Its absolutely insane to me that I’ve never seen any popular depictions of class 78 being haunted during the first killing game in thh. Mutilated and distorted beyond repair and following the survivors, catching glimpses of people you t h i n k you loved at the corner of your eyes, turning your head and seeing nothing. The smell of blood. Watching them kill each other. Waiting.

Okay. So I’m not anywhere close to Danganronpa 3 but I’m letting AMVs play in the background and occasionally looking over.

Apparently there were exciting if brief anime battles between the Remnants and the Future Foundation ultimates?

Actually the more I think about it, the Future Foundation was actively trying to stop the world from imploding and was a fairly (as far as they knew) safe place to be up until the final killing game.

Why did they lock class 78 up on school grounds that had already been set on fire once? And not in the fortress building that was defended by a lot of adult-ish ultimates?

Maybe Jin was hoarding them out of spite.

Tengan banging on the vault door and yelling “come on! I want Sakura to have a shonen battle against Akane! It’d be like Goku vs Vegeta! I want Sayaka and Ibuki to have a battle of the bands! Speaking of class 78, my favorite DR1: Anthology manga chapter is probably Hifumi’s, where he finds a manga manuscript that he thinks is objectively better than his and completely freaks out about it.

Basically, he believes that the only way for that manuscript to be so good is for that artist to have friends that critique his work. It’s implied that the manuscript is his from before the killing game, when he had class 78 as friends and they gave him feedback on his stuff.

I’m well aware of the fact that the anthologies most definitely aren’t canon, but I DO think this chapter fits in with the established canon of the class caring about each other! Including Junko and Hifumi. Ik at the end of the day, even that can be debated. But I choose my reality ☝️ I really believe they were all friends, or at the very least, cared significantly about each other enough to choose to live together forever in a school.

After the 5th trial, the survivors give Makoto the we need you speech. And he just snaps at them.

Because he's tired.

He doesn't want to be strong, he doesn't want to be needed. Why does everything have to rest on him all the time?

He's cold, he doesn't remember his last meal. And for once he wants to be the held and not the holder.

Why do they get the luxury of breaking down when he's not allowed?

If his survival wasn't important than why is everyone looking at him to lead them?

If his talent is so useless and he's such an annoyance, why listen to him now?

What was killing me the first time not good enough for you? Is this the price for living?
