Hey folks I know I’m not on this site much beyond reblogging fandom stuff (cause, you know, the Horrors) but I just wanted to say that a: started a D&D campaign about killing deities, b: i recently got into graduate school, c: I’m feeling genuinely extremely good about my life and my future plans, d: I came out to my sister as a system which is not something I ever expected to do, and e: a twine game I made is getting exhibited in a gallery during a symposium of student works at my college.

I’m still working my ass off, and now it’s really like years and years of hard work are finally paying the fuck off every day EVERY day.

I'm going to see if I can find it, but I'm remembering this excerpt from one of the Dri.zzt books a conversation between Y.vonnell II and her mother something along the lines of "what do you wish?" "Love me" and I just..... Yeah. Definite Mourndax vibes that evolved into ungodly hatred.

Which is fair when one of their big vibes towards him is and has always been "[reacting to a crying child] Oh, that's an ugly noise, son... Here, why don't you cease your bitch crying?" But uh.... There's still always something to be said when you fully know that they gave you the bare minimum even by your cultural standards, and even then only tolerated you just in case the rest of your siblings died and you were all they had left. ( A likely outcome, by the way; I imagine there's a tavern song local to Gaelthemar that originates from House Maeafin that's similar in tone to this. Something about hunting deadly creatures and individuals does that. )

That said I would also like to sidebar and mention that Daxie at least had Kophyn, his older brother. Like they're still brothers and will verbally and playfully jab at each other, but Kophyn would at least try to help Mourndax mask around the family better or else actually stand up for the poor kid.

Attor clapped him on the back, "If that is what you think." If Mourndax thought his dishonesty was his saving grace, who was he to deny him that? The blood pounding a warsong in his head was making him ill. He had resisted too long. No. No. Not now. Not now. The hand that had pat him grabbed Mourndax by the back of the neck, claws biting into soft skin. The once gentle, coal-black eyes of the dragonborn teared with blood. "And what will you do when your lies crumble? Where will you go when all your bridges are burned, little drow? Will you scamper-crawl back to your spiderwhore goddess? Back into the dark?" Bared teeth. "And what lies have you told me?"

Bought a box of cheese balls on my trip to Daxi Old Street yesterday. I heard that the most famous one is actually from Shingfang pastry, but still these are pretty good. A solid 8/10 would recommend.

That moment when you realize that Mourndax is so flippant about everything bc ofc he is. Man's barely had any agency in his life under his parents' control, and he's less than five years removed from that. He hasn't exactly had time to learn how to make decisions of his own, and acting like you don't give a shit what the outcome is, or that you've simply changed your mind about it for no particular reason is a lot easier than admitting to still remembering how much the leash hurt when pulled on.
