I imagine that there's going to be a day in their future together where Dan and Herbert are having some argument about their work for the billionth time, and Hebert will bring up Meg mid-way through their argument because he's toxic like that and instead of it usually working and manipulating Dan like usual, Dan is just unfazed by it. He just casually deflects it like "c'mon Herb you know that has nothing to do with this" and he just continues making his points. But Herbert's not listening. He's stunned. He's baffled that his tactic didn't work, because bringing up Meg usually wins him their fights and at the least makes Dan storm off so they can both cool down and forget about it.

But not this time. Not today. To anyone else this it would've been obvious to see that this was going to happen eventually because it's been years since the bride and even longer since the Arkham massacre. Dan's healed, reflected, and worked on himself (Maybe not fully but you get the point). He's moved on from Meg. But Herbert hasn't.

Meg was his metaphorical fish bait to hook Dan onto and reel him back in towards Herbert. But today he's left with the sudden realization that it didn't work and it's not going to work ever again.

"Herbert are you even listening? Yknow what, I know you're not so I'm just going up to start on dinner, I'll call you when its ready."

Dan leaves.

Dan might leave him; Herbert's mind tells him. He might leave Herbert permanently, forever, his mind reels.

If Dan's gotten over Meg, then that means Herbert's lost his biggest grapple to keep Dan around when things get tense between the two of them. He has nothing to hold over Dan's head filled with a guilty conscience, nothing to hold onto Dan with.

Of course, Herbert doesn't realize that Dan's gotten over Meg, Francessca, and all other women and people because he's completely moved onto Herbert. Wonder how long it'll take him to get his thoughts in order and figure that out. Probably awhile considering that when Herbert snaps out of his funk by Dan calling "Dinner's ready!" from the kitchen he checks his watch and realizes that he's been standing in the same spot and staring into space for the past 43 minutes.

erm. so. IDK if you saw it but the other night i made a post saying there was still time to get a samara weaving x james roday rodriguez (herein JRR) horror collab. since. samara's starred in some flicks and JRR's directed at least two. and if you'll remember, they're also ellie & donny's face claims in CIFL <3 so it's slightly self serving but mainly i think it would be a project the pair of them would have fun with, since it seems to be a genre they enjoy working on <3

NOW ! the current title is still a working title because. we know i struggle with titles. but also i do kind of like it for its mystique. and i think like. taking the aspects of the actual spiritual concept of 'dharma' particularly the ideas of like. cosmic governance and delineated rules is fitting because. well the current thought for the premise is samara as Daphne Kirkman & JRR as Daniel Mesas, who are a toxic power couple who. i mean they're not Necessarily assassins but like you can hire them and they'll handle someone or people who have wronged you. and they call themselves The Karma Police since they're wielding karma on that wrongful person, and 'karma is their dharma' by way of dealing said karma is their cosmic allocation of purpose and such.

now i SAID graphic and triggering because. well. they don't make the hits pretty, of course. in fact they enjoy the splatter of blood and the violence. but don't get it twisted. it's not because they're under the influence of the devil / collecting sacrifices for a satanic ritual, nor that they don't understand the moral ethics or consequences; as i was telling our beloved mutual friend ray, it's a calculated and purely human choice To be doing these things. including because they find it hot sexy of one another. which is part of the toxicity of course. and also that it's like unhealthy obsession with one another (including daniel's unending devotion to daphne) and, well, unsafe sexual practices (in multiple meanings of the phrase). honestly unsafe everything on account of incidents of non-supernatural vampirism and cannibalism and whatever else.

i still have a lot to figure out. first and foremost how to make a Plot out of this to make any sort of script. plus like. other details such as. when/why they started doing these things. like i have an *idea* of religious trauma/bad religious figures for daniel and bad stepparents for daphne but i need to explore that. and explore how they met + got into this business with one another. AND explore more of what i told ray about a king & knight symbolism, where daphne is the king and daniel the knight; like i said that it's something of daphne being cunning and powerful, knowing her way around wielding said power as well as her own violence, but sometimes she likes to appreciate daniel's deeply rooted loyalty to her and his penchant for brutality so she'll let that take over. so i need to look more into that, and some idea of daphne being a daughter/descendant of cain (even just metaphorically) so this is deeply seated in her DNA or whatever, IDK.

dug out two old favorites from my late teens/early twenties to see if i still like them - and especially Hannibal definitely still tickles something inside me. is it a *great* book? eh, probably not. its very entertaining tho. and i just really love love love that ending. The Robber Bride on the other hand i remembered being better. like, its not a bad book, just didn't hit that well for some reason

Calvino - liked this one a lot more than Invisible Cities. very meta, and shows its age, but i was pleasantly surprised.

all 3 Danielle Cain books (Margaret Killjoy my beloved), now that the third one is out. they're all novellas, so pretty short. i dig em.

Theirs is a long slow burn/office romance/psychological horror/fantasy epic that takes many mini get togethers/break ups and self discoveries until they an official couple

Early on in Danny’s reign, he isn’t quite accustomed to his powers and thus many hijinks/misadventures ensue. Also he pushes himself too hard and can fall into this ‘torpor-like’ state where he passes out and becomes mostly unresponsive to regain energy. The first time it happens Cori panics and refuses to let anyone else carry him back to the castle to recover, growling at anyone who comes close. The Dreaming as a whole still works, but everything ‘slows’ down and dreamkin feel kinda tired themselves.

Tons of roleplay in their more sensual scenarios, letting them both play out narratives that suit their respective fantasies and kinks.

I have tons others but I’ve clogged your asks enough right now, ahah. Of course I’d love to hear if you have anything else to add or your own headcanons!

It's so beautiful and has something almost fairytale-like to imagine the Corinthian watching over Daniel's body as he recovers his strength. The Dreaming is covered in snow, and it's cold, but not a cruel cold: it's a gentle winter that happens whenever this torpor descends on the King of Dreams. Yes, everything is slower and sleepy: Mervyn naps in a corner of the throne room instead of putting up the curtains, Lucien has to resort to his special supply of black tea to stay awake, Cain is too sleepy to inflict the punishment that Abel deserves, and Matthew plays with other ravens with snowflakes. Only the Corinthian remains alert and awake, in the farthest and most inaccessible room of the palace, and to make his Lord's rest even safer he creates a complicated tangle of corridors and rooms, and access to Dream's private chambers becomes a labyrinth of which the Nightmare alone knows the right way. No one can approach Daniel, unless the Corinthian wants to. Every time he awaits his King's awakening and does not let even light disturb his rest: silently, he gently brush Daniel's cheek with his fingers, in a caress more delicate and discreet than a whisper. In the absolute darkness of the room, the body of his beloved appears to the Corinthian as white and precious as a pearl....

....but I also imagine a more funny situation, where Daniel suddenly falls asleep in the most inaccessible and dangerous places of the kingdom, and the Corinthian punctually has to go and retrieve him amidst a thousand difficulties :D

Ohohoh, we're on the same page! One of my favorite hc's is that often in their intimacy they both like to 'pretend' to be human and that playing 'being human' is one of the things that they enjoy the most: Daniel specially creates eyes for the Corinthian for the sensual and perverse pleasure of extracting and devouring them, just as his lover taught him (which excites the Corinthian terribly, by the way). I am working on a story about this, I hope to finish soon ^^

Another thing that excites both is when between the two of them it's only Daniel who pretends to be human, almost as if they both take pleasure in a sort of reversal of roles in which it's the Corinthian, as a Nightmare, who has more power and therefore Daniel, as a 'human', finds himself at the absolute mercy of his lover. The Corinthian savors the pleasure of having total control, Daniel the pleasure of having none.

“Abide in me.”

Genesis 5:21-24

Our reading leads us to think upon that eminent saint of the antediluvian church, Enoch, the seventh from Adam.

Genesis 5:21-24

Here it is worthy of notice that the sacred writer says once that Enoch “lived;” but he changes the word and writes Enoch “walked with God” thus teaching us that communion with God was Enoch’s life, and truly so it ought to be ours. He was not a mere talker about God, but a walker with God. This holy patriarch lived in unbroken intercourse with the Lord for three hundred years, not now and then visiting with God, but habitually walking with him. This is a point of great difficulty. To draw near to God is comparatively easy; but to remain in undivided fellowship, “this is the work, this is the labour.” Yet the Holy Spirit can enable us to accomplish even this. Continued communion is what we should aim at, and we should not be content with anything short of it.

Some excuse themselves from seeking after unbroken fellowship with God because of their calling, their circumstances, and their numerous engagements. Enoch had the cares of a family upon him, and he was also a public preacher, and yet he kept up his walk with God: no business or household cares should make us forget our God. Society with God is the safety of saints, it is their solace and delight, it is their honour and crown. More to be desired is it than gold, yea, than much fine gold. Happy was Enoch to enjoy it so sweetly, and so continuously. The long intercourse of this good man with his God ended in his being borne away from earth without death to that place where faith is lost in sight. He did not live like others, and therefore he did not die like others.

Paul tells us a little more concerning this holy man, and we will gather up the fragments of his history which remain on record, that nothing may be lost.

One of the three virtues? I dunno, it's probably a Catholic thing. My name sounds like I'm a Vampire Slayer love child.

I'm from the north, we don't do that here. We just stare stoicly into the distance.

One, my daughter. I'd have loved to have had more children. But sadly that doesn't seem to be what fate has in store for me.

What sports do you play/have played?:

I used to dance when I was younger, but yeah... I'd rather knaw off my own knees then do sport.

Something beautiful about them. Not in a shallow way. You spend enough time around artists for a living, you start to notice how lovely someone's elbow is. How someone holds themselves just so. How pretty someone's hair looks in a certain light. Stuff like that. Every body is it's own work of art.

Blue/Grey... Picture what you think the skies in Britain look like, 10 out of the 12 months of the year. That.

Both, neither, like everything else in my life it entirely depends on my mood. I'm an intemperate creature prone to whimsy.

I'm far too English to admit to being talented at anything. (Insert embarrassed, awkward mumbling). I have been told I'm fleet of foot upon the moorland. Is being a moor elf a talent?

I dabble in many an art and craft. I love walking in nature, I'd be out there every day if I could. TV, film, books, podcasts. There's so much wonderful media at our fingertips today, it's amazing when you stop and think about it. My beloved scrapbooks ofcourse, cataloguing my life and loves in an array of pictures and washi tape.

I have a literal zoo.

Taller then a pony, smaller then a horse. Glad we could clear that up.

History, I've always loved history. I'd have spent my entire education in history if I'd been allowed to.
