Soap: YES! He went to visit Alejandro and Rudy in Mexico and apparently he had his mask off a lot and the SUN DEEPENED HIS FRECKLES AND NOW I CAN SEE THEM AROUND HIS EYES WITH HIS MASK ON

Soap: Kyle I’m going to EXPLODE

Gaz: I want to see these freckles

Soap: There’s no going back once you do. Is that a risk you’re willing to take?

one of soap’s greatest accidental discoveries is the dark shade of red that colours ghost’s face when he blushes.

he doesn’t even particularly remember what he had said to elicit the reaction—only recalls the way the endearingly deep tint had even creeped past the edges of ghost’s balaclava before the lieutenant ducked his head and changed the topic.

as great as the initial discovery is, however, soap is left with questions. he wonders how far the blush goes. he wonders the exact pattern it stains ghost’s pale skin, wonders how warm ghost’s face grows beneath its prickle.

but with the discovery now made, it becomes his mission to see it as often as possible—and hopefully one day, make ghost blush with his face uncovered, just so that soap could map the colour along with freckles and beauty marks and commit every aspect of ghost—simon—to memory.

*a few months after Soap and Ghost start dating*

Soap: Wait… you like Kyle? You’ve liked him for months… almost longer than you’ve liked me

Ghost: Yep

Soap: Why haven’t you asked him out?

Ghost: He’s intimidating

Soap: … you asked ME out!

Ghost: You’re not intimidating, at least not like how he is. I knew you’d say yes, you’re not very subtle

server soap who consistently racks up the biggest tips during his shifts, always knowing how to charm, flirt, say the right things. it’s even pretty common for him to receive at least one phone number every time he’s working, though he always discreetly tosses those once he’s out of sight.

not because he’s necessarily opposed to dating—it’s just that he’s got his eyes on a certain bartender.

ghost is gruff, quiet, awkward, and stupidly oblivious to soap’s advances. soap thinks he’s perfect. so he doesn’t really care if his flirting doesn’t get him anywhere, because at least ghost talks to him unlike with most of their other coworkers.

ok, soap cares a little bit. because god knows how much he wants to kiss ghost silly, how much he wants to hold him and sing praises and watch that endearing blush spread across ghost’s face. but even still—he could wait. he would wait, until ghost was comfortable enough for anything to come about.

but for the time being, soap will just pretend the eyes he often feels on his back mean anything of significance, and aren’t just ghost glaring at him for snagging drinks.
