To answer your questions:

Schitt's Creek airport exes to lovers was supposed to be a fic for the Frozen Over fest but I just didn't have time to write it so I had to drop the claim which made me sad cos I really wanted to make it three years in a row of participating in Frozen Over! Anyway, this was the prompt that I claimed (and I don't think anyone actually wrote it):

I have ideas for the prompt that involve lots of texting, a little subterfuge on Patrick's part with what will hopefully be a romantic reveal and then reunion. I need to figure out the back story and decide whether I place this within a canon adjacent universe or make it completely AU. I don't write David and Patrick very often anymore, but whenever I do I'm reminded how much I love them and love writing them so, it's staying on the list.

Goal pole trick - I had extended butterfly on my list for this year because it's been something that I couldn't quite get other than once or twice momentarily. BUT as you know because I subject you to my videos, I got it last week (on both sides even!!) and as long as I can repeat that again in the next couple of weeks, I think I can cross it off!! Um, my other goals are doing superman without it being very clear that there are several moments when I think I am going to slide off the pole, inside leg hangs without wanting to cry (rip my inner thighs which are just constantly bruised), JADE SPLIT. Also, just generally looking less like a baby giraffe in 8-inch heels.

Bucket list pole trick - I don't have one! Mostly I just want to look like I know what I'm doing lmao. Maybe choreographing an entire routine without having a breakdown.

3. Are there any specific themes you enjoy exploring in your fics?

I laughed at first because the idea of exploring specific themes when 90% of my fics are just about horny gays having sex, well…

But then I thought about it and I think the theme that gets explored most in my fics, even amongst the smut, is the concept of being known and seen and loved for who you are.

7. How do you handle writer's block or moments of creative stagnation?

I complain endlessly about it to you lol

Otherwise, I’m allergic to not doing things well (it’s that Type A, Virgo, Eldest Daughter syndrome I’ve got going on), so I just keep fucking trying. Sometimes that means abandoning whatever I was struggling with and trying something else. I’ll do a writing sprint or ask for random words to include in the next part of my writing.

Most recently when I was facing some writer’s block I put the call out for some kiss prompts and wrote those instead and it really helped. I think the low pressure stakes of just throwing a small amount of words out to meet one little prompt made it easier.

28. What's the most ambitious or challenging fic you've ever written?

The most ambitious fic was probably what, like it’s hard? for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it was a prequel that I’d never intended to write when I wrote the first lawyer au and the idea of writing more for a universe that had been pretty well received was very nerve wracking. It was probably the first time I really felt like there was any expectations about the fic. And then just the scope of it - it’s the first (and only) long multichap that I ever wrote. It had to cover a span of about 7 years because that was the timeframe I needed to cover from the original fic which meant actually sitting down and writing out a detailed timeline.

And then there’s the fact that I’d written myself into a corner because I didn’t want Alex and Henry to have sex in a bed for a certain amount of time, nor did I want them to actually fuck until that happened. Which meant getting creative about the various combinations of hands and mouth so was writing! 😅

Challenging in a different was was Precious Love which was an exploration of TK’s relationship with love and self-worth in a 5+1 format. I’m not generally an angst writer but there was a fair amount of angst in this and it was challenging for me to write that!

23. How do you write endings for your fics? Do you prefer open-ended or conclusive conclusions?

I prefer conclusive conclusions in the sense that my fics must have a happy ending and the main characters need to be in a happy relationship with each other! But they can be open-ended in the sense that they have their lives (together) ahead of them.

I mean, characterisation is important to me, so in that sense I always want to do justice to canon and make sure that the characters I write feel like the people we know and love.

But also, sometimes the original creator gets it wrong. And half the fun in writing fan fiction is taking canon and tweaking it or completely changing it so in that sense it’s not important to me at all beyond characterisation. Unless I’m writing something set within canon that’s canon compliant of course!
