As if the gods were not already frowning upon him enough! Huaisang wants his father and brother?! How can he even begin to tell the child they’re not alive, that it’s his fault, and that he’s not even meant to be a child right now?!

(This isn’t even to get into the fact that the child is naked for the world to see!)

What cruelties fate leaves in-store for we who would do wrong! He thinks to himself, allowing himself a very brief moment of self-pity. Perhaps this is the way he can say he’d brought this upon himself, given everything. It was certainly a much more lenient punishment then he’d ever dared imagine!

“Huai—ah, A-Sang, don’t worry!” He scrambles for his words, equally scrambling to pick the child up and hold him to his chest. He may not have been the best father, but he had been one before! He’d even been a single father, something very unusual for one such as himself, so he knows some in’s and out’s to these things. If only he had an outer robe, perhaps he could place it around him, but for now all he can do is hold the small Huaisang, bounce him gently, and wipe his tears away with a sleeve.

“There’s no need to worry,” he tries to calm himself down, now, Ruohan does, though it’s quite apparent that he’s still not at his best himself. The situation would frazzle even the best cultivators, surely!

“Your Han-shushu is here; yes, this isn’t Qishan, but it is Han-shushu’s home, now. You’re... You will be safe here.”

If whatever is afflicting the young man—boy?—wears off, the both of them are in for Hell (Ruohan out of embarrassment, and Huaisang out of it and rage), but won’t it be alright, for now, for him to act as if there’s very little wrong? He at least hopes it’ll make the boy stop crying.

Still, he reaches out with his cultivation at the same time, trying to get to the bottom of this mess. What could have happened to the young Sect Leader?

[So...........considering how much they redo oot beat by beat almost in totk for the past bits.......is Nabooru (or this timeline's/au's version) the Sage of Lightning?

I mean, think about it. In both games, she turns against Ganondorf and even seems to take it a step further in totk with potentially turning the Gerudo as a whole against him (at least I imagined the Sage of Lightning had a hand in exposing him....then again, totk seemed keen on Ganondorf being evil to the core with no other motivation (as in, he didnt give a shit about his people either which grinds my gears), and they wanted the Gerudo to appear as stauch allies to Hyrule, so maybe most of the Gerudo never liked him, but that's not as interesting and I'm going to keep my political intrigue ideas so sh). Urbosa mentions her by name, and if this era is disconnected from the other games (which doesn't fully make sense since Zelda mentions the past heroes, but I'll play their game for now since it's apparently official these two games are their own tineline/AU), then she either wouldn't exist in this Hyrule or was simply a different incarnation (which would be the same for Ruto, who is also mentioned by name). So that means the latter must be true, and with the parallels with OoT going on, now I really AM wondering the original Sage of Lightning WAS this era's Nabooru.

I had toyed with the idea before, but without any solid say so that the games were in fact not part of the original timeline, I didn't want to commit to anything. So, maybe that will just be my angle for the Wilds era now. 🤔 With my own tweaks of course.]
