Before doing the illustrations for the FAHAH book I spent a lot of time staring at classical era ottoman costume ref (mainly contemporary miniatures/sketches and surviving textiles) to figure out Cemil's final outfit. I did take some significant liberties since after all it's a fantasy world and sometimes there just isn't any extant reference for specific pieces, but I feel like I learned a lot anyways~

YES. That girl can DANCE and she loves it!! I feel in the 19th and 20th century everyone could do a bit of social dancing because thats just what people did for fun. I think the Parkers and the Watsons both taught their kids to dance 'older' stuff they would have done when they were younger, like a solid waltz, quadrille, two-step, polka, what have you. MJ learned them all with fervor. Pete... learned some of them.

I think MJ and Pete would probably do (east coast) swing most often. Because they are hip and of the times. I think Pete probably would have had MJ and Robbie get to know each other through dance, actually. Like Robbie was around the welfare center when MJ was and Pete immediately was like Yes, now MJ can practice with him and not me (ultimate backfire because how he's got 2 partners)! Harlem is definitely the hot spot for swing, with black Americans engineering the whole thing. MJ was totally ecstatic to have a friend over there to run into who was a ready and willing partner!

I do have to say that MJ is a total back lead when it comes to Peter. They will ARGUE on the floor (in good fun). She'll be like 'do that one move I just taught you!' or 'If you fumble this texas tommy i'll kill you' or 'ok on this next backstep we're doing Charleston... aaand triple step, back step.' And Peter will snark back. Whenever she really wants to piss him off she'll make him practice Balboa (he thinks it looks stupid).

i'll start this with the caveat that my watching of campaign 3 is very tangential, largely through just seeing live blogs/tweets, gifsets, clips, etc. because i want to finish vox machina before jumping fully into bells hells. but i've still consumed a lot of it, especially post-laudna coming back (including full episdoes). and i just find it really interesting that the thing that seems to frustrate a lot of people about this campaign is exactly why i love it so much. i love that the bells are terrified and isolated from each other and so distrusting and that they feel like side characters being forced to save the world. i think it's a really nice change of pace after vox machina and mighty nein, two groups that mostly worked so cohesively and (especially with vm) were so clearly the main characters who were made to save the world. i love how much the bells have to scramble and how much they have to lose. also i just kinda fundamentally disagree that we haven't gotten enough time with the characters outside of Big Plot Things. firstly, a lot of those plot things are important for the characters and do inform a lot about them. but also, the entire first arc is pretty similar to c2 in that it's just them fucking around and getting to know each other. and there have been so many episodes and extended scenes since which have been so focused on the characters as opposed to the plot. i think it just doesn't feel that way because the bells are way worse at properly opening up to and trusting each other, which means they tend to go in circles.

iit's fine to not like campaign 3, this is just me talking about why i do like it, but i do think it's genuinely very dumb the amount of people i see who treat the players like they're stupid. watch some fucking 4 sided dive because they aren't making these frustrating choices accidentally. if i have to see one more person imply (or even outright state) that the players are just playing badly without any awareness that what they're doing will have consequences, i'll scream. don't think i've forgotten how you all treated laura like she was stupid during that big otohan fight or taliesin like he was ruining the whole game and their friendship with the shard.

I want to study social behaviors in sharks. :) I want to be out in the field of course but I ALSO dream about being that guy doing aquarium shows getting kids excited about animals and science.

to reiterate my previous tags. breen comes across to me as a coward that is backed into a corner and is trying to convince everyone, including himself, that this is for the better. if that falls through, he gives the appeasing almost-plea: it's safer this way. yes, he is harrowed that gordon freeman is loose and causing massive combine property damage & none of his efforts to stop that random physicist with a crowbar have done anything -- what breen brings up repeatedly in response to this is that these failures reflect poorly on him in the eyes of the combine and damage any goodwill he's carefully built with them. he is afraid for his own wellbeing, which he sees as tied to the wellbeing of the combine's control over earth. so he enforces the latter, and then makes broadcasts waxing poetic about how it's actually the noble cause for him to be doing so. look at the plea he has making to end the 7 hour war, at the cost of humanitys freedom -- now look at mossman making her desperate bid to save eli vance, at the cost of the resistance:

breen was probably able to sway mossman so easily because their mindsets about this are so SIMILAR. the following are unused / cut lines, so don't take it as hard evidence, but here is her essentially parroting what breen has been saying, and asserting that what she is doing here is actually the valiant thing to do.

the way i can't concentrate on roleplaying because my tadashi is still a work in progress (ʃᵕ̩̩ ᵕ̩̩) there are just so many changes I've been applying to him behind the scenes as well as dismantling the whole story of bh6 because literally, the entire cast is underdeveloped. and I know everyone is absolutely amazing with waiting but I just wanted to scream about this to stress relief. i know what I want to do with tadashi and I have big plans for this blog, i just need to keep on taking things one step at a time 🌱
