good morning, everyone! it’s me! mamba! god, i missed everyone so much because of being away… i’m finally back after a while, and some new things have started since then that i’ve been excited about!

first, i’ve finally gotten a new job!! it pays me well on just the base check alone, even better than my regular retail job in the past! it’s not nearly enough on its own, but it’s commission based. and so, i’ll be doing my best and trying my hardest to get that extra money!

aside from work, i feel like i’m in a better place mentally… i didn’t expect to take so much time away as i did, but i do think it helped me with some of the things i had going on! and most importantly, i’ve missed you all so terribly much that i’d sneak on every now and then to see what everyone was up to!

as for writing, i do want to get into it again! i’ve had some ideas that i’d been tossing back and forth during these times that hopefully i can make time for! and to read all the things i’ve missed out on!

most of all, i’m just excited to be back!

Xie Lian is a ghost.

He mourns the loss of his last believer and punishes himself by allowing all kinds of tragedy and mishaps to fall upon him, ironically gaining power, since his purpose as a ghost is to grieve.

The only protection he has is a fierce white silk that curls around his body and tries its best to keep him safe.

800 years later, when he hears the rumor about a boy with the human face disease, he visits the famous ghost city where he meets the ghost king, who is pleased to meet him. 

His face, however, is charged with some sort of… melancholy.

He was not expecting him to be dead.

Oh, another, thing, though we're getting a bit more subjective here: the Southern Hemisphere does have overall better views of the Milky Way, this is why indeed many constellations for the people of the Southern Hemisphere, are actually based on the dark nebulae (the "coalsacks") of the Milky Way. It's likely that my perception of the Milky Way is brighter than for someone up north.

For the Guaraní it was a giant rhea (ñandú):

The Inca had so many constellations on the dark nebulae of the Milky Way I didn't know about them all. One interesting thing in the book "The Inca: New Perspectives" was the belief that the constellations in the sky represented the "ideal" forms of the animals or objects on Earth.

And in fact, the constellations vary, just like the description above, from people to people and groups among the same linguisitic and cultural groups. And of course, these are the people of South America I'm familiar with it, similar things were common among Australians and Africans, it seems that the dark clouds of the Milky Way are just more prominent on the Southern Hemisphere.

Honestly I cannot do ethnoastronomy justice with a single post, even if Pueblos Originarios gives you an intro, there are tons of material and literature on it, I recommend reading articles on it.

a question for anyone who has curly/coily hair! how do you all maintain your hair?? especially amidst busy days… does it get exhausting at all? i’ve kind of stopped taking good care of my coils because of how tiring it was for me that it no longer felt satisfying and only like a chore that i’d keep putting it off… not to mention how expensive it gets and i don’t make enough to buy products i need… so! i think i’d always see myself and just… kind of hate my hair for very long periods of time that i began to neglect it…! how do you guys look after your hair?
