I’ve been running @pirellimoto #SC3’s Slicks on my Marchesini Rims ever since I went with 17”s. Only because at the shop When we got the rims on my bike, all we had were some shitty sportbike take off tires.. I threw those on and then had the @pirelli’s put on at the track and ran them ever since.. • • I have nothing bad to say about the @pirellimotousa Race Slicks, I never once had a doubt of the tire hooking up or sliding out even on this heavy bike... Lit Review 3: Razzle Dazzle

Keeping up with the theme of camouflage I wanted to do a lit review on Razzle Dazzle (AKA Razzle Camouflage),  I think the best way to start is with its history.

Razzle Dazzle was first invented by Royal Navy volunteer reserve lieutenant Norman Wilkinson, a painter, graphic designer. Norman Wilkinson's radical but ingenious solution was instead of trying to camouflage the ships with the ocean, he would make them almost impossible to miss.

Norman Wilkinson’s patterns were almost always black and white, but always varied. I think there's an interesting concept to look at with Norman Wilkinson’s background in graphic design, that concept is the connection with his work and a strips project I did in year 1 of my BFA. 

Here are 2 of the strips projects outcome I made, and the bottom picture is the schematic plans by Norman Wilkinson.  When you look at the shapes made in the strips projects in comparison to the schematic plans by Norman Wilkinson, you can see a relationship in the direction of the shapes, most either being at 45 or 90 degree angles. 

I think its really interesting to look at other peoples adaptations of the Razzle Dazzle, a cool person version is made by Tauba Auerbach, she looks at the patterns used by Norman Wilkinson. She adapted them into crazy wake patterns, for fireboats.

I find it quite interesting that I can add examples of razzle dazzle to most lit reviews, I've come up with a new word that I'm going use as a over arching theme for my lit reviews. That theme is ‘Disruption Camouflage’, where the goal isn't to always hide but actually deceive, make the viewer not be lost in or hidden, just momentarily deceived.
