Ep 15 thoughts, the good & the bad behind the cut:

The good:

So that dressing room scene was muy caliente and I loved it. Loved their couch kiss and all the cute Shinhong scenes including Shinyu trailing after his girl everywhere and neglecting his work duties to do so (lol, how many hours of actual work has he clocked in). I love loser Shinyu the most and him reassuring that Hongjo is pretty in everything was very sweet of him. :3

I adore Ms. Ma and that proposal scene was as messy as it was hilarious. Her reaction was realistic. I'm glad she didn't allow herself to get peer pressured into marriage by her coworkers. Public proposals are such a horrible idea. :D DO NOT DO IT UNLESS YOU'VE DISCUSSED MARRIAGE WITH THE PERSON YOU'RE PROPOSING TO.

Eunwol was her shrewd self, godda love halmeuni. Halmeuni has zero fucks to give.

I'm glad Hongjo's coworkers (the duo of girls) are being kinder towards Hongjo. I hope they can eventually be proper friends.

The bad:

This writers team took all their notes from 2010s kdramas. We have The Mean Girl (Nayeon) and the persistent stalking (by the Gardener) that's been dragged on for far too long. Despite bodyguards, cops and pepper sprays this man cannot be caught. He's an actual supervillain and if he's not using shaman powers to avoid capture, I'd be amazed. The CIA should hire that man.

The absolute garbage that is Shin Yu's father. I loathe that man to my core. I want Shinyu's mom to divorce the bastard, but I just know from the 2010's writing vibes that she won't, and I will hate it. The man is an abusive toad, that is all.

The way they're painting both Shin yu's mother and Hongjo as absent-minded idiots makes me a little [clenches fist]... upset. I don't accept that she'd tell the bodyguards to leave or try to take the bus home AGAIN after everything that's happened. This does not track with my image of Hongjo and she'd be smarter than that. I loved her faceoff with Nayeon, though, she was smart to record the conversation.

Shinyu not telling Hongjo about the pregnancy news... like what was that. Shinyu. My guy. This is not something you just NEGLECT TO TELL YOUR PREGNANT GIRLFRIEND. That wasn't a cute scene, it was an infuriating scene and that omission of important details has been a massive character fault of Shinyu since the beginning of this drama. It's disrespectful towards the intelligence and the autonomy of one's girlfriend. It's insulting.

Also having sex without a condom and immediately getting pregnant... I mean yes, that'll happen if you don't use protection, but late 20s to early 30s men and women who have any sense don't just forget to use protection.

I've been hoping for Shaman Hongjo to rise and for her to have her own Big Moment as the baddie I know she can be, so I'm praying that it'll happen in tomorrow's episode 16/the finale.

There are so many loose threads and so much has been left into the dark, so I just hope that they'll manage to illuminate some of the more integral mysteries at least. But it'll be difficult with just 60 minutes left of the show.

Anyway, cute episode but some parts I really did not care for. Still eager to see the finale and will reserve final judgement until then.

my thoughts on the episode/show overall for now:

hong jo and shin yu were so fucking cute this episode it almost killed me

i'm glad they're not having a baby yet but shin yu's parents having a baby instead.. why the fuck. she was gonna divorce that asshole 😭😭 one drunk sorry does not make up for years of (verbal) abuse

also also shin yu why the fuck would u tell your parents about the 'baby' without telling hong jo first??? that was not cute at all

i did not understand ms ma like she was dead set against marriage and the next scene they're getting married.. do the women in this show not get a say in anything or.. hello writers???

i'm glad hong jo and shin yu got their happy ending but sad we barely got any answers

anyway the show overall: solid idea but the execution needs some work lmao i loved the romcom stuff and all the silliness. the curse/red hand was well done and i loved that it turned out to be hong jo's hand (kudo's to everyone who figured that out only a few episodes in)

i loved how hong jo stood her ground, against that creep and na yeon. i'm so proud of her and she really has grown stronger since the start of the show. hong jo ily forever <3

speaking of that creep: i hate to say it but he was a great villian he really creeped me out

overall a fun show to watch, i'm gonna do a rewatch soon (soon = probably tomorrow lmao i already miss them)

this was the first time i've seen jo bo ah and rowoon in anything and they were both amazing, their chemistry 🔥🔥🔥🔥 sometimes i'd almost forget they were acting. i'm definitely gonna check out more of their stuff (please send me recommendations)

Trying to watch some other shows while I wait for the last two episodes of dwy, and every time there’s a hospital scene or a stabbing, all I can see is Hong-jo screaming Sin-yu’s name while sobbing, and it makes me want to start crying even if the scene in whatever I’m watching is supposed to be happy.

so far, nothing in destined with you (episode 6 currently) has been particularly swoonworthy OR romantic.

a love spell/potion is an incredibly depressing plot device to work with, making every single action by those afflicted absolutely gut wrenching with angst.

it is not romantic of a character to admit some incredibly intimate desires when they're magically compelled to. it's just not.

it's incredibly sad. whomever they're confessing to will never be able to take it seriously without that grim 'it's not real' thought in their mind. and the afflicted wouldn't know either.

the whole show is just sort of whack with consent and responsibility. i'm vaguely enjoying it, but the amount of second leads being dragged into it is making it incredibly messy and uncomfortable. i mostly want to know what happened to red hand and what sort of curses are all at play here.

Anyway, I love how soft Jang Sin Yu gets for his little lady. It's makes me sigh. Wistfully.

Okay okay this scene had EVERYTHING

The mood was instantly set when he walked through and held her like this

Man was not playing games when he did this

And then they oh so cleverly took the lights out

The entire mood shifted right here. Everything became more …these scenes are what we lived for

The way she touches him and we get to see the scar left behind … a literal reminder of how much they’ve both had to overcome. (Remembering in a previous life, she was the one to take a such a wound)

He’s kissed her half a dozen times in this episode already … but there is something different about this right here

Everything that follows is just masterful acting and directing. The angles, the lighting, the music … it’s all just perfect

And this right here …. Had me in an absolute chokehold. The way he’s almost very nearly pulling her toward him. It’s all the little things now 👌🏼

And when I say he devours her … this is what I mean. Look at how he completely covers her entire body with his 🥵🥵🥵

I mean we could not have asked for a more perfect moment

All I’m saying is that if the finale disappoints I’m coming back to this moment right here as the perfect ending …. Or maybe it will be that phone call he gets the next morning … 😏

WAAAAIT!

Ok so I actually haven’t rewatched the episode yet (watched it at work today on my phone) BUT I just saw a clip of when Sinyu was trying to help her out of the ditch and she had her first flashback. Someone put the scene of them in the snow right after it and a lightbulb went off!

What if the garner in the past life does something to Aengcho (I hope that’s the proper spelling) like, idk CURSE HER (or both her and Mujin), and she ends up in the ditch (by past life gardener) but Mujin saves her. They go to escape but realize they can’t, so they both decide that it would be “best” (aka hurt the most) if Mujin shoulders her curse so that she can escape the shackles of whatever the curse is!

And as a result, Sinyu experiences the red hand because Mujin has finally been reincarnated (I believe it was mentioned in his talk with Eun Wol that he had “finally” been reincarnated in this life or something like that) and Aengcho is reaching out to him in a heartbreaking lovers lost kind of way!
