@layton-npc-appreciation-week day 2! the tea set is one of my favorite minigames in the series -- it gives so much insight into these characters and their lives, so I decided to draw all the characters you serve tea to over the course of the game. this was done in a little bit of an experimental style so I could get it done tonight, and I do like how it came out!

If you play roller derby, I need your help!

I am currently trying to come up with a derby name for a super hero character. I admit I don’t know that much about roller derby, but the general vibe of the character is pop art, and she engineers things to make her able to move as fast as possible.

EDIT WITH SOME SUGGESTIONS FROM THE COMMENTS: her name is Harper, and she currently is unemployed with a passion for engineering. Specifically finding solutions to minor problems. (Her skates are modified to make them go up hills with less effort and make them not slip at all when the ground is wet.) She’s very enthusiastic, and also plan oriented. In the superhero group she’s a part of she is the planner. A bit hot headed and very direct. She doesn’t mince words. She has a very confident exterior, but also a lot of internal struggles. Especially with self worth. She started being a hero after witnessing her moms death and feeling like she needed to do more to keep people safe.

not asking anyone to understand the rivalry but please acknowledge it and our place in it at least. the north london rivalry is one of the fiercest in football because of the way it came about. we languished in midtable forever while they went on to win cups and the league unbeaten at our gaff. that was such a pivotal cultural moment for the rivalry and something that they’ve lorded over us for years. then they fell off and we managed to somehow rise to a consistent cl qualifying club that even contended for the title and the cl at some point, but crucially we won nothing during that run of good years. now seeing them once again rise to the top … it would be absolutely devastating if we gift wrapped them the title again exactly 20 years later. the players will do whatever they want but it’s not wrong of the fans to hope we lose today, as antithetical as it may be. they’d be wishing the same.

kind of a short one today (...I say based only on the amount of pics I took and pages I downloaded for comparison...), so! on to my thoughts and things and whatever translation weirdness I find as I re-read ch 3 of Trigun Maximum vol 2 - the conclusion (maybe) of Vash's battle with roller derby nega-Samurai Jack I MEAN RAI-DEI THE BLADE!!!

(NOTE: I'm reading the Dark Horse [physical] and the Overhaul [online] translations side-by-side)

ok so right off the bat, I noticed that the Overhaul just straight-up doesn't have the first page of this chapter. there's no dead link or anything - it's just that the first page the Overhaul shows is the chapter title with Vash's gun crossing Rai-Dei's sword. here are the 2 pages that come right before that in the Dark Horse translation:

fortunately, y'all reading just the Overhaul aren't missing a lot! no speech bubbles on this "missing" page (on the left). it looks like it's dedicated to setting the scene, I imagine for when this chapter was first printed in Shounen Gahousha - like a little memory refresher of where the last chapter left off, rather than just jumping right in, which I think would've been jarring since the page AFTER the title page is mostly tight close-up shots.

now, our first context-altering translation discrepancy comes after Rai-Dei tells Wolfwood not to interfere with his and Vash's fight. it's a one-word difference, but an important one imo. in Dark Horse, Rai-Dei says this next: "That kind of killing is no longer of interest to me..." whereas in the Overhaul, he says "That kind of easy killing is no longer of interest to me."

(oh and there's discrepancies in what Rai-Dei says to Wolfwood right after that, too, but I don't think they change the context too much. Dark Horse has "You may not feel the same, but...this is a prime opportunity that will not come again." the Overhaul has "You may not see it the same way...but this is a prime opportunity that I will not let pass.")

that one word - "easy killing" - makes this next bit all the more chilling to me:

(Overhaul pictured above - the only difference between it and Dark Horse's translation is that Dark Horse says "taking down" instead of "hunting")

and that leads us to this. little wording differences. the most important ones to me are "chosen by" VS "chosen for" the Gung-Ho Guns and "traded in" VS "gave up" but I'd say that overall, the Overhaul's wording is much more straightforward - which makes that last panel hit harder for me this read-through.

and I just wanna highlight this whole sequence bc it's the first "arm gun" reveal of Trigun Maximum! it's so awesome...oh, what I'd give to see someone who hasn't read Trigun vol 1-2 react to this for the first time!!

again, subtle wording differences - but I wanted to show both bc, either way, this is such a BADASS panel 😈

here, I was never 100% sure of what was happening due to the way Dark Horse's translation is bound - but in the Overhaul's spread, it's a lot more clear that Vash is catching Rai-Dei just as he's reaching for his blade.

this last panel is exactly the same in either translation and jztgjxjgxckh 🤣🤣🤣

Tottenham facing Chelsea FC at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

in the last 5 games at spurs stadium, Tottenham never won a match against Chelsea in the 90 minutes,

Spurs 0-1 Chelsea (Rüdiger) Spurs 0-3 Chelsea (Silva, Kante, Rüdiger) Spurs 0-1 Chelsea (Jorginho) Spurs 1-1 Chelsea (Lamela) (Werner) 5-4 pens✅ Spurs 0-2 Chelsea (Willian x2).

Chelsea doing bad in their last few game weeks, they don't have consistency, and they spent at least 500M in the last two transfer window. and bring 17 players, they have very quality players compared to the spurs squad, but it doesn't work well under potter's guidelines. they hope they will make a comeback against Tottenham and return to the premier league fight.

more over, in the spurs squad, some of the players are knockdown due to the injury,

but last game against west ham they played very well. and scored two goals. Spurs haven't consistency, and that is the main problem of the spurs, they lose any time and also they will win any time, so that, no one can predict the spur's game, once Berbatov said: "supporting spurs drive you fucking crazy". that's true. The spurs have only one plus point, sonny scored a goal in the last game, spurs hope he can score goals against Chelsea too. I'm hoping this will impact on spur's top 4 hopes and also Chelsea's returns.

my prediction: Tottenham 3 vs Chelsea 2

a hard win for Tottenham.
