Love the credits art in the Bigtop Burger compilation! Just curious - my immediate assumption was that in the first photo Tim, Billie, and Steve are sending Penny that selfie so she feels included, and the second photo is Penny sending one of her and her daughter back. Is that accurate?

This is a couple pages late, but thanks for making Sylas self-aware. IRL I often see people like Sylas (bad with boundaries, surrounded by crummy "friends") excused by others because they "don't know any better" or are thought to be bad at reading people. But in my experience, these people are usually perfectly self-aware and merely in denial or afraid to rock the boat/admit the truth. It's nice to see a character reflect that reality. (Also, looking forward to more NS, as always!)

This is as much an fahc Trevor headcanon as it is a Jeremy one, but ever since watching AHasta La Vista Revisited I've liked to imagine that Jeremy and Trevor are the "infiltration crew". And by that I mean they're the two guys you call when you need a truck to put a new hole in the side of your otherwise very secure target building.

i’ve been meaning to make this post for awhile, but haven’t been able to assemble what exactly i want to say in advance. i don’t precisely have an audience that’s here for me - my understanding is that most of my followers come for my vintage parenting post and stay for my laugh rule tag - but it still feels like significant life changes are worth marking here, at least for the people who’ve been following me for awhile? so let’s just run down what’s new:

(cw: mentions of past depression and suicidal ideation)

hi there. i’m troy. you might’ve known me by a different name before. that’s okay, but do your best to forget it. if you’ve only ever known me as daeranilen or dae up to this point, that’s okay too! feel free to keep calling me that.

i’m a gay gnc trans man. or guess i mostly gay? sexuality is complicated. what i’m trying to say without sounding like a gross boy is that my sexuality is “sorry, ladies.” before this, i identified as aromantic asexual i-guess-nonbinary-feels-least-wrong, and i ID’d that way for a pretty long time! but it turns out, that’s actually just how long i’ve been super depressed.

it feels bad to admit that, especially here, where i blogged about aro-ace-ness in particular for a decent chunk of my time. i’ve had personal experience with people insisting i’d just eventually admit i was a lesbian (joke’s on them, i guess; that’s the one thing i was absolutely sure i wasn’t), and i hate the idea that i’m feeding those sorts of garbage myths. but for me, at least, my truth is that i spent a very long time so utterly numb that i didn’t notice i could feel shit like true happiness, much less sexual attraction or gender euphoria. it’s thanks to therapy and medication that i was able to reverse the slow death spiral i was in.

relatedly: i’m quitting grad school and working on getting a job that won’t devour my entire life. i really don’t care what i do from here on out. i just care that the work won’t follow me home ever again - that i can show up at my job, do my job, and then leave my job behind at the end of the day. i’m applying to a lot of coffeeshops and local places. cross your fingers for me.

i have a partner. i’m writing poetry again. i still like video games, but i don’t spend all my time trying to avoid my own life by playing them. i adopted a cat last year. i want to get into hiking this summer. i have a lot of things i want to do this summer, and this fall, and this winter, and next spring. i can look ahead in a way i couldn’t before, and it’s breathtaking.

this blog probably won’t change much. but the person behind it is changing so, so much, and i hope you don’t mind me sharing my excitement with you. :)

Hey, did you see the NPR article about the closing of the Ringling Brothers Circus? I was wondering what you thought about its conflation of animal rights and animal welfare movements (and also its treatment of the Humane Society and PETA as legitimate, less-than-radical organizations).

It aggravates me, honestly, because whomever wrote it obviously doesn’t know very much about HSUS or PETA, their current actions, or the history and radicalization of the animal rights movement. (I’ve been down a rabbit hole the last week researching the evolution of animal rights, from the Enlightenment period to Hitler to the terrorist mentality of activists in 1960-70′s England that heavily influenced the founders of American’s current organizations). It also bothers me that the entire article is basically a platform for Pacelle and various PETA talking heads to review their list of ‘recent successes’ without including any input from anyone who actually works with animals or is not part of the organizations, much less anyone actually involved with a circus or even the company that owned Ringling. I don’t like seeing the mainstream media legitimize animal rights through biased articles that read more like press released than good journalism attempting to portray any nuance that might exist in the situation.

The portrait mods featured here have a style that is similar to the vanilla sprites, so immersion is rarely broken if only some of these mods are used. They also try to keep the general character of the vanilla sprites (for example, Elliott’s smug expression is retained). Pretty sure there's multiple pizza guy Jeremy fics, actually. I couldn't find them offhand, but I am sure there's at least two tumblr posts of it and definitely a couple short fics on AO3.
