Cursed Child actually isn't as bad as people claim, it's just that it's not a feel good story, it's a story about escaping the cycle of abuse. It's a good stand alone, bad sequel, I guess. But nothing will ever top Scorpius Hyperion "I saved the world for Albus" Malfoy and Albus Severus "I would rather destroy the world than watch Scorpius suffer" Potter. Like damn, okay then. I'd let the world burn ass relationship featuring a blonde twink that is begging for his emo boyfriend to not end the world actually. Also Delphi Gaunt serves cunt and she needs to be saved from whatever was going on with the Rowle's and Rodolphus.

i put this under a cut bc i got carried away thinking about this, so sorry

i think jill is very intentional about it. sits them down beforehand and explains the ins and outs, what situation you want to use whatever technique in. the fundamentals are important and she starts them out young.

she drilled paranoia into your kid's skull since they were little. she didn't mean to - it was just basic advice, little facts sprinkled in throughout the day. keep your head on a swivel. be kind, not naive. watch your surroundings. here's how you throw a punch. here's where the solar plexus is. the elbow is the hardest point on the human body. it only takes eight pounds of pressure to break someone's nose.

she's really averse to putting them in a class with kids their age. like 1.) why would she pay for that. she can do it herself and then she doesn't have to shuffle schedules around to figure out how to get her kid to class and 2.) this is not a social activity, this is not a sport, to her this is a skill. she's heard enough horror stories about misinformation and shitty instructors.

i also think jill's kind of bad at balancing normal family activities. she's a homebody and she knows her kid needs to be around other kids and to be socialized, but it's tough. i think as a young adult jill struggled to form connections and feel like she really belonged anywhere, so she filled the pit in her stomach with skills and accomplishments and even though that's changed and gotten easier as she aged, she struggles now to fulfill that need for her kid.

leon i think wants to keep the illusion of Normal a little more. he puts a ton of pressure on himself in a family setting, really lives two lives and tries so hard to keep them separate. jill chose this life, but leon was dragged into it and he keeps work and home as separate as possible. like there's leon :) and then there's Special Agent Kennedy and those two guys do not mingle. when he gets home from work, he does the family annihilator special and sits in the car, dead eyed, hands on the wheel, reforming himself into who he wants to be by the time he steps in the house.

i think he focuses a lot more on defensive skills, on ways to disengage and de-escalate. he incorporates it into play time shockingly well, gathers his kids wrists gently in his hand, watches them giggle and try to get free before he shows them the proper way to do it. ("try it on me. watch," he says, lets his kids tiny hands wrap around his wrist. he breaks free where their hands don't quite clasp. they giggle, try to cage his arm in their grip again. "see? you try now.")

it's kind of at odds with the way he also instills his own sense of justice into them. he tells them to stand up for people who cant do it themselves and for yourself and expects his kid not to get into fights. leon has a blind spot the size and shape of his child. his initial reaction to hearing his kid put someone into the dirt at school is "nice. sorry - i meant, 'oh, no'." followed by "did they deserve it?" leon would never admit it, but he's got big "my kids would NEVER" energy (his kid absolutely would and it'll be a big strain when his kid does fuck up but i digress).

when they get older and he actually tries to teach them the basics instead of disguising it as play, it causes some friction. it runs a little too close to his line of work for him to keep himself entirely separate. he's sharper, more firm. no more fun dad. probably his kids first real reckoning with the dissonance of their father tbh.

well in the lightning thief, percy does save what matters most in the end. he stops the war, he saves his mom, his friends are all safe

technically, the prophecy isn't fulfilled

well what if, and just hear me out, what if the fates/oracle of delphi are waiting to finally fulfill the prophecy?

prophecies don't expire - they could potentially last hundreds of years (we only see ones that last max a couple months in the books outright, but the prophecies are applicable until they finish)

well,

yep, they faced ares in the west

yep, both the master bolt and help were stolen, and returned by the trio

yep, Luke definitely betrayed Percy

well, fast forward several years to the burning maze

technically the first prophecy from the lightning thief hasn't been completed

but then Jason dies

he wasn't able to be saved

he mattered - he was a son of Zeus, former praetor of Camp Jupiter, major peacemaker between the gods/demigods, and played a vital role in building more recognition for minor gods

he was vital, in a way

what if Jason's death was the close to the very first prophecy we ever read in Percy Jackson?

what if this prophecy connected to everything in the riordanverse, intentional or not?

jason's importance was built up throughout heroes of olympus and still recognized in trials of apollo when he made an appearance

the first time Percy doesn't agree to dropping everything for the gods, Jason does agree, and he ends up dying

and Percy couldn't save him

'and you shall fail to save what matters most in the end'

the prophecy may not have actually been fully fulfilled in the first book, or even the first series, but it was fulfilled, because that's the way prophecies work

the original consequence might have been avoided, but it was impossible to avoid it forever, and it ended in an incredibly important figure for both demigods and gods dying

i wanted to know if you have any plans for the og campers???? like luke, clarisse, silena, beckendorf, etc etc

this is SO funny bc i was literally JUST talking to @wronghuntress about them like a few hours ago😭😭 BUT to answer your question,,, it's sort of complicated. bc i didn't realize that i was doing it until like a good way into the series, but i've been unintentionally picturing pretty much all of the og campers/people from the main pjo series as part of the acting side of hollywood, whereas i've been leaning more toward, like, toa/side/minor characters for the rest of the main cast! this makes sense to me because like, nico and will get their big moment in toa, and apollo's a huge character too. percy and annabeth are actors obviously, but i did give them some connections to nico - but either way, i guess i just saw all of those characters as not really having any sort of connection to nico & will (even though i'm the hugest fan of will being close with clarisse and silena and beckendorf- he was totally will's bi awakening it's canon u heard it from me)

but anyway im getting off track, i've sort of had like a completely separate plotline for them going on in my head (not really detailed at all, i'd have to think about it more), dealing with more of those og characters, including percy annabeth and grover! i'm not entirely sure if that'll ever be included in the main fic seeing as they don't have much connection to nico's storyline specifically, but who knows... maybe a spinoff fic one day? i definitely won't be able to write some long 100k fic for them but i'd love to dive into that!

the only thing that i DO see happening is - if you remember this, a while ago, i mentioned the possibility of a third fic or some future plans for nico to write a musical to get that egot, namely hadestown. while the idea was being organized in my head, i've been thinking of silena as helping nico write the musical and playing eurydice, and then ofc i'd love having beckendorf play orpheus - i think he gives the vibes?? or is that just me???

and then jenna (wronghuntress) gave me the BEAUTIFUL idea earlier today of this... silena and charlie as actors, specifically broadway/musical theater actors (though im sure they have also been in some other projects), clarisse as silena's bodyguard,,, and im usually so against love triangles but like. there's so much potential there - again, nothing's finalized, i dont even know if i'm gonna write it, i don't really have ANY plans other than potentially making nico contact silena when he wants to work on his musical and having them + beckendorf work together for the demo recording - it's all VERY vague and blurry so we'll see if i come up with anything more to fall down that rabbit hole!

and as for luke, i pretty much have this: he's an actor, at some point he was prob friends with annabeth after working on a show together or smth, and ends up getting cancelled. for what? i'm not entirely sure yet, but it's probably very shitty for the internet to turn against a hot white guy. actually that fact might make him getting cancelled very unrealistic. but like it's my fic so that's what i'm saying happens! unfortunately he prob still gets roles and he's prob still like a millionaire and stuff but in general: bad person. though he probably (and thalia, because she used to be an actress too before running away) were in a movie/show/something with annabeth when she was young and they kinda mentored her/helped her learn the ropes before her big break. they started a club of neglected child actors which eventually turned into just annabeth, but at least she has percy and reyna and jason and piper and magnus on her side now :)

so long story short: i don't have specific plans, but they're all actors and definitely have a lot of lore that one day i would like to try to figure out!! for now i'm still very focused on tgol/the side stories that take place in THAT main timeline (so right now it'd be 2020-2024), whereas all of the main drama/plot in the actors' timeline would be happening BEFORE talk your talk (percy + annabeth + thalia + luke + silena) (around 2008-2015) or AFTER the greatest of luxuries (silena + clarisse + beckendorf + chris(??? i have no idea what's going on with him?? he's prob famous somehow but idk??? or maybe like childhood friend tis the damn season vibe. god there are so many fame tropes i have yet to unlock and so many characters i have yet to mess with) (around 2024-2026)

I think Carlos will replace Checo on Red Bull or even return to McLaren if Lando is the one to replace Checo. Tbh, I'd rather see Charles leaving Ferrari because it's clear that the team doesn't respect him.

nah, i don't think red bull are clown enough to take carlos back. they've definitely made it clear they want lando and admitted to trying to get charles... i feel like they might have made comments about carlos too if they were trying to get him back (helmut and christian both openly rate charles and lando highly). besides, last time the sainz-verstappen crazy dads showdown didn't work out (and unlikely ferrari, rbr knows how to cut out internal politics when they disrupt the team) so i don't see them being too keen to try it out again. especially not when sainz's political baggage very obviously has ferrari in shambles.

now, a lando to rbr and carlos to mclaren switch up isn't as unrealistic i don't think, but lando seems almost as stubborn about that team as charles is with ferrari so i'm not sure they'll swing it. it's looking a lot like rbr puts daniel in the car just for the pr and because max has proven he can win them both championships essentially on his own. might as well milk the danny ric pr cow they've got going on while they wait for a more ideal candidate to fall into their clutches.

i would love so so dearly for it to be charles, because i would simply love to see him thrive in rbr (fine i like rbr as a team more than ferrari sue me charles is the only thing that dragged me there in the first place). but i also want charles to have nice things and get what he wants and he sooooo desperately wants to win it with ferrari, so i'm really hoping that there's a chance he still stays and thinks actually turn around next year miraculously. like, for his sake. imma be a bit sad about it when the second rbr seat finally gets locked in with someone else.
