horrible news: in order for you to finish a wip, you have to work on that wip and not the 2543524 other wips you were brainrotting over instead of that one. more investigations at 7.

This morning I learned there is now such a thing as online courses for "writing using AI" and I swear I felt physically nauseated (and frankly, a little violent). What in the seven hells is this dystopian *bleep*?!
I'm not anti-technology and AI has its uses (esp. since my job is tech-related), but AI has no place in the HUMANITIES.
I foresee the book publishing world becoming so bad in the near future, that I will be stuck reading the only things that are reliably AI-free: the classics (or anything pre-2000s), and fics/fanfics of friends whom I know hate this as much as I do.
I try to avoid even discussing controversial or negative topics on my blog, but this goes to show you how much I truly hate this and I just need to vent.
Putting some screenshots on here because I don't want to promote this crock other than to remind people this is why you need to please be mindful of your AI usage.

You'd think writing a chapter would make you one chapter closer to being done with a fic. You'd think that, wouldn't you??
But no, you are in fact 3 chapters further away.

What I wish people understood about authors is that even when they're traditionally published, almost all marketing falls squarely on their shoulders. Back when I was querying for an agent, it was frequently advised that you include all your social media links and follower counts for each in order to prove that you had enough members of your target demographic already engaged and ready to snap up your book the minute it came available for pre-order.
That was considered among many hopefuls to be a prerequisite for getting published. The contract I signed had a lot of language regarding social media and what I could do, couldn't do, and what I was obligated to do.
I see people still, today, shitting on YA authors for engaging with their YA readers on social media sites-- which makes about as much sense to me as finding it kinda sus to see a park ranger while you're hiking a trail.
Like... Yes? That's kinda their job to be there? They might not be on the clock right that second, but at that point it's just a matter of probability.

I am so ridiculously good at saying I'm finally going to write, opening the document wherein the writing is saved, and then doing anything BUT actually writing it. 😭

I swear to Lucifer none of this is abandoned T.T I'm actually having to help plan a family trip for late next month on top of my depression and anxiety deciding to flare up (which ironically isn't the part that bothers me anymore considering I haven't felt "normal" since I was in like grade school what's the worst part is the sheer lack of energy or will to just do things especially when I'm already having to do other things for daily life and such). The Writer's Block is minor as I can write a few sentences before just blanking out so it isn't a stop, just more of a crawl than my usual sprint

Spent 30 minutes researching climate patterns in Northern Italy to figure out if it's even reasonable to have it rain so often in Minas Tirith in early May.
Because if I'm gonna lean hard on the Wet Éomer Trope, my brain wants to make it at least semi-logical.
