Some of the Original Movies Disney+ & Hulu Removed are Available to Purchase Digitally

If you didn't know, earlier this year Disney+ & Hulu followed a trend of removing a bunch of originals from their services in a cost cutting measure. Since those were pieces of original content, you couldn't watch them anywhere else. But now 12 of the 15 movies they removed can be bought on digital storefronts like Amazon and Apple. Those movies are:

Cheaper by the Dozen (2022)

Clouds

Crater

Darby and the Dead

Flora and Ulysses

Hollywood Stargirl

The One and Only Ivan

The Princess

Rosaline

Stargirl

Trevor the Musical, Magic Camp, & Black Beauty (2020) are still unavailable.

When you buy a movie digitally, you don't technically own it. You own the right to stream that film as long as it is available on the platform you bought from. So if these are delisted from digital storefronts, you won't have access to them. UNLESS you download them. If you download a movie you've purchased (not rented) it stays downloaded even if the title is delisted. I had that happen with a movie I bought on iTunes but since I had it downloaded to an external hard drive, I could still watch it.

Physical media is always the best way to preserve media, but considering you couldn't watch these AT ALL and now you can this is definitely a win. And the more money these movies make on digital storefronts, the more its creators will make with residuals.

TL;DR - 12 movies Disney removed from streaming services can now be bought digitally and that's good.

She sees dead people...and this one is going to make her popular.

High school introvert Darby Harper can see dead people and uses her ability to counsel spirits who have unfinished business. When popular cheerleader Capri dies she “pleads” with Darby to convince her friends to have her “Sweet 17″ party anyway. In order to do so, Darby must reinvent herself.

Darby and the Dead stars Riele Downs (Darby), Auli’i Cravalho (Capri), Chosen Jacobs, Asher Angel, Wayne Knight, Derek Luke, and Tony Danza. Silas Howard directs.

20th Century Studios’ Darby and the Dead hits Hulu on December 2, 2022.

The one thing that gets me about Darby and the Dead, is that Darby should have the whole talking to ghost thing out in public on lock by now.

She should know how to do without seeming like a freak/weirdO. I feel like we only saw her talk on the phone while communicating with a ghost a few times but it should have been more and she should have had an ear peice.

She's been able to see them since she was a kid. That's plenty of time to learn how to do it in a more convenient secretive way.

It's frustrating that Capri never apologizes for bullying Darby for years.

And then after death, when Capri doesn't get her way, she uses her ghost telekinesis powers to push Darby around. The bathroom scene is particularly cruel.

Capri apologizes for trying to turn Darby into her near the end of the film, but then the writers imply Capri is in the right for that because she helped Darby "open up."

Darby and the Dead will be removed from Hulu on May 26. Please watch it while you still can!

Yall need to watch Darby and The Dead

You know how in these movies there's always a makeover scene? Well Darby starts off with straight hair and through her makeover goes NATURAL!!! I've never seen that before in a teenager movie in my life! I honestly cried. To see a teen Black girl with powers embrace her natural hair?!?!? Yall need to see this.

Darby and the Dead 9/10

This movie was everything I wanted. Bringing back the vibe of 90s teen movies.

Riele downs better be the leading actress for these supernatural films! I NEED MORE!!!!

Darby was such a great main character. She was quirky and funny. If this movie came out a decade ago I feel like it would have been a classic but I'm making it one now. The outfits she wore in this movie was amazing.

I liked how sweet and understanding her dad was.

Darby and Alex were so adorable together. I love them!

The fact that Alex could also see ghosts was pretty shocking. I actually didn't see that coming.

I wanted to see more of Darby and Capri's friendship more. They had great onscreen presence together. I kinda wish it was a tv show so I could see even more.

I'm curious if we get another movie if other people who had near death experiences can see ghosts? I kinda just want it to be Darby and Alex making it something special just between them.

I'm glad alex could see ghosts making Darby feel less alone. She pretended to hate high school but she really felt lonely and I'm glad that's changed for her character.

I wanted to see more of the dynamic between Capri and Piper, Taylor and Bree. The trio didn't seem affected by Capri's death despite being "friends".

The ending was so cute!!!

For those curious, this article lists all the shows and movies that will be pulled from Disney Plus and Hulu. Luckily for me, I only cared to see season 2 of The Mysterious Benedict Society on the list. I just finished it so I’m good.

All will be removed on May 26th. So you have about a week to get to watching if you want to see any of these before they are gone.
