what's your policy on ties?

only a perfect 50/50 counts as a tie. if one bait is even .1% higher than another, they win. i did this because i thought it would be funny and i also want to avoid tiebreaker rounds as much as possible

yes! you are free to tag me in propaganda or to send it as an ask, although i will probably not reblog/respond to anti-propaganda. (you're free to make it or tag me though, it'll probably make me laugh)

what are you counting as straightbait?

the definition of straightbait in this tournament is intentionally very loose, and the poll question is also vague on purpose (is it celebratory or derogatory? who knows). i've accepted submissions with more obvious examples of "straightbait", such as cases where m/f couples are teased but never get together or are revealed to be queer. however, i've also accepted couples where they have some kind of weird fucking thing going on that could be interpreted a number of ways but isn't straightforward canonical m/f romance, "buried straights" who die after romance is confirmed, and a number of other things. i go more into this tournament's definition of straightbait here and here.

why is this couple in the tournament if they get together canonically?

see above. in most cases where this question comes up, we're talking about buried straights. if the characters in question are queer, it is straightbait at least partially by virtue of those characters not being straight. and if neither of the above, the answer you are looking for will be in the propaganda.

you're free to argue about the validity of a straightbait in the tags, amongst yourselves, or in propaganda, but please don't come to me about whether a bait should or shouldn't be in the tournament. their inclusion on this blog + submitted propaganda speaks for itself

what is The Policy?

sometimes i rb propaganda posts that i tag with #as per The Policy. the policy says that any time i encounter a post on my dash that is related to one of the pairs in this tournament such that it could be used as propaganda, i have to reblog it.

how were the matchups decided?

i sorted all my submissions into popularity tiers, then randomized matchups within each tier, so characters were matched up with others with equal or similar popularity to the best of my ability. tiers were based on how many submissions a pair received and how well they did in the singles tournament. there were five or six tiers in total, although it's been long enough since i made the bracket that i do not remember the exact number

what is the singles tournament?

the singles tournament was a preliminary tournament that i ran for every pairing or character that was only submitted once, hence "singles". i only automatically qualified straightbaits with more than one submission, so i did this to allow more submissions to enter the main tournament. also a chance to see your blorbo in a poll at least once, even if they didn't qualify

what should i do if you've gotten something wrong?

Hi! I was that corinthiel anon from before and i since i got your permission here are some headcanons i have for them:

Theirs is a long slow burn/office romance/psychological horror/fantasy epic that takes many mini get togethers/break ups and self discoveries until they an official couple

Early on in Danny’s reign, he isn’t quite accustomed to his powers and thus many hijinks/misadventures ensue. Also he pushes himself too hard and can fall into this ‘torpor-like’ state where he passes out and becomes mostly unresponsive to regain energy. The first time it happens Cori panics and refuses to let anyone else carry him back to the castle to recover, growling at anyone who comes close. The Dreaming as a whole still works, but everything ‘slows’ down and dreamkin feel kinda tired themselves.

Tons of roleplay in their more sensual scenarios, letting them both play out narratives that suit their respective fantasies and kinks.

I have tons others but I’ve clogged your asks enough right now, ahah. Of course I’d love to hear if you have anything else to add or your own headcanons!

It's so beautiful and has something almost fairytale-like to imagine the Corinthian watching over Daniel's body as he recovers his strength. The Dreaming is covered in snow, and it's cold, but not a cruel cold: it's a gentle winter that happens whenever this torpor descends on the King of Dreams. Yes, everything is slower and sleepy: Mervyn naps in a corner of the throne room instead of putting up the curtains, Lucien has to resort to his special supply of black tea to stay awake, Cain is too sleepy to inflict the punishment that Abel deserves, and Matthew plays with other ravens with snowflakes. Only the Corinthian remains alert and awake, in the farthest and most inaccessible room of the palace, and to make his Lord's rest even safer he creates a complicated tangle of corridors and rooms, and access to Dream's private chambers becomes a labyrinth of which the Nightmare alone knows the right way. No one can approach Daniel, unless the Corinthian wants to. Every time he awaits his King's awakening and does not let even light disturb his rest: silently, he gently brush Daniel's cheek with his fingers, in a caress more delicate and discreet than a whisper. In the absolute darkness of the room, the body of his beloved appears to the Corinthian as white and precious as a pearl....

....but I also imagine a more funny situation, where Daniel suddenly falls asleep in the most inaccessible and dangerous places of the kingdom, and the Corinthian punctually has to go and retrieve him amidst a thousand difficulties :D

Ohohoh, we're on the same page! One of my favorite hc's is that often in their intimacy they both like to 'pretend' to be human and that playing 'being human' is one of the things that they enjoy the most: Daniel specially creates eyes for the Corinthian for the sensual and perverse pleasure of extracting and devouring them, just as his lover taught him (which excites the Corinthian terribly, by the way). I am working on a story about this, I hope to finish soon ^^

Another thing that excites both is when between the two of them it's only Daniel who pretends to be human, almost as if they both take pleasure in a sort of reversal of roles in which it's the Corinthian, as a Nightmare, who has more power and therefore Daniel, as a 'human', finds himself at the absolute mercy of his lover. The Corinthian savors the pleasure of having total control, Daniel the pleasure of having none.

23. Kiss … in relief

George’s heart was racing as he made his way through the sliding door, his rain damp trainers squeaking on the polished sheet vinyl flooring as he scurried across the lobby, nearly slipping right in front of the “Wet Floor” sign. There was another man in line in front of him and he resisted the urge to tap his foot impatiently. He swallowed hard, trying to will himself to stay calm. He needed to stay calm and level headed. Matty needed him to stay calm and level headed. Only one of them was allowed to freak out at a time and George knew that it was not his turn.

The man turned away, a hospital bracelet fastened around his wrist and George felt a pang of sympathy as he watched him take a step to the side, headed towards the waiting room area. But he pushed it down, he was here under his own power, meaning it couldn’t be dire. It was his turn to speak with the receptionist. 

“I’m looking for Matthew Healy,” George said, quickly, bracing his hands on the counter, “I got a call that he was admitted.” 

“Can you spell that for me please?” the receptionist asked.

George swallowed down his irritation. “Healy, H-E-A-L-Y,” he said and the receptionist hit a few buttons on the keyboard, frowning as she looked at the screen. 

“And you are?” she asked, looking up at George, her expression bored, as if she wasn’t the only thing standing between Geroge and the love of his life. 

“Ah, George Daniel, his partner and power of attorney?” he said, hating that it sounded like a question, hating that he knew that title didn’t even begin to cover it. Matty was his soul mate, his other half, his twin flame burning, one could not exist without the other. However, he seemed to have earned her approval because she hit a few buttons on her computer and then nodded to herself. 

“He’s in room twenty oh two,” she said, “it’s through the double doors on the right, down the hall to the left,” she said.  

George barely remembered to thank her before he was running through the double doors she had indicated, watching the room numbers tick by as he looked for 2002.

He froze just outside the door, heart hammering in his chest as he tried to mentally prepare himself for what he was going to find. Was Matty going to be intubated and sedated? Was he going to be handcuffed to the bed? George swallowed hard, hating the uncertainty, hating that upon receiving the call his stomach had dropped. He hated that his first thought, even after all these years, was that Matty was drunk. Or high. Or a combination of the two.

The woman he had spoken with hadn’t been able to give him any information over the phone. Just that Matty had been involved in a single car accident and had been admitted into the hospital a little over halfway between Manchester and London. He had been driving back from visiting his mother, George hated himself as he buckled his own seatbelt that he had declined joining Matty on the trip.

He had made it to the hospital in record time, while still being careful of the heavy downpour. Worst case scenarios playing out in his mind's eye as he drove. Matty was drunk. He had to have been Geroge thought darkly. He loved Denise but also knew she would never discourage another glass of wine, he knew that Matty would never turn one down. He ran his fingers through his close cropped hair, the strands wet even from the sprint from the parking lot. He swallowed hard. He needed to rip off the bandaid. He needed to open the door. He was just terrified, uncertain, afraid of what he was going to find. 

A nurse rounded the corner and made eye contact with George, smiling up at him. “You can go in,” she said kindly, her accent thick and Scottish, seeing George’s hesitation. 

He took a deep breath, and turned the handle. 

“Oh love,” he said, the words slipping out of his mouth before he could stop them. 

Matty was curled up on his side, his back to the door, his dark curls, the ringlets matted together with what George hoped was water and not blood, were sticking out from the top of the blanket draped over him. He rolled over, the movement slow and careful as if it caused him great pain. 

“George?” he asked, his voice rough and wet as he sat up, blinking up at him like he couldn’t believe what he was seeing.

“I’m here, baby,” he said, moving through the doorway and deeper into the room, his legs moving on their own accord to Matty’s bedside. 

He reached out, running his hands down his skinny shoulders, his sides, checking him over as if he knew what he was looking for, as if he could pinpoint what was wrong with him, what was hiding beneath the thin hospital gown. He had a cut on his cheek, a butterfly bandage holding it together, and George was sure his chest was bruised from the seatbelt and airbags, his neck aching from the whiplash. He leaned down, pressing their lips together. He licked into Matty’s mouth, burying his fingers in the curls, holding his head steady so as not to aggravate his neck, he could taste blood from Matty’s lip, he must have bitten it during the crash. 

“You’re okay,” George whispered, eyes wide, as he pulled away, relief oozing from every pore. There was no alcohol on Matty’s tongue. “You’re okay.” 

Matty sniffled, “I’m so sorry,” he said, he was crying quietly George realized, “I fucked up,” he hiccuped, “I’m so sorry.”  

“Ssh,” said George sitting on the edge of the bed, pulling Matty into his arms. “It’s okay, you’re okay.”

Matty turned and buried his face against George’s chest, his breathing evening out as George ran his hand down his back, his hand hot against the cool bare skin visible between the open sides of the gown. 

“What happened, love?” George asked, wanting to hear Matty’s account before he flagged down the doctor. 

Matty sniffled and took a shaking breath. “Well,” he said wetly, “my car is fucked.” 

George bit back a laugh. “We can replace that,” he said and Matty snorted. 

“It was raining,” he said quietly, “and you know I don’t see too well at night anymore, and a deer ran out in front of the car, I tried to swerve, but I was going too fast, I just wanted to get home, and I ended up hitting a ditch on the side of the road,” he said the words coming in a rush. “And the next thing I knew the airbags went off and I was rolling down the hill.” 

He took another breath, “they said I was lucky,” he said quietly, “that I had a good car, it could have been a lot worse.” 

“So what you’re saying is we need to get you another Audi,” George said, trying to cheer Matty up, trying to make him smile, the grief and upset rolling off of him in waves making George’s heartbreak. 

“I don’t think I want to drive anywhere for a while,” Matty said softly, keeping his eyes downcast. “The doctor’s said I can’t anyway, I have a concussion.” 

“And that’s okay too,” said George, pressing another kiss to Matty’s lips in relief. “I’m just happy that you’re going to be alright.”

I got really really bored. If y'all don't know, I left the Christian faith after spending literally my entire life there (like I was a youth leader and the music worship leader at my church for years). These years have provided me with a knowledge about the Bible I will simply never forget because wow. I have read the Bible 12 times. The Bible is full of ridiculous stories. So I have complied a list:

The Most Batshit Ridiculous Stories in the Bible (off the top of my head):

Matthew 21:18-22

TLDR: So, essentially, Jesus just fucking kills a tree because it's not in harvest season. Like walked up to a tree and was like "gimme the fruit" and the tree was like "bruh it's December, I don't have fruit" so Jesus was like "then perish" and it did.

Full Verse is:

18 Early in the morning, as Jesus was on his way back to the city, he was hungry. 19 Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. TLDR: Daniel wants to get married, but the bride's father doesn't want that. So he sends Daniel on a quest to collect the foreskins of his 100 enemies. He 100% thinks Daniel will die on this quest because who the fuck goes around collecting the foreskins of enemies? But Daniel not only succeeds, but comes back with double the foreskins he was required to retrieve.

Judges 14:6

TLDR: Samson was strolling with his parents, saw a lion, and for some reason decided to just rip it in half? Like figured that was the only way to keep the lion from interrupting his family time. The lion didn't even fucking attack.

TLDR: Jesus just fucking straight up tells his friends that they have to hate their parents and themselves if they want to continue being friends with him. That is real. This actually happens in the Bible. This is often referred to as the "Cost of Discipleship."

HIS PRESENT REIGN

The reign of Jesus began with his exaltation to the messianic throne after his Death and Resurrection – Psalms 110:1. 

The New Testament links Christ’s enthronement to his Death and Resurrection by using key messianic texts from the Hebrew Bible. He achieved the authority to rule because of his faithful obedience, and God vindicated him by raising him from the dead.

And not only did the Father resurrect him, but He also seated him “at His right hand” where he now reigns supreme over all things.

Two passages from the Psalms figure prominently in describing his present reign. The Psalmist foresaw the reign of the Messiah commencing upon his arrival before Yahweh and his enthronement, and this is how the New Testament interprets these prophecies.

(Psalm 2:4-8) – “He that is sitting in the heavens will laugh, My Lord will mock at them. Then will he speak to them in his anger, and in his wrath confound them. Yet I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain. Let me tell of a decree, Yahweh has said to me: You are My son. I, this day, have begotten you. Ask of me and let me give nations as your inheritance and as your possession the ends of the earth” – (Hebrews 1:1-14, Revelation 1:4-6, 12:1-5).

Psalms 110:1) - “The declaration of Yahweh to my Lord: Sit at my right hand until I make your foes your footstool.”

Jesus himself confirmed his status as the Messiah by alluding to this very Psalm in his testimony before the high priest, and he included a passage from the book of Daniel:

(Matthew 26:63-65) – “And the high priest said to him, I adjure you by the living God, tell us whether you are the Christ, the Son of God. Jesus said to him, You have said; nevertheless, I say to you, henceforth, you will see the SON OF MAN SITTING AT THE RIGHT HAND OF POWER, and COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN.”
