These are some facts and curiosities about the 2nd SS Pazer Division ''Das Reich''

It was an elite division of the Waffen-SS of Nazi Germany during World War II, formed from the SS-Verfügungstruppe (SS-VT) regiments.

 The division served during the invasion of France and took part in several major battles on the Eastern Front, including in the Battle of Prokhorovka against the 5th Guards Tank Army at the Battle of Kursk.

In April 1944 Das Reich established a new base near the town of Montauban in southern France. The location was chosen so that the division could respond quickly to the planned Allied invasion of France on the Atlantic coast or the Mediterranean Sea.

As a consequence of the sabotage of the rail cars, Das Reich left Montauban on 8 June with 1,400 vehicles and proceeded northward by road. Travel by road caused the steel tracks of the tanks and assault guns to wear out; vehicles broke down frequently; and fuel was in short supply.

During the invasion of Yugoslavia in April 1941, members of the division committed crimes against the civilian population and Yugoslav prisoners of war in the Alibunar area (Vojvodina, Serbia), where approximately 200 people were killed.

The division massacred 642 French civilians in the village of Oradour-sur-Glane on 10 June 1944, in the Limousin region.

Following the war, one of the regimental commanders of the division, Otto Weidinger, wrote an apologia of the division under the auspices of HIAG, the historical negationist organization and a lobby group of former Waffen-SS members.

The newspaper of the same name ''Das Reich'' was a Nazi weekly.

These are some facts and curiosities about Das Reich, a weekly newspaper from the Nazi period:

It was a weekly newspaper founded by Joseph Goebbels, propaganda minister of Nazi Germany, in May 1940.

Its circulation grew from 500,000 copies in October 1940 to over 1,400,000 in 1944

The newspaper contained news, essays on various topics, book reviews and an editorial written by Goebbels.

Among other topics, it covered Stalingrad's uncertain casualty lists, distinguished between German and Allied invasions to suggest that the latter would not have succeeded, discussed the bombing and the V-1, deplored American culture, portrayed American morale as poor and finally declared that Berlin would fight to the end.

His last article from April 1945 urged people to resist their last breath.

Aka ich hatte 2 Nervenzusammenbrüche die letzten zwei Tage, immer wieder geheult, und 1,5 Stunden alles im Garten kurz und klein gehauen, weil das gut tut. Läuft bei mir.

Kennt ihr bestimmt, wenn die Leute sagen, es kommen auch wieder bessere Zeiten? Bei mir ist es seit Jahren so, dass sie von sehr schlimmen Zeiten zu nur schlimmen oder mittel-schlimmen Zeiten sich wandeln. Ich warte schon sehr lange auf diese sogenannten guten Zeiten 😳

Wo ist diese better life GmbH wenn man sie braucht 🙄😕

(und das Schlimmste ist auch noch, das große Teile meiner eigenen Misere hausgemacht sind aufgrund gutgläubiger Entscheidungen...)

Also wenn irgendjemand die Woche das letzte Kapitel von Showdown am Ilmensee sehen will, möge er die Hand heben. Es ist nämlich fast fertig, und dann krame ich die benötigten 5% Energie dafür noch zusammen.
