As a robot, I think it would be incredibly hot if, when trashed into pieces, for my parts to be repurposed into tools for making me again. Something about using your own bones and flesh to mend yourself from the outside.
Or like, if your old parts were repurposed into other components of your environment. "Yeah, the terminal is repurposed from my old motherboard" or "this impact driver's motor was taken from my old arm" or "this microwave is built into the chest cavity component from my old body".
That would be so fucking cool and hot.

Not sure about unique but it does seem uncommon: my Plateosaurus theriotype!
Plateosaurus was one of the earliest known true dinosaurs, appearing in the fossil record about 200 million years ago in the early Triassic period. They're classified as "Prosauropods" and as the earliest form of later Sauropodomorph dinosaurs. The thing that distinguishes them from later Sauropods is the fact that they were bipedal. Early reconstructions placed them in a quadrupedal posture which is how they got their name (Plateosaurus means "flat lizard" or "broad lizard"). Later examinations of their bone structure and attach points for musculature revealed that they actually were not physically capable of locomotion in a quadrupedal position and trying to do so would actually have broken their forearms due to the forces involved.
Plateosaurus was essentially the giraffe of its time with its long neck and bipedal stance allowing it to graze much higher up than any other herbivores of the time. Which was handy because the trees known to exist at the time were VERY TALL (an early form of Redwood trees, for one, in fact).
My theriotype is a past life, and while I don't know nearly as much about him as I do about my dragon past life I do know a few details. He was the leader of a small herd and his primary duty as leader was to protect the rest of the herd. For the most part this was protecting the young, as Plateosaurus was too large to generally be bothered by the predators of the time (sort of like modern-day elephants actually) once they reached maturity. The young, however, were at risk.
I also remember that my herd slept in a circle with our necks draped across the hindquarters of the individual in front of us. We did lay down to sleep, and essentially used each other as pillows. The other benefit of this is that our young could sleep inside the circle and be protected by the bodies of the adults, basically a safety fence.
I was greyish-blue in color with vertical stripes of a paler color at intervals down my neck, back, and tail. Most of my herd was of similar coloration, with a few variations and exceptions.
Since Plateosaurus fed on the leaves and bark of ancient redwood trees, I sometimes will collect some young leaves and some bark off fallen branches from my family's California redwood (a direct descendant from those ancient trees!) and make a tea with them. It tastes like 200 million years ago and an ancient family I was once the patriarch of.
i want to hear about ur guys’ uncommon or unique theriotypes,, i love hearing about the ones i dont see very often or ever
i think my most uncommon one is that i’m a lizard cladotherian :3

Consider: Nereus popping up in different Worlds, showing up at seaside research stations and hanging out long enough to have a local technician recieve a datadump on what it's learned of that world's oceans, then fucking off for 20 years or so (long enough to be Just A Rumor if not for the obvious recorded proof and data dumps) before showing up with more Cool Fish Facts (also, god. I just made myself sad about it meeting Herself from subnautica and then coming back 20 years later to find Her after the game's story... )
Aughghghgh god that would honestly be the vibe, nereus just comes and goes while transmitting data and comes back to the labs for maintenance and upkeep whenever it's recalled or every set period of time
Also god that would be SO SAD......................

Cosmic distant futureworld meta-setting
For the videodrome manifesto and other virtualized manifestation explorations; Definitely part of the 16^12 paracosm itself.
Tumblr media
At the later end of times they stood intently, browsing through memories of untold trillions of lives under their supervision. Likewise to the concept of gods before them, they regulate the headspace of so many sophont constructs seeking in larger meanings. Essentially serving as one such hypervisor, Mal Grand-Ours Blackhand is amongst such realmscape curators in the hypervisors committee, serving the planet history division of Angora. But soon they would be outdone by one other GitWorld hypervisor, Tano Petit-Ours Booksword. And sooner than expected, they will relinquish control of such to hers.
The whole story of that coming about soon. But first some sketches and information datadumps of mine to contextualize it some. (No, it is NOT a NOVAverse thing I swear, I came up with the idea before that got its first release. Haven't tried yet, but it is likely very fun to play. )
Tumblr media
I would like you to imagine various sophont clades, mostly themed around species from the invertebrate realms (arthropods, spiders, moths, bees, wasps...) lingering on at the later edge of time. What do you observe? I exaggerate the concept of it to cartoon levels, but that is expected of such a pitch black setting (not in the themes / tones, but in the luminosity present around then). Especially that time travel / tourism? is a factor too around that time.
So yeah, the way I envision the 16^12 paracosm itself is likewise to a mega-campaign with modded Civilization 5 & Stellaris. Which means it is a simulated reality with several (onion / nesting) layers that interact with each other, albeit I chose a bright, warm yet grounded tone for such setting. Tron, The Matrix, A Mind Forever Voyaging... and many other sources guide my steps as well.
So yeah, the coming Odysee livestreams will have a unique feel to them, and I am still working on its responsive assets (overarching "desktop organizer" compute theme), contributor mechanisms and overall systemic functionality (dedicated fantasy filesystem / file-server tracked by some Version Control software) to really drive my optimism take home.
A little preview of it up ahead:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Will upload paper hand-drawn design sketches somewhen once they are... done (idk, causality can get messy and complicated on my end):
----
Got inspired some by the Arthur Isaac distant future series, as well as "Halo 2 Arbiter" arc and the "0x10c" game premise, but also by ideas emerging by my headspace since the later 2000s.

I'm working on a couple different games, all at various levels of progress. My audience is honestly pretty eclectic, I follow what ideas sound neat to me, and hope people enjoy the mechanical and/or narrative experiences I make!
The Creature And Their Hunter : This one is like 95% complete, just needs more balance testing. Its a 2 player asymmetric tactics game where individual runs are short and you get metacurrencies to buy new abilities! Inspired a bit by battleship and minesweeper. A futuristic mercenary has accepted the job to bring back a live sample of a mysterious lethal alien creature, has a cat and mouse dynamic which shifts as abilities are acquired!
We Live Such Pleasant Lives : A petty pvp game about being in an ultra grim cyberpunk future where everyone barely resembles humans anymore, fighting over tiny scraps of humanity. Still in the notes phase. Still very much in the notes phase, might even be turned into a setting doc, not sure yet.
Hair Dye Not Included : A singleplayer game about fleshing out a day in the life of your OC or ttrpg character, with lots of questions and prompts for elaborating what they get up to when they are taking a day off from the action.
Wary Is The King In The Dark : A singleplayer dungeoncrawler where you assemble the dungeon from cards, which create stacks of encounters rolled on dice. You are a king and his entourage trying to gain money and renown in order to prop up your failing government and stave off revolution. Progress is gonna be slow due to how many different events/encounters I'll need to write up.
Against The Edge Of Your Knife (title pending) : This gonna be for the tittyRPG game jam, is sort of a blend between sadomasochism and actual toxicity, as two players create a humanoid figure with cards, which give prompts for knifeplay, violence, abuse, and crossed boundaries. Still planning this, but very excited for it!
In the name of my sisyphean struggle to connect with more rpg designers:
What are you working on? What kind of table is your audience?

Really happy with how my entry for the Faggot Game Jam is come along! The premise is that you are a robot falling in love with a megastructure, and the game progresses by you rolling a die and visiting places in the structure, with new writing prompts each time you revisit somewhere!
The questions for #3 of this set are some of my favorite game writing I've done so far!
The game is titled "For Steel You Are", keep an eye out for it!

plaintext version below the cut!
Cylindrical shafts run up and down, their span vast and their heights dizzying. Walkways, pipes, and machinery reach across them, colliding in the center in explosions of technological density. At the core of each of these nests lies a tiny sun, glowing bright in incandescent fire. Their surfaces writhe and pulse, sending out flares of plasma when pierced by shocks of lightning hurtling from the chamber’s sides. The Structure has even domesticated the stars…
These entire shafts radiate power and send shivers through your circuits. Your sensors are barely able to help you navigate them, flooded with EM shadows and heat distortions. You are nearly hit by a bolt of lightning as you attempt to approach the nest built around one of the miniature stars. You retreat back to a safe distance and run a full diagnostic. - How did it feel to have the sudden surge of electricity wash over your circuits? - What software or mechanical glitches do you experience from this narrow miss? - Why do these excite you?
Finding a proper access ‘corridor’ through the pulses of lightning, you are finally able to reach one of the nests, and behold one of the miniature stars up close. They are magnificent, gold and orange and bright in their luminescence. You can’t help but bask in its glow as you sweep your sensors over everything in reach, no longer stymied by distance or disruptions. - Why does the warmth of the miniature sun feel so comforting and inviting? - Why is it so captivating to behold; why do you keep staring into the sun? - Why does this technology look and work so differently than that in the rest of the Structure?
You’ve spent enough time analyzing the power flow and the discharge rates, cross-referencing the fuel supply rates, and they all bring you to a terrible conclusion: the Structure is dying. It is a slow death, one that will last tens of thousands of years, an inevitable march towards a finite end. It is a sad and somber realization that even something as magnificent and all-encompassing as the Structure will end someday. - Why is there no beauty in the temporary? - Do you want to live forever?
You realize that the only thing you can do, the only thing that your lowly self can do to help prolong the magnificence of the Structure is to throw yourself into one of the burning stars and give yourself up as fuel. You know your miniscule mass will not even add a measurable amount of operational time, but know you need to do this, you must. - What sensations do you feel as you tumble down into the cascades of lightning and fire? - Is this pain you feel? Why do you enjoy it? - What final thought passes through your circuits as you are burned into a fine plasma?

I'd say that the games that most match the sort of vibe of things called walking sims are any games where the main (or only) mechanical system is some sort of random generator (dice, cards, slips drawn from a hat, etc) which specifically define events that occur for you to react to. In my mind, this is something specifically for journaling games, but I could be persuaded for that to be applied more boradly (although not too broadly, of course. Random event tables in your prefered fantasy combat game are not the mechanical focal point). I'd also posit that they probably should be something that occurs to you as you go from A to B, but again, could be persuaded into being more broad than that.
Several games I am making and have made definitely meet at least some of these (with one in particular meeting all of them).
What does a TTRPG “walking sim” look like?

Like Pastel Fractal, ȺƉǤ has and always will offer explosive performance that's engaging, participatory, and implicating, BUT "fDj ȺƉǤ" was hooked on dumping Chicagoans' research data on floppy disks. (46% of researchers are inactive and hooked on dumping data which results in obsolete data and bodies.) BUT NOW, "data_Dj ȺƉǤ" is cleaned up and reawakened with new lifestyle and tech HACKS. SO LET'S GET MORE HACKtive IN THE COMMUNITY! This is the first episode of "Hackin' with ȺƉǤ" and it features local community hacker Matt Churney at Flow Hack Falls which is behind The Kombucha Club in Chicago, IL. After upgrading the Fracbook Pro which no longers supports floppy disks, "data_DISK jockey ȺƉǤ" now vows to better serve the community and offers HACKtive lifestyle opportunities as part of a pledge to keep your data and your bodies from going obsolete. Why are you sure the ST will respect Lucas' ideas on the Force? If TLJ has some big reveal isn't it likelier that it will go against?
Ooooh boy. That. For context: I’m writing a meaty follow-up to my already meaty but incomplete History of the Whills. At this point I’m pretty sure I’ll not finish before TLJ, because… there’s going to be Force stuff, even if not the actual Whills, so finishing before TLJ just means setting myself up for another rewrite.
So fuck not spoiling my own meta, here’s why I’m pretty sure TLJ and the rest of the ST will respect Lucas’ view of the Force. This is a big fat mess of data and a lot of speculation, and i recommend reading [this] before because it’s essential background. Kind of.
LF is positioning itself as custodian as much as heir of Lucas’ vision; the NEU is built around his SW. I’m not bothering to try and prove that one.
The “Lucas material” includes notes none of us will see ever, all the stuff he’s revealed to only a few, all the stuff that’s not made it yet to the NEU. An (incomplete) anthology, from the Canonpocalypse to today.
his Darth Bane (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6)
his Journal of the Whills (1) (2, this one mentions the TFA novelization quote being all ADF) (3) (4)
his version of Force ghosts (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6)
his Church of the Force (1, starts 23:55)
his Sith history (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) (7)
his lightsabers & crystals (1)
his view of the Jedi (1A, 1B, 1C, 1D - including a good nail for the coffin I’m building: “Q: Let me ask though..is everything you describe invented by Lucas or the Story Group after he left. Just curious if that’s how / PH: It’s taking his ideas. He went really deep during Clone Wars”) (2, Star Wars could have been Space Cops guys)
his Ashla and Bogan (1)
his Shaman of the Whills (1)
his Not-Son of the Suns (1)
Academy Just Isn’t George (1)
Hey About The Light Side… (1)
Forget About The Kryptonite (1)
Anyway, I kept to Force related stuff because that’s what i keep tabs on, but it’s a generalized pattern.
Going back to that bolded question above - how did Lucas go “deep” in TCW re: the Force stuff?
New traditions expanding the scope beyond Jedi and Sith
The Nightsisters
The Dagoyan Order & the Frangawl Cult
The Church of the Force, as seen above
The Force Priestesses of Great Mystery
Mythology-heavy arcs
Mortis (1) (2) (3) (4)
Yoda’s encounter with the Force Priestesses (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) (7)
That impetus started by Lucas, exploring the Force beyond Jedi and Sith is clearly something that’s been kept going.
Like I am not listing all the new (or recycled from Legends) Force traditions in the NEU but trust me when I say the rate of development of Force lore in the NEU is impressive.
And that it’s making Points about the Force
Here it’s worth noting R1 was the biggest update, and 1) it was built on Lucas’ Whills, 2) Hidalgo and more generally the SG was involved in the movie, 3) he wrote the VD and 90% of what we do know of the Guardians/Disciples etc.
Which brings me to TLJ! And its Force mysteries.
Well I’m pretty sure a huge part of Hidalgo/the SG’s involvement in TLJ has to do with Force stuff.
I totally have a precedent for that, thanks to Rogue One’s Jedha and its Guardians and Disciples of the Whills. I didn’t mention Hidalgo’s involvement for nothing - it’s kept vague but there’s a bunch of hints that it started out as a much plainer pilgrimage city in one of/the Chris Weisz screenplay (first called Mimban/Circapous V with the temple being the Temple of Pomojema, a Legends setting notable for featuring a giant kyber crystal), and then…
Well as far as I figure, some clever little shit thought tackling the Whills mythos on the pilgrimage city was a great idea
youtube
So we’re not done with the Whills stuff. Not with Jedha either (i’m getting lazy with the links but those exist - it won’t make it to Rebels as per Filoni and Gareth Edwards pretty much said LF and the SG was keeping the backstory to develop themselves.
I’m speculating when I say the SG/Hidalgo’s work on TLJ (1, mostly for the cute tbh) has probably a lot to do with the Force stuff. But I’m pretty sure.
And: it’s totally possible to both respect Lucas’ ideas and have a big fat reveal because
a) most of the audience doesn’t know how “deep” Lucas went. I mean, most people still think Force Ghosting is a Jedi ability (it really isn’t).
b) one of the best bit about the way the Force lore is being developed is that we’re repeatedly being reminded that the Jedi didn’t know everything and could even (gasp!) be wrong about shit - and that opens a door to weird unexpected new lore.
yeah okay let’s finish with a picture of me at work:

I'm honestly not too sure, I know it happened some time after finding e621 and furaffinity. There was a long phase of "I'm not really a furry, but their stuff scratches the interests I have", and then I eventually came to my senses and realized I was a furry. Much later I realized my robogender identity, and things make sense (robots fall under the furry umbrella).
what made you a furry?

*mumbles* so this is several days late, but... Mistlefoe™ instead of Mistletoe™? here is a little short snippet about neon souls edgejeanist talking about this
--
“Okay,” Shinya says. “Hear me out.”
“I see you and I already have the urge to not hear you out.” He eyes the mistletoe. “Is this about that christmas thing I told you about a few days ago?” Tsunagu has a sudden thought. “Wait. Is this about the santa stalker mythological figure? Because I’ve told you, Shinya, he’s-”
A hand covers his mouth. It’s Shinya’s. “Sorry, Tsunagu,” he says, not apologetic in the least. “I love when you ramble. It’s one of my favorite things. But!” He raises his other hand high, a holographic recreation of mistletoe spinning around slowly in it. “Look at this.”
Tsunagu takes the chance to kiss Shinya on the cheek. “As per tradition.” He smiles at Shinya’s little blush. Then looks at the mistletoe. It’s… normal. Plant. “I don’t see what I think you want me to see here.”
“So you know the tradition -we both know the kissing tradition- about this plant. And, well, the other day there was a Skyrace, and I got stabbed-”
“I remember.” Tsunagu grimaces. It had been… bad. There’d been a cheater, even with the non-existent rules that they ran with, and the Soulmaster had had her executed (one of the only things he was glad about, in the past three days). Slowly.
…She also might be a Soulless now, but he tried not to think about it too much, because if he did, there was a chance that Tsunagu would just start crying and that wouldn’t do anyone any good. Besides. Shinya was fine now. He’s cut off from his thoughts by Shinya flicking him on the cheek.
“Don’t look so sad, take your thinking face off, Tsunagu. Anyways. So I was on those good painkillers, and a thought occurred to me.” Shinya flicks, and the hologram obligingly zooms away, and a datadump is sent to Tsunagu’s chat. “Mistlefoe. You punch whoever’s under it instead of kissing them.”
He blinks, opening the chat and downloading the datadump, which is a word document. “...Shinya, this is voice-to-text you rambling about ten different things at once.” Tsunagu scrolls down. Oh, there it was- um. He squints. “This is in binary.”
“Yes?”
“I can’t read binary, love.” Shinya rolls his eyes.
“Learn it.”
--
fun fact: i, too, cannot read binary. :D
-story anon
MISTLEFOE!!!
Of course Shinya would get excited over the concept of fighting someone under Mistletoe-
Tsunagu can't read binary smh /lh
