the best places to pick up the ingredients. It'll add a bit of time to his journey, but it'll be worth it if he can come up with anything close to the soup she makes. Tommy likes spice anyway, and Buck's always relied on spicy instant noodles to blow the lid off a cold.
When he makes it to Tommy's via Mrs Lee's favorite store on the outskirts of Koreatown, the sound of snoring from the master bedroom is practically shaking the walls, reminding Buck of a plane roaring by only feet above his head. Regardless he bypasses the door, opting to take the pillows and blankets from the guest room instead, setting them up on the couch before he heads into the kitchen to get started on the broth.
****
When Tommy wakes up an indeterminate amount of time later, he feels, if anything, slightly worse. His head is pounding, his ears are ringing, every inch of him aches, and his mouth and throat are the kind of dry and prickly he only usually associates with wildfire season. He's also...maybe experiencing multi-sensory hallucinations because he'd swear he can hear - very faintly through the horrible underwater feeling in his ears - music, and even more faintly smell something like food.
If it really is the world's most considerate burglar, Tommy knows he's in no fit state to fight them off, but he should at least try, right? He fights his way out of the cocoon that his sheets have become, and gets to his feet, only wobbling a little. Before he's even reached his bedroom door, he hears a familiar cacophony of footsteps on the stairs, and when he opens the door it's to see Evan on the other side.
"You're...here?"
"I sure am."
"Did you not get my message?"
"Oh, I did," Evan says, with an inexplicable smirk. "How are you feeling, babe?"
Tommy groans. "I'll never take clear sinuses for granted again."
"Aw, sweetheart. C'mere."
Tommy shakes his head, turning his face away as Evan approaches. "Plague."
Evan's insistent, pulling Tommy into a careful hug that honestly feels amazing. "What's a little plague between boyfriends?"
Tommy lets his head rest on Evan's broad shoulder for the few seconds of relief he gets before his blocked nose makes the position untenable.
"Can't breathe," he gasps out, and Evan rubs his back. It would be soothing, except, "skin hurts," he says, and Evan backs off.
"Okay, hon. C'mere, do you want to come downstairs? I made you a plague nest."
Tommy blinks stupidly, lets himself be steered down the stairs, Evan's hands hovering to steady him the whole way. He's guided towards the couch, which is replete with pillows and blankets. The coffee table has been dragged closer and is home to a box of those tissues infused with balm that are meant to prevent that horrible rubbed-raw feeling, cough sweets in what looks like every available flavour, one medicated and one menthol nose spray, three bars of his favourite chocolate, a carton of orange juice, and a bottle of water with a straw.
"Evan," he manages, and his voice wobbles alarmingly.
Evan's fingers stroke through his disgusting, sweaty hair without even a flinch. What a perfect man. "Don't cry, honey, it'll make your head worse."
Tommy nods and lets himself lean into Evan's touch.
****
Buck gets Tommy settled on the couch, covers him with blankets and squats down next to him.
"Have you eaten anything today?"
Tommy shakes his head, looking revolted by the very idea.
"I know. But it'll make you feel better. It needs another twenty minutes or so, so try to take a nap, okay? I'll be right back. You want the TV on?"
"Nuh," Tommy manages, his eyes already closing.
Buck pushes himself back to his feet and heads into the kitchen. The soup smells pretty damn good, and has that vibrant orange-red colour that promises a punch of heat. Abuela's cold remedy is adding a weird dimension to the smells, so he keeps the door closed in case it bothers Tommy. He also turns the radio off, and finishes up in silence, responding to a few check in texts from the 118 and sending Mrs Lee a photograph of his efforts for her approval.
He gets a cup of the cold remedy, a small bowl of soup, a spoon and a fork, and a range of medications onto a tray and makes his way back out. Tommy is snoring again and Buck nudges stuff around on the coffee table to make room for the tray before waking him with a gentle touch to his cheek.
"Hey, beautiful. Can you sit up for me? I want you to take some pills and eat some soup."
Tommy looks pitiful, his hair sticking up in all directions, his pretty eyes red-rimmed and puffy, his skin clammy.
"'kay," he mutters, and lets Buck brace him as they get him upright in the corner of the couch. Buck rearranges the cushions and pillows around him, tucks a blanket in around his shoulders.
"Okay. First up," he says, handing Tommy the cup of Abuela's home remedy. "This is via Eddie's abuela. There's a lot of ginger and also a little tequila and it's hot, so it'll taste, uh - interesting. But I promise it'll help."
Tommy knocks it back without even a wince and Buck squeezes his shoulder.
"Good job."
He hands Tommy the pills - decongestant, painkiller, anti-inflammatory - and Tommy takes them dutifully.
"Whatsit?" he asks, nodding towards the bowl of soup.
"Dakgaejang. Spicy chicken noodle soup. I got the recipe from Mrs Lee."
"Evan."
"Yeah?"
"You're too good to me." He sounds desolate and Buck feels, not for the first time, like he wants to go back in time and fight Tommy's dad, his CO, every terrible boyfriend he's ever had.
"No such thing, honey. Let me know if you want any help with the soup."
Buck sits next to Tommy on the couch and presses a kiss to his sweaty temple, not letting Tommy duck it.
"Evan. Stop it. I'm so gross."
"Nah," Buck promises. "You're the handsomest plague victim I've ever seen."

Imagine you live in ninjago city and you work for this company that cleans the windows of tall buildings. You work on the clerical side because living in ninjago city is already enough thrill for you. You’re going about your normal work and you have interviews to run for potential new window washers. You have your usual share of metalonian immigrants who don’t seem to care about the weekly world ending catastrophes. There’s the young ones who are after their first job. You even have some old timers who got hurt in the latest disaster and are looking for a job with a slower pace.
The last interview before your lunch and man are you ready for it. You bring in the person and they have this. Super light hair with radioactive green eyes. Not exactly your typical look but hey, it's Ninjago. He's old enough to have worked before but he hasn't got a single previous job on his CV. He doesn't have any secondary level education either but that's not unusual for kids from the country. What is odd is the school he went to as primary education. There's no name and just an address with a note saying the place is closed down and all the records were burned for...reasons.
Not super reassuring but then you look at his references and this must be a joke. His first one is Cyrus Borg?
"Cyrus Borg?" You question incredulously. The kid just nods, pulling out his phone and calling the man himself. It's a shining review, though you couldn't parse out what job he did for the tech legend himself. It's honestly a little intimidating, normally for something simple like this the reference is their dad or uncle. The usual helping out in their shop or fields or something, not this.
"Tell me..." You look at the name on the top of the CV "Lloyd. Why do you want to work here?". Admittedly you should be looking over these beforehand but this isn't some million yen company.
"I just want to do something low stakes, where I don't have to worry about being responsible for anyone". Not the weirdest reason. One time a shintaran claimed they missed the thin air in Ninjago and high buildings would help.
"And you're aware of the risks of this job? The equipment is serviced regularly but there is always the small odds of an accident"
"I'm pretty good in high pressure situations, and highly trained in parkour, I'll be fine" he says as if it's as normal as having teeth. Now you're really starting to get weirded out.
"Right...and is there anything you'd like to ask me?" You close out. That bento your partner made for you already starting to call to you. Nearly there.
"Um...yeah, does the uniform only come in green?". For some reason that's what sparks realisation in you. The pointed ears, light blond hair, green eyes the colour of life itself. You read the name again.
"Lloyd Montgomery..." Garmadon. You're interviewing the green ninja and you didn't realize?!
"Yes?". You look up, realising you read that our loud. It would be rude to mention it now.
"Well, thank you for coming in today. It's been an honour-eh pleasure to meet you". You stand as you speak, readying for the end of interview handshake. Lloyd however, bows to you. Upon seeing your outstretched hand he shakes it with a powerful grip completely unbefitting of the embarrassed smile he has on his face.
"Thank you, for your consideration"

hello! really love this au!!! i was wondering if u have any documentation on how the CVs’ mechanics and such work? like schematics or something? i also wonder if there is any artwork of what it looks like when they’re charging or shut down or related robotic tendencies. it really fascinates me and i love to see if there’s any lore u had in mind for that!
hello, thank you for checking out my work ;v; oh gosh...tbh, I kiiiinda did have some notes about the Cryptons' schematics once upon a time but they're more than likely outdated X'D
I have a general idea of their mechanics and stuff, but I never wrote it down since I'm really bad parsing out science-y stuff and I get really indecisive...and it already took me 10 thousand years to finally nail down the superpower lore X'D so. (this is not making me look like a good worldbuilder or storyteller in the absolute slightest)
To answer some of your other questions, though: in regards to how they look when off or charging, when charging they usually just look like they're asleep! Which they kind of are, mostly. It's easier and quicker to charge when they're in sleep mode. When they're shut down, however, especially when it's unexpected, it's kinda like this:
Tumblr media
Their eyes and all of their accessories (headphones, sleeves, etc) go dim, and of course, they no longer move. (It's kinda bizarre seeing them like that when you aren't used to it.)
I'd mentioned it on this blog before, but I guess for a little tidbit about their mechanics: the large button on their headphones acts as an ON/OFF button, and their sleeves/the panels in their arms act as control panels, status displays, and contain some other functions like holographic video call. Both areas also have jacks where they can plug into other devices.
Lastly, I did have this old doodle of Meiko with Miku when she was still unfinished:
Tumblr media
And since I'm on a little break, take a new doodle of the twins in the maintenance room.

Conversations with Myself
UCL vs Darwin, Cambridge
I thought I had it sorted.
I was going to have all of my intros for the quarter-finals written ahead of time by using the reviews of old quarter-finals from the past eight years.
Paxman used to describe the format of this stage in very silly over-the-top ways and I was going to go through my old reviews and reference his melodramatic metaphors (Kafka-esque, Byzantine complexity etc…).
However, in my reviews from the 2018/19 series, I didn’t write anything about Paxman’s comments, which scuppers my plan somewhat.
There weren’t any from the 2017/18 series either, but last week I managed to bodge something together from my old intros. I’m going to have to do the same thing this week, and hope that there is more Paxman content to mine from the 2019/20 series for next week.
This intro, below, is from Episodes 33&34 (a double feature) of the 2018/19 series and is yet more evidence that I’ve been posting the exact same content the entire time.
I was going to start this by saying it had been a while since I’d last had to do a multi-episode post, but I just scrolled back and it was apparently only a few months ago, so I guess I can’t. I was also going to open with a bit about how, if I wanted to use this blog as an example of my writing prowess to any prospective employers, it would be like putting down as a reference your boss from that bar job where you’d fallen asleep midway through pouring a pint and caused a mini lager-flood.
Pretty sure I did have a link to this blog on my CV when I was applying for jobs. Maybe I even discussed it at the interview for the job I did get.
Sign up for The University Challenge Review
But I said that last time as well, so in addition to showing up my inconsistent posting schedule I’d also be outing myself as an uninspired self-plagiarist.
I love talking about how I’m plagiarising myself.
It is obvious, both intuitively and from the brief period when I actually did manage to upload a few hours after episodes were dropping, that the only way to grow my engagement and readership is to get my blogs online in that short window immediately after the show when people are in that sweet, sweet UC headspace.
This might have worked in the olden days, but if I post a link on X these days then my post gets nerfed, so what can a blogger do?
Thats how the internet works, you move too slow and you get left behind. So why is it that I’ve allowed myself to postpone my self-imposed deadline by a week, so that I write the previous week’s blog just before the current one should be due?
Still, it would probably be better to post the link on the day of the episode, which I haven’t done for a while. Maybe I’ll try that with this post (I didn’t)
Why is it easier to distract myself from the same focus-scattering effects of Twitter and YouTube that I should be trying to counteract by getting the work done right away after a seven-day interval has passed?
Not sure what I’m trying to say here, a typically difficult-to-parse UC Review sentence, but six years later and I still lose lots of time to Twitter and YouTube.
I can’t answer those questions, but I’m trying to get the point where I can by sleeping with my phone in the other room and reading my 12 issues for £12 Economist when I wake up instead (all the podcasts were right, its like a collection of really long tweets, but without the hashtag wars).
When we moved to Scotland, I read four weeks of the Economist back to back on Press Reader and never felt like I remembered anything. It was almost as much of an addiction as Twitter, albeit one which was far easier to kick, I haven’t read a single article since.
One advantage of the fact that no one reads these anymore is that I feel less obligation to not go off on solipsistic tangents before I’ve even started (not that the obligation ever stopped me before).
/media/25033f0345d4717628937d4ef0045e65
You’re never going to stop me from going on solipsistic tangents, here’s your first starter for ten.
Darwin’s Whitaker has nineteen starters to his name from their opening two matches, but he negs the first question to put his team on minus five. UCL can’t capitalise and his teammate Willis kicks things off with Koch on the following starter. They take two bonuses on calculating devices, which add another ten points to their score.
Tumblr media
Another for Mandel, and a hat-trick on the picture bonuses, ties the game at 35-each. Whitaker’s second of the night puts Darwin back in front, and a bonus set on film (he is doing a PhD in film) sees them take a hat-trick of their own. He takes a third, then Stewart gets in on the act with fourth floor and Darwin are flying.
No one identifies Miles Davis on the music starter, and indeed neither team even guesses a trumpet player, tricked perhaps by the fact he is playing with a mute.
UCL trail by more than a hundred points and will really need to get going if they are going to stage a comeback, but Whitaker won’t let them build any momentum, buzzing in with yet another brilliant answer of Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o.
Willis takes her second starter by correctly adding the number of cranial nerves to the number of pairs of ribs (in humans), twelve plus twelve.
The second picture round is on film which plays right into Whitaker’s hands, and he duly takes the starter with Orson Welles and Rita Hayworth.
Tumblr media
UCL 120–225 Darwin
A huge win for Darwin, who I thought might struggle with their over-reliance on Whitaker, he having taken 19 of their 20 starters over the first two rounds. He remained very impressive, but his teammates chipped in with three starters this time which were very useful.
If they can perform like that again they’ll be very tough to beat.
UCL will have to dust themselves off and go again — comprehensively outbuzzed in the middle portion of the match.
If you want more UC content, I’ll have another Patreon review from the 2012/13 series out later this week.
Subscribe so you don’t miss an episode.

Pitch N Hire's Guide to Crafting an ATS-Friendly Resume for Better Hiring Outcomes
Tumblr media
What is an ATS? An Application Tracking System (ATS), alternatively known as a talent management system, is the software utilized by recruiters and employers for picking up, organizing and sorting out resumes according to particular guidelines. The main aim of an ATS is to simplify the process of hiring by eliminating irrelevant applicants and highlighting those whose qualifications correspond well with the job description. While saving time for HR departments, this also means that candidates must format their CVs properly. 3 Main Tips for an ATS-Friendly Resume:
No Header or Footer: Most ATS can't handle parsing information that goes into either of these two sections. Vital details, such as contact information, name, and title, need to be within the main body of the document. Keeping everything in a simple, easy-to-read format will help the ATS capture all your information correctly.
Keep it Simple: Elements for an ATS-friendly resume are quite minimalistic. Ensure common fonts such as Arial and Times New Roman are in use. Further, shun graphics, tables, or complex formatting in your resume. Traditional resume sections are critical: stick to sections like "Education," "Experience," and "Skills," making sure these are clearly labelled.
Use Keywords: Keywords are a very important feature in an ATS resume. Every content prepared on your resume will be scanned by an ATS to pick out relevant keywords about the description of the jobs. It makes it easy to beat the scanner by the use of relevant keywords that tally with the job posting. Be cautious not to stuff the resume with keywords; they must fit naturally into your content. How can Pitch N Hire help you? Pitch N Hire offers tailored services for job seekers and recruiters. For job seekers, Pitch N Hire offers automation tools that help you create an ATS-friendly resume, ensuring that potential employees wear it noticeably. Their platform also offers a range of job search tools, career counselling and personal career recommendations. For recruiters, Pitch N Hire offers advanced ATS tools that efficiently edit and organize resumes and simplify the hiring process. Their services include candidate management, interview processing and data-driven insights, all geared towards speeding up and improving the recruitment process.

“I don’t forget the ladies I meet no matter who they are.”[1]
Tumblr media
A woman-loving gentleman shrouded in mystery[2]
A gallant floor manager at Lounge Wisdom who loves all women.[3]
He’s a two-faced man who’s easygoing and friendly yet toys with the people around him. It’s hard to tell whether he’s telling the truth or not when he speaks.[4]
He likes sweets.

Height: 182cm
Weight: 75kg
Birthday: November 12th
Age: 30
Zodiac Sign: Scorpio
Hobbies: Dating, flirting, attending mixers
Skills: Sewing, lying
Rider Finisher: Mystical Vapor
Voice Lines
“I don’t forget the ladies I meet no matter who they are.”
“I won’t tell you anything even if you look at me like that. More importantly, I want you to tell me about yourself.”
“You can’t tell what I’m thinking about? Haha, I often get those comments.”
TL Notes:
The original line is more about not forgetting the “memories he has with ladies”. I preferred wording it like he’s not forgetting “the ladies [he] meet[s]” because that sounded better in English.
真実を煙に巻き means that Jo bewilders and confuses the people around him, and the original wording literally gives the image of covering something in smoke to hide it— in this case, the truth. I opted for a wording that would evoke this “covering up the truth” idea by focusing on himself being mysterious rather than a nebulous “truth”.
Here, I’ve translated the second 紳士 to the adjective “gallant” so I could combine both sentences.
Okay so, Japanese loves run-on sentences and cramming as much details as possible into a specific thing, and it was impossible to translate this in a single sentence because English just doesn’t work like that. Just know that the part about how he speaks (嘘か本当か分からない発言) is likely related to how he toys with people— in Japanese, the particle で that’s used in this part can be understood as the means of an action, so it’s with his remarks that he toys with people. It could also just be the conjuction “and”, or it could mean “because of”. So… yeah, I had to separate this part to avoid awkward wording and make this less of a headache to parse, but know that it’s ultimately related to how two-faced he is.

Sooo... some of you might not be aware, but Mine Laru received a new voicebank like a week or two ago ( a whooping 8 pitches, jesus, not even a lot of native voicebanks are that big ), and I have a lot of ( mostly positive ) thoughts on it, along with the new ARPAsing reclist made with it. I wanted to compare it with an older Mine Laru bank in my possession, thus the audio clip above. You can find the new bank here:
youtube
Now, some of you might know of the new AgO voicebank, but not know of the 2020 voicebank. Let me explain that one. There’s a bit of a story here.
A couple of years ago, Minato ( Mine Laru’s VP ) set up a website called the “Mine Laru Lab”, and it was to help test out and give feedback for a lot of new voicebanks that were made for various languages that weren’t Japanese. Among them, was a dipitch English ARPAsing voicebank based on the 0.2.0 list.
I offered to configure it in a Twitter comment, and Minato seemed to welcome my help, so I did that as soon as the site went up. After I finished, I DM’d Minato, letting him know I’d finished, and that I had suggestions. I never received a response, and in retrospect, I’m thinking he probably didn’t have his DMs open and I simply never realized. I never followed up though, because I didn’t want to bother him.
Sometime around then, the Mine Laru Lab was shut down, and access to the various voicebanks was seemingly discontinued.
I could be wrong about this, but I think this might be the voicebank that was once called “Mine Laru PRIMITIVE”. I don’t know that for certain, so that’s merely a guess.
So… I’ve basically just had this obscure completed English voicebank sitting around on my computer for the past couple of years. I’m not going to distribute it or anything, unless I get explicit permission to do so. I figure showing it off is probably okay based on what I remember of the Lab TOS, but I will delete this post if Minato asks me to, on the off chance that happens.
Anyways, the AgO voicebank came out recently, and it sounds pretty different from this older bank, so I wanted to make a more direct comparison. The 2020 voicebank is a lot more similar to Mine Laru’s more powerful voicebanks, such as his 14-scales or his “query” voicebank. The AgO voicebank sounds more like his “parse” voicebank, with a more neutral tone becoming softer in higher ranges.
I also want to talk about the reclist, because in my opinion… the AgO reclist is kind of a stroke of genius. It’s such a simple idea that I’m embarrassed I didn’t think of it first. An easy word-based list based mostly on singular words, most of which being easy to pronounce for non-native English speakers. That’s just… sort of brilliant.
And this might be controversial to say, but… it’s leagues better than the 0.2.0 list. The AgO list has just about every CV, VC, and VV diphone you could need for English. There are some exceptions, it’s not 100% complete, and it is missing a lot of CC diphones, but it’s so much more useable than 0.2.0. Reading the blog post on the process of making the list is extremely fascinating too.
I also made an experimental dictionary for AgO to hopefully rectify some of the diphones that are missing. Again, mostly CCs. This dictionary isn’t anywhere near as chaotic as my 0.2.0 dictionary thankfully. Though, there are still some rather obtuse transcriptions I had to use to get around the list’s limitations.
As for the voicebank itself - Mine Laru has always had good English. Even his old “multilingual normal and weak” voicebanks were really good. Mine Laru in English is the kind of voice where he has a notable accent, but in a good way, like how Megurine Luka and Tsurumaki Maki do, where the accent adds charm and personality to the voice instead of making it more difficult to use. The AgO voicebank is no different.
In contrast to the 2020 bank in particular though, having gone through a lot of those old samples, it’s clear that the VP struggled with the 0.2.0 list. Most people do after all, even native speakers. For all its simplicity and compactness, I cannot tell you how many times I’ve gotten a commission to configure a 0.2.0 voicebank, and the voice provider audibly has trouble in the samples - and to be clear, that’s not the voice provider's fault, 0.2.0 is just a bad list ( I’m looking at you “yamk”; that’s not even a word ).
In the AgO voicebank however, the pronunciation is so good. Like, his pronunciation is good to begin with, but with the AgO voicebank, his pronunciation sounds a lot more relaxed and comfortable. And even better, the AgO voicebank actually distinguishes between aspirated and unaspirated plosives via alternates. By default, most plosives are unaspirated, but if you cycle through its first alternate ( by typing "1" at the end of the diphone ), you get an aspirated consonant. This is the kind of weirdly specific English voicebank construction that makes me absolutely giddy. Clearly a lot of thought and care was put into this voicebank.
My only real criticism is… the oto.ini. It’s got some problems that can lead to the voicebank being rather choppy. A lot of start-phrase consonants and CC diphones have problems too.
I kinda… want to stick the voicebank in vLabeler and try to refine the oto.ini some. I might do that.
Anyways, I just wanted to dump my thoughts, in case anyone wanted to listen.

NoBsResume’s ATS-Compatible CV Formats to Pass Every Applicant Tracking System
In today’s digital job market, Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) have become an essential part of the recruitment process. These systems help employers manage large volumes of applications by scanning resumes for specific keywords and formatting. As a result, creating a resume that’s ATS-compatible is critical for job seekers aiming to ensure their application reaches human eyes. Fortunately, NoBsResume offers ATS-friendly CV formats that help candidates build resumes designed to pass these systems with ease. By focusing on simplicity, structure, and relevance, NoBsResume makes sure your resume stands out to both automated systems and hiring managers.
Understanding ATS and Its Role in Recruitment
An Applicant Simple online resume maker is software that many companies use to streamline the hiring process. It allows them to automatically scan, filter, and rank resumes based on predetermined criteria, such as keywords, skills, and experience. ATS is especially prevalent in large companies that receive hundreds or even thousands of resumes for a single job posting. While these systems help employers quickly narrow down candidates, they can be a challenge for job seekers who don’t know how to format their resumes to meet ATS requirements. If your resume isn’t formatted properly, even the most impressive qualifications may not make it through the ATS screening process.
Tumblr media
Why ATS-Compatible Resumes Matter
When applying for jobs, especially with large organizations, your resume is likely to be scanned by an ATS before a hiring manager ever sees it. If your resume isn’t compatible with ATS, it might get rejected even if it’s well-suited for the role. An ATS-compatible resume ensures that your qualifications, skills, and experience are accurately interpreted by the system. NoBsResume’s ATS-friendly templates are designed with this in mind, allowing job seekers to create resumes that meet ATS standards without sacrificing visual appeal or readability.
How NoBsResume Optimizes Resumes for ATS Compatibility
NoBsResume’s templates are built specifically to be ATS-compatible, ensuring your resume is formatted in a way that automated systems can easily parse. The platform offers a selection of simple, structured templates that avoid unnecessary graphics, complex layouts, or other design elements that might confuse ATS software. Each template uses clear section headings, simple bullet points, and standard fonts—making it easier for ATS systems to identify key information such as job titles, dates of employment, and skills. This attention to simplicity and structure maximizes the chances of your resume making it past the first round of automated screening.
Keyword Optimization for Better ATS Performance
ATS systems are programmed to look for keywords that match the job description. These keywords may include specific skills, qualifications, and industry terms that are relevant to the position. A resume that lacks these keywords might be overlooked by the ATS, even if the candidate is highly qualified. NoBsResume helps users optimize their resumes by encouraging the inclusion of relevant keywords throughout their work experience and skills sections. The platform also allows job seekers to tailor their resumes to specific job listings by suggesting common keywords for various industries. By focusing on keyword optimization, NoBsResume ensures that your resume is more likely to pass through ATS filters and reach the hands of hiring managers.
The Importance of Clean and Simple Formatting
One of the primary reasons many resumes fail to pass through an ATS is due to complicated formatting. Some resume formats use graphics, columns, or tables that can confuse the software and result in key information being misread or missed altogether. NoBsResume eliminates these formatting issues by providing simple, clean templates that avoid such complexities. The formatting is structured in a way that makes it easy for the ATS to scan and interpret. This simplicity ensures that your resume is parsed correctly, and that all the relevant details, such as your work history, skills, and contact information, are easily accessible for both the ATS and human recruiters.
The Role of Section Headings in ATS Parsing
ATS systems rely heavily on section headings to identify and organize different types of information within a resume. For example, an ATS will look for headings such as "Work Experience," "Education," and "Skills" to categorize your information appropriately. NoBsResume’s templates include standardized, ATS-friendly section headings that ensure the system can quickly identify and process each part of your resume. This structured approach not only makes your resume more likely to pass through ATS but also improves its overall readability and flow, making it easier for human recruiters to review.
Tumblr media
The Advantages of ATS-Compatible Templates for Job Seekers
For job seekers, the biggest advantage of using NoBsResume’s ATS-compatible templates is the peace of mind that comes with knowing your resume is optimized for automated screening. By using a platform that understands the requirements of ATS systems, you can avoid the frustration of creating a resume that may be rejected by software. The simplicity and structured approach of NoBsResume’s templates help job seekers focus on showcasing their skills and experience without worrying about formatting errors or technical issues. Moreover, NoBsResume offers these templates for free, ensuring that all job seekers, regardless of their budget, have access to professional-grade, ATS-compatible resumes.
Conclusion
Creating a resume that passes through an ATS is essential for job seekers in today’s competitive job market. NoBsResume provides an easy-to-use platform with ATS-compatible CV formats that ensure your resume will be properly parsed by applicant tracking systems. By focusing on simplicity, structure, and keyword optimization, NoBsResume helps you build a resume that not only gets through the ATS but also presents you as a strong candidate to hiring managers. Whether you're an experienced professional or just starting your career, NoBsResume offers the tools you need to create a resume that stands out in both the digital and human review stages of the hiring process.

Boost Your Small Business Hiring Efficiency with an Applicant Tracking System
Efficient hiring is crucial for small businesses looking to grow and compete in a fast-paced job market. However, small teams often face challenges due to limited resources and time constraints. An applicant tracking system for small businesses can help improve hiring efficiency by automating tasks, organizing candidate information, and enhancing the recruitment process. In this article, we’ll explore how small businesses can leverage an ATS to streamline hiring and take advantage of AI for CV screening to make more informed hiring decisions.
Why Hiring Efficiency Matters for Small Businesses
For small businesses, each hire has a significant impact. A slow or inefficient hiring process can lead to missed opportunities, unfilled roles, and lower productivity. An applicant tracking system for small businesses enables smaller teams to recruit effectively, saving time and improving the overall quality of hires. By increasing hiring efficiency, small businesses can focus on growth without getting bogged down by the complexities of recruitment.
How an Applicant Tracking System Enhances Hiring Efficiency
An ATS improves efficiency by automating many manual recruitment tasks. For example, it can parse resumes, filter candidates based on job requirements, and send automated communication to applicants. This automation reduces the time required to complete routine tasks, allowing HR teams to focus on strategic aspects of hiring, such as candidate engagement and decision-making.
Key Benefits of Using an Applicant Tracking System for Small Businesses
Here’s how an ATS can directly benefit small businesses looking to streamline their hiring:
Faster Hiring Cycles: Automated resume filtering and candidate tracking speed up the recruitment process.
Reduced Administrative Work: An ATS consolidates all candidate information in one place, reducing paperwork and data entry.
Enhanced Decision-Making: By organizing candidates based on skills and experience, small businesses can make better, data-driven hiring decisions.
Leveraging AI for CV Screening to Find Top Candidates Faster
One of the most valuable features of modern applicant tracking systems is AI for CV screening. This feature allows the ATS to evaluate resumes based on predefined criteria, such as required skills, years of experience, and qualifications. By using AI, small businesses can quickly identify the best candidates without sifting through hundreds of applications manually, thus significantly improving hiring efficiency. Streamline hiring with an applicant tracking system for small businesses and explore AI for CV screening at https://quickscreen.ai.
Choosing the Right Applicant Tracking System for Maximum Efficiency
Not all ATS platforms are the same, so small businesses need to choose a solution that fits their needs and budget. Here are a few tips to consider:
Focus on User-Friendliness: A simple, intuitive interface ensures that team members can use the ATS effectively without extensive training.
Seek Customization Options: Custom workflows, candidate tagging, and templates allow small businesses to tailor the ATS to their specific hiring process.
Look for AI Capabilities: Selecting an ATS with AI for CV screening can significantly cut down screening time.
Essential Features for an Efficient Applicant Tracking System
To boost hiring efficiency, an applicant tracking system for small businesses should include:
Automated Resume Parsing: This feature automatically organizes and filters resumes, allowing recruiters to focus on qualified candidates.
Interview Scheduling Tools: Streamlined scheduling features reduce time spent coordinating interviews.
Data and Analytics: Real-time insights into recruitment metrics help small businesses monitor performance and optimize the process.
Implementing an ATS to Improve Hiring Efficiency
Once an ATS is selected, small businesses should focus on successful implementation to maximize benefits. Follow these steps to ensure a smooth transition:
Train Key Staff Members: Provide training to ensure the team understands how to use the ATS effectively.
Customize Workflows: Adjust settings and workflows within the ATS to align with your business’s hiring needs.
Set Measurable Goals: Track metrics such as time-to-hire and candidate quality to assess the ATS’s impact on efficiency.
How an ATS Enhances Candidate Experience
A positive candidate experience can set a small business apart in the job market. An ATS helps small businesses provide timely updates and clear communication to applicants, leading to a better candidate experience. Additionally, AI for CV screening ensures that applicants who meet qualifications are quickly identified and contacted, which improves engagement and reduces the chance of losing top talent to competitors.
In today’s competitive hiring environment, an applicant tracking system for small businesses can be a game-changer. By automating tasks, streamlining candidate management, and incorporating AI for CV screening, an ATS helps small businesses improve hiring efficiency and attract top talent faster. With the right ATS in place, small businesses can simplify recruitment, enhance decision-making, and ultimately build a stronger team for future growth.
