[I have no idea how to start this off so I'm just going to shitpost it, like a reasonable person. (I say this as if I am a reasonable person.) Not a callout post towards anyone specifically, but rather me musing on the general state of Tumblr, Discord, and the otherwise RPC. Other people w Batvillains: woobifies ofc, treats side AUs that were talked about once and never mentioned again as if they're the only canon that should exist [looking at you Scarecrow: Year One, as much as I nod to it as the most popular origin], flat-irons their flaws, says they shouldn't have complicated motivations or even complicated feelings about those motivations, so often does DC fandom have a complete black/white view of a character

Me, but w Jonathan Crane specifically: This is my garbage son, I made him out of trash. He's killed at least 2 people with his bare hands, hates almost everything that breathes and still kind of wants to eliminate all life, and his 1 remaining goal in life is to do it like they do on the Discovery Channel, be a half decent father to his kids unlike the father he never knew, and then die. His entire personality is basically one giant red flag and I like it that way. Still he's doggedly loyal and if you provide him with a reason you've got a meat shield for life. He's not perfect but he is fun and he's like 1 of 2 Scarecrows I've seen who's even made an effort to retire and stuck to his guns given that he had the job for like 40 years.]
