she hasn’t been outside in a long time, she had to greet and smooch each plant individually

#idk man i just got lazy #decided she was just as happy inside as she was outside #and i got nervous having her outside in case she jumped the fence or something #especially since the neighbours have 2 big german shepherds #but i've been doing a lot of CPD webinars and courses on cat behaviour and creating a happy lifestyle for cats #and i decided she's worth it #especially because she loves being outside #fig is a different story lol #she likes being outside but she reverts to her feral self and she hides/can't be caught #which is too dangerous to risk #so unfortunately figgy will have to accept that she's 100% an inside kitty #fil can come and hang out with us when i'm downstairs though #filmore #the cat edition

If we get ONE MORE BATCH OF KITTENS... I think my BF is gonna lose it fidjjd. I'm already losing it. Look at them.

Liiiiiitle rant and plans under the cut.

I keep looking out our window to check on this family that popped up under our shed. This is not the first time a pregnant cat has come to our home to have her babies (though I think papa cat has actually come along this time). This is the 3rd or 4th time this has happened, and we are nearly positive it's because a lot of our neighbors have either abandoned or neglected to spay/neuter their cats and allowed feral colonies to explode in the area. We've also been taking care of the feral colony outside our house as best we can, so we also think we accidentally made our house the "safe zone" for feral kitties.

We're gonna catch, spay, and release the mom to our yard if she is feral (and we'll do out best to keep her around our house in that case), but if she's not? She and her babies are gonna be found homes once they are old enough. Babies are getting caught and to the vet asap regardless, just like the past liters that have popped up.

Also like. If I find out where these cats keep getting pregnant/coming from?

I'M GONNA HAVE WORDS WITH EM ABOUT CAT CARE.

#please spay/neuter your cats #please keep your cats inside #we PHYSICALLY cannot bring in all these cats becuase our home is too small #and we pay to take care of the ferals out of pocket #wish we could bring them inside asap but it would be dangerous with our 2 indoor cats in a small space

My local radio station's morning show really has it out for my mental health these days

#got absolutely blindsided by my mother's favorite yusuf/cat stevens album for today's 50th anniversary spotlight #which if i wasn't so dangerously burnt out and in pain and hadn't been on the way home from dropping the kitten at the vet #(shes fine its for her spay appointment) i would probably have handled it like a champ #instead i immediately started sobbing like a child having a nightmare. drove all the way home crying. walked inside crying.#turned on the radio to continue my suffering because they played the whole album. fed Marlowe while crying.#and sat on the kitchen floor to have the meltdown thats been building up for the last week and change and probably isnt over #so thanks alex c of the morning show i have to go to work now. its officially now a two smoke and maybe anxiety meds kind of day.#this will be fun to discuss at therapy. 'yeah cat stevens caused a break down. no. no I don't know how to expand on it either.'

*whispers* outdoor cats in the UK are just as harmful to the environment as outdoor cats in the US.

#it’s late and I’m tired so I can’t get sources right now #but being in the uk doesn’t mean you should ignore all the anti outdoor cat posts #there’s a lot of issues with outdoor cats there too #one of which is the tragedy of the Scottish wild cat :(#they’re suffering because of domestic cats #also there’s still dangers to cats in the uk #like cars and people and dogs #I’m not sure what all predators are common there #but still there’s a lot of general dangers that apply anywhere #keep your cats inside

There is something special about the warrior cats kid growing up to be a conservationist birder who hates feral cats tremendously

we have a gap/hole in the bottom of the doorframe of our back door for some reason that various bugs and lizards and spiders have been crawling through to get into the house. my parents are freaking out trying to find a solution and im just like this is the exact opposite of a problem these are my friends <3

Cannot watch 'cute cat videos' on here anymore because they either a. Endanger the cat or B. Endanger a prey animal that is being forced to interact with the cat

Outside cats are either directly responsible for, or have been implicated in, the extinctions of 63 species

Dangers to the cat include the obvious: cars, wild animals, other cats, diseases from wild animals and cats, diseases from ticks, worms and other parasites, and the less obvious: rocksalt poisoning from licking melted snow off their feet and antifreeze poisoning from consuming chemicals that negligent humans leave out

Please please please keep your cats inside!!

This might be kinda goofy sounding but what do you guys think of Mica Clan as the name of Mudpaw’s clan?

The area I based the camp/territory on is super close to an abandoned mica mine! The dirt in the area is sort of sparkly from the mica that was brought to the surface, and since I’m making the mine canon to the story in the form of the Moonmirror, I thought it might fit!

Or should I think of a name that doesn’t fit their territory, since the clan moved there from their old one? But then I’d have to think of what their old territory was like, and I haven’t gotten that deep into the history lol

Maybe they decide to change the clan name when they arrive at the new territory??? But I can’t really see that happening... :/ many thoughts head full

#youre not dead . also youre better and trying to get better even more than before . you arent going to be alone forever or at least #you wont get to be alone for much longer . you make friends you love you kiss a boy when youre drunk you kind of fall in love with your #mathematician friend you meet very clever people including an economist who is very good at everything including perfumes and #the card game speed and seeing you . you link arms with people you sign a contract for renting a house you play the violin you have your #first exam in a week (almost 11 months for you) and its neuroscience and by the way youre kind of good at neuroscience and youre kind of #good at philosophy . you love your degree you have breakdowns about maths you bleach your hair you go to an alt j concert tonight you kiss #your cat you want to kiss your friends hand you refer to elsewhere as home you pull all nighters and you take #a spontaneous trip to everywhere and you get almost crushed by an avalanche and you go inside a train underwater and you might live in #venice for a bit and you get a job that has paid you 0 so far and you stroke your friends hair and barely get better at cooking but much #better at cleaning and you start taking care of your skin . you learn about manifolds and you have a failed crush who teaches you an #awful lot about pharmacy and humans and chemicals but not a lot about love . and each day you accept the risk of love and often you #experience the stab of grief (evidence that you are a feeling loving caring thing) and each day you thank yourself #for loving philosophy and maths and neuroscience and AI (except everything else is philosophy really and everythin else is maths really)#you have black swan moments and black bear moments and more than anything i dont want to tell you that it will get better because i know #you secretly wanted to give anyone who ever said that a sucker punch . i want to thank you for choosing to live despite despite despite #(you preached for the world but i know you wanted to die) (thank you for looking at that dangerous thing and finding the reflections #of light on it beautiful enough to live another day and another and another and another.)

It's just frustrating bc if I had my way none of our cats would go outside unless on a harness or with direct supervision but my dad will not listen to me and lets hasa out whenever he pleases

#life and times #grr!#i bring her in whenever i see her but its gotten to the point where she will not let me within a 10ft radius of her when shes out bc #she knows ill take her inside #and the reasoning is always well she was feral so she needs to have outside time. which is just so blatantly false #and ive talked to him abt it and he knows the statistics of cat caused animal deaths/extinctions and he just. does not care #and i dont know how to make him care #today i caught her trotting across the atreet from the neighbors yard carrying a rodent AS LONG AS HER 'FOREARM'#like not only is it dangerous for other critters when shes out its also dangerous for her!!! that thing could have done some damage to her!#ugh excuse the typos and tag rant im mad
