As time goes on, many government officials at state and national levels are realizing that shutdowns must end.

Rising Social Unrest Towards Government-Mandated Lockdowns

As a nation, we can’t go on like this; over the past three weeks, at least 17 million Americans lost their jobs. Businesses that have managed to survive are barely hanging on by a thread and every day that our economy remains closed is another day of joblessness and increased unrest, despair, and turmoil.

Americans are beginning to take to the streets and urge an end to stay home mandates. Multiple protests in Ohio have taken place; meanwhile, Michiganders and North Carolinians are also planning to protest their states’ shelter-in-place/stay-at-home orders. People are ready to get back to work and their businesses.

The reality here is that coronavirus has an extremely high recovery rate of over 90%. Furthermore, 80% of all cases are mild; this means that individuals who do contract this virus are statistically unlikely to die from it or experience serious symptoms.

Moves to Reopen the Economy

Yesterday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott sat down for an interview with Fox News. During this time, the Republican governor noted the imperative need for Americans to return to work.

While speaking with Sean Hannity, Abbott explained that Texans love working and are “dying” to return to their jobs and businesses. Likewise, the Texas governor also affirmed that work with “medical experts and business leaders” is underway to determine the safest ways of reopening the state’s economy.

Later in Abbott’s interview, he shared some optimistic news. Apparently, certain businesses in Texas have remained open during the simultaneous fight against COVID-19. The Texas governor pointed this out before affirming that most states in America can reopen well ahead of May 1, 2020.
