Been thinking about da character heights a lot lately!!
DAO
Alistair is 6’2*
Morrigan is 5’8*
Zevran is like 5’4 (short king I love him)
Leliana is around 5’5
I see Wynne being a little taller than Leliana, maybe 5’7
I think dwarves are technically 4’8-4’9 but honestly I see them being more in 4’4-4’6, so I could see Oghren being 4’6ish
Shale had to be scaled down in game so she could fit through doors— so I’d guess she’s around 7’6
I’d put Sten at around 6’7 (a good bit taller than Alistair but still shorter than Shale) (Qunari heights are weird lol)
*canon
Awakening/Witch Hunt
I see Anders as being very lanky/tall— so like 6’3?
Nathaniel is around 5’10
Sigrun is 4’4
Velanna is 4’11
Justice/Kristoff is 5’9
Finn is 5’8
Ariane is 5’4
DA2
I put M!Hawke at around 6’0’ and F!Hawke at like 5’10
Carver is 6’4 (I see him as like built but hella tall)
Bethany is 5’6
Varric is 4’5
Isabela is 5’5
I know they made Fenris bigger than most elf males but that also might’ve been just so he was taller than F!Hawke🤷🏽‍♀️, I’d put him at around 5’6
Sebastian is 5’8
Merrill is 5’2
Aveline is 5’9
Tallis is 5’4
DA:I
Solas is tall by elf and human standards- I put him around 5’9
Sera is also bigger than most elves, I’d put her at 5’5
Cassandra is about 6’1. I see her as being really tall
Blackwall is 5’10
Vivienne is 5’6 (5’8 in heels)
Dorian is 5’8
Iron Bull is probably 7’5-8’0, I think they had to scale him down ingame so it’s hard to tell for sure
Like Anders, I see Cole being really tall and skinny, maybe 6’3
Cullen is 6’1 (same height as cass hehe)
Josephine is 5’4

The funniest part about Oghren to me is that despite *gestures vaguely at All Of Him* that, he really does Whip Ass at killing Darkspawn.

31 Days of Dragon Age
Following along with this prompt list.
Oct 09: Favorite Awakenings companion
Gotta be my boy Anders. I enjoyed all the others well enough, but Anders stuck in my head through DA2 as well, so by virtue of getting to spend more time with him, he gave me so many more brainworms.
He's also just such a nice addition to the party and story of Awakening. Like, his entrance? 10/10 drama bitch. Then he's all airy humor - something my warden needed having had to leave Alistair behind on the throne - until you peek behind the facade a bit to get just a taste of the trauma that lies there. He's complex, he's got so much love in him he doesn't know what to do with it, and he brings a cat into the deep roads. Anders Dragon Age, ily, let's blow up a chantry or two together.

Been thinking about Awakening and Feril would have totally vented to Anders about mage freedom and shit, maybe even inspiring him.
"I would watch the world burn for a chance to live normally," is something she says and means it. Being tempted with it by demons, but she knows what they offer is fake hence why she can resist them easily. She's the Hero of Fereldan! Savior! Vanquisher of the Fifth Blight!
But people still hate her because she's a mage.
She wasn't supposed to survive. If she had died, maybe then people would have hailed her as a true hero.
But when she hears stories of the Hero of Fereldan, she wonders who they're talking about. People seem to ignore the fact that an elven mage saved them.
Even as temporary arlessa of Amranthine, there are still people who hate her solely for being a mage. She's in a position of power. But Feril doesn't even like using her magic. She specializes in healing, the most serviceable magic to mankind. And yet, she's still a monster to people.
And she tells Anders this. "Just remember one thing Anders: no matter what service you provide to mankind, they will always hate us."
I could go on more but I have to get out of bed.

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but it was never “Anders’ outfit.” It’s Generic Tevinter Robes #3 in Origins and it’s bad luck that Anders got stuck in it forever because of how he was introduced.
Giving Anders' outfit to the demon Imshael in DAI was such a low jab like what was even the point.

Dragon Age: Can You Fuck That Old Man?
Origins: No, the male LI's are distinctly not old men. Morrigan can bang a washed up war hero though.
3/10
DA2: Despite Fenris's appearance and general crotchety behavior, he is not an old man. Arguably Justice could be centuries old and sleeping with Anders may or may not be a threesome.
6/10 for ambiguity
Inquisition: Finally some options. Blackwall may be lying about who he is but he can't lie about the salt and pepper in his character portrait. Solas narrowly avoids the list because he is one of the oldest men in Thedas but he is too guilty to engaging in old man fucking.
8/10
Veilguard: This is it, friends. Do you have lingering feelings about the time you found out Christopher Lee knew what stabbing a man in the back sounded like? Do you know exactly what you think about Vincent Price? Is Gomez Adams the short king of your heart? Emmrich is here and you know what to do.
10/10

dragon age will always hold a fun spot in my heart and while inquisition is the weakest of the games it still gets a soft spot because it came out during my junior year, and during a field trip that only a few of us were selected to go on for a tech fair they had a inquistion play testing area and idk it sticks with ya

I have this wild theory as to where the Enmrich romance is going that makes me especially excited for his romance since it's something they've been teasing us with for three games.
So based on everything we know about Emmrich and his route based on the dev's own words + what's been written about him in the short stories, I think he's going to be a being like DAOA Justice, Cole, and Audric from the short story he's in, which is to say a fade spirit possessing the body of the former Emmrich Volkarin. However! I think this is an outcome the former Emmrich Volkarin ultimately wanted and prepared for. In his youth, he said he found the concept of being possessed by a spirit who was so influenced by your life that it continues on as you would have (in this case, a man who wanted to be with his wife whom he loved very much) romantic. So I don't think it was an evil lich scenario, but like...Emmrich wanted to spend eternity doing his little hobbies and making friends and stuff. I say this because up until the trailer, all the concept art we've seen of the companions has lined up exactly the same except one place: Emmrich. Up until the reveal, we were under the impression that we were getting some sort of shambling fade skeleton wizard companion. And looking back at the silhouette of the fade skeleton concept art, it lines up perfectly with Emmrich's silhouette. On top of that, the writers are talking about how emotional his romance is, on top of them assuring us that our choices *can* kill our companions and we will be kissing skeletons (but not Manfred). So yeah. Emmrich is already a skeleton. The man face is for our convenience. But he's a chill dude who just wants to do his little hobbies and be in love with his partner for eternity so it's goth and sweet too and we love it. Soapbox rant over.

Origins mages are nuts, and Awakening mages doubly so.
Part of it is that there's more spells a mage in Origins can equip at any given time than in either DA2 or DAI, but especially the quality of spells is just...
Maaaaan. From the simple Grease and Fireball to the almighty motherfuckers like Mana Clash (aka Origins' "Delete The Mage" Button), Crushing Prison, Time Spiral...
You could legitimately get away with having a Mage Bonanza team (Amell/Surana, Wynne, Morrigan, [a plus-one of your choice] for Origins; Amell/Surana, Anders, Velanna, [etc etc] for Awakening) and not only be perfectly fine gameplay-wise, but you'd probably trounce a good chunk of combat encounters. Only dwarves and genlocks might truly give you some trouble lategame due to their innate magic resistance.
you might still want a rogue in your party because Bards are legitimately bullshit and so are LOTD Scouts
I need someone else who's played all the Dragon Age games to give me a comparison to mage combat in Origins and 2 vs Veilguard. I don't remember what combat in Origins is like and I played a rogue in 2. Mages in Inquisition felt underpowered to me so Veilguard is a big upgrade. My first Rook was an ice mage and he felt pretty op at points
I just want to know which Dragon Age game has the strongest mages and I don't know if my friend is being biased or not when she says Origins mages are the most op
