I thought I’d share this story:

My wife left for her deployment in July and won’t be back home until next year some time. This is the longest that we will have ever been apart thus far.

For my birthday, she bought me plane tickets to go visit my best friends who moved out to Washington a week before she left to go overseas.

(It was kind of a rough month for me)

Now look, I’ve never traveled by myself anywhere. And I’ve certainly never traveled as far as I was about to. I live on the East Coast, plus I’ve never been this far west before, so this was an anxiety overload.

Basically, what I’m trying to say is, even though I was extremely nervous and thought I’d mess up finding the terminals by myself or something stupid, it ended up being one of the most magical experiences of my life.

I was able to find a little piece of myself on this trip and I can’t believe I had this opportunity. I had been having a rough time the past few months, and not only did I feel like I deserved something good, I needed it also.

I thank my wife for who she is and being selfless and caring even while so far away. And I thank my best friends for forging their own path and allowing me to be a part of that journey from time to time.

This was a trek out of a dark loneliness that I feared would consume me, and it helped me in finding myself.

If you ever find yourself visiting Washington state, I highly recommend trying to see as much of it as you can. There isn’t one place in that entire state that looks the same. It felt like I was on a different planet.

I missed drawiiiiing!! Still gonna need to practice, but guys, this made me so incredibly happy! Is it the best? No. Are there errors? Definitely. My Birthday.

Tomorrow is my birthday and I just can't help but feel a little said that P won't be there tomorrow to help me celebrate. It is going to be difficult as this week we also celebrate our anniversary and his birthday. I miss him so much and although he will be home in months its moments like this that I wish he was here.

Started my morning on the left while big brother was at a sleepover. Thank you again, Lexi for the fun he had with Connor! ❤ But now we are ending our day on the right, with 2 warm just under fever temperature boys. One with a cough and horrible nose, and one with side, elbow and shoulder pavement burns from getting flipped over a bicycle (it was a complete accident). Today has not been their day, they have both been sleeping A LOT. But they are enjoying family cuddles and love, and we will be monitoring through the night for tomorrow. Deployment Slump

I am weeks away from being in the home stretch of this deployment. Time is dragging and I just want him to be home. I am an emotional wreak some days and ecstatic other days. But this weekend has just been practically rough and my mood is just in a slump. I sent all weekend in my pajamas mostly in bed... the weather has been horrible but I should really do something before this mood sticks.
