They're in on this movement, they're keeping up with our progress, they are seeing everything we're doing for this story and they're probably fighting like hell (in the ways they can) behind the scnenes, too.
There is hope. Do not let ANYONE tell you otherwise. I've been in fandoms for years and I've never seen this much outright support from a cast and crew of a canceled show. They want this just as much as we do.
Keep streaming, keep hyping this show up, keep promoting it. Tell everyone you know to watch it (even if they just put it on in the background if it isn't their thing).
This is the loveliest video I've seen , it shows just how many incredibly talented people had been involved in the production of this show, and the bond they all have after years of working together, I love it!
I got a cameo from George but I don't wanna post the video since there's some personal stuff from me in there, but I do want to transcribe his answers to my silly little questions, so here's that!
What do you think it would take/what would need to happen for Edwin to trust Crystal 100% like he does Charles? Is it even possible?
"Ummm... I don't know... I mean obviously she betrayed his trust in the pilot, but I think that absolutely was a forgivable offense. And it meant that we could make a TV show. I think he could, I think he could. Edwin is slowly learning to loosen sort of the grip he has on his emotional repression, and part of that is really learning how to let people in fully, fully (fully fully fully). I think there's definitely a kinship with Crystal, I think they're very similar. And the more he gets to know her, the more he'd absolutely learn to trust her. I mean, she's shown throughout the series that she'd go through great lengths to protect him, like in the season finale in Esther's house. So, yeah. She's put herself on the line, alot, poor Kassius, filming, [chuckle], there were so many stunts and all that stuff. So yeah, yes. I'm gonna say yes."
What about a hug from her that he would reciprocate?
"Hey, you never know! I don't think Edwin likes hugs, he doesn't like hugs. But you never know. And in fact, one of the deleted scenes from the pilot was outside Becky Aspen's house, and it was the original ending to episode one, and it was Crystal hugging Edwin, outside. But he did not reciprocate. My gosh, that would be a twist."
In the video, Revri and Rexstrew spotlight Episode 7, “The Case of the Very Long Stairway.” But there’s history leading up to that moment throughout Season 1. Specifically in Episode 6, “The Case of the Creeping Forest,” when Edwin changes his outfit for the first time — ghosts don’t really take the time to switch up their wardrobes in Dead Boy Detectives. He’s wearing a cozy green sweater and tells Charles that he has feelings for men. Charles puts both his hands on Edwin’s shoulders, facing him, as a sign of his unconditional love and support for Edwin’s sexuality. “For me, I always knew that Charles was the only one that can get through to Edwin through touch,” says Revri. “Edwin wouldn’t want anyone else to really touch him.”
It’s an important moment for their friendship, signifying that Edwin is starting to open up about his feelings and his attire reflects this. “To change Edwin is a big deal because Edwin doesn’t like change,” costume designer Kelli Dunsmore tells Tudum. “He had no collar. He had no bow tie.” Up until Episode 6, Edwin is always buttoned-up and closed off, protected in his tailor-made suit. “Hiding everything,” says Dunsmore.
It was Rexstrew’s pitch to have Edwin wear something different for that episode. “I just thought it could be an interesting way to get Charles’ attention,” says Rexstrew. “It’s like this really innocent and desperate little attempt.” In the scene, Revri chose to add in a line acknowledging the fashion statement. “It felt right for Charles to notice that Edwin dressed up nice,” he says.
But in Episode 7, Edwin specifically confesses his feelings for Charles, after his best mate descends to the depths of hell to save him. When the boys hug at the end of Episode 5, “The Case of the Two Dead Dragons,” the meaning of Charles’ touch changes for Edwin. “He starts to crave it,” says Rexstrew. “It’s been unlocked by the Cat King (Lukas Gage), and then Monty (Joshua Colley) is more of a teenage crush kind of connection. But it’s all leading up to this.”
While Charles can’t fully reciprocate Edwin’s feelings now, he completely embraces and accepts him. He’s Edwin’s first true love, and he doesn’t push it away. “You kind of leave it open,” says Rexstrew. “Definitely,” adds Revri. Together, they rehearsed over and over again in Rexstrew’s room before filming. They spoke a lot about levels, as Charles is physically higher up on the stairs and Edwin is below, which adds to the vulnerable nature of the scene. “We really wanted to make sure that it was perfect, right?” remembers Revri.
When filming came around, Revri was blown away by Rexstrew’s ability to bring out so much emotion after seemingly holding back in rehearsals. “Well, it was hard. It’s very difficult being in love with you. What can I say?” jokes Rexstrew. The scene also comes after Edwin finds his old bully Simon (Gabriel Drake), who was responsible for Edwin being sent to hell back in 1916. But he learns that Simon was also a closeted boy who was scared of his feelings. “Edwin realizes in that moment, ‘You can’t live your life with regret,’ ” says Rexstrew. “ ‘You can’t live your life not saying what you feel.’ ”
Both actors hope that fans find comfort in Edwin and Charles’ relationship as chosen family. “Even if you’re born into a scenario where those around you don’t accept you for who you are, there are people out there for you,” says Rexstrew.
Stream Dead Boy Detectives now, only on Netflix.
I finally have some free time so let's go with some lore from Jayden's stream! (This is not in any particular order).
“Timmy (Timothee Chalamet) really made it happen for us skinny blokes/boys (?).” not gonna comment on this lmao (does he knows what a twink is? cuz I'm sure Elise can tell him /j)
There was a discussion about which Disney character he would be, the chat was going back and forth between Ariel and Rapunzel. His sister (Elise) said he would be Simba, and he said he would be Aladdin.
He also said he auditioned for Aladdin (and he met Will Smith) years ago, and he mentioned he did an audition for Hamilton too.
He sang A Whole New World, rapped, and there was a long convo about Disney movies and shows.
He's 6'1, and doesn't understand why people says he looks tiny. Also, he added that George and him are around the same height.
His siblings and him do karaoke nights (that's cool for sure, Elise also has a beautiful voice and Riley, well, he has... energy).
He was so quiet at some point at the beginning of the live, that even Elise was wondering if he was okay (he was almost having an aneurysm and I can relate lol)
He said something between the lines of "method acting is me dying right now" (the drama), he probably believed the dead boy streamer thing for a sec (but he got better at the game, he really did) still I'm not over whoever put "Jayden is playing Minecraft rn" on the chat. Gosh, I was wheezing.
They're seven siblings (?) I don't know if that's including Jayden or no (and I'm not watching the stream again rn).
They had dance routines when they were children ♡ and did every thing that you could imagine a british kid would do growing up.
They wished happy birthday to someone and then tried to sing for them too :').
There was another convo about which animal every one of them would be, but I can really remember which one they chose :/
Jayden asked Riley, his younger brother, not to breath too loudly (that's oldest sibling rights ok).
At the end of the stream, he told us that he was going to take a break for a while, and that he was grateful for all the support, and to keep sharing/streaming the show ♡
