i love you media that emphasized mundanity. i love you media that says you still matter as a person even if you don't achieve something great. i love you media that says existing and being alive is enough. i love you "we might not remember your poems, but we'd remember you." i love you "i was no hero" "perhaps. but you are a brave man." i love "in another life i would have really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you." i love you "but who's gonna watch the deer?" i love you the mundane as something to be loved for

When Brennan Lee Mulligan said "It is a cynical and small soul that believes that worship diminishes the soul of the worshipper. All of the people who have had their hearts enlarged and their lives enriched through the act of their devotion. It does not diminish a soul to give worship or adoration" I felt that in my soul. not in a religious sense but as someone who spent most of their life as a fan of something, or someone, and constantly told that it's a waste of time or energy or childish or up for no good. Your time and adoration and what you create and give isn't wasted. Your love is never wasted

the first iteration of the dream team is so funny.
imagine youre a regular new yorker and you’re being attacked by santas or bugs or devils at an art show and things are weird but you also can’t quite tell what’s actually happening (got to love umbral arcana) ? but you’re scared out of your mind until a drunk lady punches the scary monster in the face and the guy who’s clearly a drug dealer starts blasting fire out of his hands?? maybe he’s got a lighter and some hairspray, though he’s also holding a gun? and then a very nice and serious older guy is keeping everything calm and encouraging his friends and you think everything is going to be okay, especially because this nice sweet firefighter is making sure everyone’s safe. and you think he looks like mr march from the calendar!
then a massive rat man summons some crocodiles or a pack of rats or a cockroach that is unusually juicy and then broadway legend misty moore literally insults a monster to death whilst indiscriminately flirting with her friends.
and when it’s all over they’re acting like this is business as usual. and maybe you’re confused for like three minutes until you remember this is new york — who else would save you but a broadway star, a rat, a firefighter, a drug dealer, an alcoholic and kingston brown from uptown who helped you jumpstart your car three months ago

murph characters are great because he will make a little guy who is objectively hilarious as a concept and the he and brennan will take that little guy and emotionally destroy you.

many people have talked about what mediums they would want to see dimension 20 made in, so here's my dream lineup for all the intrepid heroes seasons:
fantasy high – live action w/ extensive practical effects when possible
the unsleeping city – animated a la spiderverse and/or arcane
a crown of candy – stop motion claymation
a starstruck odyssey – also animated but entirely 2d
neverafter – also live action with extensive practical effects when possible
i love these seasons as they are, but when i imagine them as scripted tv shows, this is how i see them

I just realized that Zac has the most PC deaths in d20. Three of his characters have died: Gorgug, Lapin, and PIB. Truly the worst luck of all time for a player.

Dropout's statement from the discord about ticket pricing, for those that may not have seen it:
"Hey everyone! A statement from us here at Dropout and Dimension 20 about the ticket situation with Madison Square Garden - apologies it took a bit of time to get this all sorted, not the easiest stuff to coordinate when the whole cast is mid-travel and everyone at Dropout was prepping for our hiatus (which started yesterday):
The last time Dimension 20 had a live show was in 2019 - nearly 5 years ago - in the Bell House theater in Brooklyn, New York. It seated around 200 people, and we had to work to fill it. We expected our live show at Madison Square Garden to go roughly the same, just on a bigger scale - given we were punching so high above our weight class, we would have to work pretty hard to fill the Garden. After all, it was Madison Square Garden. We had misjudged the situation, to say the least.
Even though the UK live show tour tickets had sold quickly, it was nothing compared to what we saw with the situation over the Gauntlet at the Garden tickets. Dynamic Pricing / Platinum Tickets had not been something explained to us, nor something presented as something we had the ability to opt out of - once we had a better understanding of the situation as a group, we communicated to Live Nation that it was Dropout and the cast’s desire to opt out of all dynamic pricing tickets for this event and for all events going forward.
Thankfully, the average cost of all tickets sold so far (over 15,000 now!) is $119, meaning the vast majority of fans attending got tickets at a much more reasonable price, and dynamic pricing nonsense only kicked in for the few remaining seats. Even still, plenty of fans who wanted to attend got priced out quickly, and so we’re aiming to address that here and in the future in a few different ways:
1. Stop the dynamic pricing options for this show and all future shows.
2. Introducing Dimensioneer Tickets - a lottery system where selected individuals will have the opportunity to buy up to two tickets for $35/each (for seats placed all over the event space, including the best seats in the house). Apparently it’s something Olivia Rodrigo does! Thanks for the idea, Olivia. Links for that will be distributed soon.
3. This was already announced, but a recording of the live show will be going up on Dropout at no additional cost for all Dropout subscribers. We want to make our live shows as accessible to fans as possible, but the truth is that if you can't get to New York, if you can't get the night off work, if you can't afford the flight or the hotel, then you still can't go regardless of ticket prices. The most significant thing to us is that the live shows end up where the show itself lives, and that all our fans all over the world get a chance to participate.
We are so deeply grateful to everyone who has supported Dropout and Dimension 20 over the years and made this event sell out so quickly. And now that we have a better sense of how all of this works, the next live show will go much smoother. That’s been the journey of Dropout and Dimension 20 - trying a bunch of stuff, figuring out what works, and doing it better the next time around. And ultimately, we’re so grateful to have a venue that can accommodate so many of you. We could never have dreamed five years ago of having thousands of you in one place.
In the meantime, everyone at Dropout is on a two week companywide hiatus, and the cast of Dimension 20 is kicking off their UK live show tour in just a few days. Fans of Dimension 20 will have a LOT to look forward to in the next year, so stay tuned."

there’s something so heartbreaking about the way that d20, especially fantasy high and the seven, talks about fatherhood. some of the lesser mentioned ones are just as heartbreaking as the characters who have it as their whole thing. like fig and fabian hit but
ostentatia and her dad and how he would give anything for her no matter how much it hurts him and her and how he refuses to let anyone do anything for him bc he’s the dad and the one who should be taking care of her.
katja and her dad and how he thought he was doing what was best for her by working all the time, thinking that was better than him being around when really all she wanted was to spend time with him.
riz and his dad and how he idolises him and works through that moment of doubting his father and gets that time with him and it’s so sweet despite how much it hurts them both because seeing him can only be temporary.
liam and his dad and being an afterthought to a father who has so much more to consider than a kid who wasn’t anything like what he thought he would be.
jet and ruby with amethar being a king who has even more to consider but never stopped loving and caring for them for a second and always wanted them to have the carefree and happy childhood he had as someone who never should have gotten the throne.
saccharina and amethar being a father who has so much regret piled on his shoulders but can’t do anything to heal the pain he brought to his daughter except by trying to show how much he loves her and is proud of her.
adaine and a father who didn’t care and jawbone, a father who does, who recognises the rage and pain and anxiety in adaine and never for a second shames her for any of it.
kristen and a father who loves what he wants her to be and can’t accept what she is.
kugrash trying to redeem himself for gabriella but more for his sons and the joy he feels when wally forgives him and the sorrow he feels when he reads davids letters and confronts even further the pain he caused.
kingston and the absolute dream of having langston after years of denying himself in the name of the rest of new york only to understand that happiness for him doesn’t mean no happiness for everyone else.
fathers and all the pain they can bring and all the care they can have and all that they experience too.
