amazes me how people write so fast. Just churning out amazingly good fic on the regular. How do?? how???
meanwhile I’m over here like...excited to have been able to keep my eyes open after work long enough to have gotten 500 words done and some minor edits

Finally did art of Miriam!! It's mostly concept at this point, but I did give Miriam funky blood wings mostly because I felt like she needed something to more outwardly make her inhuman.
They're based largely off of moth wings hence the eyes and the general way they sit when not in use. It was this or give Miriam more than two eyes.
The blood sword is unashamedly based off of the chikage from Bloodborne for Miriam IS influenced heavily by Bloodborne specifically lady Maria.

Falorin: You know, since my first husband is dead —due to mysterious circumstances, of course— I must point out that the spot is now vacant. Care to be my second? (And best?) 😘
Gale: Huh. Tempting as that might be, could you swear to me that accepting won't leave me in some sort of mortal peril?
Falorin: Given our passion for adventure and my... condition, uh, no, probably no—
Gale: I accept!

Astarion ramblings
So I'll preface this by saying I haven't played BG3 (my laptop can't run it, but I'm saving for a PC), but I can't get the idea of Astarion and dhampir!Tav out of my mind.
Now, if you don't know what a dhampir is, it's the offspring of a Vampire and a Human and comes from Balkan mythology and folklore. They are also a playable race in DND.
Generally, for the most part [and depending on what version you're playing] dhampir have all the strengths/abilities of a Vampire with none, or almost none, of the drawbacks, with some not even needing to drink blood and instead are able to get by with eating raw meat.
Astarion learning all of this.
Would he resent Tav for having all of the "good bits" of vampirism but none of the drawbacks? Or would he find some comfort in their similarities? It could be both.
Astarion & dhampir!Tav is something with so much potential.

Thinking about Astarion and Quillen unknowingly tracking the same animal to feed on and then running into each other and just *insert Spider-Man point meme*

I have a Thought that I'd love to hear everyone's opinions on. We all know that a lot of Moroi men will have affairs with dhampir women resulting in children but be absent from their lives. We also know that Randall Ivashkov proves that royal Moroi are part of this group of men.
So I wonder if Lissa's rule would have been given the same validity if Jill was a dhampir. There are probably so many dhampirs out there that are the illegitimate children of royals that Eric Dragomir being father to one wouldn't be that big of a deal and might not even count in some people's eyes considering how much some Moroi talk about dhampirs.
AND I'm also left to wonder about Adrian's children. Would Declan be seen as a royal while he is also seen as Adrian's son? What about other children they might have in the future? They would have the surname Ivashkov but would they really be treated like a royal? I'm guessing no 🤷🏻‍♀️

So I have already a very loose concept for my next KC...
Basically I want to weaponize the second idea I had for a Full Game Lore Friendly KC. Instead of the full 78 years time slip I chose for Nela, the soul was taken 78 years ago and then placed in a different body shortly before being dropped in Kenabres.
Who is this person? The soul? The body? Both? He doesn't know, his memories are a disjointed mess at best.
That's already messed up enough. But our man is a Shifter (aka, follows druidic beliefs) and an Aeon. His mere existence is a violation of everything he believes in, he is both repulsed by his own nature and too dedicated to his duty as an Aeon to self-terminate.
He wants nothing more that to free himself from existing, but as long as bigger wrongs exist he'll manage.

When it comes to the other ghost characters, I don't necessarily want all of them to be vampires in this au. The only characters I can see being vampires besides Vlad are Spectra, Bertrand, and maybe Skulker but in like a Blade type way minus the dhampir part.
I still want ghosts to be the main supernatural presence here and Danny's parents to still be ghost hunters. I think it'd be interesting if Danny was an outlier when it comes to the supernatural makeup of Amity Park. Just like how in the show Danny was the only known halfa of Amity Park, I think Danny should be one of few if not the only vampire of Amity Park.
This could lead to some interesting interactions with the GIW, Valerie, and the ghosts.
Like if Danny's taking out GIW agents i.e. them being the target of his feeding, then the GIW now have to deal w a vampire on their hands. Even though they weren't exactly trained nor did they expect vampires when they took up residence in Amity Park.
To the ghosts, even though Danny's technically not one of them the fact that he's deliberating going after people who are more of threat to them than him, has to count for something in their book.
As for Valerie, she figures out Danny's deal alot sooner here and they're both in on that fact. I said this in a post prior that while Danny isn't the one who makes a big deal out of having to eat people, other people do specifically Valerie.
Obviously nobody believes her whole theory that Danny is actual a vampire. And she gets outsed from her social circle because they think she's embarrassing herself with this. Which just serves all the more as fuel for her to spite them and vindicate herself. Meanwhile Danny's not exactly doing a good job trying to make Valerie ease up on the whole exposing him bit as he's being a little shit about it.
When it comes to the theories Valerie's drawing about Danny, she comes to speculate that maybe because he's the only vampire in Amity Park his presence is somehow the source of the increase of supernatural activity and just the supernatural being here in general. Like maybe he's controlling them because he's got some kind of vampiric powers that can do that. So naturally she comes to conclusion if she wants to be rid of the town of these supernatural forces, she's got to cut off the head of the snake by killing Danny. Because surely that will fix everything right......right?
But what Valerie has to come to understand is that supernatural has just much say on the town as denizens. She's basically setting herself up for an impossible task by trying to be rid of something that's inevitably linked to the other. Even then the supernatural is just as human as everyone else who lives here whether they like it or not.

Reading some threads on how to not feel so isolated from fandom as a content creator and a post recommended responding to comments on AO3. I, of course, read and love every comment, but usually do not respond unless there’s a direct question or something that prompts for more discussion.
I do this sparingly because I was told a long time ago that doing this is unfair, as author comments still show as comments, which pad the stats. I was okay to believe this because I am shy af and sometimes don’t know how to answer such nice compliments…
Is this thinking all wrong though? Do readers want authors to answer? Does anyone even care about the comment number? I honestly don’t know and would appreciate the input!

I like to think in the vamp!au each region has mainly dhampirs scattered around, a rare vampire here and there just hanging on. Unova just casually has a vampire nurse joy in Opelucid City, who’s legit just chilling. She’s really out her using her immortality to her advantage, she and drayden are immortal buds even if he is just a dhampir.

Just finished watching the OVA for the first time and by god was it good. Angsty as hell at times, but honestly pretty good ngl. My main complaint is the CGI usage which usually ends up looking incredibly weird ngl. Pretty sure that's just because of the time period, but I gotta love janky CGI that so clearly doesn't fit. But still the OVA made love Penwood and actually be upset over his death, he's now one of my fav characters alongside Pip.
Gotta say, was not expecting that one scene with Seras' mother's corpse, and very happy it doesn't out right show what happened to Alucard as a child as the manga did. The manga is very uncomfy. The OVA is very mildly less uncomfy when it comes to such things. Weirdly young vlad kinda looks like a young Walter for whatever reason??? Dunno, it's weird a thing I noticed.
Also holy shit was Alucard a zealot, and he really did just take all that hate he had and just put it inwards against himself, huh?
Another thing- lots of wing motifs with Alucard. Like I know he has the thing of 'eating his wings to make him tame' but like, it's really interesting how there's just so much wing imagery, especially in that scene where he jumps off the boat. Dude looks like an angel of death. This will probably get it's own more indepth thing, just like how I am still kinda working on dhampirs and how they might work in this universe.
I don't care if Hellsing Vampires are utter abominations, I want to know how that DNA would combine with human and see just how fucked up a result I can get. And a not so fucked up result which would be the not so realistic, my mind wants to know how that would work out.

Crying in the club, thinking about long-lived or immortal characters living out their lives with their short-lived and mortal loves, mostly in reference to bg3. And yeah, while the asari in mass effect had a good approach of focusing on the time they spend together with loved ones and it's lovely and all, it just feels so disconnected of an idea to me at times. Because guess what? Love is messy. Feelings are complicated. It's just as valid in my opinion for characters to get upset some days as the limitations of time become apparent. Sometimes, reasoning your way through it isn't enough, and it's okay for characters to feel frustrated or sad because while they have centuries to look forward to on average, their partner(s) might have one or two at most! It's okay for them to mourn the time ahead that they will have to spend without them. It's okay for the shorter lived person to want them to go on, to rediscover their passion and love for life, even in a world without them, a world with an empty void left behind after their passing. It's okay to feel the ups and downs of their love in every capacity, no matter how good or bad, so long as they work through their feelings together and come out with an even stronger bond because of it. Idk, I just love the potential there is to such relationships, even if they are finite, because that doesn't detract from the beauty or the meaning of it in the slightest. But that's just me.
