Chara Week Day 5: Ghost

Every time I see that machine in the True Lab, I wonder if it could possibly be Chara's soul in there? Probably unlikely, but not impossible... It's interesting to think about what the implications of that would be.

Yuka Kitamura

KITAMURA MY GIRL!!!! She is leaving Fromsoftware ;-;

This is so sad for me, but also…I’m so happy that she is able to be a freelance composer now! Optimistically, this may mean that she is confidently able to support herself and able to choose the more independent route. So, while I am going to miss seeing her name under their games so much, I am totally rooting for her! It really is the end of an era for FromSoft, but then again…Elden Ring does seem to be the crown jewel of their Soulsborne streak, and they’ll likely move onto different styles now. (I just hope that Kitamura was able to write a few songs for the Elden Ring DLC as her final FromSoft works!!)

So, guys let’s support her now and follow her SoundCloud and whatever else she does, because this lady has been such an iconic Soulsborne composer for so long now. 12 years of her incredible music! I am so proud and I really hope to start seeing her name in more places now!

Soulsborne co-op is such a weirdly melancholic experience sometimes

Like, sometimes you find some rando you just vibe with, or who's rocking a build that compliments yours, is fun and goofy, maybe their character's got a Character Creator Abomination face that makes you laugh, or is just really fun to play with, but like, the second they die or you accidentally jostle your ethernet cable and DC, you just never know if you'll see them again

Like, sometimes hope's restored after they die and they summon you again and then it's like "Holy shit! They liked me enough to summon me twice!" and that's even better! You found the Cool Guy and they liked you and still wanna keep playing the game with you! And you're a socially maladjusted pack animal so that floods your brain with serotonin and that's rad! The two of you struggle, fight, overcome, and eventually build up to a climactic victory fighting the boss of the area, and that's so much fun! Like a little self-contained adventure story, just the two of you

But then after that you just like

You realize you may actually literally never see this person again, this person who's been your companion on this mini-adventure, who's had your back, who you've laughed with and fought beside. Brief as they were, they were good times had between the two of you, and you have to take a second to realize that may have been the only time the two of you will ever meet, like ships passing in the night

Dark Matter is a very lonely person... When he saw Dream Land, a place where everyone is friends, he became jealous. He's unable to say 'be my friend.'

...But you don't always need to say it to be heard...

Kirby of the Stars is rather new to the whole hero business, but he has saved the day twice now at least. Kirby knows that when you do bad, you have to be stopped. But he also knows that sometimes, you can do the wrong thing while still being a good person inside...

Villainy and friendship are not mutually exclusive to Kirby.

And he can always sense when you're hurting...

[Bonus First Draft]

Noir's "bad deal" imprisonment to Dark Matter during their talk was initially gonna be more of a metaphohrical one. I'd wanted to draw it as if he were literally shackled TO the Dark Matter Blade (:metaphor:) or as if the blade was what was trapping him there.

However, my snarky brain coulnd't stop asking, "Why doesn't Kirby just, like, break the chains and free him then? XD" thus I settled on the idea above of Noir only briefly emerging partway from the darkness before he is swallowed up by it once more.
