The cravat & lush hair Matthew Goode edition.
Matthew's l9ng graceful neck means he wears cravats beautifully. Add to that these gorgeous locks and brilliant acting for perfection.
I really like all these characters - Martin (sweet and hard done by), Colley (such a gent and kind-hearted), even Wickham (loveable rogue) but Doc Waller the slave owner (bottom right) is the most horrid of Matthew's baddies - he has no redeeming feature whatsoever, so don't be fooled by the goode looks!

Jenna Coleman wore exactly the same outfit in both Victoria, and Death Comes to Pemberley!

Hold me back, boys.
Yep - save us from Wicked Wickham's hotness.
Matthew Goode plays IS George Wickham in 'Death Comes to Pemberley. Best screen Wickham ever.
📷 BBC promos - I added in the wide shot for the last one to include James and Matthew. I LOVE that, according to Matthew Rhys, the two Matthew's tossed up for the roles of Darcy and Wickham - and Goodey won (he wanted Wickham)

Death Comes to Pemberley (2013)
This is not a Pride & Prejudice adaptation, but a sequel. I almost didn't rewatch buuuuuuut now I have to, to see if Darcy gets wet, so. Here we go!
(So far yes, one brief moment in the rain with a group of figures, one known to be Darcy, although it was not in any way a closeup. Still gonna count it though)
I didn't fall in love with this Darcy quite as violently (mostly because the narrative doesn't make me), but I do adore the very subtle physicality between Elizabeth and Darcy. In the beginning they have quiet touches and smiles and they clearly love each other, but as the conflict grows their pride comes through as their distance grows. (During an argument Darcy derides marriages made in sentimental haste, cries forever)
Plus we get adorable snapshot moments with their kid!
Essentially Wickham - who is not allowed at Pemberley - is delivering Lydia to the Darcy's in order to attend a holiday ball. On his way, he is found in the woods crying over Denny's body about how he's killed him. The story is unraveling what happened, as the trial unfolds.
I feel like the first time around I enjoyed the screen adaptation more than the book. It's been a while since I've read it but if I remember right the whole mystery was revealed at the end. This adaptation allows it to unfold bit by tantalizing tidbit.
If you love Colonel Fitzwilliam, I have some...bad news for you. He's a proud and somewhat selfish character (but fun fact, he's played by Tom Ward, who also briefly appeared as Lt Chamberlayne in the 1995 version!)
Also I lied, I adore Matthew Rhys as Darcy. Still haughty, still proud, but softened around the edges for a few years of happiness with Elizabeth. A man who feels deeply - displays moments of his restrained passion - but otherwise strives to reveal nothing.
(Restrained passion is my favorite okay it's what makes life worth living)

‘Death comes to pemberley’ is funny cos it’s like ‘what if we made a continuation fanfic of p&p but made it darker and edgier there is DEATH there is CONSPIRACY there is a SECRET BABY’ and half the cast of p&p isn’t even mentioned but it’s fronted by like. The best George Wickham on screen. And it’s weird but you’ll love it.

Heya! Have you ever watched Death Comes to Pemberley? I personally liked it because I love everything that comes from Austenverse as long as it's not too silly or ooc but I wonder what you think of it if you've watched it?
I'd like to say which part of the drama I love but I'm not sure if you've seen it
✌🏻
I have not. I did read the book and I found the conclusion of the mystery very unsatisfying so I wasn't excited to watch the series. I have heard that the series is better though.
Also, I don't mind spoilers; according to research they make you enjoy media more. I sometimes spoil myself if I get to worried about a favourite character.
