IENZOOOO MY FUCKED UP LITTLE GUY. Thinking abt him. Rotating him in my mind. SPECIFICALLY. Thinking. About whatever he and Axel have going on.

I JUST THINK. That if a guy I had grown up with in a shitty emotionless cult decided to murder my dad and then me seemingly on a whim in incredibly traumatic ways and then have the AUDACITY to be a rude little bitch to me when we came back from the dead while I was trying to extend an olive branch and answer his questions even though my last memory was of me getting strangled to death while he stared me dead in the eyes and I don’t yet have any answers as to what’s going on, I would simply slaughter him on the spot. but he DIDNT. He was calm & deferential & polite. Weirdly bubbly. And it’s WEIRD they’re WEIRD

I think that Ienzo is trying to play Nice and not step on any light warrior’s toes bc he doesn’t want to die a third time. And Lea is a light warrior now, which automatically means that he is Always Correct and deserves the utmost respect. Clearly he knew something that they didn’t and clearly his murder was justified bc all of them are standing here and alive and whole again and Lea is a light warrior with a key blade. And they need to be careful around him because he can do anything to them and he’d be Right and clearly everything Ienzo thought he knew about Axel-VIII-Lea is Wrong. Obviously. Because zexion thought Axel would never attack him and he was wrong about that. And. Sora mowed them down incredibly quickly, as did Riku. So. Play nice, keep your life. Right.

I think he thinks he and his family are at the mercy of the light warriors because why wouldn’t he. He grew up in a cult where the most powerful members were the ones in charge. Where the leader was the most powerful of all because he had a key blade that he used ON IENZO. When he was a KID. You stick around until you’re not useful anymore and then youre eliminated and no one cares because they can’t. He thinks that every relationship is built on exchanges.

He’s trying very very hard to be Good but he has NO IDEA what good even constitutes and he’s starting from the premise that there is something fundamentally Wrong and monstrous with him. And there are Reasons for that and they mostly have to do with the apprentices and specifically aeleus but if we were to talk about all the issues I think this kid has we would be here all year. SO.

Do not get me started on my Thoughts abt his relationships with Isa & Xemnas & braig & the other apprentices

I fucking love how many different dynamics there in the organization that are implied or fan created but aren’t actually canon.

Fandom: Demyx and Ienzo are best friends/boyfriends (I am fandom)

Canon: never interacted while both were in the organization, had one small interaction in KH3

Fandom: Xehabraig (I am still fandom)

Canon: a small interaction in bbs, Xehanort stabs Braig in DDD, mostly implied interactions, but it’s obvious that there would be a lot of deep interactions that just weren’t on screen

Fandom: Aeleus and Dilan are both Ienzo’s dads along with Even

Canon: Dilan does not interact with Ienzo, no Aeleus with child Ienzo, spends time in the basement with him, but doesn’t actually show parental affection, does apologize but it’s vague what he apologized about and it wasn’t even in front of Ienzo, little Aeleus interaction with Ienzo in KH3

Fandom: Kairi, Xion, and Naminè are besties

Canon: Kairi has never me Xion, Naminè and Kairi had only a few interactions mostly running away or Naminè going into Kairi’s heart, Xion and Naminè get some interactions but the closest thing to friend type stuff is finding shells at the end of KH3

October’s monthly linearts are here!

Howdy my sweet fruits!

As promised, once again, this update of the monthly linearts will feature not one, but two files to make up for the months I could not hold the pen after surgery

Once more, I took the liberty of exploring a bigger group of characters so this two files featuring the Radiant dads and Radiant kids from KHBBS & KH3 respectively

So I just went marshmallow toasting for the first time since pre-pandemic, and now I feel like writing KH marshmallow headcanons. Enjoy.

(Also, I'm writing these with the assumption Sora and Strelitzia return to the KH universe at some point)

Sora, Kairi and Riku are the ones hosting the bonfire. They used to go to bonfires with their parents as kids, so it's nice to reconnect with a (mostly) untroubled childhood after All The Bullshit(tm) of the past few years

Kairi's adopted mother makes homemade marshmallows, but there are gonna be a LOT of people, so she takes commercial ones. She does however have a small container of homemade ones that there is a very slim chance she'll share

Riku does most of the bonfire-building. It gives him a few flashbacks which in turn give him a lot to reflect on. This boy overthinks a lot and he needs a hug

Sora tries to start the bonfire with Fira. This is not a good idea

Terra and Aqua are subsequently on the "if this all goes horribly wrong, we can put out the fire" squad

Donald insists he is also part of that squad, but no one pays him any mind, and he performs no duties to the effect

Sora also sits way too close to the fire; his marshmallow isn't the only thing getting lightly toasted

Terra and Aqua end up wearing half their armour just so their clothes don't catch fire

Ventus has to toast with one hand and hold Chirithy in the other. Eventually, he just holds Chirithy in both hands and Chirithy toasts the marshmallows for both of them

Roxas and Xion literally have four years of life experience between them, they have NEVER toasted marshmallows before. Isa hasn't since he was a teenager in RG. Lea used to use his fire magic while in the Organization, but it wasn't nearly the same, so he stopped

Roxas accidentally sets his marshmallow on fire, and tries not to be visibly upset as it melts into the coals

Lea purposefully sets his marshmallow on fire, and barely manages to rescue it from melting into the coals before eating the charred remains

Isa gets his marshmallow perfectly toasted first try, and gives it to Roxas

Xion tries to copy Isa and also sets her marshmallow on fire. Isa gives her one too

Mickey tries to be a good instructor on the best marshmallow toasting, but to little avail

Namine is NOT appropriately dressed for this AT ALL. Like girl, I know the white dress is your thing, but just because there's a FIRE doesn't mean it isn't COLD. She ends up with someone's coat soon enough, and is absolutely swamped in it

The RG guys have been meaning to take Ienzo camping since they adopted him, but never got the chance. They are ABSOLUTELY making up for it now

Ienzo has to remind them the while yes, he's never done this before, he IS in his twenties and a scientist to boot; he can figure out how to toast a marshmallow on his own

Ansem then spends the rest of the night discussing Dad-of-a-Young-Adult Feels with Goofy

Even's marshmallow stick is like 2m long; this man is going NOWHERE NEAR the fire, but he still wants his marshmallow toasted, dagnabit

Aeleus, the team dad (change my mind), teaches all the kids to make s'mores. He is equally encouraging whether you can make one better than he can or can barely hold yours together

Dilan is put in charge of raking the coals, but gets too enthusiastic about it to the point it's intolerable to be near them for a few minutes

Hayner is the one that starts the spooky stories

Pence has the most spooky stories

Olette acts spooked even though she's heard them all before

Elrena has to be reminded that there's a difference between spooky and gruesome

Lauriam is simultaneously proud, a little sad, and concerned that Strelitzia doesn't have to turn to him for comfort through the spooky stories

Demyx provides sound effects to the spooky stories, which actually make them spookier. When they get too spooky and they have to stop, he has a whole repertoire of campfire songs to bring up the mood. They don't last long either, but longer than anyone expected

It’s been days, and days, and days. It’s been months. It’s been an eternity. 

He’s had those days, those months, that eternity, to do a lot of thinking. Thinking about what happened. What he had done. 

He’s done what he can to help Kane process it all. It’s easier than having to confront it himself. That was the hard part. It was also inevitable. He would have to face it all eventually. His actions, Kane’s, the outcomes… … If she’d ever come back again. He wonders if she will. 

He wouldn’t blame her if she didn’t. 

All the same, the world didn’t stop just because he needed it to. There were still bills to be paid, orders to fill, matches to enter. Graves to dig. And Kane needed him (he needed Kane). There was no such thing as a day off. 

As a matter of fact, he’s just come in from the workshop. The scent of sawdust still clings to his clothing like cologne. (He’s pretty sure it’s just the scent. He brushed himself off before he came inside, but he knew better than most that that shit was impossible to get rid of.) It’s a hot day out, even by his standards. The whirr of the air conditioning from upstairs lets him know how Kane’s handling things. Not well. Taker can’t blame him. He wipes his hand down his face, leans his elbow against the counter. 

He’s tired. 

More tired than he usually is. His shoulders sag under an intangible weight. He knows what it is. He stays there for– Well, he’s not keeping track. A while. Too long. Not long enough. He isn’t sure. 

There’s a faint creak of the porch that shatters the silence like a thundercrack, and he tenses. That wasn’t Kane. Kane is upstairs. 

That’s not Aeleus or Mox. The steps are wrong. Keith always knocks, and he hadn’t gotten any calls. Who else-? 

He barely has a chance to process how small the approaching form is, who it must be, before her face is pressed into the flannel of his shirt. 

He freezes. 

He can’t help it, he just… Freezes. Tenses up and doesn’t move. He’s not even sure he’s breathing. He can’t react. He can’t. If he moves, it’ll break the illusion. If he moves, it might all disappear. If he moves, he could startle her. If he moves, he could hurt her. He could ruin this. 

He could wake up. 

Slowly, slowly, the shock ebbs. Slowly, the situation settles around him. She’s home. She’s actually home. She's okay. She's alive.

He had wondered about that. 

Yes, she's tough. She always had been. And yes, she had walked away from the fight. But she had been in rough shape after, and he hadn’t heard from her in so long (not that he thought he’d any right to know). He had worried. And he realises now that he’s just been standing there while she waits for him. 

He’s hesitant when he moves again, still with the lingering sense that she might be hurt, that he might hurt her again, that she might vanish into the ether if he makes too sudden a gesture. But his arms settle around her, and she’s still so small, small enough that she all but disappears when he finally returns her embrace. He holds her like a lifeline, pressing his cheek against the top of her head and lifting her feet off the floor. 

“I’m sorry.”

Neighborhood AU

This is my janky KH AU where the kids just live in the same area/go to the same school. Here’s a basic layout for the different households so far!

Scientist Household

Aeleus and Even are married. The have eight kids.

Terra, Ansem, and Xemnas are triplets and the eldest kids

Ienzo is next, and despite not being oldest, he’s lived with Ael and Even the longest

The Repliku Twins are Rey and Luke (No it’s not after Star Wars)

Xion is the first girl and the newest member of the family

Namine is the youngest, and she’s loved by all her fam

Land of Departure Home

Eraqus is a single father

Aqua is his blood daughter 

Ventus and Vanitas are adopted, and are twins

Disney Household

Mickey owns the house and is Riku’s dad

Riku and Kairi are blood siblings

Sora, Donald, and Goofy live there too

Donald and Goofy are Sora’s legal guardians

Others of Note

Isa and Lea share an apartment, and Roxas is Lea’s little brother

Dilan and Braig also share an apartment

The Foretellers run a school called Daybreak Academy

Lauriam, Elrena, Rudlo, and Myed are college students and rooming together

F: Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.

"Oh, really? So you all didn't manipulate me into being the one who convinced Master Ansem to make that special lab for running experiments on hearts? I wanted so badly to prove I was one of you, that I could be taken seriously despite my age and you all… you used and lied to me. Every single one of you. Because Xehanort had us all so caught up in his cult of personality that you told a child that his guardian… his only remaining family had abandoned him. And that it was my fault for helping hide our experiments from him. You made me think he'd gone mad and I was to blame. I knew our experiments were wrong, but you were the adults. I followed your examples because I thought I could trust you to do the right thing, to protect me. I shouldn't have needed protecting from you!"

The full scene is that Aeleus started teasing Ienzo about his 'girlfriend', who was a friend who'd read into Ienzo's friendliness the wrong way since Ienzo is aromantic and instead of accepting she'd made a mistake and staying friends with him is now giving him the cold shoulder. It's sort of a 'straw the broke the camel's back' moment. Ienzo hasn't been feeling respected by Aeleus or Dilan as a coworker already and he's been stressed over realizing he isn't interested in romantic relationships and the way he was treated as a child was very manipulative and abusive - something Aeleus and Dilan were a big part of. And they never really apologized for any of it.

It was really cathartic to write, really. When I was first figuring out that I'm aromantic, my sister wasn't taking my refusal to sign up for online dating seriously - she never signed me up without my permission, but only because my brother-in-law convinced her that'd be a bad idea. Thank goodness for him, really. In retrospect my parents didn't really realize I was telling them I was queer when I came out to them the first time around. And my dad has a tendency to treat verbal arguments like he's won if I tear up - guess who stress cries easily?

Writing a character confronting someone who'd wronged him and wasn't listening when repeatedly corrected was something I really needed to write out. And while things have improved for me over the years - my sister is now a big supporter despite our differences and my parents actually understand that me being aromantic and asexual are my queer identities now (though dad's still a dick when we argue about something - he doesn't like to be told he's wrong and absolutely moves goalposts mid argument, multiple times, if it means 'winning'). I think the feelings I got onto the page for that fic are still with me and have influenced other fics as well. But there was just something particularly special about writing for Ienzo in that fic that I come back to when I'm struggling with my family over something.

G: Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?

So I usually write start to finish. But not always, which would frustrate me a lot before I started treating my ideas as something that could stretch across a series of fics. That way I can write a single fic, start to finish, but in terms of its placement within the larger story, maybe it's way down in the timeline and the next fic I write could be at an earlier point. I still mostly tend to write the separate fics within a series in chronological order, but I'm a lot more comfortable writing things out of order than I used to. It doesn't lock me up or frustrate me which has definitely shown itself in how much I write and post these days.
